activatekruger is one of the Old posters here and he is also active in the Gaming section. his 2014 open letter to the Mods contained his complaints about the activities of some Mods interfering with military threads. he also tried to use the medium(letter) to pit the mods against his long term rivals Agaugust and Naijapikin. scared that he would get bored overtime if the mods ban this two, he advised the mods not to ban them but to try and control them.

How can an African posting on a thread called "African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread" be a foreigner?
I apologize for that, there was no harm intended. in making that comment I was more interested in his personality outside this thread. let's move on please. there is no way I would make his accomplishments in a Nigerian forum a big deal by not first pointing out that he is not a Nigerian.
the thread is what it is today because of all of us.

# fact. Chkil our in-house Algerian contributor broke a very rare record(for a foreigner in this thread) when he created a topic here in the foreign affairs section that gained Frontpage attention and gathered over 70,000 views. the topic was about Snow fall in North Africa. and it became one of Google's top search result on that subject.

Gentlemen and ladies. Today we kick off the " one thousand pages of friendship celebration " to celebrate 4 years of endless debate and intelligent squabbles between Gents from various races and cultures in this beautiful thread of ours.

as we move on to reach the 1000th page bench mark of this great thread I would like to remind you that we couldn't have achieved this without the occasional squabbles which are consistent with most intellectual discourses where everybody seem to have a chip lodged in their egotistic shoulders and therefore find it hard to submit to the opinion of others. the arguments we have here has in one way or the other added to our well of knowledge on the issues which are raised before us on a daily basis and I believe we have been made better men by our endless conflicts of opinions.

so it is for that reason that we would mark the achievement of the 1000 page bench mark on a very special note.

the 1000 pages of friendship celebration starts from page 991- 1000 and some of the activities to mark this event are:
starting from now:
1. share something that quite unique that you have observed from a fellow contributor here and posts snippets of evidence to prove it (if possible)
2. share and repost or requote some of the best hilarious quotes that you have seen on this thread and explain the circumstances under which it was posted.
3. repost some of your finest posts that you thought would have earned you lots of likes but ended up in a heated debate.
4. this is not a competition, quote your favorites pics ever posted on this thread since inception and explain why you like it.
5. a military poetry competition, write a poem on any of the ongoing military operations in Africa. the one with the highest number of likes wins.
6. tell us something that woukd shock us about yourself e. g it would come as a shock to some of us to know that most of the finest posters have a non military related career in real life. although it won't come as a shock to me if Patches or Nemesis4u confesses that they are single. I think by now most of us already suspect that by the way they gloat of images of female officers.
7. drop mind games like " if you were asked to choose between becoming a General in the US army or becoming a field commander in a rebel force made up of 15000 half naked young female fighters which one of them would you choose?"
8. from here on till we cross the 1000th page mark, I ve taken permissions from Henry240 and he is on board you can derail to the extent that it is a comment made within the confines of our 1000th pages of friendship celebration
let the fun continue. cheesy cheesy cheesy

both SiriusBlack's thread and Henry240' thread were badly affected by the infamous nairaland data loss.

Here is a post by the two friends mourning the loss of their precious images.

Poor Henry, he was not going to let anything stop him. that's why I laugh when I hear him say he is leaving the thread for good cus of a small misunderstanding. we all know he has no where else to go. the last time he he tried leaving the thread for good he went to squat in Oga bidexi's thread and that of Nemesis4u and later came back home to his thread to continue posting pictures starting with that of a South African Gripen.

during his time as a poster here on Nairaland SiriusBlack posted real-time updates from the war against terror in the NE and this earned him the attention and affection of most Nairalanders who viewed his threads and contributions. some Nairalanders still occasionally ask about his well being. he stopped posting real-time pictures from the NE since his followership attracted the attention of the Nigerian defence headquarters who were forced to make a statement against the broadcast of pictures and photographs of officers on COIN duties.

