Good morning House. I am at the verge of getting my first car. I am torn between a Hyundai Sonata 2015 and a Camry 2011. Both cars are Nigerian used however the Sonata hasn't been used for more than a year. The mileage is low. While I am tempted to go for the Camry because of its popularity and the availability of its parts, the Hyundai stands out for me because of its luxury. So I am inclined to go for the Hyundai. Please I need your advice. Is it a car a first time buyer should own? How available is the spare parts? I also hear they are quite expensive. I need advice from people who have used these cars. Thank you. |
More response please |
MStar09:Sorry for my very belated response. I didn't get the job because I did not attend the interview after passing the test. I got into a firm so there was no need to go the interview |
Good Day House. Please I need you all to weigh in on this matter. I am desirous of renting an apartment within proximity to Ikoyi where I work. The problem, however, is that apartments in the Akoka, Onike, Ebute Metta axis are on the high side. Some of the landlords even demand 2 year rent or a year and a half. I saw a place in Ilaje, Bariga which I fancied but I am having second thoughts about the place because of the stories I have heard about Bariga. For those who have stayed in Ilaje, do you think it is an area where someone who is not looking for trouble should stay? What are the drawbacks to staying there? Your quick, objective response will be appreciated. Thank you. |

I will say it depends on the branch of law practise you want to specialize in, and the kind of law firm you find yourself in. If you happen to work in the ivy-league corporate firms on Lagos Island e.g Templars, Aelex, Banwo and Ighodalo etc., you will love the profession. But you must have distinguished yourself in academics for you to be considered e.g a first class in Uni or Law School. But the litigation firms will task you. And many of them without corporate appeal pay peanuts. But litigation is a time- rewarding venture, as you hone your skills in advocacy, clients will pursue you. Many insist ADR is the real thing but I believe Nigerians are not conciliatory by nature. It still get tied up in court litigation. P.S. I am a Lawyer, completed NYSC this year, and I am yet to get a law firm in which to practice. Please help my life, I believe my helper is here. I want to work in 2019. God bless you as you help me |
Dear Organisers of WWTBM
I hope any one of you read this missive, and give
much thought to what I have to intimate you with. It
was Havelock Elli who wrote that in England, there
was a law that when there was reasonable
suspicion that either of two persons might have
committed a crime, the uglier of the two was
probably guilty. According to my lecturer, this law
simply underscored the concept of physiognomy:
Cicero Lombrosso’s theory whereby facial features
of a person was used to delimit his criminal
proclivity.
You see, I am a very young Nigerian and a law
student in my final year. I have just rounded off
studies in criminology, and taken the semester
exams. It enlivens a student when his experience
validates the theories espoused in the classroom. I
was invited by MTN to be part of the studio
audience of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Nigeria
Game Show holding on May 21, 2016. There, I met
a young Ultima Studio personnel with spectacular
dentition and large ears . These are among the
physical features Cicero Lombrosso talked about.
The invite I received mandated that I be at the
studio by 7. AM. I didn’t get there till about 7. 30
AM because of the rain and the attendant traffic
gridlock. I preceded another Ultima Studio
personnel who shepherded three ladies into the
waiting hall. When the guard asked for their invite,
the personnel told the dutiful guard that they were
with him. I submitted myself to the guard’s will, and
when he was duly satisfied I wasn’t a gate crasher,
he let me in.
I wondered what business had they in the studio if
they had no invite? It was nepotistic, I thought to
myself. Then came the time to admit people into
the studio for the programme. The personnel I first
spoke about, on whose shoulders the responsibility
sat, did something interesting. He admitted the
first, second, third and fourth rows of people, then
went to the back, bypassed my row, and admitted
more people. Perhaps, there was a reason for it, I
thought.
I am perpetually optimistic about this country of
mine, Dear old Nigeria. My friends pejoratively call
me a learner. But I don’t mind. Sitting there,
awaiting my turn to go into the studio, shed the
scales from my eyes. From the open conversation
that went on around me, I found out that I was
among a family of young Nigerians whose home
was Ultima studio. They were quite acquainted with
the Ultima studio personnel. They could go into the
studio without any invite to the detriment of the
dejure invitees.
Audience play had become for them a profitable
venture. I reckon, in the next twenty-five years, the
baton of leadership would pass to folks like these;
licking their chops, ready to devour our
commonwealth. But when the number one citizen
says his people are corrupt, well meaning Nigerians
take umbrage! The offending personnel skipped
about, exchanging banter with some of his friends .
Thereafter he announced that all LASU students
signify their presence. I notice people leave the hall
after selection had ended in the interim.
When the studio recording began, they were in
attendance. I watched as his friends followed him
with their eyes; our Lord and Master of our fate. The
selection of people for the afternoon studio
recording was just the same as the morning. I
guess the “Smoky Robinson” audience play
question left many of them thoroughly dissatisfied.
I think only thirteen members won, out of thirty. So
they waited to breeze in for the evening play.
Meanwhile dejure invitees like me had been around
since morning. We watched in bafflement.
That day made me believe one cannot get a thing
done in Nigeria, entering shows like WWTBM,
interview in Government parastatals or registration
in Universities, without breaking a sweat. Selection
presented a contest over which the fittest could
prevail. And prevailing meant shoving, elbowing,
and grappling to enter. Should some of us do that to
get in? The answer is a resounding No! But others
were spoiling for a fight, and before the evening
session began, they charged the ascent of stairs
leading into the studio. It was an act of
protestation. Pandemonium was unleashed.
In the evening studio recording, the friends of
Ultima Studio , owing to the act or omission of the
personnel, still found their way into the studio. I
noted the faces of some of them who had been
inside all day. Indeed, forty of them smiled home
with 10,000 naira.
Now I hereby make my submissions:
It is beyond a shadow of doubt that the personnel
of Ultima Studio connive with these dishonest
Nigerians. Consequent upon that, the audience play
segment should be done away with. This would
stop bona fide invitees from being deprived of their
right to enter. And only those who want to partake
of the show for the fun of it would come.
Furthermore, the money saved from the elimination
of the audience play segment should be used to
increase the grand prize of ten million naira should.
You would agree with me that, in Nigeria, we are in
the days of the tempest . If the questions were less
difficult and the prize increased, I should meet
contestants whose lives MTN impacted, everywhere
I go.
Yours Faithfully. |

