Hello ma, please i want to ask, the application opening this september, i discovered the resumption will be around August september 2024 for Msc. Please is there a way to get an admission for MSc that would be starting early next year if this year is impossible??
I just started thinking Finland when Australia became too expensive for me, had to giveup on the admissions.

Irrespective of when admission starts, resumption to schools in Finland is always August/September. They don't do those multiple resumption like US, UK or Canada. This is the position as far as I know but maybe someone else has another experience or perspective.

Australia is really good because it's English speaking but it's truly expensive

Not at all. Waec is only needed for bachelors

Please ma'am does this mean the waec or Neco is irrelevant that I just need SAT, I left secondary school over 10years ago I don't know if there's a need to write waec or I should just go for SAT

Your waec or neco is what will give you admission. However for some very competitive schools, in addition to your waec or neco, they'll ask for SAT. So my advice is to do SAT if you can to boost your chances. Visit studyinfo dot fi and check through the requirements of your desired school

Hello sir, please is there still free tuition schools in Finland for M.Sc?
I wanted to start reading the thread from page one, but it started in 2012, and I am sure things must have changed now.
I have read over 300 pages of thread from UK, Canada, Australia, Austria. To really start reading this thread from page 1 to page 300 plus will take its toll on me.
Please I will appreciate your response sir.

No more free tuition except for PhD

Please, how long does the funds have to be in your account?

I don't know about a specific amount of time the funds have to be in your account. The most important thing to the Finns, from my experience, is that the source of the funds is strong enough to keep up the support after you get to Finland.

However, you can keep it for like 6 weeks before application to give yourself more confidence

Not sure on the costs, but your best bet is to take the train from Uppsala to Stockholm central, then use the metro or bus to the embassy. Google maps will guide you through on the direction to head. It’s not very expensive and not far from central. Let’s say 500kr for you all for the transport.

About the Airbnb, I don’t think you need to. You can get the passport the same day. Infact if you go in the morning, you will leave there before 12pm. Worst case closing hours.

Thanks a lot for your response. I didn't know they work so fast there.

Good day fine people in Sweden.

Pls how does one get from Uppsala to Tyrgatan? I want to visit the Nigerian embassy with my kids and I will stay in an Airbnb in Uppsala or Vendelso.

What's the easiest means? Bus or Uber or Bolt?

Any ideas as to cost?

@Lionize and Mobil567 can you help out with the info?

Thanks

the government has been subsidizing FX while being broke. It was expected , all the subsidies be it fuel, electricity or exchange rate will go . I have two relatives in the uk na die dem dey so. They also applied for form A 2 months ago.

Very true. The subsidies had to go at one point. The window for arbitrage was too wide. People in the UK who aren't making enough there will see shege.

Travel / Re: Has Naira Been Devalued By The Current Regime? by Outstandingmam: 3:42pm On Jun 19, 2023
Yeah it's obviously been devalued since they mentioned unification of rates. I'd been expecting this and you can trust the banks to pick the most extreme point in the range. I had assumed they'll stick to the I & E window which is around N663 or thereabouts.

I wonder what Union Bank will tell me now. I have my tuition fees pending since May and my upkeep allowance pending since February!!

Odiegwu!!

Good afternoon ma,pls how true is it that most Universities give some kind of scholarship. And it seemed nobody here has mentioned the gave him/her a kind of scholarship. Pls I need your response ma

All the universities give scholarships. Some give 40%, some 50%, 70% and some even give 100% depending on how impressed they're with your previous education.

Also a lot of universities, particularly the universities of applied sciences, give scholarships of as much as 50% to every successful applicant to their school irrespective of how good your previous education was. There's also early bird discount which some universities give e.g Savonia UAS gives 50% early bird discount on tuition fees to every admitted student.

Like I advised you before, visit the portal and go through the courses. You must find scholarship opportunity.

On the 8th of May

If they need additional information or documents, you should get a mail on that on or before Tuesday next week. If that mail doesn't come, then you should get a decision (most likely positive) within 2 weeks.

Relax your mind

Thank you so much for the response

I’m just scared
Because I heard it usually take minutes or hours to get a decision once people receive the mail that their processing has begun

But this one don take days already

Minutes to get decision? That must be a huge improvement from when I did mine.

