PoliticsMan's Spirit Reportedly Pictured Leaving Body After Accident by outknow(op): 9:41pm On Jul 15, 2016
Pictures were taken of how a man’s spirit was leaving his body after his losing his life during a fatal road accident.

CNN reports that the picture was captured by a passing motorist at the scene of a fatal road accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in Kentucky, USA on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

The man’s spirit reportedly leaving his body after the accident.
The picture shows the person’s spirit leaving his body just as an ambulance was working at the scene of the incident another passing motorist, Saul Vazquez, informed that the picture was taken by his dad as he passed by the scene of the accident on Tuesday.

“I took this picture just few minutes ago from the cab of my truck. It was an accident between Campton and Stanton on the service road just off of the mountain parkway.

“Zoom in and pay attention to the shadow just off the top of the state trooper hat.

“All I say is I hope everyone involved is okay,” the Kentucky photographer wrote after posting the photo online.

CNN reports that the man whose spirit was said to have appeared on the man’s camera was later confirmed dead in a hospital.

Speaking on the issue, Scott C Waring of ufosightingsdaily.com, who reportedly has interest in the paranormal, stated: “This is absolutely mind boggling.

“When an accident happened, someone took a photo and realised a spirit was moving upward from the dead body.

“Although this is not a UFO or alien, it is paranormal and very exciting news indeed.

“This confirms, that humans will not just disappear when we die, but our energy stays intact and lifts away from the shell of a body to go somewhere awesome.”

PoliticsBuhari Sacked Hardworking Kachikwu To Please North – Niger Delta Group by outknow(op): 6:39am On Jul 14, 2016
A group, Niger Delta Indigenous Movement For Radical Change, NDIMRC, has lampooned President Muhammadu Buhari for the removal of Ibe Kachikwu as the group managing director of state-owned oil company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

In a statement signed by its president, Nelly Emma, secretary, John Sailor, and spokesperson, Stanley Mukoro, the NDIMRC accused Buhari of removing “hardworking and committed” Dr. Ibe Kachikwu from the top position in NNPC in order to please the Northern interests in Nigeria.

The July 7, 2016 statement accused the new group managing director of the NNPC, Maikanti Kacalla Baru, a former group executive director in charge of exploration and production of spearheading the Northern interests that mounted pressure on the president to remove Kachikwu.

The Niger Delta group frowned at the unceremonious removal of Dr. Kachikwu, a Harvard Ph.D., and described his removal as unfair to the people of the oil-rich Niger Delta region and is an indication that Buhari is not serious about reforming the NNPC.

“The whole world is our witness that we raised the alarm in April this year that Dr. Maikanti Baru was desperate to be the GMD of NNPC and was mounting pressure on the President to sack Kachikwu and now we have been vindicated,” the statement said.

“We are sad over the unfair treatment of Dr. Kachikwu by the president. The former GMD was committed to the total reforms of NNPC of which Dr. Baru was against.

By the sacking of the hard-working Dr Kachikwu at this critical time and replacing him with a desperate Dr Baru, it is now clear to us as a group and the whole world that the President is not serious about his promise to turn NNPC around for the better.

“It is unfortunate that the people of the oil-rich Niger Delta Region are being treated this way. Dr Kachikwu brought a lot of changes into NNPC and the cabal in the Oil and Gas Industry never liked him and rather than
encouraging him to do more for the sector, the president decided to do otherwise,” the statement said.

The group accused Dr. Baru of being behind an April 2016 rumour that Kachikwu had been sacked recalled “warning President Buhari to be wary” of the new NNPC boss saying that he is not fit for the role of leading the oil corporation.

“Without apology, we want to say that Dr Baru does not mean well for the corporation. He is a spoiler and has been too desperate to become the GMD of the NNPC,” the statement said. “Dr Baru has never liked the reforms in NNPC and such a desperate man should not have been allowed to head NNPC as he will ruin the place that Dr. Kachikwu worked so hard to fix up. Dr Baru is not the best man for the job.”

The Niger Delta Indigenous Movement For Radical Change ended its statement by condemning the manifested Northern domination agenda in General Muhammadu Buhari’s appointments.

