Take the lady to Pastor Chris Okotie's church at oregun or better still to Pastor T.B. Joshua's synagogue, its amazing the great change that took place in the latter for he it was in Yoruba that he started but look at him now as for the former, he needs no introduction as a wonder even unto the english speaking peoples of england.

His music is quite revolutionary and I enjoy it. Jaga Jaga and Mr. Lecturer topped the charts when they were released. I suspect he is working on his next album and I know it will produce at least one good hit.
Education › Re: Loans For University & Polytechnic Students in Nigeria? by otokx(m): 11:14am On Dec 03, 2005
Tuition fees are being re-introduced in Nigerian Universities as a way of making them automous, the new intakes into UniPort are paying nothing less than fifty thousand naira under such headings as acceptance fees, school fees, medicals, laboratory, hostel, ICTC etc, Giving scholarships or loans will be a good way of helping those who are inteligent but have no resources to further their education.

@kenflavor, do you know that some nigerian workers insist on having opening/morning prayers everyday at the, place of work, some even go as far as having midday/afternoon prayers and closing/evening prayers. I heard that one of their popular worship/praise songs in such spiritual interactions goes like this

"don't allow me (3x) to leave here empty handed"

then they proceed to steal the diesel in the company generator, petrol in the company car, they request for materials from the stores which they don't need and carry such to the spare parts market for onward disposal and sure every day they never leave "empty handed" but give praise to "God" for meeting all their needs. Isn't it He good and has he not done it they say. Life goes On.

@Omon; am quite relieved that its not personal

Taking a stand against corruption is easier said than done in Nigeria because it is fast becoming our way of life.

OBJ is visiting Port Harcourt beginning on Friday for two days. The only good roads are the ones leading to the government house at one end and the International Airport at the other end. All other roads are bad and yet the governor is beating his chest that he is the "golden governor". I don't see anything golden about bad roads, police men extorting money from the people they are meant to protect and causing traffic hold up day and night. That is what our politicians and senior military officers have resorted to, taking such useless titles as governor general, golden governor, owambe governor, etc, etc, etc

By the way it is an open secret that OBJ and his late wife STELLA are giving "stolen money" as estacodes, gifts each time they visit any state in Nigeria. Rivers State is the most visited state in the federation by both OBJ or STELLA, but that is no big deal because even most government officials do a lot of over invoicing to get extra cash while settling the accountants of the paying ministries. They call it overnight allowance. Banks do round tripping, as a matter of fact a lot of the money ALAMS stole passed through banks and not physically in suitcases (that's old fashioned) By the way the electricity situation has improved in Rivers State so at least Governor Odili dey try but make e 4 amend the road shoa!! ( We don't know how much he say them use do gas turbine wey suppose generate electricity)

There are still good people in Nigeria (like me grin) but what can we do in the face of overwhelming and massive "MADNESS" but to say our prayers for protection as we mind our own business as best as possible.
Politics › Re: Bayelsa State Governor Escapes from London, UK (Now in Nigeria!) by otokx(m): 10:24am On Nov 30, 2005
@Omon; you are taking this matter too personal.

Nigerians abroad are the ones crying the most because of the "morbid fear" that the security agents in those countries will humiliate them. Even the ones crying here like the Governor of Yobe state who is promoting OBJ's third term bid is thinking of what awaits him when he steps out on the usual december holiday of course with more stolen money.

It appears some Nigerians in the diaspora have lost touch with what is on ground here at home. If you are consoling yourself that the Nigerian youth is the hope for tomorrow then you must be having some long term korsakov's psychosis. Have you not heard of the saying that my little finger is fatter than my father's waist. Just come and see what happens during JAMB exams then you will know whats the Nigerian Youth can do. The organized mafia in the US, Italy or even Liberia will bow when they come to Naija and will request for some tutoring in the advanced techniques that abound here.

