Good morning house. Pardon me for my too many questions,am trying to balance things up before making a decision next year God willing. I heard of an 8 hours job a day,and 2 days off or so. Can someone do 2 jobs on different places a day? And can one work all through the week without there so called off days? Pls I need answers. Thanks in advance
Of course you you can do 2 jobs if you get. As a student however, you can't do more than 30hrs a week. Also, when you start the jobs, nobody will beg you to take off days. You will know you need to take breaks to rest

Please sir, sorry to bother you. I just got an offer from vamia. I have the money to fund my stay. But I do not know the best way to present the funds to satisfy the embassy. Should I use a sponsor? Should I use a business or personal? Please this is very complicated for me. I don't want to take chances with the RP. PLEASE I NEED GUIDANCE. THANK YOU. MY EMAIL IS WHILLTREE@GMAIL.COM
It depends on how the funds got into your account.

I greet everyone, please I need explanation on this quote from the website of Finland embassy Abuja "The legalized document(s) will be sent to the applicant’s given address in Finland"
Does that mean we can receive the documents here in Nigeria?
You can get your legalized documents here in Nigeria. Once they mail you that the docs are ready, reply their mail and tell them you wish to get it here physically. You'll need to go to their embassy for collection. You can even nominate a friend to collect on your behalf. That's how I got mine

Good morning ma,pls I need clarity..u mentioned 220 euro per documents to be legalized, and some places on the net is saying 30 euro per documents. Sorry, I will need clarification pls.
Legalization of marriage certificate €220
Legalization of birth certificate €220/child
Resident permit application €350
Resident permit application for spouse €450
Resident permit application for children €240

Service charge for each resident permit application N37,500

Some other small costs. These expenses are after you've gotten the admission and have paid your tuition fees.

You can pay all the € costs in naira at official rate
The above is what I wrote in response to someone earlier on this thread.

The €30/document is for Finnish embassy processes, not legalization

Good evening ma, if the couple are not going with the kids for now, would you advise we legalize theirs alongside ours at same time? Would the request for theirs, knowing we r not going with them
Yes I strongly advise you do them and just keep. You won't need to redo it when it's time for them to join you. Remember, you must mention them in the forms you'll fill now so just go ahead and do them now.

Thanks for your response ma,

But the question 4 is still not clear to me... Are u saying I will pay €220 each to legalize the following documents
1. Marriage certificate
2. Birth certificate (for me)
3. Birth certificate for 2 dependants
3. BSC. Certificate
4 O, level totalling €1320
€220 for marriage certificate
€220 for each of your children's birth certificate. So for a family with 2 children, your price will be €660.

These are the only documents you need to legalize for the purpose of resident permit application. However, they'll need attestation at the ministry of foreign affairs before going to VFS.

For the wife, in addition ,she'll need to attest her birth certificate or NPC attestation letter, affidavit of marriage and waec/neco. These attestations are needed to authenticate her identity since she must be bearing a new name now as a result of marriage.

Adeleyeibrahim:
Thanks as always sir, this is quite explanatory.
One more question on this please. After all the documents mentioned has passed through MOE & MOFA, which of them will pass through second legalization by VFS global?
Every document you attested at the ministry will go to VFS. They'll serve as support for the marriage and children's birth certificates you want to legalize
TravelRe: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by Outstandingmam: 5:15am On Aug 29, 2023
Adeleyeibrahim:
Thank you sir. I guess with the dependant husband/wife as well?
To legalize the marriage certificate, the birth certificate or NPC birth attestation of the wife and the affidavit of marriage must be attested at foreign affairs.

The WAEC/Neco certificate must be attested at ministry of education and foreign affairs.

These attestations are to prove the identity of the wife whether she's the student or dependent since she must have done change of name.

Adeleyeibrahim:
I greet you, please the legalization of birth certificate, is it just that of the admitted students or the dependant must be legalized also.
Only the children of the marriage must all have their birth certificates legalized.

Hello ma,

I have been going through this thread and I will say you have been trying your best to answer all questions without insult or harsh response... God bless u...
My question is on this legalization of certificate; I understand marriage certificate and birth certificate is to legalized in the ministry of foreign affairs while educational certificates should be done in ministry of education.. but
1 . do you have idea how much it will cost to get this things done?
it's not really expensive. I don't think you should spend more than 3k per document for attestation. Or maybe 5k if they too want to start thinking of dollar increase

2. Must we travel to Abuja to get all these things done or it can be process in Lagos The federal ministries are in Abuja. I did mine there. I don't know if they do in Lagos

3. At what point do we need the legalized documents? Before applying for Admission or after we have gotten the admission and we want to put in study permit application or RP as the case may be?
I started mine after I got admission letter. If your faith is strong enough, maybe you can start now before you get admission but I won't advise you to

4. You mentioned €220 in on of your post, to be paid to Finnish embassy in Abuja or VFS is this payment for the all documents or per document
It's per document and you'll pay the naira equivalent

Please Sir, how much is this verification fee?
Also does anyone have idea of how much is the health insurance fee for vamia
Verification fees is €220/document. You can pay in Naira and this morning, it's N191,750

https://www.vfsglobal.com/one-pager/Finland/Nigeria/VerificationService/english/#Application-Fees

For health insurance, you can use a good Nigerian insurer. Shouldn't cost more than N40k. I wasn't so sure when I did mine so I used Swisscare which cost me €197

Yes
I sent them the payment 5 days ago they said it is yet to be confirmed.
What if they start continue processing my application without it, what is the probability of my rp coming out positive without the document?
If they proceed without that legalized document which they expressly demanded, it'll most likely result in a negative decision.

