slimmy05: Marriage has always been the easiest truth. Even the ones that clamour about employment still has marriage first in their mind or don't you know so? grin
Some nigerians will never agree but after a few years, it's wedding bells. Then if you ask, they'll say they were naive then and now they know better.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by osahons9(m): 8:08am On Sep 19, 2014
bigfrancis21: I think I get your point. You were trying to say that green card by marriage is the major route to residency in the US. True to that, green card by marriage still remains the most commonest and easiest means of adjusting status here in the US because of the ease that comes with it. All you need to do is simply fall in love and have your GC in your hands in 1 year, or 2 years tops. I mean, take a look at all the statistics on percentages of routes to green card and the marriage route trumps the others. Last year, 2013, family based green cards made up 55% of all green cards issued and employment based green cards 13%. It is still the preferred means of adjustment because you don't have to be a 'genius' or 'exceptional' to earn it neither do you have to wait 6 long years to get it. Not to also think of the fact that green card via marriage is the only green card route that 'forgives' any prior immigration law transgressions such as a previous F1 status who violated their status, or a visitor visa alien who overstayed on his visa etc. These transgressions are difficult to forgive if adjusting via other routes to green card especially via the employment route.

People get their green cards via other routes such as employment, visa lottery, asylum etc but their numbers are small compared to the marriage route. Green card by marriage still remains the preferred route by many anytime anyday.

Some nigerians hate the truth. The backlash from my statement wasn't what I expected. I know alot of people in the US who wouldn't lie to me even juntod. So let them wait 6 additional years plus the normal msc 2 to 5 years. That's like 11 years just to go home and carry your gf/bf. God is really able!!

MsNas: Correct me if I'm wrong, but you said marriage is the end game.
Most likely. Maybe I should have put it in a better way. I have spoken to alot of people in the us and some in the UK too. Most people end up being married (legal or arrangee). Well, they might be wrong.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by osahons9(m): 11:10pm On Sep 18, 2014
MsNas: You're kidding right? Marriage is not the only way to get a green card and consequently a blue passport. You can have you employer file a work based Green Card for you (You don't even need to go the OPT and H1B route of they file a Green Card for you). After a few years, then you can apply for a passport.
Did I say it was the only way? I never said so. I said either a job or marriage. Don't get me wrong.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by osahons9(m):
ferdimako: You must not marry anyone to have a green card.
See, I don't like it when people sugarcoat things. You get your residency after a while if you are working (H-1b). Then marriage is the end game.

Don't deceive people here. Their folks spend alot sending them there.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by osahons9(m): 11:12am On Sep 18, 2014
tayoamos: I don't think so, unless you get a job and your company can file for u.
If you look at my previous post, I said a job (company files for you)(H-1b) but this doesn't make you a permanent resident. You just have a stay in the country while you work with the said company for the time specified.

Let me break it down....Na marriage dey end am or you leave their country for them.

Register for paypal online. Add ur gtb mastercard, then get it verified and register for your test. Check the last 10 to 20 pages. You will see the procedures.

I find it puzzling that you hide your post when you want people to help you out here. I am here now, how would I know what you are talking about?

Having red some parts of your story, Arrangee was involved especially that sponsorship letter from the Honourable. Then the cash flow of those accounts can be another issue.

Then confidence issues. My guy you have to convince them by sounding confident. Let them know you deserve it. From your transcript I read, you sound more like an immigrant.

You can. Apply and go get your visa. Just have something to say for the time you've been at home. Just something that makes sense and is resonably possibly true.

This issue of registering for any ets test isn't true. You can register for gre, toefl, hiset etc using your paypal account as long as you are verified. It is that simple.

This greenlight issue is a story for D Gods. I have seen green light beaming through only to uncover n see yellow and Red. Now I just look at every light the same (yellow). Just like the traffic sign, While during the day the light changes from yellow to red, in the night, it goes from yellow to yellow which says "go on".

it is difficult to advise this particular person. Why would you even think of stamping your passport with fake ghana stamp. That's fraud and I think it will take a new passport alongside the grace of God to ever get a US visa.

Lonewolf001: hello house please i heard submitting false documents to d embassy could lead to a life time bann and a neighbour of mine who recently applied for an f1 visa recently submitted a doctored bank statement and the embassy collected it to go and verify and later called her and denied her a visa but she was given that 214(b) paper which also states that she can reapply does dis mean she has been banned or can she still reapply. what could be the implications of something like this.
He was unlucky and chances of getting visa is as slim as a tookpick (abi tookpick too big sef). Let him try again but I doubt he will get it.

homu88: VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning Sir
(I passed my documents to the VO. He looked at them and typed a few things on his keyboard.)
VO: I see you’re going to XYZ University. Why XYZ University?
Me: XYZ have a prestigious engineering faculty and they offer good research opportunities. The electrical engineering faculty and they offer a course that I am interested in.
VO: (cuts in) what course again?
Me: Advanced Power Systems Design and Analysis
(I have been working as a power plant engineer so I expected him to ask about power systems or what I have been doing since I graduated but instead he goes)
VO: can I see your grades?
(I passed my University degree and transcripts = 3.9/5)
VO: Do you have your WAEC?
Me: Yes Pls (I passed the WAEC result laminated. Before he started looking at my result scripts, I added). I also have the results of my standardized tests.
VO: let me have them. (I passed my GRE and TOEFL results…. GRE = 305, TOEFL=105. He looked at them and asked me to hold on. Then he walked in with my GRE and TOEFL printout plus my WAEC. I applied for a Master’s degree. I was wondering why my WAEC result was requested for in the first instance and why he left my original degree certificate on his desk. He returned after 2 minutes, looks at my I-20 and asks)
VO: Who is Mr. ABC?
Me: He is my father and is sponsoring my education.
VO: Can I see his statement pls. (I passed it to him)
VO: Where did you get this from?
Me: It was given to me by my father (he looks at it and types further then he went for the white paper).
VO: I’m sorry but you’re not ready to go to the US at this time. The reasons are stated in that form.
Me: (I smiled at him and said) Thank you. (Then I packed my documents and walked out.)

I have read many pages in this thread especially part 5 and VOs give applicants benefit of doubt before denying them visa. I had authentic documentation and good scores. I believe I wasn't given any opportunity to explain anything. He didn't ask me about what I have been doing since I graduated or any questions about my school.
I want VOs in the house to read my transcript and help me with any flags as I have to show a change in my current position during my next application.
Thanks
Sorry for being delayed. You need to refire n go back to collect ur visa..it's yours.

Looking at the transcript, your reasons for choosing the school was too weak. He wants to hear at least a good reason why u chose xyz uni n not abc uni. You should talk about the rank of the school at least.

when he asked you for your waec result, I think he was looking at your reaction and I also thought you were too upfront, he asked for your Waec, you would have given it to him n not tell him about your tests.

Course of study is electrical engineering, that was what he was asking you about.

Thereafter I believe he saw you like an intending immigrant with fraudulent documents.

The default position of the embassy is to issue you visa, but your answers determines if you should or shouldn't be given.

This my 50 cent (not Curtis Jackson)

This is really painful. Someone posted his/her transcript that s/he was delayed earlier today and what you all are talking about are some rookie lovers who are learning the ropes of a relationship.

This is not a thread for romance henceforth, no one should discuss such here again

@justwise please do needful.

honeyad: What if its sealed without been opened... Verifying is not the issue but my school doesn't send transcript... They can only issue you at hand with seal on it and stamp ..
You can send it yourself. Just like sending to schools, take the transcript to a courier coy n tell them u want to mail the transcript. Sender name should be the registrar not you.
