What is her PhD in? She may be eligible for the Global Talent Independent program (GTI).
It has just been recently launched (about six months ago).

It offers a streamlined, priority visa pathway for highly skilled and talented individuals to work and live permanently in Australia.
Record shows that visas have been granted in as fast as just three days.

Abiscoco:
Afternoon everyone, I have been a silent reader and thumbs up to everyone for providing guidance and assistance to people like us.
I and my friend began this PR journey and while I will be assessing with AITSL that seems straightforward, she is a University lecturer assessing with VETASSESS. She just submitted her application for priority processing but was however rejected for fast track due to her having a Phd qualification which needs to be properly verified

Education Qualifications
BSc (Tier 2) – 2008
MSC – 2010
Phd - 2016

Work experience
University Tutor – 2010 -2013
University Lecturer -2013 till date

We are considering telling the assessor not to assess the Phd so as not to delay the outcome and probably save on years of experience because reading through the thread shows VETASSES not to be predictable with approved employment duration.

Is this step advisable, considering the state (NSW) she is targeting requires 5years employment and an assessment of both qualification and employmenta you are claiming points is required before applying?

Please advise @bellong @tunlex01 and everyone, she needs to reply soon. Thank you.

My Health Declarations (MHD) is a service for clients who have not yet lodged a visa application and would like to do health examinations before lodging a visa application. It is available via the ImmiAccount arrangements. If you have already lodged a visa application, you should not use this service.
All you have to do is to create an account via: https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login and follow the steps via "My Health Declarations". After you create an ImmiAccount, look for the link relating to health declarations and follow the steps. You will be able to generate a HAP ID which will serve as a reference for your medical examination.

The below link will also give you useful information:

dungburu:
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University has resorted to the Selling of Masa popularly known as woina (Rice Puff Puff) after his several and abortive job - hunt.

According to him, several attempt has been made to get a job and even a menial teaching job of N10,000 but no company, School or organisation has called let alone flashed. He said most of the companies Managers do tell him they are looking for means to reduce their workers let alone recruit as a result of the current economic recession.

He said he has skills in producing different kinds of disinffectants like Bleech, Izal, liquid soap, hair cream and so on and that as a matter of fact he is a successful candidate in the Bank of Industry online and In class Young Entrepreneur Support Programme that stands him the chance of been eligible to obtain the loan of N5 million but the over night demand of two guarantors by BOI which were not noted earlier in their conditions before applying shattered his dream of becoming an Entrepreneur as no body he knows that has assets worth of N5 million or a civil servant that can stand in the gap as guarantors.

He also lamented that no message was sent to him as regards the N-power programme so, he couldn't assess the portal for the N-power online assessment.

When asked if he won't feel bad or shy if the pictures of him Selling Woina gets to social media as some of his friends who are working already or girl friends might see him? He replied (Who shyness helped for this recession) that he has been a hustler right from Primary school and his mother has told him the very first day she gave birth to him to be a man.

Very necessary for you coming to Newcastle. Public transportation is not that impressive here. Moreover, its a requirement for some jobs. The good thing is that you can get good, affordable cars (relative though) plus you can use your Nigeria drivers licence here.

Pls why is this a necessity?

Hey guys.. its officially a week in Perth. What's up? Hope no worries with everyone down here.

Actually... I didn't get to comment on this trend all thru my visa application time and when I finally got the visa.. I was seriously working on my faith and positivity. Thank God it all worked out. I am not here to give a sermon. I am here for a forward living which involves getting information.

I am studying Mgt Information Systems M.Sc at Edith Cowan. Already got a TFN and d banks settled. But oh wow accomodation is expensive. Literally like 6k/day in the ECU village here.. well it looks like I am on banana island. If there is anyone that needs heads up. . Hey don't hesitate I am always here.

I need to know what u need to get a job i mean from anyone that's been in australia for like a while now.. hey guys.. no worries. Hit me up.

Does anyone know where biometrics are done for the Australian visa in the UK?

From my experience, you don't need biometrics if you are applying from the UK. You can have your medicals done before applying to speed up the process. The application is paper based and sent via post. Hope that helps.

Hi,

I don't think applying from Germany is a problem; as long as you are in Germany legally and have the right documents to back this up. I also applied for the 574 visa from the UK and I'm currently in Australia. So no worries! Hope you wrote a very good SOP? You should get your grant in less than 3weeks...all things being equal.

All the best mate!

tetraman:
Greetings to the house and the knowledgeable gurus.
I have a quick question, I just applied for a 574 visa for PhD, fully funded by scholarship/ARC research grant. I would like to know if it was risky to apply from outside Nigeria as I just finished my Masters in Germany. Should I have gone home and applied from Nigeria?
I read some posts with people applying from outside Nigeria and being reject for lack of ties back home. I'm worried of not meeting the General temporary entrant requirement.
Gurus in the house, your clarification would be much appreciated.
God bless you all.

backpackers is not as bad as our friend made it seem "typical school hostel". My understanding is that there are various backpackers in different cities. well i arrived Australia 2weeks ago and stayed at the backpackers in Newcastle which is about 2.5hrs frm sydney. its more like 5k+ per nite but it was very okay. you have access to household facilities and a clean bathroom/toilet although shared. its nice as you get to meet and interact with all sorts of people. its cheaper compared to hotels which vary from 70/80 or over 100 AUD. There are lots of accomodation available but i must warn you: Its an expensive country

HELLO house....I M HEART BROKEN AND DEVASTATED,MY STUDENT VISA APPLICATION SUBCLASS 573 UNDER SVP WAS REFUSED ON THE GROUND THAT I WILL NOT GO BACK TO NIGERIA AFTER MY STUDY.i included both statement of account and affidavit of sponsorship together with a SOP stating my future plan with regards to the relevant of my proposed course to my future.i intended to enroll in a course that suits my employment background..it took them nearly 3months to assessed my application.i was so apprehensive about the delay that i have to called them on monday to ask them if i should apply for the extension of my starting date or defer my admission for the next semester,...but to my greatest surprise, the same day they sent me refusal notice without any cogent reason.....Although,i didnt apply in nigeria as i m currently residing in another country.

Meanwhile,i still intend to reapply again as i have already deferred my admission to the next semester,But i m worried about the chance of getting the visa ....will it be fine if i courier my application to pretoria because the AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY here doesn't assess any student here under SVP.In fact, they don't even have SVP checklist on their website or in their office. It seems as if they dont know about SVP or just a deliberate act.

please the house,i would need an advice or advices on how to go about it now....Is it wise to reapply again at the same embassy or send my application to Pretoria if it will be possible..?
Foreign Affairs / US Governor Sworn In For Fourth Term by owenklay: 9:14am On Jan 06, 2015
Who says past politicians can't bring about change and new ideas?

California Governor Jerry Brown has made history after being sworn in for a record-breaking fourth term.

In his inaugural speech, Democrat Mr Brown, 76, outlined ambitious targets for climate change in the most populous US state.

Jerry Brown first served as governor in the 1970s and 80s and returned for another term in 2011.

Since then, he has been widely credited with turning around California's finances.

Mr Brown told the audience at the state Capitol in Sacramento that California was at a crossroads.

"With big and important new programmes now launched and the budget carefully balanced, the challenge is to build for the future, not steal from it," he said.

Jerry Brown defeated Republican challenger Neel Kashkari in November in a landslide re-election victory.
