The Tale Of Two Kdramas And Their Deceptive Labelling (not quite but I want to rant. Lol) The Witch was a drama I looked forward to watching because the plot was fresh and I liked the male lead. Also, if I am not wrong, romance was part of its label. But like I wrote about a few weeks ago, that aspect of the drama was scarce. Of the whole 10 episodes, I can say that the leads spoke to each other for maybe 40mins (maybe I am even over generous here). I still like the drama but I'm definitely unhappy with the way it ended. Also, I wanted them to explain the reason why those things around her were happening but instead of these people to give us an explanation, they decided to say "oh, it's not just her, it's happening to someone else too and there's no reason for it. They were just born that way" 🙄. Also what's with the forced romance with the second leads. That story line would have been fine but it felt rushed and unbelievable. The second drama is Buried Hearts This wasn't on my watchlist. I wasn't in the mood for any revenge drama but my curiosity was only going to allow me to watch the first episode and move along just because I like the male lead. Loved his character in Doctor Slump However, I was genuinely surprised that I enjoyed the episode. I love the drama more than all the dramas I am currently watching. I can't remember if this was labelled as having any romance but alas, it has more romance than The Witch. Apart from the romance aspect which I really like, the plot of the drama is really good. The story keeps me intrigued and entertained. I even want to join the male lead in his revenge against those wicked people 🤣 I pray it ends well. |
kangminhyuksho:And their American counterparts do worse but even when they are caught nothing happens...........minus the grooming part. I like the accountability part but it's becoming toxic. |
toykathy:You mean her family or the industry ( I mean those that knew)? That's what I am surprised about. Why come out and talk about it now? They should just let the girl Rest In Peace and not cause another death because the way they are dragging Kim Soo Hyun now is the same way they dragged other celebrities that eventually end their lives. Nobody learns from past experiences. There's no proof of anything, for either the underaged romance or the loan repayment. Everything is just speculations for now and it's beginning to get out of hand. It is well sha. |
Suicideboy:Grooming a minor is a crime in 'almost' all the countries in the world and the age of consent is not universal. There a name for people who sleep with minors. They are called Peodophiles. |
folake4u:You are welcome! I hope you enjoy it. |
kangminhyuksho:That's the part I find really hard to believe. That he dated her as a minor. I just want to believe that she was already an adult when they dated. How he plans to prove that, I don't know. Saw today that she died on his birthday. That's hmmm. The money aspect for me is what if that's what lead to her death? The pressure of the whole thing. I know he has no responsibility towards her but it's all a really sad situation. |
kangminhyuksho:That's my issue with the allegations. How did her family allow her to date an older man as a minor? And why are they talking now? I think the main anger for some was that he didn't help her when she needed help with money. Let them investigate let's see. |
kangminhyuksho:The woman is a special kind of evil. Why he wants to be the successor, I would never understand. His story of wanting to replace the child his grandmother lost doesn't make sense to me. But then again, everyone is different. I was waiting for your post on Kim Soo Hyun (just learnt the spelling of his name to type this 😃). I know you post about trending topics. |
folake4u:Wonderful World is the name. He still didn't smile in it but his acting was a really good improvement from his previous ones. As for it being interesting, you will have to see it for yourself but it was quite good. |
folake4u:Lol. He was so close to being typecasted. His last drama saved him cos it was different from his other dramas and he did it well. Still doesn't smile so much in his dramas but we are getting there. Let me just be grateful for small miracles😃. |
LordTosinJ:You are welcome. |
folake4u:Thanks! True Beauty was good. The only problem I had with it was that the male lead's character was too similar to his character in My ID Is Gangnam Beauty. |
LordTosinJ:Please bear in mind that "interesting" is relative. You might find something boring that I thought was not. That said, here's a few. Undercover High School (on going) Extraordinary You Extracurricular True Beauty My ID Is Gangnam Beauty My Roommate Is A Gumiho Cheer Up Love Alarm Doctor Slump (half high school) Family By Choice Twenty One Twenty Five Cheese In The Trap Weight Lifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo |
kangminhyuksho:Lol. Ok. Let me correct myself. They were in the same scenes a few times but never spoke to each other until episode 6. And the conversations were not "I like you" talks. The drama is good sha. It just took a really long time to get to where it is. |
