The poem is a good piece,enabling the reader to delve into the mind of the poet-persona, without one having to decode what each line means. It is also not devoid of the basic elements of poetry: Content,Form and Effect. Whoever wrote this should be commended because this poem presents a courageous departure from the conventional method of writing poetry as seen in the award-winning poem,Bad Man of The Guest Professor. I think I am going to pen a poem-reply to the poet. |

It seems you guys are fond of foreign writer's works...Well I have read up to fifteen books of Cyprian Ekwensi,all the works of Chimamanda Adichie,then all Chinua Achebe's books except his essays and "A Man of the people..." For the foreign parts. I have read the Sherlock Holmes and Harry Porter's series,all Dan Brown's Works and I am presently onto the books of Sidney Sheldon...I have only read four books by James Hadley Chase...His "more deadly than the male" is a powerful book. |

The commanders provide the tactics,their men prosecute it and win the victory the commander claims,massaging his ego...The combatants are heroes...They live and die when they are told to die...Let men hear the truth: Adekunle or Obasanjo didn't chase Ojukwu out of Biafra,the men under them did...They never had to fire a single shot during the period of the conflict...One thing I find disconcerting about these egoistlcal commanders is that they always want to wear the apparel of victory but in the face of a shameful defeat they apportion blame to their men who followed their instruction and took the heat of battle.... 1 Like |
