leparj:You are absolutely right. Alot of people are not reading in between the lines. UCAP is doing Extra Ordinary General Meeting [EGM] on August 21, 2024 and not the normal Annual General Meeting [AGM] and the purpose is for Shareholders to approve the Share allotment and share increase. No of shares outstanding in the market will increase from August 21 hence the constant mop up before 21st. Dividend payment happening on Aug 9 has nothing to do with the EGM. At current price, the stock seems undervalued and there is still space for uptick considering the forecasted revenue figures we expect the company to declare by the end of the year including the full dividend to be paid. UCAP has had one the top five dividend yield in the market within the last 3-years and same will happen this year. Just that people dont always do their research well and follow the band wagon effect. Many people will come back scrambling. |
Locotrader:I think there may be a rate hike albeit marginal. Just my opinion. A rate hike for the ffg reasons: 1. Inflation figures released for Feb 2024 shows that inflation rate rose to 31.70%, up from 29.90% in January 2024, marking an increase of 1.80%. Also, month-on-month headline inflation rate in February 2024 reached 3.12%, an increase of 0.48% from January 2024’s rate of 2.64%. The inflation demon is still on its heightened mission. 2. The CBN Governor has made his stand known that achieving monetary and price stability is a major priority of his regime. Though, inflation figure is not the only yardstick used by the MPC committee to make MPR decision. There are several other factors. 3. Furthermore, while delivering his keynote address on Nov 24, 2023 at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) 58th Annual Bankers’ Dinner, the CBN Governor stated this - "the CBN is confident that with continued tightening measures for the next two quarters, we will be able to effectively manage inflation." In essence, we are yet to see the last of the rate hike if we are to go by this statement. These two quarters being referred to here are the 1st two quarters in 2024 (Jan to Jun, 2024). 4. Infact, when the last MPC meeting was conducted, Cardoso himself voted for the MPR rate to be hiked by 425-basis-points to 23 percent. However, the 12-member committee instead settled for a 400-basis-points hike to 22.75 percent. Cardoso’s rate target was the biggest after Aloysius Ordu, who voted for an increase of 450 basis points, confirming him as one of the most hawkish members of the MPC. Source: https://businessday.ng/business-economy/article/for-cardoso-nigerias-jumbo-rate-hike-was-not-big-enough/ 5. Furthermore, despite the outcry on rate hike, this is not the highest rate hike in the history of Nigeria. In 2001 when we experienced similar situation, the MPC committee did a 650 basis point hike, jacked up 1year TBills to around 22% from 15%, increased CRR drastically, etc. Same orthodox methods being used back then is being used now. Cardoso is of that era, time and age so he knows what he is doing. Its deliberate. There are some other reasons that I can give that points to a further rate or why it should be increased but make I stop here. 6. On flipside, the worst case scenario is to keep the rate flat as Cardoso and Aloysius Ordu are not the only members of the MPC committee. Other majority members may vote flat. But lets wait and see as the next MPC meeting is now scheduled to hold on Monday and Tuesday next week (March 25 and 26, 2024). These are just my hypothesis. |
Osamabinla:I made this comment on November 7, 2020 Five days after, exactly what i predicted has happened. FG has accused #EndSars promoters of Terrorism. They will link it up to "Terrorist Financing" https://punchng.com/cbn-accuses-endsars-campaigners-of-terrorism/ |
Very funny country First, it was the soldiers who denied involvement in the lekki shooting. They even went as far as going to Twitter to label it Fake News. Later when the pressure was too much, they began confessing that Lagos State Government sent them meanwhile the same Lagos state Government who sent the Soldiers to Lekki also denied knowing anything claiming it was powers beyond their control while those in Abuja said they were hoodlums disguised in military uniform. LCC too who initially claimed they had a clear footage of all the happenings at Lekki toll that night came out to say their camera stopped working at 8pm because Ikoyi toll that got burnt that same night. How on earth is that ? Lies The lady that was arrested by immigration and had her name on the no-fly list. Immigration officials initially denied the arrest. Later they admitted and have now lied again that the arrest had nothing to do with the endsars protests meanwhile they have a long list of people involved in the endsars protests included on that no-fly list. Now CBN officials have totally denied blocking peoples accounts involved in the protests. They said the public should disregard it that it is fake news. They said they don't know anything about it. However some smart dudes have gone ahead to sniff out the truth showing it was the CBN Governor who indeed