“We are not impressed that President Buhari in his bid to satisfy Northern Nigeria with more juicy positions at the detriment of the oil producing people of the Niger Delta Region left the affairs of NNPC in the hands of a desperate Dr. Baru who will only sit in the comfort of his office in Abuja without thinking about the pains the oil producing people of the Niger Delta Region are passing through.”

PoliticsStop Provoking Us, There Is No Oil Discovered In Lagos State - Asari Dokubo by outknow(op): 7:30am On Jul 13, 2016
Asari Dokubo has reacted to the claim that Oil has being discovered in Lagos. According to him, it is the greatest fraud of all time. Read below...

There are wild celebrations all over the Nigerian state that substantial hydro carbon deposit had been discovered in the continental shelf off the coast of lagos in the Bight of Benin.

This is to spite the Ijaw and Niger Delta that they too are now oil producing state.

If this is true we will not have any quarrel with the findings...Since Ondo a predominantly Yoruba state had been producing hydro carbon in commercial quantity and was included by General Olusengun Obasanjo in the political Niger Delta.

The case of Lagos is very fraudulent as the mining license OML113 granted to the company of late AbdulWahab Yinka Folawiyo, Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company LTD is no where near or close to the constitutionally recognized boundaries of Lagos state or within the contiguous continental shelf of Lagos State....The area where OML113 is located is off the boundaries of,and the contiguous continental shelf of Bayelsa and Delta state.

The international hydro carbon mappings are public documents and are in the public domain for sighting and reference....It is the greatest fraud of all time to physically thief and transmute the God given resources of the Ijaw and Niger Delta and to transfer same to Lagos state. Is it not enough to thief our resources through your constitutional abracadabra that you are now resorting to korokoro thief.

We therefore demand for an independent international hydro Carbon and cartographic inquiry into this most monstrous thief of all time.

On our part we will not allow any part of, or grain of sand of the Ijaw and Niger Delta to be confiscated or appropriated by anybody.

PoliticsTroops Arrest 4 Niger Delta Avengers Suspects by outknow(op): 5:15am On Jul 12, 2016
Four suspected members of the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), have been arrested in Ikebiri community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Investigations revealed that an ex-militant leader and member of the Movement For the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Africa Upkarisia, assisted the Operation Delta Safe (ODS ) in effecting the arrest of the suspects.
Upkarisia, who was recently appointed as the Chairman of Waterway Security in the state by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, acted on a tip off on the activities of the suspected militants and alerted ODS.
The troops rounded up the suspects and recovered arms and ammunition.
A top security source said the four suspects have been moved to the headquarters of the ODS for interrogation.
Upkarisia confirmed the incident. He said the suspects were arrested at the weekend and commended the ODS for its prompt response.
He explained that he worked on information provided and ensured that the suspects were arrested before they unleash terror in the state.
“These are the boys that have been responsible for the ugly things that have been happening in the area. They are also into kidnapping and other violent crimes which they confessed to when they were arrested. I want to assure the state and federal government that we would keep Bayelsa safe,” he said.
He had held a meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Emmanuel Kachhikwu and Dickson at the state Government house where he declared that the NDA should steer clear of the state.
He and other militants in attendance at the meeting had condemned the activities of NDA and warned that they are breaching the agreement reached with the government to grant amnesty to the militants in 2008 by late President Umaru Musa Yar Adua.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Unity Sustainable By Consent Of All Ethnic Nationalities-IPOB,Afenifere by outknow(op): 8:37am On Jul 11, 2016

