The military authorities are arresting miscreants in the city of Port Harcourt and calling them militants.

With the closure of the Port Harcourt International Airport (the only functional one in the niger delta), NEPA (forget PHCN) seems to have diverted electricity supply from that area to God knows where. The University of Port Harcourt (the only federal institution in the area) which is on the same line as the airport has been thrown into darkness. Infact, I am posting this reply using a laptop whose battery life remains about 15 minutes because there has not been electricity. It may not come as a surprise, the increase in violence not just in the Niger Delta but most of Nigeria because of non delivery of democracy dividend 7 years post 1999 (Inspite of the billions of dollars they have been collecting). Darkness has been very instrumental to the success of such activities as bank robberies, home robberies and maybe kidnapping. Until projects by the three tiers of government leave the pages of corrupt media organizations - NTA (number 1), there will continue to be revolutionary responses. What has started in the Niger Delta and the East can be replicated in the West and North with damning consequences. If Hizbollah that has no oil blocs can give each family $12000, then our politicians are without excuse.

This Isreal - Lebanon debacle is quite multifaceted. Lebanon has said they won't disarm Hizbollah - who by the way are continuing their state in a state policy by dishing out dollars on CNN to some people whose homes were bombed. The UN led by Annan is now talking with tongue in cheek that the International Force will not engage in War against Lebanon, Isreal or Syria. Based on this pronouncements the European nations which pledged troops have suddenly developed cold feet. Both Isreal are Hizbollah are currently being resupplied with advanced weaponry so who is deceiving who? This whole madness will continue until dooms day so we better focus our attention on our dear country and hope that the crises helps to push up the price of oil and that our leaders will put such money to good use.

IBB might have done wrong in the past but we need a cunning ex-soldier of northern extraction as president to cement the democratic culture which we are currently building. IBB fits the criteria squarely as a successful coup plotter who withstood all violent take overs. Personally I will support Mr. Duke but the reality of the situation may not allow him be. OBJ also made some mistakes in the past as we all hear in songs rendered by the great Fela but he has on the whole put up a reasonable attempt in his second or is it third coming.

a lot of people are just making noise here. which tier of government has used their allocation prudently? corruption is now an old excuse for non - performance. holding corruption to be zero and assuming Chief Ibori actually undertook gigantic development, he will still not be able to make an impact in the presidential election.