got a court order to block the accounts for whatever reasons known to him. The question is why do all these Government officials lie? They will stab you at the back and claim they know nothing about it that Infact they were never at the scene and its the handiwork of their opposition who are bent on dragging them down. The mother of them all. They want to start regulating social media after Liar Mohammed denied involvement in the hate speech bill meanwhile he was the one who actually sponsored the bill. What a country!!! There is a high likelihood that the CBN will link the account closure to terrorist financing. Yes. For this kind of case to be won, people involved need very sound and very senior lawyers like a "SAN" to rep them. CBN has some new anti terrorism financing acts/laws which alot of people are not aware of. Owners of the account need to be able to proof they know the source of every kobo that entered their account including those who sent the monies during the said time frame which I doubt they will be able to do. Most of the monies came in from random and good spirited people while some may have ulterior motives tho. CBN anti terrorism act doesn't permit using your personal account to fund protest of any kind whether peaceful or violent in Nigeria. There are a lot of hidden rules alot of people don't know. Bottom line, those guys need a very very very sound lawyer to win that case. And for this generation, we need to be way more smarter. Bitcoin and smart wallets are the way to go. When posting things online. Start adopting the use of private VPN that can't be easily traced. Do not use your real name or email in public. To capture public events of this nature, make use of drones. Don't store video that can implicate you on your phone. Save all your files in the cloud and ensure its very secured and untraceable at least in this country. #BESMARTER |
Rumours of cancellation are no more news especially during times likes this Abeg let us be calming down biko. Few weeks before the GT list was released, that was how some people from no where began bombarding this thread with rumours of cancellation. Probably some did it intentionally while some were just trying to prove their sources right who had informed them that the recruitment process have been cancelled which eventually turned out to be a lie. Some even went as far as raining curses on anyone who dared to stand against their cancellation news. They kept on instilling fear and creeping sadness into people's mind every blessed day. So many gbas gboos including people wey chop painful ban from the moderators. All of a sudden, NNPC won the court case and the GT list was released. The EH recruitment will definitely see the light of the day. We should note that not all the so called sources have authentic info. Some will even deliberately lie to you so you can stop disturbing them. |
Miky91:The NNPC GMD mentioned in one of his recent interview that the Kaduna, PH and Warri refineries would be outsourced to private companies who would be in-charge of managing the refineries. They would be given mandates to return the refineries back to profitability within a specific time frame. I suspect this must be one of the reasons why the support staff contracts are being terminated as NNPC would no longer be directly in-charge of managing the refineries. Moreso, it has been approved by the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum. There is no reversal on this except the National Assembly wades in. On the other hand, one of the major justification for this is that the three refineries have been loss making for a long time and at this period where oil revenue is highly constrained, there is no reason to continue to run a loss making refinery. They wont even be able to pay salaries in the long-term if current global (i.e. reduced oil price and COVID-19 pandemic issues) crises persists. I would rather advice that the support staff find out who the new handlers are or would be and seek employment opportunities with them. Tho it may be easy to say but not as easy as it seems. In another scence, there are rumours that quite a number of GTs would be posted to the refineries under a different kind of arrangement with the new operators. However, the veracity of this info is yet to be ascertained. |
I remembered i mentioned in this group that there are people who will recieve success notifications without knowing anybody at the towers especially when someone here was saying all the slots have been sold. Abeg, If you have gotten success notification without knowing anyone but GOD Almighty, please indicate and testify to proof the naysayers wrong. I also mentioned the recruitment for GTs and EHs have not been cancelled as against the rumour peddlers of recruitment cancellation. Thank God for everything. |
Congratulations in advance to the GTs. Its now very obvious that the court case was the major cause of the delay. I pray they conclude EH recruitment fast. NNPC is funny tho, they decided to issue a statement with immediate alcarity and notify potential candidates before some unhappy souls go to court on Monday and file an appeal against the recruitment. Then we enter round two of delay. |