PoliticsNigeria Unity Sustainable By Consent Of All Ethnic Nationalities-IPOB,Afenifere by outknow(op): 8:35am On Jul 11, 2016
The Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s position that Nigeria’s unity was not negotiable, saying Nigeria could only remain united if all ethnic nationalities agreed to live together.
ARG, a pan-Yoruba socio-political and economic organisation, also condemned a public statement made recently by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), in which it expressed strong support for the president’s position that the unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.
A statement by its National Chairman, Hon. Olawale Oshun, pointed out the different reasons why the unity of Nigeria should be renegotiated.
In the statement, the ARG noted that neither Buhari nor ACF loved Nigeria more than those advocating the renegotiation of what binds it together as a country.
It said the unity of Nigeria was only sustainable by the voluntary acquiescence of the component ethnic nationalities and rejected the president’s position that Nigeria’s unity was non-negotiable.
The group added that the problems with the Buhari’s administration had “more to do with his conduct – utterances and perceived lopsided appointments – which appear to portray him as a north-centric president instead of a pan-Nigeria president”.
“Both the president and ACF need to take lessons on managing an all-inclusive, pan-Nigerian government. We wonder on what consensus or authority the so-termed non-negotiable unity of Nigeria stands.
“Is it based on government’s ability to silence all dissenters or the capability to manage a diverse society in a manner that makes every component proud?
“Nigeria was envisioned by its founding fathers as a federal republic, sadly its governance structure as dictated by its constitution is akin to that of a unitary state,” the pan-Yoruba group said.
It noted that the insistence of ACF and by extension the president to keep the provisions of Nigeria’s constitution from being renegotiated was the cause of many unsolvable agitations in the country.
“These agitations can only be managed successfully and sustainably when all Nigerians appreciate that they need one another to bequeath a strong country on the coming generations,” it said.
It said Nigerians of Yoruba ethnic stock would never agree “to becoming slaves in their country and the peaceful agitation coming from their space on the restructuring of Nigeria, as against the violent agitation in other areas, is to carefully underscore our belief in peaceful change, the mantra under which the last election was won and lost”.
The group added that all who wished Nigeria well should align with Prof. Wole Soyinka’s assertion that Nigeria’s unity was “bloody well negotiable”.
It noted that the unity of Nigeria and mode of governance were negotiable, adding that “the earlier we all start working towards this, the better for the development, peace and unity of the country”.
In its own reaction to Buhari’s position that the unity of the country was not negotiable, IPOB asked the president to wake up to the reality of the Nigerian situation.
IPOB, which prides itself as a famous worldwide revolutionary movement, vehemently condemned the idea that every component part of the “contraption called Nigeria must remain in the artificial marriage, which has not been working since 1914”.
“It is unfortunate that somebody in that cadre cannot ascertain and does not know that the situation in the country now calls for unity renegotiation,” IPOB said in a statement signed by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful.
The pro-Biafra group pointed out that the British colonial masters amalgamated the northern and southern protectorates without consultation in 1914, adding that no section of the country currently wants to stay with the other as evidenced by the agitation and militancy across the land.
IPOB said in view of the present realities, there was no need for Buhari and those like him to continue to live in the past.
“Rather, the government in power and the new generation of Nigerians should come together and discuss the basis for one Nigeria instead of forcing people to remain as one.
“Forcing people to maintain the citizenship of the country outside their indigenous identities is fraudulent and it will not work because the people of 1914 and 2016 are different and are not the same,” it stated.
IPOB said: “It is degrading and embarrassing that the APC-led government has continued to play the ostrich when things are already falling apart” and wondered if it lacked good advisers who have an idea of the precarious situation the country was heading.
The group reiterated its position that there was no going back “in the quest for the restoration of the nation of Biafra”, adding that “no human being can bring us back because it is the project of God Almighty”.
“More so, we the indigenous people of Biafra want to inform the general public that without the government of Buhari addressing this issue of Biafra and releasing our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, unconditionally the country will not have peace,” IPOB said.

PoliticsNDRS Issues Fresh Threats, Says You Will Be Shocked By Next Attack by outknow(op): 8:27am On Jul 11, 2016
The Niger Delta Red Squad has sent a threat and warning across Nigeria and particularly Imo state government that the next phase of their operation would take the country and state by storm.
The group warned that their next attack will be shocking.

The militant group operating from the Ohaji Egbema axis of the state called out the Brigade Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze in Imo State, Brigadier-General Kay Ishyaku, who according to them, made certain comments to news media across the country.

A post on their Facebook wall reads: “Since the Brigade Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, thinks he can talk to media, let him wait for us at Owerri, we will teach Imo State lessons they will never forget as soon as our two weeks cease-fire elapses.”

The group, which earlier said their agitation was against the inordinate exploitation and marginalisation of the oil bearing communities in the state, added “Rochas Okorocha, Army General Ishyaku and law enforcement agencies should get ready. We are coming.”

