In as much as I did not want Argentina to win the Copa America, the antics of the hosts have been shameful, right from the quarterfinals till now. Who can forget Gonzalo Jara getting Cavani sent off after fingering his backside. Cavani's reaction was unprofessional but understandable, even if his father was not under investigation for drunk driving and killing someone. Uruguay ended that match with 9 men. In the semis, Peru had a man sent off and Chile should also have, but the same referee who was harsh on the Peruvians was lenient on them. Then the final fiasco...granted Argentina weren't at their best, but there was still a lot of harsh tackles on Messi and Di Maria who was eventually forced out. In my opinion, it was a case of the hosts must win. Despite the fact that a lot of South American stars light up Europe, this is the reason why the Euros will always be better, because you can be 100% sure that there will be no hanky panky in officiating and less gamesmanship by players. There may be errors, but they are honest mistakes. This is also why, despite the seeming dearth of quality European players of the level of their South American counterparts, especially forwards and strikers, Europe has won the last three world cups, in 3 different continents, the last being in South America itself.

I've played every fm since fm 06. Currently I have fm 14 and 15. I' ve not really gotten into 15, I am still in my second season, I think it is slower, and the fact that you cannot select more than one player and dish out an opposition instruction is annoying. My fm 14 is in 2023 now, and would have been further if not that my previous game, in which I had played more than 5 seasons, got corrupted. In fm 14, I am able to dish out instructions more quickly, and it is more responsive in game play. If for instance I want to apply the same opposition instruction to all my players, I can select all by ctrl A, and do it once, in 15 I have to do it one by one. In both games I am doing well, though 14 is easier for me, maybe because I have a longer association with it. I prefer the transfers in 14 also, simply because it is easier to manoeuvre for really good players without having to break the bank, though it can be high also.

I repeat, the only thing that matters now is that Sanford is one of the largest employers of labour in Nigeria. Do you think a gainfully employed employee of his cares what else he has done that might be wrong? If the refinery were to be completed, and the ripple effect is lower fuel prices and stable electricity, how many people will care how he got his money in the first place. If he was to pack up and go, many Nigerians will lose, including southerners.
mmsen:

Do you honestly believe that one Dangote who, if we're being honest, has done nothing besides import wipes out the economic, political and social retardation that Nigeria has suffered as a result of the likes of Abacha, Babangida and before them fools such as Ahmadu Bello?

There is nothing unique about Dangote, he is the man for the hour but there are others who would have done just as well with the same opportunities and many others who would have done better with similar opportunities to influence government.

Can you not see that if Nigeria were an open market for the most productive Nigerians, and not just those close to the Federal government, then the country would prosper?

Why do you think we still have a unitary method of dividing revenue? Who benefits from such a silly formula? Why do unproductive Nigerian states steal from productive states by way of 'federal allocation'? Do Dangote's actions wipe away the deficit caused by such policies?
Crime / Re: Businessman & Wife Shot And Butchered In Front Of Their Kids In Katsina by Oseite: 7:38pm On Jul 03, 2015
How he got his start is not the issue in question. And I do not deny that he could and should have done more for Nigerians, not just fellow northerners. The fact remains that there are a significant amount of southerners who have benefited from him. And if the refinery is completed, more southerners will benefit as it is in the south. Even now as it is under construction, majority of the workers there are from the south.
mmsen:

Remember how he got his start, he was born into a family that has made money from the slavery of the majority northern population.

It was his uncle that gave him an import license which he sold, it was his uncle who gave him $500,000 to start his business ventures.

He went from selling import licenses to selling other government owned/restricted commodities - such as rice, fish, wheat and cement. I would understand and respect him as an industrialist if he was creating these industries in Nigeria, the truth is he has not.

It was only after he was able to use his political connections to push other traders out of business that he acquired so much wealth that he began to seriously invest in production of cement.

Dangote's presence does not wipe out the millions of poor northerners who have no hope of pushing forward because they have been denied the right to a worthwhile education because of the religion/culture of the society that they are born into. Dangote's presence does not excise the problem of child marriage, VVF and the general abuse of girls in the worst parts of Nigeria.

Also, lets not forget the Ebola scare where it took a foreigner (Bill Gates) to invest in protective measures in Nigeria before he got it into his head to pledge some money to screening potential Ebola victims. Why did he not realise that he has a responsibility to protect his work force and market?

Why do you not agree with excision?

Should it not at least be used as a means of coercing better behavior from the local and state governments in those areas?
Imagine if someone like Dangote was not a Nigerian, imagine how many people who he has helped to become stable won't have benefited. Remember he is from the far north...

Sentiments. That is the problem with Nigerians. How can you make a case for continued existence with people of completely different thinking?

North has no business whatsoever with South. They are better off separate.

The Northerners are leeches.

You are generalizing. I know Northerners who think the same way I do. I also know people who are supposed relatives but their ideologies stink. Education is the problem. BTW, do you know how many southerners owe their livelihood to Dangote, a northerners. Currently, he is building a refinery in the south, not the North, when it is complete and even now when under construction, who are the immediate beneficiaries? Meanwhile some southern politicians bought or built refineries outside the country. I won't name names...