I am not surprised at Jarus ordeal. The reason is because not everyone wants this recruitment to end in peace. Some are aggrieved that they could not even go past the CBT stage hence they feel the recruitment should be scrapped. So sad. Secondly, most recruitment in big organizations are usually done in secrecy because there are always too many candidates who know someone at the top. The moment they noticed that Jarus had posted the online. They ll screenshot and send to their connect who will start mounting serious pressure at the towers and this could cause bad blood. Usually when such situations arises, the first suspects are the HR staff whether or not they are the ones who leaked the info. Usually they don’t get sacked but they ll be moved another unit where they may eventually end up being frustrated. By the way, this days, most organizations do force the staffs handling sensitive roles to sign oath of secrecy. I don’t know of NNPC tho. Jarus personal info is on his website. I definitely know he would have recieved a lot of calls within this time frame and some staffs would have even called from the towers pretending to be an external person and demanding to know how he got his info. And from there it gets more complicated and frustrating. I know the recruitment process will end soon for both GTs and EHs. Despite the info being leaked, it would not change much of the plans at this moment. Let’s all be ready to smile and dance for joy. Oga Jarus, epele oo. Sometimes being nice or liberal can land someone into trouble. U have tried. |
BenFlash:I also feel so. Very few EHs may be contacted especially those in the Accounting, financial and commercial side but very few and would not even have the same resumption date as the GTs. |
Recruitment for EH has not been cancelled. (At least for now). The list for GTs and EHs will be released. There will be different resumption dates for GTs and EHs including very few EHs compared to GTs. And lastly, there are some people who will get APL or OOE as the new name is called without knowing anybody at the towers. Please when the list is out and you fall among those that got APL without knowing anybody at the towers. Please come back here and testify. Mark this statement and remember that someone once mentioned it here. Forget the doubters and naysayers. God is good all the time. Happy new year |
Inside Life.............. Just at the point when the recruitment process is about come to a conclusion and successful ones notified, court issues a statement for both parties to maintain status quo. NNPC or not, it will all end in praise. First, it was some concerned individuals claiming the initial assessment phase was flawed and marred by so many irregularities. Then they started protesting. Nevertheless, the Corporation continued the process successfully to the interview stage Second, some people began the rumors that all slots have been dished out to the children and relations of the high and mighty so no hope for local man Third, Access Bank theory. E.g. Those that were not paid were the chosen ones. Las las, the theory was rendered null and void Fourth, It was the issue of some folks who did not write the test but were called for the interview at the Tower. Local men were quick to discover this matter. Fifth was rumors of slots being sold for between N4M to N10M. Sixth, rumors of some 120 or 70 names who neither wrote the test nor passed the interview being smuggled in to the list. Seventh, contract staff protesting that they must be considered ahead of new entrants into the corporation hence mass protest for cancellation of the exercise. Seems many of them have now been sorted but dunno how true this is. Eight, Rumors of cancellation or suspension of the exercise started to gain real weight while folks were busy bashing each other on the forum Nine, National Assembly issues a probe into the recruitment process to ascertain process credibility Ten was the issue of name re-shuffling due to FCC issues as some states were rumored not to meet the FCC criteria and Presidency intervention into the process Eleven, cancellation and suspension rumors re-surfaced again even with a louder bang at this time Twelve, rumors of the process almost coming to an end or conclusion started emerging. Grapevine news had it that all selected names were with the HR dept. Corporation was just awaiting end result of union salary negotiation with the FG including 2020 budget approval for the Corporation. At this point, trainers have been properly briefed and location of training set in order. Twelve, cancellation and suspension rumors yet again began its ugly roar as many scrupulous elements could not get their way in the recruitment process Thirteen, Court case that had been pending for a while started getting urgent attention in the court and both parties were ordered to maintain status quo till Oct 29, 2019 Haba, wetin local man no go see finish for Towers. Inside life ehn.............. Anyway, am not an historian neither will i say this is all that has happened so far but this is as much as i can remember from the local men observation stand point. We keep learning each day. This just shows how laborious a government recruitment process could be and this also helps to gives insight into why or how so many FG agencies' recruitment have been abruptly cancelled in the past. E.g: Police, Customs, etc. |