According to a recent terse statement posted on their Facebook page, “Our two weeks seize-fire is almost coming to an end, and then we will start full operations.

“Imo State and Nigeria will be shocked at what we are going to do in our forthcoming attacks.”

Recall that the group, in an earlier statement last month, had vowed to cripple the activities of oil companies operating in their area for allegedly exploiting the community without living up to their responsibilities to their hosts.

The statement read, “We shall destroy everything in Imo State that was built with our oil money.

“Since the creation of Imo State in 1976, neither Imo State Government nor oil companies have remembered us, we have been neglected and abandoned.

“Oil companies started operations in our community since 1957 but till date, we have nothing to show as benefit and for the Imo State government, we will make sure you make no further gains from Ohaji Egbema.

“No electricity, no tarred roads, no drinking water, no hospital, no youth employment or empowerment,” the statement read in part.

PoliticsNDRC Reply To Buhari’s Press Release On Bringing Saudi Mercenaries To Fight NDA by outknow(op): 9:10am On Jul 10, 2016
The Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders want to sound it loud and clear that Usman Dan Fodio was not able to conquer the whole north talk less of the Niger Delta. in the history of Nigeria, the Ijaws of the Niger Delta has not been conquered before, so President Muhammadu Buhari should wake up from his slumber of trying to use his Muslim allies to conquer the Izon nation because of their God giving resources, let him go back to history and see for himself that the Ijaws are a peace loving people but when pushed to the wall now will have no option but to fight back as it is happening now, because of our God giving resources.
If Buhari likes he should employ the mercenary from the moon, sky and the entire Arab nation, he cannot win this war, because God is on our side. It is shameful that he is using a whooping sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Eight Million Dollars ($258m), which could have been used to turn things around in the Niger Delta by fully implementing and kick-starting the UNEP report, but because of his Islamic agenda, he is using it with his Muslim allies to conquer the Niger Delta because of our God giving resources.
We are not perturbed or not threatened because God is on our side. South Sudan is a very good example for the world to learn from than apportioning blames after genocide might have been committed. We are also using this opportunity to warn our brothers, so called politicians and ex-militants who are taking sides with the federal government. We know their antecedents, we know who they are and we also know who they were and know how they manage to be what they are today. We want to warn this personalities, the likes of Ebikabowei Victor Ben, aka Boy Loaf, Ayeri Emami, and Timipre Sylva. It is so shameful for somebody like Boy-loaf that is well known armed robbers on the streets of Gabon from 1994 to 1997 that end up snatching a Pajero Jeep from Gabon to Nigeria through a wooden boat and was arrested and later released on bail through the influence of his father a military man then. He sold the Pajero jeep and used the proceeds to venture into bunkering where he ended up recruiting innocent boys into the act of vandalizing pipelines to siphoning crude oil to his foreign allies were he made some money to purchase arms to perpetrate his illegal activities under the guise of Niger Delta struggle. He facilitated the release of John Togo from prison to the rank of his second in command, where he established his camp in the middle of his community, Ezetu, were he traumatized his people, he intimidated and put their lives in danger from aggression by federal troops. He thereby aligned with Timipre Sylva to intimidate distinguishes chiefs, elders, fathers and opinion leaders. Him and his Boss Timipre Sylva ended up establishing various militant camps in the state. Timipre Sylva the then Governor was funding their militant activities through the monthly allocations. At a point when the monthly allocation accruing to the state from the federal was not much to pay for their militant activities lead to the hasty signing of the Amnesty initiatives. What a shame Ebikabowei Victor Ben, aka Boy-loaf has this slogan that, ‘rebellion against tyrant, is obedience to God’.

BOY-LOAF

That gave dirty water from the source, his community drinks to the late Musa Yaraduah, but could not sink a common borehole worth One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000.00), after he had made billions of naira through his criminal activities and the amnesty program. What a shame he is turning against his people today. If truly Muhamed Buhari is a man of integrity could not have allow such person to come close to him, because he is occupying an exalted position as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, because there is always a saying that, ‘show me your friends and I will show you who you are’.
Boy loaf should not forget that he is among the first persons that introduced kidnapping into the Niger Delta struggle were by abducting the first British expatriates with chevron.