I will let this rest.
sanity of which thread? oga this is a discussion thread and that is why i brought your quote here if you truly have anything to say in reply please write it, if not just bow in shame and run like you have just did. taking about sanity of thread, when you are so willing to reply with insane and worthless comments to people's intelligent assertions. mtchwww. you have just realised that insulting me ( which is the only thing some of you know how to do in an argument wont save you from this one. so leaving the many points i made you quoted the empty no. 4 and said you were forced to reply, reply what?

It's a milestone and it wouldn't have reached this stage without the input of all the thread's dedicated contributors.

To be honest, when i first read your post on this, I was excited, I felt it would be a fun experience in general, however at this point, I'm no longer enthused about it. The foreigners in that thread have over time brought in their Xenophobic characters from real life and transferred it online. There are two (2) camps in that thread, the Nigerian and South-African. Overtime i've noticed the disdain shown by the South-Africans towards anything Nigerian in that thread. Now, the Nigerians, including I, have decided to repay them with even greater disdain.

I used to post stuff from South-Africa, since the end of last year, i stopped. We are not a big happy companionship in that thread. Let us not act like we are. I sincerely don't like to play pretend. If you want to post a video montage, by all means, do, but I'm not going to join in.

I usually post the images in the thread, concentrate mostly on Nigeria and respond ruthlessly to anybody who takes a jibe at our country.

No comment. I remember inviting Sunday Idajili to the thread when Gulma UAV was launched in 2013. Your suggestion might or might not work.

On moving the frontpage that would be the end of the thread. One of my reasons of creating that thread was to keep those who are actually interested in military stuff, interested. Moving it to the frontpage would kill it off. So this is a big NO, for me.

On the authouring of a PDF, that's also a brilliant idea. However, I post photos or make contributions on the military for fun or in an Informal manner.

Anything formal would kill my drive. So for this, I'm sorry, I'll have to pass.

This is my position, thanks bro for finding me suitable to share your ideas with, I truly do appreciate it.
thanks for the reply. I understand and respect your position and would not in anyway try to make you change it. you have shared your knowledge with a lot of people who you know or who you don't and have even moved some young men to enlist into service for their motherland only God will bless you for that. the South Africans are your friends, just as the East Africans and the North Africans, try to tolerate them as much as you can. some of their posts are driven by a sense of Competition and rivalry just accept it for what it is and ignore them, we are what we are today because of the unprecedented challenges that we have overcome, even you as a man must have clearly seen that achieving greatness in life is not too easy, so letting people walk over the little you have achieved without frowning is very hard but you may have to take that position, your thread have gone beyond Nigeria and if you, the continue to support one side of the house things may easily fall apart. I would try my best to get things back to the way it was when it was just you and fynlin3. I would go ahead with some of the plans for the 1000th mark if I am not too busy. I would do this because I do not know anyone of you guys, but yet I have for more than 4 years read the comments that you write. not that they are funny or very interesting but that we share a common interest. I can neva be angry over words posted on the Internet, they are just opinions and they can't bite anybody.

I am very impressed by your advanced level of knowledge on this things and by the fact that you have continued to improve as times go by.

I will handle it myself now that I have your permission.

I don't need to ask myself any question, you're simply out of order.
BTW, i'm not aware if you are Nigerian and if you are, i'm poised to believe you're living outside the country.

In respect to what i said, here is what Henry has to say:

Infact, i don't understand why Comprehension eludes you this time around Buddy.
I am out of tune with reality? what reality, your own mind created illusion or the Nigerian national interest and defense a d security strategy which I have had the very rare opportunity to enjoy the tutelage of very refined foreign affairs intelligentsia, the reality on ground is that state live in an anarchic and lawless society where each state must struggle to achieve its interests at the expense of the other, I have just raised very serious issue that need to be considered in future threat assessments in Nigeria and what have you raised? insults, calling of a fellow forumite like you to back your poorly contested claims. you have also made a firm and clear assertion that you do not understand, why. I, like any other person would find it difficult to understand your overarching ignorance on a topic that you have been reading about and commenting on, almost everyday for the past few years. you have shown that you have a very shallow and uncompetitive knowledge of such topics as relates to defense and foreign politics and you have also suggested to us that your opinion does not count much if it is not backed by the opinion of others.