joebaba123:Lets see how this week goes. We can only keep hoping for the best. God will meet everyone at the point of their needs whether NNPC or not. This one is for the #Naysayers, the NNPC recruitment exercise has not been cancelled. |
snitchbitch:This got me laughing.. Haq! Haq! Haq! which one is skull mining movie again.. |
ALAS!!! Local man have received alert. Experienced Hire Time: 15:25 Amount: NGN20,000 From Lazarus MIKAILU - NNPC PAYMENT Truly the end is near!!! Next is APL in the next few days........... |
Based on what some people are claiming here that the list has been signed. If it's true, then that's really good news that means very soon, We go begin celebrate. |
It’s not a good act to peddle false information especially that the exercise has been cancelled even to the extent of claiming a source to it. The exercise has not been cancelled. Yes all is ready but it’s been delayed for reasons best known to those in-charge. The prayer is that the list be released ASAP despite the agitations from different quarters. However the number of those that will make it compared to those partook in the interview is interestingly small. |
number5:Thanks a lot. God bless |
geektrovert:A resignation letter is effective immediately it is recieved- I do not totally accept this statement. 1) When you resign, it is important you categorically state your effective date. It is not just by sending a mail that you are not doing again except you work in a one man business. Multinationals have rules. 2) Some jobs require a 3months or 2months or 1 month or 2weeks notice and which is usually stated in the employment letter including consequences of not honouring such. 3) Third. Some companies have further clauses which are specific to such companies alone. Example of which I mentioned earlier. E.g. you can't resign while on leave. This is a company custom made rule. It doesnt relate to all companies. 4) I mentioned it here so pple can learn. It happened to me. I sent in my resignation while on my annual leave in one of the banks earlier this year. And the HR business partner called to remind me of the contract I signed and how I can't resign while on leave including the consequences and the best way to go about it should in case i ultimately do not want to return back to work after my leave. 5) That is why I adviced the person who asked that question to refer to the company HR so as to be appropriately guided. I even mentioned he/she liaise with a trusted friend in the HR. Sometimes when you mention such, they immediately start monitoring you closely in some organisations so it has be done discreetly except you are ready to damn the consequences. Let's not please mislead others in this forum with incomplete information |
darella:I don't know if there is any statutory law against resigning while on leave BUT best advice is to check with your HR if you can resign while on leave and implications. Let them advice you. The reason is this. Some banks in Nigeria (Can't mention names pls) do not permit a staff to resign while on leave. They 'll reject your resignation letter. They will also debit you for the days off work if you remain adamant on resigning while on leave and they can also refuse to provide you with a reference letter. I don't know if that is a right or bad thing to do by the banks. But at least i am telling you from experience. So be guided in case you work with a bank but all the same it's best to check with a trusted friend in your HR or HCM department or division. On the flipside and on a general note. I personally would not advice anyone to resign before getting APL. Am aware we all work by faith and not by sight and there is nothing God can't do. Most pple hopefully will have the opportunity of about a month notice period between APL and resumption with the Corporation. |
larride:No. The panel chairman was Northerner. Wore kaftan. Some of the panel members had grey hair. Old strong men |
Jarus:Panel 3. 10th floor. Friday 5th July. Blk C They interviewed EH 1) Supervisor/ Senior Supervisor, commercial strategy 2) Investment Analyst - Supervisor n officers 3) Business development (Supervisor n officers) 4) Accountants They were the ones that asked about the "list the 10 clauses and conditions you ll look out for in "GAS" contract specifically. Difference between IOCs and NOCs. As for this particular one, some other panels asked their EHs. Panel 3. Tough, old and veterans in the sector. |
Greatken007:Your observations n comments are well noted. However the innocent you mentioned is very safe. Thank you |
Fremanb4:Please initial message wasn't intended 2 bring trouble for anyone here nor give anyone high BP. Please unquote me immediately and edit as I have deleted mine. |