AYERI AMAMI

He is from the Itsekiri tribe, who is well known by his Kinsmen as a notorious criminal. He and his gang terrorized the Itsekiri communities and Delta State as a whole. Were he was contacted by his former boss James Ibori, the governor of Delta State, currently serving a jail term in the UK for corruption charges. To carry-out high profile assassinations across the nations. He is well known by the people of Delta State that he was the Hench man used by James Ibori to cause the Ijaw/Itsekiri crisis. In a civilized society such a person cannot be allowed to be a member of the progressive party APC, as he is supposed to wrath in jail. What a shame such a person is romancing with the presidency.

TIMIPRE SYLVA

That name is known not only as the governor of Bayelsa State, but the atrocities committed against the people of Bayelsa State. He had not only formed and initiated the militancy problems but also initiated the amnesty program. He is a well known drug addict, by all and sundry, even primary pupils. During his reign as governor, he was more or less a gangster, fraternizing with militants, sponsoring them, allocating money to them on monthly basis, and even displaying his virtuous as a cultist, he was highly feared by the people of Bayelsa State. Were his decisions are final. That was the main reason he was not allowed to continue for second tenure. He was charged for corruption by the then federal government, but was quashed of all charges by this present APC administration that claims to be fighting corruption. Such a person is not supposed to go near Mr. President, if the federal government means well for the Niger Delta, and is serious with his anti graft policies. We hereby sound it as a clear warning that what happened to the ‘Brass Creek Manifold’ in Peretorugbene of Ekeremor local government area on the early hours of Friday the 8th of July, at 1;26am by the Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders is just a tip of the ice-berg as we are in solidarity with the Niger Delta Avengers.

PoliticsBiafra’s Secessionist Right Revisited by outknow(op): 4:21pm On Jul 07, 2016
“Plainly the central idea of secession is the essence of anarchy” –Abraham Lincoln

Note: It is Ed’il Fitri already. And as I drift into –or should I say come out of- the element of a post-Ramadan fiesta, I serve you this week views I have expressed previously on the ‘secessionist right of a democratic minority’. Enjoy it.

IS a Union sacred and inviolable?

Whether a constitutionally governed nation is to exist in perpetuity, sacred and inviolable even by the existential realities of irredeemable socio-cultural fault lines, is a matter for the conjecture of the jurisprudence of law and of morality. The question being: should a democratic society be presumed immune –legally-speaking or morally so- even from the rumbling dissent of self-determined minorities bent on opting out of the union?Biafra-cartoon

Or put another way: does a part of a constitutionally governed nation- whether it be a state or a section comprising of states- have a right to unilaterally seek, by whatever means, to opt out of that union and to form another? Or the converse of that may be asked: should a President in a constitutionally governed society be constrained by law or morality –or by both- to allow a part secede from the territory he is legally elected to govern?

Will he be obligated –by the Constitution or by the unwritten universal laws of nature, or by both- to fight to keep the union for which he was inaugurated into office to preserve, protect and defend?

These questions have continued to agitate the minds of jurists and of political scientists and there does not seem to be a single jurisprudential solution to the question of ethnic or other classes of minorities and their presumed right to self-determination or their duty of fidelity to an existing statehood to which they are fated by the circumstances of socio-political history to belong.

Willful self-assertion

Yet proponents of the ‘right’ of ‘might’ to willful self-assertion say that any minority section of a constitutionally governed nation can secede from an existing state it no longer desires to be part of, -if not by a constitutional process, at the very worst by ‘force’.

Or is ‘Might’ the only ‘Right’? Provided a seceding minority has the ‘will’, the ‘grit’ and the ‘fighting power’ to force its way out of the union; and provided thereafter it has the ‘might’ to defend its new sovereignty, -either against the revolting anger of un-yielding irredentists or against potentially emergent new rebellions from its very own.

But the reverse is also the case, that even as a MINORITY section of a democratic entity has recourse to the moral justification of the use of force to assert the inalienable right to self-determination, so does a democratic MAJORITY of a constitutionally governed nation have legitimate recourse to the use of force –if it can- to preserve the union. Thus, in actual fact the question of who is right between the majority fighting to preserve the union and the minority fighting to opt out of it, will simply be located in who is able to assert both ‘will’ and ‘firepower’ and not necessarily in who has the moral justification to so to do.