With all due respect, you've just shown why people fail exams. I said yam production was better in the south, why post that link? Funnily enough, if you bothered to even read that article and not skim through, you will see it is said that although majority of yam in Nigeria is grown in the rainforest, of which the south west constitutes a big part, the single largest yam growing state is venue, which last I checked, is not in the south. Why don't you paste data on grains like rice and maize, if you are so sure they are grown commercially in the south. You should never allow yourself to be impaled on your own sword.

Nigeria does not need a complete break up.

Only the far north (north east and the north west) needs to be reformed or excised from the union - the other regions are pretty reasonable.

Afterall, it's in the middle belt where Fulanis are murdering farmers daily.
Reformation, I agree with, not excision

Racial abuse is not just what you think, if you personally have been abused with some racial comments I can assure you that you will never taken it the way you are taking it now. This is a very serious issue around the globe now. If someone call you gorilla. Don't you know what it means, not just you is being called gorilla, the entire black race is being racially abuse. It's a very serious and sensitive issue. For instance, a white man visited your area and people were excited seeing white man, maybe your mum who happened to be there offer him a hand shake but unfortunately this man refused openly to sake your mum, maybe a press who was around asked him why he refused handshake and the only reason he could give is how can I shake gorilla right in your presence what will you do or say? 'I don't care I guess'. Think about it.

It is a thing of the mind. Does the fair person who is called yellow pawpaw consider himself a fruit, or does the very dark skineed person called a black maria consider himself such. If you observe in Europe, Africans don't take being called monkeys as personally as African americans, why, because it is not in our minds that we are descendants of slaves. Of course there are exceptions...but if I am black, then I won't get upset when I am called black by a white man , and if I am called a monkey, I will simply call you something else. The problem is when you deny me opportunities or treat me harshly on account of my colour, and that is the subset of racism called racial discrimination

[b] I love this comment but I still the outcry not because of inferiority complex but because so many people have been killed and subjected to unfair treatment because they are black.[b\]
There is a difference between racism and racial discrimination. As long as there are different races there will be racism. If you are my friend and then for some reason I am upset with you, I will probably insult you in a way I feel will pain you, which will probably be in a way in which you are different. In fact, even in jest, I can refer to a friend as 'a white fool', similarly to the way one calls a fair skinned person 'yellow pawpaw' which does not mean you consider him an edible fruit.
Racial discrimination is the problem, because that means you are denying someone an opportunity because of their colour, or treating them differently

When th:iefnubu has gone to do collabo...

I'll tell u what I told Oseite the south is better than the north in everything... Especially the SW...

SW doesn't need Nigeria... I don't know why th:iefnubu and others are not calling for secession..
I agree, that currently, the north doesn't really pull its weight in contribution to the national cake, but do you really think breaking up will be the best. The south west is a rainforest region, there is no large deposit of oil, ondo's is not enough, and as I stated earlier. the north has the better arable land. We should just learn to coexist without ethnicity and religious bias, then we will be going somewhere, and of course, resource control should be adopyed, so that every state can be in charge of its resources, and then remit a percentage to the federal govt. It will mean some states will be richer than others, but surely that is the essence of a federation.

I have been to every state in Nigeria except from those in northeast.

You might have been to every state in the country, but I doubt it would have been under the same circumstances. For instance, if I go to Edo state and do not stay in Benin, but in a village, then I go to Oyo state and stay in Ibadan, it will be foolhardy of me to compare both states' poverty levels, for what I hope are obvious reasons.

Why should I care if someone calls me a gorilla, when I know I am not. As far as I am concerned only someone who is disabled, deaf, dumb, blind, et al should be upset if he or she is in anyway insulted, because they had their way they would be able. If someone insults me because of my skin tone, as far I as I am concerned he or she is just being silly, and I won't feel bad. The only reason to feel bad is IF I WISHED I WAS WHITE, which I don't. If the tin pain you too much insult the guy back, pure and simple

You are wrong, actually the south has the weather for yam. The north has the weather for grains...rice, corn, millet, sorghum et al. Grains are the staple of our diet. Go and do your research...even in social studies we were taught this and shown it on the atlases we used

No, I haven't, and I do not deny that Rivers is richer than Osun, and that the richest man in Rivers is most probably richer than that of Osun. This, however, is a study about poverty indexes. An example is USA, which is the richest country in the world, but who on the poverty index is below countries like Finland and even Canada.

Igbos business, some, are in other parts of Nigeria. Yet Lagos is still what it is. Stop allocating its success to 4X4 shops. Lagos would still be what it is today with or without Igbos. But Igbos would need the SW to be economically viable.
Do you honestly think Igbo businesses are limited to 4x4 shops? I'm sure you're joking. I can say for instance that Nollywood, which is a major contributor to Nigeria's rebased GDP, is more or less run by Igbos, and domiciled in Alaba.

My point is that while Lagos would still be economically viable if Igbos weren't here, it would not be the commercial nerve it is today. In fact, if not that in the 60s, Igbos were persecuted in the north, Kano would be very close to Lagos in terms of business development

Your interpretation, dear. Lagos' economy was doing well before the immigration of Igbos. And Lagos is not the only Yoruba state they are located. Igbos need the SW to survive economically in Nigeria. Else their business would be abundant in the SE.
When did the Igbos immigrate to Lagos if I may ask? Igbos have been in Lagos since the dawn of the 20th century. There would have been even more Igbo owned businesses if not for the civil war and the ridiculous 20 pound policy in its aftermath, followed by the rapid indigenization, which 20 pound igbos could not take advantage of