Jarus:Edited So sorry Jarus. I meant no harm. But seeing how pipu take things here. I have infact deleted everything. But what was posted initially was neither a theory nor a scam. I apologise brother. |
I first saw this job post on hotnigerianjobs site I was sad not because of the skills requirement but what HR in Nigeria has turned into these days. They are so lazy to do little research on job skills neccessary for each job grade or category. They just do copy and paste these days from the internet. First it is very obvious that those who compiled the job requirements do not understand much about the field. Even as an experienced hire, it's rare to be perfect in all let alone have all such skills. Secondly, this is a badly done HR job. I want to assume that the HR team meant to imply that the candidate must have at least one, two or three of such skills as a fresh graduate. The job advert is not even well structured. Very abysmal performance by the HR recruiter. A candidate who eventually does have all such skills and knowledge would never accept the salary of a graduate trainee except he/she does not know his worth or value. Lastly, if the HR team involved can not take their time to properly structure an advert for a fresh graduate position and even going further to think that one of the recruitment supervisors approved that this advert be made public, what is the probability they would even have time to go through the CVs or understand what is in your resume On the contrary, I am not assuming that there cant be at least one fresh graduate in Nigeria who would have a little idea of all those skills and it's application including being an expert in at least two domain language but my take is this, fresh graduate pay is bullshit for such an applicant and we should all note this is a poorly done HR job. Situations like this tells alot about the culture of an organisation. Maybe probably they are slave drivers. Just saying tho and I stand to be corrected. Even as a job applicant you should be scared if perhaps they are for real that they do know what they are doing and want you as fresh graduate to be able to apply all those skills when employed. The most annoying part is this, banks in Nigeria are very quick to copy each other. I can bet it's just a matter of time before we see other banks following suite. Fidelity Bank!!!! Hian..... |
I weep for this nation. I remember during the early Jonathan administration days, the northern leaders/elders denied the presence of boko haram and even denied their existence. They claimed it was the Nigerian soldiers who who were on a disguised and disillusioned massacre spree and hence Jonathan was given an ultimatum to call off the tanks and battalions in the north or he gets impeached. Later on boko haram grew in strenght and wrecked havoc in the North. The same denial process by these northern leaders has just begun. Once beaten twice shy. This will not happen again. If these so called fulani herdsmen are left unchecked via the deceit of the northern elders to the presidency, they 'll grow in strenght and continue theirs evils. Pple will be forced to take up arms against them and these may lead to heightened civil unrest. |
It's obvious not everyone was called yesterday , just few people were called and asked if they would be available for TS in owerri and it also seems not everyone got SMS yesterday evening for April 6th TS but more people got the SMS than for the calls. Implication may be that TS is in batches. Hopefully the rest will get their own respective dates and SMSes before next weekend. I believe everyone will still get SMS and hopefully venues will be communicated in due course as dey said. As Prophet sugaristic don talk am say stream 2 na Lagos TS venue. I ll fold my arms and watch if this her 2nd prophecy go come true. Lol. |
That babe must obviously be a very bold brilliant chap, scaling the recruitment processes of those companies is not easy. Based on the mail, her mindset about the auditing business before securing her first with Deloitte was totally different but on entering she discovered it was a different ball game, she decided to check out on a second by going to PWC but discovered that it's either same or worse, she voiced out her frustration. Despite her rascally or unprofessional attitude, there are some lessons to be learnt - (1)employers should learn to match the right employee with the right job. Not because someone is brilliant doesn't mean he ll end up being your best employee, what if the employee doesn't have interest in the job, he won't perform to the maximum and might turn out to be a frustrated employee. Don't get me wrong here, that sector still boast of some of the best and brightest brains. (2) Anybody who has done auditing or into auditing will confirm that classroom work is totally different from real life. I remember one of the courses in ICAN, "financial reporting and ethics", both in the classroom and exam hall back then, they were always shouting the word "integrity" but on my first experience on the job, I discovered its not always so. I won't say more. All in all, auditing and consulting as a career is very interesting but will be interesting only for those who are cut for the job. |