It can thus be seen that any argument by an existing political order in favour of the ‘right’ –legally or morally- to preserve a union is always concurrent with the arrogation by it of the ‘right’ to deny the seceding party its presumed ‘right’ to opt out of the union. And the reverse is equally the case, that secessionists, in arrogating to themselves the presumed ‘right’ to willful self-determination, also tend to deny the ‘right’ of the existing political order to fulfill its constitutional obligation of preserving, protecting and defending the union.

And so going by the doctrine of the ‘right’ of ‘might’ to forceful secession, it can be said that for the agitators of Biafra to secede from Nigeria, the section that they purport to agitate for –namely the South-East- must not only be able to outgun, or at the very least match the fire power of the existing political order, it must be able, permanently, to sustain and enforce its breakaway.

But going by the logic of those who insist that in all circumstances only ‘right’ should be ‘might’, no minority section of a constitutionally governed nation has the right to force its way out of a legal union except by the leave of the majority in that union through the due process of law and not on the sentiments of moral considerations.

The Lincoln perspective

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United State of America provided an excellent jurisprudential justification for the use of force to suppress any rumbling of undemocratic dissent that has secession as its ultimate goal. According to that perspective no democratic minority has a right under the law to secede from a union consecrated by the Constitution.

Lincoln came into office in 1861 by less than 40% of the popular vote and the advent of a republican administration had already created apprehension in some of the Southern states who feared the new President might interfere with the institution of slavery -which had existed in those states. In fact weeks before Lincoln’s inauguration seven of those states had already threatened to secede from the 72-year old Union. This was in spite of the fact that there was proof that although Lincoln opposed the extension of slavery into western territories, he did not favour abolition either in those states where it existed.

It was therefore clear that the secessionists had ulterior motives and were thus not to be pacified but confronted. And so Lincoln in his inaugural speech was to inform a shaky nation with a divided army that he was ‘prepared to fight a war to maintain the Union’. His argument being that ‘the right of a ‘democratic minority’ for self-determination cannot be exercised in override of the right of a ‘democratic majority’ which is constitutionally legitimated to preserve and to protect the Union.

The Right of ‘Way’ and the Right of ‘Say’: Lincoln, by the way, did not derogate the right of the ‘minority’ to dissent –including its so called presumed right to seek to dismember the Union in order to create its own; but he said that the exercise of that delicate species of fundamental right was essentially lower in the hierarchy of rights than the right of a ‘democratic majority’ to preserve the union.

Thus side by side with the right of a ‘democratic majority’, the right of a ‘democratic minority’ in any constitutional democracy cannot and has never been any higher than the passive extent allowed to it in the axiom which posits that ‘the minority has only a say and the majority a way’.

Constitutional checks and limitations

Said Lincoln in his Inaugural speech: “A majority held in restraint by constitutional checks and limitations … is the only true sovereign of a free people. Whoever rejects it does of necessity fly to anarchy or to despotism”.

Nothing can be more rational; especially given the systemic, concept-driven nature of today’s organised societies whereby people have chosen, strictly to live by the principle of the rule of the ‘majority’. To what avail will that principle of ‘majority rule’ be if any ‘minority’ component of a constitutional democracy, at any time, and outside of the due democratic process, can choose to terminate the Union or to permanently alter and impair its constitutionally-prescribed configuration?

President Lincoln had also used the ‘doctrine of perpetuity’ to advance the argument that “in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution” the Union of the states that made up the United States was “perpetual”; and that, that ‘perpetuity’ was necessarily implied even though it was not expressly stated “in the fundamental law of all national governments”.

And to that extent Lincoln felt justified and constitutionally legitimated to say to the secessionists of his days “no state upon its own mere motion can lawfully get out of the Union”! Said German Philosopher and social theorists Jurgen Habermas, “Being bound to the constitutional achievements and ideals of their predecessors, future generations (in any state) remain un-free; for they are denied the opportunity to found their own constitution”.

An oath registered in Heaven’: And although the Constitution, as Lincoln posited “contained no prohibition of secession or enforcement language to preserve the Union”, it did –like all other democratic constitutions- specify an oath of office mandating the President “to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution”. And if so, what can be more deserving of the President’s ‘preservation’, ‘protection’ and ‘defense’ -in a constitutional democracy- than the territorial integrity of the State?

