God promises to show mercy on whoever he chooses. I pray he will count you as one of the beneficiaries of His mercy as regards this recruitment process. God want people who can acknowledge Him as the one working in their life. This ur post is a reflection of this. Rejoice in advance. JoeEINSTEIN: Going through PwC threads year by year all the way back from 2013 till 2017 has given me hope, faith and motivation.
Seeing how people who didn't expect it scaled through the different stages kindled hope in me. Reading how ogas now, like Funkystanl, TheRealAdonye, Ednut1 began and waded through (some tried more than once) to finally receive that success mail has motivated me and makes me think this is possible.
I hope to give my testimony one day too, and I hope this moniker will be a reminder and source of motivation too for the coming generations of PwC applicants that they can do it too.
Waiting for OPQ link. Lemme go an' apply everything I have read and learnt in preparation for OPQ and interview. It shall be done!!!
P. S: God, if you get me into PwC this year, I promise to give you half of my first salary. |

Lol. In this kind of situation, no pay is too small. My first job after graduation paid 40k monthly. I was staying at Dopemu and the office was at Obalende. You can do the calculation with regards to monthly cost of transportation. God has changed my story though. 2+ years. I am selecting interviews to attend. I turned down offer of 230k/month net. That was last month. I was already ACCA chartered when i started the first job o. Didn't mind the pay. Irrespective of the pay, graduates should just engage in job that will add value to them for a start. Then continue praying to God. He's faithful and rewards the diligents. EsvNwoye: Like what pay exactly for a start? |

What some excellent graduates failed to understand is that, you don't have to get big company's offer before you to get started. There are small companies all around. They are ready to offer you the experience. The pay might not be encouraging though. The companies will offer you hand-on experience that would eventually land you good jobs. |

Like i told someone yesterday. Job recruitment test nowadays may not be a yardstick to determine intelligence or level of IQ. Candidates now practice over and over again just to pass the test. And some ignorant recruiter still make use of these generic testing format to test small number of candidate meant to be assessed for a specific role. I don't get. What is the objective of such assessment. |

Well I get you. It’s good to test those aspects. I’m just concerned that GMAT and Psychometric test are now being taught. As such, passing it may be as a result of practice and not intelligence. God should just help us. There’s no rigid way of getting effective candidate for a role. It’s cool to be flexible atimes. I’ve gone for an interview where computer was given to work on excel. They knew the role requires good knowledge of excel and they probably don’t have provision for too much of training. Candidate may fail GMAT but still perform wonderfully well on the job. The test should address the need of the role if specific. However, GMAT could be a good way to shortlist when you have numerous candidate. Continue with the good work. ephbe: Your point is understood
You are forgetting that employers dont employ you because you have studied a program related to the Job opening rather, they employ only those who will add value to them, of what use is an accountant that can use all account packages but lacks communication and self management skills to the company whereas there is an OND holder, who probably studied secretarial studies with great committment and motivation, and a damn good IQ. Who do you think they would employ
The GMAT and the Psychometric tests are jst IQ based test to know how knowledgeable the applicants are.
This is why companies have different levels of interview starting with the aptitude test first.
Whatever knowledge they require of you on the job doesnt need to be written, they would rather ask you during interview. That is why there is something called On-the-Job-Training. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Vacancy In An Oil & Gas Servicing Firm, Ajah Lagos by oshdam2015: 5:00pm On Mar 22, 2018 |
Now judge yourself. Is GMAT testing preparation of account? Use of excel? We know the people you are talking about. Now listen, a smart engineer that is practicing accounting can never be compared to a smart accountant who has always been an accountant... There is difference. We have people that are not engineers supervising engineering work effectively after some training. Stop trying to justify the faulty assessment. GMAT and Psychometric test are usually used for graduate trainees who can be deployed to any unit of the organization. You are specific about employing an accountant here. Why then GMAT ? . misturib: Do you also know that lots of accounting graduates can't prepare a simple excel sheet. That is why the profession has been taken over by engineers mostly who do their ican exams and other professional courses in accounting |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Vacancy In An Oil & Gas Servicing Firm, Ajah Lagos by oshdam2015: 1:25pm On Mar 22, 2018 |
That is why we get it all wrong. Have you wondered why companies with accountants still engaged accounting consulting firms to solve complex accounting transaction. They employ based on general knowledge using general testing methodology. GMAT or psychometric test is okay if it is test alongside job specific test. Most especially for some roles. Using them as the sole test for some test is not wise because those roles require certain expertise to be effective. ephbe: You dont get it do you? Have you ever wondered why organizations use GMAT or Psychometric tests as some call it as basis of employment?
Function specific jobs dont require function specific test oga Any1 with d right set of mind can perform job based functions because every job comes with instructions and manuals Now how do we set aside those that can read and understand the instructions and manuals from those that cant?
Why do you think some companies do profiling of staff before employing them. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Vacancy In An Oil & Gas Servicing Firm, Ajah Lagos by oshdam2015: 8:43am On Mar 22, 2018 |
Mr Employer, and how does GMAT score translates to good performance on the job. The fact that things are done in a particular way doesn't mean that is the best way. The company is recruiting for an accountant, what is wrong with function specific test? ephbe: Dont knw how well you have experience of nigerian youths, just so you know, the employer has interviewed over 20 graduates and trust me, they all scored less than 15 in GMAT of 50 questions. What do you make of that? I only took the liberty to drop the advert on nairaland perhaps the knowledgeable ones could pick it up The youths themselves, sometimes are not just employable If you wow an employer, then you shld be proud to bargain your salary because you know your worth.

Even in Nigeria, universities don't accept HND for straight Masters, how come it's happening in USA. Just curious. bonjelow: Hello Everyone, I am a fresh graduate from a reputable Federal Polytechnic in Nigeria, I graduated in 2017 and I am supposed to go for youth service this year (2018 Batch A Corps) which will commence soon. But I have an issue bothering me which I need a good advice on.
Last year 2017 my sister who is in USA for close to 12 years wanted me to come and hustle abroad but it's not easy for youth to go there but through schooling, so she helped me to find a good public University to do Masters, I have done the necessary processing and I have been offered an admission for the Fall Semester starting August 2018, my Visa has also been granted.
The issue on ground now is that I want to have the NYSC certificate, probably if I can runs it as a ghost Corper and get the certificate on my behalf or if an exemption can be possible.
Please I need your sincere advice. Thanks. |

Career › You Are An Entrepreneur by oshdam2015(op): 9:02am On Mar 06, 2018 |
After all, you are an entrepreneur. Your career and expertise is your business. Just like you can substitute products, employers would easily move on to other service providers if they are not satisfied with your services. The people who go into provision of goods and service out of passion and interest don’t blow their whistles. The term has however been rendered meaningless by those who, out of frustration and failure in the job market, tagged themselves entrepreneurs. Don’t let anyone make u think less of yourself. If you can be successful in real term as an employee, chances are that you would be successful when you decided to package and brand the service independent of an employer. After all, tell them to define entrepreneurship. |

He should factor in, at least, 1 hour right?. It is okay, but don't forget that they will require you to attend an interview during working hour. And in most cases, they will delay you. Most of them don't even commence the interview at the stated time. So they help you in wasting working hours that your current employer will pay you for. femi4: They are not harsh, if you are going for an interview, you have to factor in at least 1hr for unseen circumstances. I m sure your friend didn't include that in his preparation |
