Family / Re: Urgent!!! Can She Go Ahead With Her Wedding? by otilowaju(f): 3:49pm On Aug 17, 2012 |
Ujujoan: My thots too! Who were the family members that agreed to the fixed date when the father was still saying 'No' and those people could not placate the man to support his daughter? How could the bride to be just 'escape' on 'clarion call' for so long, not bothering how her special day would be, and even had the effrontery to be 'heavily pregnant' when she has not 'settled' with the man that would hand her over to her groom, only to resurface 2/3 days to her day of joy feeling cool? If the story is true (which I doubt), the lady in question does not need any special emmisary to break the news of her dad's death, she has made her choice from the beginning. |

Family / Re: How Do U Refer To Ur Childs Genital Organ When You Talk To Them. by otilowaju(f): 12:29pm On Jul 17, 2012 |
I once asked the same question on this forum. We finally settled for 'peepee' https://www.nairaland.com/393526/childs-name-privates#5454290 tobechi74: START A GOOD FOUNDATION BY TELLING THE TRUTH. It's not 'NOT TELLING THE TRUTH' NAH, even adults don't call it the real name when communicating among ourselves. @Tobechi, would you tell your wife/wife-to-be something like this 'Baby, let me kiss your v'agin.a' Wouldn't you rather say something like 'Baby, let me kiss you down there' or something more like it maclatunji: Funny names! I think people should just call them their real names and teach their children that those places are very private and they shouldn't talk about them in public or allow people to touch them there.
Yes, the names are funny but I still strongly believe children should call them coded though funny names. |
Family / Re: Gift Ideas For My Child's Teachers by otilowaju(f): 4:04pm On Jul 12, 2012 |
(1)
It's wrong to buy gifts to your children's teacher because indirectly, they might favor your children over the rest of the non giving students. In America, it's really frowned upon. Please dont! A teacher's duty is to educate their students and you have already done your duty by paying thier school fees which is actually their salary.
(2) It's schools' end-of-year again and as usual teachers except gift items from parents of their students. My daugher has passed through several teachers and has many of them as friends (apart from her current class teacher). I'm not too buoyant myself so I'm wondering what to give that won't create hole in my purse. Anyone has a suggestion on a moderate note? I've given textiles (tye and dye) and those tall stainless tea cups (used in offices) in the past. Thanks as you give your suggestion, and pls note, my budget is N1k maximum per person. (1) In the school under discussion, one teacher does not teach the same child twice so long the child is promoted to the next class so there's no room for favoritism (2) 'End-of-year' means the action is being done (proposed) after the teacher has taught your child since the beginning of the session/year to the end so its not bribery which is usually given in order to get a favour. Well, this is Naija and such things are common and not out of place. Thanks anyways. 1 Like |

[ quote author=horny4u]Customised leather wallet with their name written on it.
Thanks, horny4u. My friends didn't find the wallets appealing but I checked the site all the same and fell in love with their shoes & bags. Copied their contact details and am gonna visit their showroom on one of these days. True, I love those shoes/bags and they are quite affordable. tobechi20: Hmmm...let me try You must have attended Evening School [ quote author=Vikin]You guys have started Abi. Stop buying these teachers gift! That was how they gave me 25 th position out of 35 people because my parent didn't get gifts for them. That was my first time in that school at the age of 8yrs. In my present the first position was a girl who they popular know her mother as chAir lady.
It's not bribe oh, its just a way of appreciating the teacher(s) who taught your child successfully for a whole session. 4 Likes |

Politics / Re: Pix Of Ibadan Flood by otilowaju(f): 11:28am On Aug 29, 2011 |
You guys should try to be objective in your reasoning. The simple fact that the poster presented poor images of the flood does not mean the effect of the reported flood ahould be underplayed. If anyone of you cared to listen to news or read the papers you would have known that what happened in Lagos was a child's play compared to that of Ibadan where several lives were lost and properties damaged on Saturday. We now decided to leave leprosy unattended to and are giving ringworm so much care (e fi ete sile e nwo lapalapa), quarelling and cursing one another over poor photography and blah-blah. It wasn't even the poster that brought the topic to the front page in the first instance. I tire for nairalanders o! |