And thus said experts that in the true interpretation of ‘sovereign power’, “since the people had not vested the President with the authority to fix the terms of separation”, Lincoln was right to make “war the inevitable consequence of secession” and to declare himself “constitutionally unable to stop it”. And as Lincoln himself eloquently said, whereas the secessionists had “no oath registered in heaven to destroy” the union, he as President had “the most solemn one to ‘preserve’, ‘protect’ and ‘defend it’.”

The Lincoln inaugural speech was the same in which he made the famous statement “This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it.” The phrase ‘the people’ without doubt referred to the ‘majority’ -and not a ‘minority’ of it.

Peaceful referendum

A minority can only hope to court the understanding and cooperation of the ‘majority’ to cause the necessary due democratic processes, which may lead to a peaceful referendum. But since according to Lincoln, “Unanimity” on the one hand “is impossible” and “the rule of a minority” on the other “is wholly inadmissible”, anarchy or despotism –as he warned- would be “all that is left” if the rule of a ‘democratic majority’ was rejected.

Said Lincoln, even in the hypothetical scenario that the United States were ‘not a government proper’ but merely an association of states in the nature of ‘contract’, that contract could not be “peaceably unmade by less than all the parties who made it”; because, as he asked hypothetically, whereas “One party to a contract may violate (or)… break it, does it not require ‘all’ to lawfully rescind it?”

POSTSCRIPT

The right of the Igbo ‘minority’ or any other ‘minority’ for that matter, to secede from a constitutionally governed Nigeria must be located in the complex hyacinth of these jurisprudential argument. And in all honesty it is a right concurrent with –if not inferior to- the right of the democratic ‘majority’ to deny.

The General Overseer of Victory Assembly Ministry (VAM), Bishop Jonathan Eze has cautioned Niger Delta militants to stop blowing up oil pipelines or face the wrath of God.
Eze gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Owerri.
The Bishop was reacting to the incessant attacks on oil pipelines by the new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).

According to the general overseer, who is also a UN Peace Ambassador, the avengers are incurring the wrath of God by their activities.

“The Avengers are not fighting a just cause because their activities are affecting and threatening the peace of the nation.

“Nigerian oil is a natural gift from God and nobody has the right to destroy it,’’ he said.

Eze added that if the Avengers were aggrieved over any issue, they should address it in a civil manner rather than threaten the country.

He said if the country must remain one, no group should threaten the peaceful existence of the nation in the name of militancy.

Eze also blamed Niger Delta leaders for allowing the situation to “get out of hand’’.

“The leaders in the Niger Delta region are to be blamed because they are the people that groomed the militants and they should call them to order.

“How can there be governors, senators, traditional rulers and other top government officials from the region; and yet they cannot caution their children from destroying government assets,’’ he said.

According to him, spiritual leaders will no longer seat back to watch militants destroy the country.

“If the militants do not stop this madness, we will fight them spiritually and subdue them,” he said.

The clergyman, however, encouraged the Federal Government to take a critical look into the issue and handle it with diplomacy. (NAN)

The General Overseer of Victory Assembly Ministry (VAM), Bishop Jonathan Eze has cautioned Niger Delta militants to stop blowing up oil pipelines or face the wrath of God.

PoliticsNiger Delta Avengers BOOMS NNPC Pipeline In Eleme, Rivers State by outknow(op): 10:00pm On Jul 06, 2016
Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, shifted its hostilities from Delta State to Rivers State, Wednesday, blowing up a Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, pipeline at Eleme leading to the Nigeria Liquefied National Gas, NLNG in the state.

The militant group claimed responsibility to the church, saying on its Facebook page Niger Delta Avengers: “By 3.00 am, yesterday, strike team 2, carried out a major strike, bombing NNPC pipeline at Eleme leading to NLNG. You won’t stop us.”

Meanwhile, the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, JNDLF, yesterday, threatened to set seven flow stations ablaze in Bayelsa state.

However, the Egbesu Boys of Niger Delta, a militant group said that the ongoing warfare in the Niger Delta region was an Ijaw fight for self-determination and not Niger Delta struggle as generally assumed by many.