one would have enjoyed teaching you some of the basics but the problem is, you have used your right hand to cover your eyes from seeing people opinion as relevant and you have went further to protect yourself from the reprimands of people by sticking the other hand up your own anu5 so that any advice given to you by kind hearted users of this forum to go fvck yourself would be of non effect.

you have just succeeded in attacking me without stating one single valid opinion of yours to counter my point cmon man quoting Henry? bros if i wanted to talk to Henry i will do that directly na. there is no need to hide behind him when posting insensitive responses.
i know i am yarning grammer, if you would prefer that i speak to you in your local language using Gtranslator then please tell me. because your response to my post came in late and as such i expected you to have spent time to understand and appreciate what i am really saying. i did you the honour of giving you a lenghty academic grade reply backing my point with history and also quoting the doctrine of the Nigerian Armed forces and you replied me by telling me Henry240 agrees with and so therefore you are correct? I would try not to respond to your quotes or reply again. your intelligence level as shown in this your post is not competitive enough to benefit me or anybody engaging in a discourse with you. from my posts anybody could easily learn something:
1. Algeria and Maroc have strained relations
2. Morocco is cheifly concerned about her western Saharan interests
3. Morocco have sponsored insurgencies in the past
4. the raison de etat of nations
5. Nigeria have a security and defense doctrine
6. Nations prepare before hand for crisis.

what have we learnt from your aggressive reply?
1. you are somebody that depends on other people's approval in life
2. you rely on insults and aggression and the opinion of others to hide your Ignorance
3. you do not yet understand what it takes to be a patriot, no patriot naturally accepts the status quo of his country when he know they can do better.
4. you think you have a great comprehension skill but from most of your reply it seem to be no better than that of a hen trying to pick corn through the surface of a glass bottle.

Oga Henry240 I created this thread here to ensure that we enjoy some privacy over the issues I want to discuss with you. your thread, our thread would be hitting it's 1000th page anytime soon and this is not a feat that is very easy to achieve. military discussion threads usually last longer here on Nairaland because it's followers are not little kids that move away with time in search of new experiences. so I have been thinking and I ve decided to call your mind to this thoughts of mine so that our minds together can rub each other in a grand romance of thoughts and wits(I am sounding weird forgive me). to celebrate our achievement of the 1000th page peg, I suggest we surprise both old and new followers of the thread by creating a funny video slide of their past hilarious or controversial posts that would give them a sense of belonging, we should also quote some of the most controversial, funniest and ridiculous posts or claim made by a follower in the course of our journey together. a list of the ten first posters in the thread would be made and a list of the first posters of foreign nationality could also be made, a quote of the first attempt at derailing the thread by a poster should be posted and the poster and his nationality named.
that's for the fun part( you can add your ideas)

for the intellectual part: I suggest we invite guest posters who are professionals in their fields to come and comment on some topics of interests e. g the challenges faced by local defence Industries in SSA and other issues that have bordered most of our fellow followers. I suggest we invite notable African Defence personalities like Gen Been, Eeben Barlow, The CEO of proforce and any other person of your choice.

then I would like you and I to author a work a pdf journal which would be the first of a series of journals and it this work would be about "Social Media and their impact of national defense planning" it would cover cases where local armed forces have been alerted through the social media, I am sure you are aware of the fact that the Centenary was named on the Internet first and somehow got the exact same name" these are issues I would like us to write on in this particular journal and it would be made avaliable for free to all the followers of the thread by email.

let's us continue to brain storm and see how we can make the achievement of this particular benchmark a memorable and uniting one for all of us. we would work with Oga S3un to get it on front page for the two days that this events would last.

please try not to write the name of anyone that you do not want to be better informed on this issue here. it is a surprise for the boys.

thank you
Henry240 please try sending a message to S3un informing him of this event and the need for a front page space.