I joined when Nigeria recorded its first ever suicide attack and there was a lot of uproar. On Nairaland the comments were intelligent, thought provoking and hilarious. So I came to read the comments then I decided to join. The forum of those days was a place to crack your ribs tho. |
D@op, are you sure the spirit-snake hubby ain't coming back for part 2.. If your story isn't derived from the figments of your imagination, your pastor should have told u that such spirit folks are as jealous as an angry hau sa soldier. But wait ooh. Can we then bravely infer from your narrative that every bedmate of that girl who can't possibly be a virgin has been bitten by her hubby. If true, then not all of her previous lovers would have survived. And Social Media, on a balance of probability, would have carried the news. If untrue, I wonder why your case was special Maybe the snake didn't like the way you were pounding. #my thought |

cococandy:The tragedy of it all is that some ladies, like some quoting me, choose to be repressed by the unfair obligations and expectations foisted on them by society. It is so sickening. |
DrDauda:She will get to appreciate the wisdom in my counsel. |
jackpot:If owning a car will drive away men with frail egos who would wish her to be subservient, then it is a good thing . Emancipate yourself from mental slavery in the coming year. Merry Xmas P. S. I think feminists have their work cut out for them. You need their tutelage |
@Op,please buy a car. In fact, a G-wagon if you like. Buying a car will only chase away weak, insecured and inadequate men, and trust me you don't need such kind of men. What nonsense!( I am a guy, and I am even angry sef.) |
Lord, forgive me. This aboki is ugly |
bioda:Thank you so much. You are a blessing |
Can someone please enlighten me. I find it difficult to communicate a satisfactory answer when it comes to answering the "what are your strength/weakness" question. It simply unsettles me. How do I answer, without giving the impression that I am trying to impress or being dishonest |
I tried again. It has gone. Thanks a lot. Can final year students also apply or is this Bsc/HND embargo absolute? |
shogat:Gmail |
I copied it from here and sent. It still bounced back |

prettythicksme:The reality is there are many visually impaired students or special students doing well academically despite their perceived disability whilst the able-bodied fellows are dropping out cos of dismal grades. So when any of these students graduate, it calls for celebration. |