In the request for additional information, they would have given you an option of explaining why you can't tender it now. Follow their instructions and let them know about your constraints

When I started applying for residence permit, I was told that there was no need to legalize my documents for studies now I received a supplement on my application that I need to send them my legalized birth certificate. Do you by any chance know the reason why they are asking for legalized birth certificate when I'm going for studies?
I want to assume that you're female. Are you married? Did you do change of name?

When did you mail them?

Good afternoon Outstandingmam.
I was talking to someone about vamia application, he applied in January and already been granted student permit so he should me the question of the study motivation they asked for in January(first attached image).
Then he said on checking the link he used in applying before he saw this new study motivation, they're two; motivation to study abroad and economic motivation(second attached inage).

So my question now is what should we write in the economic motivation if it happens to be the question asked by Monday 7th of Aug. I'm trying to write something down in advance so I'll be able to submit quickly.
I just need main bullet point, thanks a lot, I appreciate.
This economic motivation aspect is totally new to me. I simply have no idea.

However, you might want to tell them how you'll go about assuring your financial and economic well-being in Finland. There should be other things but like I said earlier, I have no idea.

I have done both and even paid. I'm still waiting for them to send the instuctions on how to send the document so how long would the process take?
Did they acknowledge your mail? If they did, you have no choice but just to wait. VFS will not attend to you without the correspondence from the embassy.

Officially, VFS verification should take 60 days if there are no errors on your docs. However, until you send your documents to VFS and pay the verification fees, the process hasn't even started.

Hello please how long does it take to legalize a document e.g Birth Certificate at the Finnish embassy
Depends on verification at VFS.

Have you done the following

1. Have the birth certificate attested at ministry of foreign affairs?

2. Written to inform the Finnish embassy of your intention to legalize the birth certificate?

Please I need your advise. I intend moving with my husband and 2 kids for my maters. I want to ask if a sole custody document/family court order will suffice in place of consent letter from my daughter’s father (we were never married and I have been fully responsible for her upkeep for 10 years now, as he’s a NO SHOW).
Hmmmm..... It's a bit tricky. There's a form PK04 (can't really remember the name) that the parents would fill on the enterfinland website. Also they'll need a consent letter from the parent not going with you.

Let me even ask, have you started filling the permit application?

Finnish embassy and VFS use a unified rate and as at this evening, the rate is N676/$ on the VFS website

The competition is insane. I'm a single lad and I applied for a second Bsc. The yearly tuition is 9500 euros. Scholarship option only applies within the context of completing a certain amount of study credits each year, giving 20 percent discount. My brother in Canada is willing to help me with the first semester payment, which I will use in confirming acceptance of offer. My bone of contention now is POF. By my calculations it's roughly 6 million naira now.
The POF needed now is N4.6m for 1 year.

I don't know how to advise your case really. You'll have to do plenty thinking about it. Unfortunately, you have just days to do that. I can only wish you the best

Thanks for your comprehensive reply. The uni offered an online study option for the 1st semester. With an option for extension if visa isn't available for January resumption still. If after 4th of September visa isn't out, the online option kicks off.
The conditional admission requires first semester fee of 4,750 euros be paid by 28 July latest. Not a very convenient timeframe either. It's a tricky spot, admissions this year was competitive and I fear it's will be more so next time.
On another note is the city of Porvoo relatively affordablehuh?. Anyone who got into Finland recently please how has living expense being for you. This whole process takes heart. More grace to everyone🙏🏾
Admissions into Finnish schools have gotten harder every year since 2017 and they'll keep getting harder. Finnish schools are quite considerate and I'm not surprised the option for online classes is still available.

I don't know what your specific situation is so can't say much. Your marital status, your program (BSC or Msc), the total program fees, your current financial situation etc will play a role in your decision and you have less than a week to decide.

In any case, Finland is quite affordable for a student and you'll not find it difficult to get a small job(s) that, diligently done, will generate enough to pay your fees and maintain you as Porvoo is a very economically active city by the sea. Inflation has been rife in Finland since the Russia-Ukraine war started but students are coping.

I wish you the best as you make your decision.

Hello house, good evening. I and a colleague had been on waiting list with Haaga Helia uni. We had even crossed out the possibility. Surprisingly an offer of admission came in just yesterday. I will like to ask, especially from those who just went through the visa process if it's possible to push it within this limited time frame.
Congratulations first of all but I must confess that it's a tough situation.

You have roughly a month to go before orientation for new students. If your school will allow you to start online while sorting your permit out, then that'll be nice. You need to find out first.

If you're single, have your proof of funds ready, you should be able to manage everything within 6 weeks if you start today. If you're married and going with family, you owe VFS 60 days officially and that's assuming you have all your T's crossed and I's dotted on the documents. If not, you could be looking at 3-6months. It's after VFS has finished verification that you'll now start with Migri and embassy proper.

I wish you the best