The Witch was a very very slow burn. They used about 3 episodes or so to talk about the past from 3 perspectives; the male lead's, the female lead's and the male lead's mother. I know a lot of people dropped it because it wasn't picking up early. The writer has finally decided to get his head in the game. From episode 6, we started seeing good progress. Them try. But this is where I miss old Nollywood 😀. Even though her father has died, someone in their village will know her birth story and know why men keep dying or getting injured around her. Once a guy likes her and declared his love to her, he dies. If he only like her but doesn't confess his feelings to her, he gets injured. If a guy stays in her vicinity for more than 10mins, na wahala. Nollywood would have helped to explain that something something happened when her mom was pregnant or her ancestors bla bla bla. I don't know how Kdrama will explain it that it will be 'sweet'. 🤣. Let me exercise small hope. @ kangminhyuksho, your guys were complaining about Love Next Door been really slow in the romance aspect, this drama is worse o. The main leads weren't in the same scene for 5 episodes 😀 |
undercover high school continues to be so good. I love it. I was thinking they'll get exposed but from the teasers for next episode, it seems they found a way to cover up and I'm just here wondering what kind of creative lie they can come up with to explain that situation😂. I guess the reigning thing is yeye parody of old dramas. in my dearest nemesis, they did a parody of lovers in Paris and here they did romance, I burst out laughing when the OST even played. Jung hae seong is a better person than I am cos I would help lee dong min but I would never continue a friendship with him. I understand his situation and all he has to go through with his grandma but if there's anyone I hate even more than bullies and cheats, it's cowards urghh please I don't care about his rubbish situation, I just think he's a fuc((king loser and a coward who's actually very evil cos what do you mean the only choice you had was to frame the only person in school who's actually your friend. I honestly didn't like them making excuses for him talmabout it's not your fault, it's the situation. he doesn't even know shi!t about hae seong's life. what if haeseong was really a high school student, is that how you would destroy his education cos you have no choice? he might also have a poor old grandmother that depends on him too. dong min denying that he was bullied could be acceptable cos of his situation but framing someone who has been nothing but nice to you just shows that deep down you're an evil, selfish biatch and I mean it shows cos when the repentant bullies asked him to hit them, he actually did. if he was such a good person, he'd have let it go since they came to apologize. oh well I guess thank God he spoke up at the end but I don't count it as a merit for him cos what would have happened if hae seong didn't come to clear his name by himself mtcheww fuc($king bi! tch🤣[/quote]Omo see rant 🤣🤣. I feel the same way you do about him. He shouldn't have lied against someone else especially when that was the only person that has had your back. Also, the bullying wouldn't have stopped so now you will be bullied without any support. |
kangminhyuksho:Marry My Husband |
kangminhyuksho:🤣 @ witch. That's why I said the drama was annoying and I remembered you complained about it a lot then. I guess you had a bittersweet relationship with it. Lol. Yeah, that's the thing. I thought I won't be able to take him seriously cos of this proceeding dramas but I was really surprised that he is pulling this one off. |
My take on Buried Hearts. I don't know why the female lead is getting a lot of hate online. It's obvious people didn't listen to her talking to her step father or even read her expressions. She loves the male lead and still do.....I believe they will still end up together. From her conversation with her step father before the wedding, we can see that her goal is to find out how her dad died and revenge his death. She's on a revenge mission and I guess she didn't expect to fall in love in the process but she choose her mission over love. Secondly, her mood the day before her wedding was quite telling. And then sleeping with her boyfriend without protection. I guess she wanted his baby at least if she doesn't end up with him. I didn't plan to watch this drama. I was only going to see the first episode and move on but I loved what I saw. So here I am. Didn't plan to watch My Dearest Nemesis as well. Saw the first episode too and decided to continue with it. The male lead exceeded my expectations. I always visualise him in comedic roles but his seriousness here is quite convincing. This is a new side of him that is interesting to see. The female lead is amazing as usual. Her last 2 dramas (Kill, Eat, Love and the one where she acted as a banker or so. Can't remember the name. I remember @ kangminhyuksho hated that drama too) that I saw was annoying but this is a good way to get back on track. |
Suicideboy:I think I will. Thanks. |
kangminhyuksho:You are right lol. But this your last point 🤣🤣 I just give up. |
kangminhyuksho:@ Trauma Code.......una over hyped series 😀. I miss dramas with longer episodes, 16-20 episodes. I think these kdrama people have been listening to you cos you always complain when the series are long....(Although I understand your reason sha as some of them tend to drag unnecessarily). But what we get now are dramas between 6 to 12 episodes that have underdeveloped plots and characters and rushed endings. They should bring back longer episodes please. |
kangminhyuksho:How is she during interviews? Does she speak the same way? |
