Yea, I made a big mistake debating a low-resolution-informed flat earther (I rather would have prefered the best version of flat earth theory: it would have been fun engaging with the person to show other readers how not to do science), there are somethings that you don't debate. I should have completely ignored him when he said gravity is fake. I would also implore Spy360 to let it slide equally; It is pointless. Debating with him dignifies his position, and there are more productive ways to spend time.

As for Roger Penrose, he is a very brilliant theorist. It was him and Stephen Hawking that worked on Blackhole. Should Hawking be alive today, I do not doubt that he would have won the prize as well (I am not so sure how it would have worked out since the maximum amount of people that can receive the prize at a given year is three). Sadly, they do not give Nobel prizes posthumously. I know a bit about Andrea. She is outstanding in articulating difficult concepts to a non-technical audience without given up on accuracy: this shows her level of understanding.

Before now, great Astronomers were mostly ignored by the Nobel prize committee; otherwise, Edwin Hubble should have received the prize twice. This is analogous to the Fields medal award, where pure-mathematicians are mostly awarded as against applied-mathematicians.

The Nobel prize in Physics 2020 has been announced. The price went to three people based on their work on Black holes.
Roger Penrose (Theoretic Physicist), Andrea Ghez (Astronomer), and Reinhard Genzel (Astrophysicist). Penrose was given half of the prize while Andrea and Reinhard shared the other half. It is quite pleasing that astronomy and astrophysics are being recognized.

Now to answer you. The nature of a ball is that it slopes down 369° all around you and this makes the objects slope down below your eye level as they go far away into the horizon. If the earth is a ball curving[b] 8inches/m^2[/b] then one would have to look down into the horizon because the earth is curving down But if the earth is flat and level this makes the nature of the horizon straight and you will have to look straight into the horizon no matter the height you climb the horizon is straight and that is the reality we see in our world.

The human eye see in a triangular manner so objects moving away from you tend to get smaller and smaller as they go away from you until they get to the vanishing point or horizon where they appear to sink below the horizon. This is not because they are sinking but because of the nature of the human eye. If you were to take a telescope and view that object you will get a full view of that object proving they are not going down a curve. Eg check the image below.

The sun moves away from the human eye view and g. ets smaller as it does (depends on the atmospheric conditions) and when it reaches the vanishing point depending on your vantage point it Appears to sink down into The horizon and at this stage if you were to take a zoom camera or to climb unto a higher ground which would expose and allow the view of a farther horizon One can still see the sun again in full view until it is finally gone out of sight due to atmospheric blocking.

The sun is the moving object and not the earth. An evidence of this is the fact that we see it doing so and also the fact that shadows under the sun light move from left to right as the sun moves this is how the ancients were able to tell time using sun and moon dial.

Try the experiment and see if you will get the same result; get a stick and stand it upright, put on your phone light or any other and place it at angle 45°, now. move that light from Left to right and watch how the shadow of that stick also move with the movement of that light.
After that then get a ball place that stick side ways point your light from a distance to that stick on. The ball then rotate the ball to see if you will get the same result.

1. If the earth is flat, what other planetary bodies are flat shaped? It is assumed here that they formed at about the same time and conditions.

2. If the sun and moon are the same size as we see them, how can you account for distances. That is if the sun is that small (a round football) does it imply it is not far away and very reachable.

3. How can you account for differences in time zones, weather, seasons across the earth. It is believed that different places have different longitudes and latitudes which influences the impact of the sun per time.

4. Newton proposed the theories of gravitational pull and push to explain many phenomena you mentioned, Einstein proposed the theory or curved surfaces and relativity. You don't believe in those theories, so how do you explain how water doesn't flow out of the earth's flat surface into bottomless regions and how a stone thrown upwards falls straight downwards towards you.