Before the Rivers attack, NDA daringly posted at about 8.12 pm on its Facebook page: “Another major pipe about to go up in flames! Brass, LNG, Boom.”

It said any attack by the Nigeria Army might result to human casualties but the group does not want to take life, otherwise, it would have dared the army.

“”For every life you take, we take two. We have our reason, we play cool, we are ready, and we must cripple the economy. Boom, Share,” the group added.

- NOW, Nnamdi Kanu is seen as an Igbo leader, CHAI.

You will rather accept buhari as your president than kanu as your leader.
I wonder the type of stuff people are made of

Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) has condemned what it called deliberate attempt in some quarters to sow seed of discord among some Igbo leaders including former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi.
In a statement issued in Enugu, yesterday, IYM President, Evangelist Elliot Uko described efforts “by faceless political hustlers” to drag the noble names of revered leaders like Dr. Ekwueme, Mr. Obi and Nnamdi Kanu “into their dirty and imaginary dream world as despicable.

“Planting unfounded and quite unbelievable fairytales in the social media, aimed at either discrediting or instigating quarrels among these true great leaders is ungodly, evil and a clear enemy action from disgruntled desperadoes, who hope to mislead the public in order to achieve a predetermined ignoble end.

“It could also be part of a larger plot by external forces and their internal agents, to keep the great oriental region disunited.
“Dr. Ekwueme and Obi, did not speak at the Nike Lake Dinner.
“Mazi Kanu and the respected Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) do not have issues with Mr. Obi.
“The desperate attempt to drag Kanu, whose current travails have become the greatest event in this political space into the unending dirty politics of Anambra state is disgraceful and wicked.
“The people behind these false stories, are clearly afraid of certain popular leaders, hence, their clandestine attempt to rubbish same through planting horrible hogwash in the social media.
“Any politician, who feels frustrated by the rising profile of his perceived political opponent, should kindly look for other ways to get at him.

“They should kindly leave Dr. Ekwueme and Kanu out of their sinister schemes.
“Kanu is presently carrying the burden of an entire generation; it is most unfair for any desperate politician to drag his name into local Anambra politics.
“Kanu and the IPOB do not have issues with Obi and are surprised at these vicious falsehoods planted online by those afraid of the former governor.
“Igbo know those who authorised the slaughter of unarmed youths at Nkpor on May 30.

“They also know why these same characters are determined to rubbish someone else. Politicians are, hereby, warned to play their games the way they choose to, without dragging the names of others in the mud.
“Only the guilty and the fearful, plot to drag others into their mess.
“If Kanu or the IPOB have issues with anybody, they do not plant stories on Facebook.
“Rather, they come out boldly with official statements signed by their globally known officers. This unholy attempt to use Kanu’s name to deceive the public should end forthwith.”

Global markets erased another 69.2 billion dollars from the combined net worth of the world’s 400 richest people on the first trading day of the week after the Brexit vote, bringing total loss to 196.2 billion dollars in 48 hours.

The pain on Monday was felt most by Europe’s wealthiest, as 92 billionaires lost 29.4 billion dollars, bringing their two-day decline to 81.7 billion dollars.

These 150 billionaires from the U.S. and Canada lost 26.7 billion dollars on Monday, and recorded a two-day total of 62.5 billion dollars.

China’s 26 billionaires lost one billion dollars on Monday, bringing their two-day total loss to $5 billion, with a 7.4 per cent (18.7 billion dollars) decline in 2016.

Georg Schaeffler, Germany’s third-richest person, fared the worst on the index with 1.9 billion dollars trimmed from his net worth.

Amancio Ortega, a Spanish retailer, who is Europe’s richest person, lost 1.5 billion dollars.
While others lost, there were 69 billionaires on the index who added to their fortunes after the Brexit vote.

Takemitsu Takizaki, founder of Osaka-based Keyence, a maker of electronic sensors, led the gainers with an increase of 579.3 million dollars.
Tadashi Yanai, Japanese retailer and chairman of Tokyo-based Fast Retailing Co., was behind him with a 552 million-dollar rise.

Nineteen billionaires on the index added more than 100 million dollars on Monday.