When did you do your biometrics?

I don’t know if anyone has experienced or is experiencing this too

Migri.fi sent me a mail on Tuesday that my application process has begun and till this moment, I’m yet to get a decision or any information from them to provide additional documents .
Is this normal?
Do I need to mail them or something?

You don't need to fret. It's the normal procedure. They'll send you a mail for more information and documents or a mail indicating a decision if they have everything they need from you.

Since they're already considering your application, I think you should get a response within 2 to 3 weeks

Hello house

How is everybody doing? I’m sorry if this message would be lengthy(Please bear with me), Good Morning, I have been a ardent follower of the travel section on NL(I just opened this account to stay anonymous). I want to make some inquires that’s so important to next step I take in this point of my life.

Firstly, I’m 25 years old. I finished my secondary school education since 2015 but couldn’t further more because of some unfortunate situation then, I just did my WAEC examination in 2021. Since 2015 till now, I have been learning programming, but now I want to japa cause my future in Nigeria is looking very blurry day by day.

To my question, what much can I do with my WAEC result in regard to traveling, I had a good result but I don’t know where to start from exactly. I would appreciate some tips from the expert in the house. Thank you 🙏

A Bsc is your next logical step. I wouldn't like to teleguide you but if you've been learning programming then maybe a bachelors degree in Computer science/Information Technology/Software engineering might be a very good field to go into. It'll be nice to write SAT to improve your chances at getting into the top universities in Finland. The main route to getting in is the entrance examination anyway.

You'll need money for tuition fees, residence permit application etc. The next admission season starts in Dec/Jan so you have time now to start gathering resources and also preparing for the entrance examination.

Visit the portal @ studyinfo dot fi to get started.

Good luck

@teepearl, I responded to your mail.

@Ladiesdream, mailer demon gets it when I try responding to your mail

I got two admissions in two different Finnish schools but I could not go because they don't accept part payment of tuition. Please does anyone know any school that accepts initial deposit and also has low tuition . I have a tight budget

They don't accept part payment.

For low tuition, try Savonia UAS though even they have increased a bit as I heard

My Son just about finishing writing his waec, and we are looking at sending him to Finland, as that seems the only affordable option for an average earning parent. We initially thought of Estonia, but recent enquiries shows that we may be unable to afford their tuition.

I will like to have an idea of the turion per annum for an IT course, will his 20hours work be able to cover partially for his subsequent tuition.

Does he need to write any other exams (Gre and likes) asides Waec , he's just 15.

Also I have HND , and I am thinking if I can also better my lot though this route.

As regards making this a fulltime job, so you can be charging, don't worry 😉 he reach to charge for, sha don't charge us too much...lol

Thanks

If I was in your shoes, this is how I'll approach it because at 15, I will not send my child to a foreign country to attend university. Infact I won't even allow my 15 year old to attend university yet in Nigeria.

He's still under 18 so can comfortably fit under your application. I'll suggest you apply yourself and he goes as your dependant. He's still young enough to attend grade school for a year or get into the IB program which is like A-levels or even the vocational program. He'll use that period to also learn Finnish before he turns 18 and can then attend university for free even though he'll now need to have his own permit.

In the meantime, he can write SAT. That's the only extra qualification that will aid an undergraduate application. If he scores very well, it can aid scholarship consideration in case he has to study in English. Tuition fees Vary from school to school but you can expect between €8k and €13k before scholarship or early bird discount.

You didn't mention your marital status because that will also affect these plans to some extent.

Your HND will get you a bsc. Application starts in December for a few universities but most universities start application on January 4th.

Pls stop all these lamentations. Did you expect the tinubu that kalu campaigned against in the primaries to support his aspirations? If you were talking of Osita Izunaso, it could have even made some sense. Would you have done so if you were in tinubu shoes?

Politics is all about interest. Ask orji Kalu why he had another candidate in the APC primaries and even tactfully told the world he didn't vote tinubu in the presidency.

Ben kalu, just like Onofiok Luke, though a PDP, had been a loyalist of Gbaja since he came to the house and he reaped his investment.

Kalu is an adult and crying over what you know you didn't work for is very childish and shameful
