Sports / Arsenal Officially Announce Signing Of Gabriel Magalhães by OTayobami(m): 4:11pm On Sep 01, 2020
Arsenal have completed the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille in a deal worth up to £27million. The central defender becomes Mikel Arteta's second major arrival of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal have seen off competition from Everton, Manchester United and Napoli for Magalhaes, who completed a medical last week ahead of signing a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 22-year-old who will wear our number 6 shirt joins fellow Brazilian Willian in joining the Gunners this summer. The former Chelsea winger arrived on a free earlier in mid-August after his deal at Stamford Bridge expired.

Arsenal have long been hampered by defensive frailties but appear to be a more solid proposition under Arteta, who took charge last December.
Magalhaes' arrival coupled with William Saliba's return from a season-long loan spell at St-Etienne means a long-term pairing is there to be formed in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Arsenal have also used a three-at-the-back tactic under Arteta, and Gunners legend Martin Keown believes Magalhaes is the perfect recruit for both systems.
"Well I sincerely hope so," Keown said on BT Sport.
"He's really strong, quick, left-footed player.
"I saw him play against Chelsea for Lille last season, I went out to watch him. Magnificent player, I think he's the future.

Health / Thousands Attend Pool Party In Wuhan, China, The City Where COVID-19 First Emerg by OTayobami(m): 2:59pm On Aug 18, 2020
CNN- It was ground zero in the coronavirus pandemic and underwent the world's first and arguably strictest lockdown.
Now, the central Chinese city of Wuhan appears to have moved on from the virus, as thousands of revelers gathered in an open air water park for an electronic music festival without any masks or social distancing measures in sight.
Over the weekend, the Wuhan Maya Beach Water Park was filled with partygoers in swimsuits bunched together shoulder to shoulder, waving to the beat of the music while cooling down in hip-high water; others relaxed on inflatable rubber tubes that packed the pool to the brim, with little space to float around.
The crowded party scene remains unthinkable in many parts of the world still grappling with the deadly virus. More than 21 million people have been infected across the globe, with tens of thousands of new cases reported every day in the United States, Brazil and India.
But in Wuhan, life has gradually returned to normal since the metropolis of 11 million people in Hubei province lifted a stringent 76-day lockdown in early April. The city hasn't reported any new cases since mid-May.
The Wuhan Maya Beach Water Park reopened in late June, but more than a month of seasonal rain had discouraged crowds from turning out. The number of visitors in early August only accounted for half of the level in the same period last year, according to Hubei Daily, a provincial Communist Party mouthpiece newspaper, citing a manager at the park.
Currently, the water park receives an average of 15,000 daily visitors during weekends, and is offering half-price discounts to some visitors, Hubei Daily reported.

Premier League action returns on September 12 and fans have been teased with a 'leaked' list of opening day fixtures. Last season's action, which was interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic, has only just finished.
However, attention has already turned to next season, which begins next month.
And eagle-eyed fans have spotted a mistake on the Premier League website, which appears to confirm the opening day fixtures.
Fantasy Premier League were releasing the prices of star players throughout Saturday.
Fans flocked to the FPL website to select their team for next season.
Once players picked their squad, the website appeared to confirm the fixtures for the opening day.
However, there are doubts whether the games are correct due to both Manchester United and Manchester City being at home.
The standout match, if correct, is United vs Arsenal.
The Red Devils will host the Gunners at Old Trafford on the opening day of next season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men, who finished third last season, are hoping to challenge for the Premier League title this time out.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will be desperate to finish in the top four and secure Champions League football.
Elsewhere, Chelsea will host Southampton as Tottenham welcome Aston Villa to north London.
Premier League champions Liverpool will travel to West Ham, while Manchester City face Crystal Palace.
Newly promoted Leeds will host Newcastle in their opening fixture upon their return to the Premier League.
West Brom and Fulham were also promoted from the Championship, with the Baggies facing Burnley and the Whites travelling to Everton.

Sports / Arsenal Announce Willian Signing by OTayobami(m): 10:04am On Aug 14, 2020
Arsenal FC officially announce first summer signing Willian Borges Da Silver on a free transfer from Chelsea.

The 32-year-old forward has a wealth of experience and has made more than 600 club appearances in a career spanning 13 seasons.

Willian started at Brazilian side Corinthians, before joining Shakhtar Donetsk in August 2007. In his six years there, he won four Ukrainian Premier League titles and the Uefa Cup in 2009. Four years later, he briefly signed for Anzhi Makhachkala before joining Chelsea, winning the Premier League and League Cup in his second season in England.

Throughout his seven years at Chelsea, he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Europa League. He made 339 appearances, with 63 goals and 56 assists in that time.

“I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us," Mikel Arteta said. "We have been monitoring him for the past few months, we had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfielder and the winger positions [and] he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in three or four different positions. He has the experience of everything in the football world but to still have the ambition to come here and contribute to bring the club where it belongs. I have been really impressed with all the talks I have had with him and how much he wanted to come.”

Willian has made 70 appearances and has scored nine goals for Brazil, making his international debut in 2011. He has since represented his country at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, the 2015 Copa America, the Copa America Centenario, and the 2019 Copa America where he was a key member of the squad that lifted the trophy on home soil.

Technical director Edu said: “I know him very well, since a long time ago because we've been working together for the Brazilian national team and of course I was following him because he played for another club. He has a lot of fantastic attributes as a person, as a football player of course, his character. I'm 100 per cent sure that everybody in the dressing room, the fans, myself and Mikel will enjoy having Willian in our side.“

Willian will wear the number 12 shirt.

The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