emilo, I have successfully proved that to "so called" ship,disappearing across the horizon;as a fact for the earth's curvature, to be a lie. Ships disappear not because the earth is curved, we only see them appear to disappear due to perspective. There's no curve that's making ships disappear; our line of end at some particular distance from which,it reaches the vanishing point where we no longer see the ship. If you used a powerful telescope to zoom in in the ship,you'll still see it on a plain. Ships don't disappear because of earth's curvature guys. Look to debunk flat earth theory in 5 seconds, you can do an experiment if you have the resources. A laser beam of light, a ship, and a friend. Let your friend be onshore and with the laser beam. Project the laser beam on the ship and mark the point heavily ( so like shinning a touch light on the ship and marking the point where the light hits the ship). This should be done before the ship sails. You should be on the ship when it sails but your friend should constantly hold the laser beam at that position (perhaps leave it on a table so that he doesn't change the vertical position of the light beam). As the ship sails, you should just observe the projected beam of light on ship. You will observe that there will be a time when the beam of light becomes remarkably higher than the original marked position on the ship. The reason for this is because of the curvature of the earth. Light travels on a straight line, but the ship sails along the curvature of the earth which leads to the vertical displacement. This is the objective TRUTH. Objective TRUTH does not care about your feelings, religion, emotions or delusions.

Note: Do not use Emilo as your friend for the experiment. Now you talk of relativity, well what is relativity? ; This theory postulates that movement is relative to the observer from their different point of view.

Is this true? The answer is a big no.

Einstein came up with his theory of relativity to cover up the shame of the michelson and Morley experiment which proved that the earth does not move.

How did Einstein come up with his theory? Did he go to space to detect and measure any of this? No! How did he detect the motion of the earth and what experiment did he use? The answer is that he did not conduct any experiment but just made the whole thing up from thin air.

If relativity is true then there is no way to establish which is the fact. That is to say if from the vantage point of the earth the sun moves and from the vantage point of the sun the earth moves, then how do you really know which is moving and which is not?

The point here is that relativity is not physics but utter rubbish which cannot be attested to by human common sense and experience.

Since human senses can tell absolutely when the body is moving past an object and when the body is at rest then the theory of relative movement cannot be found in the real world and so therefore cannot stand as physics it is nonsense.

Have you been in a moving car before? If you have then you will definitely see objects as they past your eyed and you feel that your body is been carried along your sense tell you that you are moving and not those objects even a child knows this.


But we are said to be in a world that moves around on its axis and around the sun and the same time is been carried along with solar system cruising in the milky way at incredible speeds and we feel none of it we don't even see it in the stars. Because if we are moving on the earth then we should not be seeing the same set of stars two nights in a row, we should even be able to see the stars as they move past us , Just like if you are moving in a vehicle from Lagos to sokoto, you will not be seeing the same houses, trees and other objects as you move along from Lagos to sokoto this is common sense. You can only be seeing the same tree and houses if you are stationary.

Why do the zodiacs which are patterned after the stars remain the same? The same stars ancient sailors used to navigate the earth is the same stars people see today. Why is Polaris the north pole star still standing in The north pole? I thought science said that stars are suns of other planets then why are we not moving past this suns of other plant?

The answer is simple " WE ARE NOT MOVING". And it is evidenced in the stars and by the fact that we do not see and feel any movent. Why because it is impossible to be standing upside down and side ways on a ball moving faster than an air craft and the speed of sound.

Ok let me answer your question and try to convince you and anyone that reads this post. If you have taken a course in physics that explained relative motion, you would see how silly (not to offend you) your question is. Let me quickly explain, relativity says as long you are in a non-accelerated reference frame , you will be unable to tell if you are moving or not. So for example if you are in a car moving at a constant velocity of 100km/hr relative to a bystander outside the car; you can argue that it is the car that is stationary and it is the bystander moving at a velocity of 100km/hr. Physics says both you and the bystander are correct. The laws of physics is true for all observers, meaning if you throw a ball up in your car it comes back to you in the same way it does if the bystander throws the ball. Similarly, we are on the surface of an oblate spheroid known as earth (thanks to gravitational forces pulling everything on the surface to its center) and since the globe is spinning at a constant rate of 1000 miles/hr, we on the surface of the earth are also spinning at that rate from the eyes of an observer in space (outside earth). However, from our on perspective, the earth is stationary. Hence, just like Einstein will say, it makes absolutely no sense to ask for the speed of an object because the speed is diffferent for different observers. If a dog is running at 10 km/hr, and I am walking at 5km/hr and you are stationary (0 km/hr), If someone asks both of us for the speed of the dog, our response will be different but both accurate since we are in different reference frames. I will say the dog was running at 5km/hr and you will 10km/hr. Lastly, our intuition is flawed, that is why science exists. Sience is a tool which consist of several objective methods used to probe difficult questions so as to get objective answers that explains complex phenomenon in order to drive an informed democracy.
