AGEDIGA FELICITATES WITH DELTA AT 29.*

The Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics (ED,PRS) on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Amb. Shadrack Lucky Agediga has felicitated with the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Deltans in general as they celebrate the 29th anniversary of the creation of the State.

In his message to commemorate the day, Amb. Agediga said, God in His infinite mercies has used Governor Okowa to maintain peace and unity in the State despite the different ethnic nationalities in the State, resulting in a plethora of projects in the State.

While recognizing the contributions of past governments in the State, Amb. Agediga enjoined all Deltans not to relent in their support for Governor Okowa because, he is ready to do more for them.

"It is evidently clear that Dr. Okowa has spread development across the 25 Local Government Areas in the State in line with his Stronger Delta initiative and more are yet to come," he said.

While commending the Governor for his developmental strides, Amb. Agediga also appreciated Deltans in general for, without their cooperation, it would have been difficult for this feat to be achieved by the Governor, urging them to continue in this unity and peace that can only bring more developmental projects to them.

Okowa Doesn't Believe in Thuggery, Idion Tells Edo APC.

Executive Assistant to the Delta governor on Political Matters (Non Indigenes ) and renowned community leader Rtn Peter Idion has described statement by the All Progressive Congress APC in Edo State against Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State on alleged importation of arms and persons believed to be thugs into Edo State as unreasonable.

Idion who made this know In Agbor while reacting to APC allegation noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa doesn't believe in thugs before winning election.

According to Idion, Governor Okowa is a grassroot Politician known as "Master Planner".

He noted that the All progressive Congress APC is scared of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa political achievements including governance.

"Governor Okowa is a Christian and don't believe in Thugs.

Dr Genevieve Commends Delta Government Over Succour to returnees from Lebanon.

The Senior Special Assistant on International Affairs and Special Duties to the Delta State Governor, Dr Genevieve Mordi has commended the Delta State Government over Succour to returnees from Lebanon.

Dr Genevieve made the commendation known in asaba during the presentation of cash to returnees from Lebanon.

She noted that the Delta State Government over the years has always given succour to returnees which has repositioned them into becoming a better citizens

Speaking further , she said none of the returnees will be abandoned noting that the State Government has taking a decision of rehabilitating returnees.

Dr Genevieve Mordi also called on returnees not to disappoint the State Government rather make use of the financial relief given to them .

The Delta State Government has commenced
Rehabilitation of returnees from Lebanon.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State represented by the Chief of Staff Olorogun David Edevbie disclosed this at the State Government house Asaba while presenting financial support to returnees from Lebanon.

The Governor admonished the returnees to utilized the opportunity given to them by acquiring skills.

The Senior Special Assistant on International Affairs and Special Duties to the Delta State Governor, Dr Genevieve Mordi during the presentation noted that the returnees were flown back from Lebanon through the efforts of the International Organization on Migration in conjunction with Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.

Youth Day: Run away from cultism, Scott tells youths

A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain in Delta state and Ughelli North chairmanship aspirant, Olorogun Udu Omo Scott, has urged Delta youths to shun cultism and all forms of criminality as the world celebrates 2020 International Youth Day.

Scott, who is a National youth Ambassador, Special Assistant to the Vice President National Youth council South South on Diaspora Affairs made this known in Ughelli on Tuesday.

He noted that cultism is dangerous to humanity and should not be supported by the youths in any guise.

According to Ossai , Skill Acquisition enable individuals to be self reliant, and well productive.

This was part of decisions reached at the seventh virtual Excutive Council (EXCO) meeting attended by 47 members which was presided over by the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

In a post EXCO briefing, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu said that the state government would embark on enumeration exercise with a view to determining properties that would attract tax.

According to him, tax income that would be generated from the property tax would help the state government to execute projects that would positively impact on the socio-economic lives of residents of the state.

The Commissioner disclosed that EXCO gave approval for a number of road projects to be executed in the state in its determination to deepen the Stronger Delta Agenda of the state government.

He listed the roads to be constructed to include Okwatata Street in Uvwie and its adjoining streets, Aliohen Road, Ute-Okpu in Ika North East Local Government and remedial works on Udu Bridge in Udu Local Government Area of the state.

"A number of issues relating to the improvement of the economy of the state at a time like this, were brought forward, considered and approved by the state Executive Council.

"There were some other issue that borders on social aspect of the society such as the approval of some amendment of certain laws that regulate the appointment of traditional rulers in some communities.

"Today at EXCO meeting, approval was given for the construction of Okwatata Street in Uvwie which, also, has adjoining streets to be constructed by the Warri/Uvwie/Environs Dedevelopment Agency.

"We, also, have approval for the construction of Aliohen Road, Ute-Opku community in Ika North East Local Government Area which would link a number of communities in the area," Aniagwu added.

To improve the state economy, the Commissioner said that the state government is to access a N10 billion naira credit facilities from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for agricultural productivity which would attract a single digit interest rate.

Aniagwu pointed out that the repayment of the CBN facility would be shouldered by the state government and two private sector investors, stressing that the state government needs 2,507 hectares of land to go into large scale cassava production.

He emphasised that 1,007 hectares of land has been acquired, just as he said that government needed wide expanse of land to actualize the project expected to be established close to Oghara and Abraka in Ethiope West and Ethiope East Local Government Areas of the state respectively.

To make potable water available to Deltans, the Commission said, the state government is to collaborate with the federal government in the execution of water projects in the three senatorial districts under the P-WASH programme where it (the state government) would provide the sum of N295 million as its counterpart fund.

The Commissioner, also, disclosed that the state EXCO approved the appointment of Obi Solomon Ezechiyelugo as the traditional ruler of Ashama community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state while it equally ractified the position of Odiologbo of Oyede to Ovie of Oyede in Isoko North Local Government Area.

At the virtual EXCO meeting, Governor Okowa directed all Commissioners to embark on inspection of all ongoing projects in their various ministries to ensure that projects were executed in line with contractual agreement.

As the world marks International Day against Drug Abuse, The Senior Special Assitant to Delta State Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Olorogun. Samson Gordons Okomitie has kicked against drug abuse.

Gordons noted that drug abuse has shortened lives across the country.

"I will never support drug abuse because it has negetive effect

As at today we have lost alot of our youths as a result of drug abuse .

Drug abuse must be our daily preaching for the purpose of saving more lives

We are unsafe in this country if drug abuse keep rising