I am not holding brief for ALAMS, what ever will happen to him is not going to affect me in any way. In fact a lot of people are cashing in on the situation to make as much money as they possibly can. Just imagine the artist who designed that picture where ALAMS is portrayed as a woman has amassed in such a short time. How ingenious? The people who are on the streets are earning a living because they could have been at home day dreaming and watching the popular tv dramas we call Home Videos.

As i said earlier there is more to this than we know. The police system of the uk is not porous and are aware of what happened. By the way he did not leave britain as a woman. His memory loss of what happened was because he was probably drugged and kiddnapped by a special force and can only recollect seeing himself at his ancestral home here in Nigeria.

Am watching and waiting to see how this matter will end. The funny part of it all is that most of the demonstrators against alams are being sponsored by some people in the FG while those that welcomed the great GOVERNOR GENERAL of the ijaw nation did so willingly and without financial motivation.

The Nigerian Police are not corrupt, infact they are very efficient. If you are in doubt, take a drive on any Nigerian road and you will see them collecting Tax on behalf of the FG, thank God there is no state police.
Politics › Re: Bayelsa State Governor Escapes from London, UK (Now in Nigeria!) by otokx(m): 3:15pm On Nov 29, 2005
no Alams or any other has paid me any money. The truth must be told, since the time of Gowon, corruption has been missed with politics and has become the order of the day, all past presidents or head of states in Nigeria with the exception of Alhaji Shehu Shagari live in opulence, and are very wealthy. Any anti-corruption campaign should be done across board and not selective.

@Omon, this is not the uk, the people in power did not get in by the peoples vote neither are they accountable to the general masses so the question of asking my "governor" about the millions you said he stole does not arise.

@Conscience, I have never seen a better description of OBJ than what u potrayed. I don't know why some Nigerians refuse to read in between the lines. He who come to equity must do so with clean hands. What has happened to the Presidential Library Fund raising fraud? Please let us not even talk about corruption in Nigeria because it is now a part of the job discription of any nigerian in power. Even corruption plus short memory.

please check out the report http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=34556 to see what OBJ is doing in a supposed democratic regime.

HIGHLIGHTS

Withdrawn the personal and official security of a democratically elected governor.

Deployed military personnel to torment the good citizens of the state.

Frozen the state accounts in commercial banks in Nigeria.

lipsrsealed cos I know that Judgement has come upon OBJ.

I will continue to identify with the Governor General of the Ijaw Nation even though I am Urhobo/Itsekiri because I believe that this is a clear case of victimization and conspiracy.

Why should OBJ want Tony Blair to do the dirty work? Why has he deployed soldiers in Yenagoa? Why is the government media creating a misleading scenario?

I watched the NTA report showing women demonstrating on a road far removed from Yenagoa. Can u imagine that the women did not reach 30 in number and yet the NTA announced that women were from all the Local Governments in Bayelsa.

Corruption in Nigeria is so widely entrenched to the point that it has almost become accepted as part of our culture.

OBJ should lead by example and stop making foreign trips, our universities should be equiped and upgraded, so also our airports, airspace (which just claimed the life of the son of pdp chairman yesterday) hospitals, roads , electricity, telecommunications etc

the former Mayor of Port Harcourt has described the Chief Alamieyisiegha of bayelsa state as the least corrupt governor in the Niger Delta region and condenmed his abandonment in times of distress by other governors in the zone. He recalled how the Yourubas rallied round Tafa Balogun and the people of plateau also round Joseph Dariye. He went on to call for the dissolution of the South South Peoples Assembly since it can't provide succour to the very person that contributed to its success financially.

I have always stressed the political undertone in this matter. Corruption will soon cease to be an excuse in the provision of basic infrastructure to the people. I wish all foreign governments are like Britain, then ALL our politicians who are in power will cease to travel out with OUR money which they have stolen and develop our nation.
Politics › Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by otokx(m): 10:38am On Nov 28, 2005
No one, does Balogun have immunity? after all the noise its only 6 months that he got in JAIL. The man had the audacity to say its one of those things and it really is because there are still some loot that are not yet disclosed. EFCC is a fraud, a tool used by Ali Baba to oppress any real and imagined opponent.