Suicideboy:I have seen The Trunk and Little Women. I usually don't watch dramas with heavy themes and plot. Life is heavy enough and I watch entertainment to escape reality for a while. So there may be "slops" but like them. Won't do really stupid ones though. Life no hard like that ![]() |
Update on The Queen Who Crowns This king is the most annoying king I have ever encountered in kdramas. How can he kill all his wife's brother? Na wa o. And it's not as if he is a wise king because if not that she was his backbone throughout his reign, he would have been a failure. How did she not hate him though? Both of them are the typical example of 'don't get involved in a couples quarrel because they will use you to settle '. After all he did to her, she still stayed with him and helped him be a good king.....though he is an idiot. |
kangminhyuksho:Lol. You are right. It could be the Netflix marketing. |
I have turned to kangminhyuksho that make long posts ![]() |
My Take On The Dramas I Have Watched This Year.....So Far Love Scout I love this drama. It was one of my most anticipated since it was announced last year or so. I didn't really know the characters except the female lead. I later watched the male lead for the first time last year in Dongjae The Good Or The Bastard. I like the plot of Love Scout. The characters played their parts well. I especially love the male lead's daughter. She is so cute. However, I don't feel the chemistry between the leads. To me, that's what's lacking. Check In Hanyang This one.. hmmmm. I watched it for the male lead. I like him so I am managed the very nonsense drama. Motel California I stopped watching this at episode 5. I refused to stress myself over 2 dramas (this and Check In Hanyang) that I don't really enjoy. The leads here are not my favourites so it was easy to drop it. When The Phone Rings I really enjoyed this one. The story was good. The chemistry was 'chemistrying'. I could feel the love and restraints the male had for the female lead from the 1st episode. Towards the end, the suspense was gone but it was ok. This one was good. Study Group This is a really good one. I love the plot, the humour, the fights. The male lead is so sweet, loyal, funny, innocent and naive. Lol. I first saw him in Alchemy Of Souls and he was my favourite character. Then I watched him in Lovely Runner, enjoyed him there as well so I was looking forward to this and I am having a good time with it. As much as I loved Weak Hero Class 1, Study Group tops it for me. *The fight scenes are more interesting. *The comedy is really good. *More information on the male lead, why he learnt to fight, how is struggles with his academics etc.. *Also, the guy is sooooo naive and innocent. It's so cute. *His is more likeabke *The villain is psychopath. What surprised me about the bad guy here is that he is a very good fighter. He doesn't just hide behind his minions. Their fight at the end will be brutal. I am curious about his dad because apparently he is some sort of a genius. So I am hoping they show us more of that aspect of the drama. I don't think the dad was pressuring him academically but I am sure the mum doesn't put pressure on him to succeed. I am also curious about the uncle that trained him and why they cut ties as per the mum's request. I hope it continues to be enjoyable. The Queen Who Crowns I wasn't planning to watch this but I am glad I did. They are still some questions left unanswered and the drama is ending tonight. Hopefully it will be answered in the prequel airing this month....I think. *It was mentioned in the earlier episodes that the King lived with the queen's family when he was just a prince. Why? *Why did he kill his brother, the former crown prince? *Why did the queen run towards them shouting "no" just as he killed his brother? They should just answer the above for me in the prequel and I will be fine. That's the only reason I will be watching that. The Trauma Code: Heros On Call I watched this and it was just an ok drama for me. I really don't understand the hype around it. Doctor Romantic was much more better in every aspect. Far better in my opinion. It wasn't a bad or uninteresting drama but I have seen something better so I really don't get why this one has so much paparazzi around it. The Scandal Of Chun Hwa I didn't plan to watch this at all. Decided to try the first episode when it came out and enjoyed it. However, I told myself that I won't take this drama seriously. This is the most informal historical drama I have seen in kdrama. I don't even know the boundaries of the palace. The royal families interact with the public unlike other dramas where the people don't even recognise their rulers outside the palace. The language sounds modern to me but I am not so sure as I am not an expert on the Korean language. Even more than the main leads, I am very curious about the crown prince and princess. It's obvious they like each other so I am waiting to see their backstory revealed. Why do they act the way they do towards each other? Anticipating The Witch Undercover High School |
RaphaellaDD:Yeah. I hope soon before I forget what I had watched already. |
RaphaellaDD:I still haven't finished this drama. Stopped at Episode 8 or so. Not because it wasn't interesting but because I decided to binge the rest of the episode (I began to find it really good at that point) but many many months later............... |
kangminhyuksho:Namib |
kangminhyuksho:Won't you watch Study Group? It's one of my most anticipated dramas of this month. Its so good so far. |
