Technology Market / How To Avoid Credit Card Skimmers by OwillyOscar(m): 1:57pm On Oct 01, 2014
Are you wondering how bad guys gets your credit card information? Well they get your credit card info using Credit Card Skimmer device. The skimmer automatically records the card data as you insert your card into the real scanner.

Some skimmers place a secondary keypad over top of the actual keypad. The secondary keypad captures your PIN number and records it while passing your input to the real keypad. While other skimmers capture the card information using a magnetic reader and use a miniature camera to record you typing in your PIN number.

Phones / Essential Tricks Iphone 6 And Iphone 6 Plus Owners Need To Know by OwillyOscar(m): 2:05am On Oct 01, 2014
Apple’s new iPhones are much bigger. Even the iPhone 6 is too big to use comfortably in some instances. As for the iPhone 6 Plus phablet, it’s massive. In fact, it’s even bigger than the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 that will launch next month. If you've got an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, getting to know these features will help you enjoy your iPhone even more.

Reachability

If you’re not in the NBA, there is no way you’re reaching the top of the iPhone 6 Plus display with one hand. When your second hand is busy and you need to tap something near the top of the display, simply double-touch on the home button. This will shift the entire screen downward allowing you to reach whatever you need.

Note: I said “double-touch” not double tap. On the iPhone, a double tap on the home button will open the app switcher interface. You need to double-touch the home button to use Reachability. See more at: http://www.trendymediablog.com/2014/09/essential-tricks-iphone-6-and-iphone-6.html

Webmasters / How I Recover My Hacked Google Adsense Account by OwillyOscar(m): 1:26pm On Sep 24, 2014
I am sharing this tip because I suffered a lot with when my AdSense was hijacked. My account was was hijacked by a developer I paid to work on my site template. Did I pay the guy to steal my AdSense? I don't think so. I'm not giving you the 100% guaranty that you will have your account back but it all depends on how you address the issue. But trust me, I'm going to share with you how I got my AdSense account back in less than 24hours and i will be providing you screenshots for further proof as well.

A day after I hand over my login details to the developer that i employed, I was surprise to receive an SMS from him asking me to resend my login details that he was unable to login and I was so surprise when I discovered that my AdSense had been moved out of my Gmail. In fact my blogging dream was charted into pieces that I couldn't publish an article that I scheduled for that day.

Now I was in my confused state of mind that I didn't even know what to do next, I tried contacting Google help forum but it was all a waste of time. I tried relaxing my mind with a bottle of hot drink but it was a total waste, at this point I became suspicious but the developer claimed that I was accusing him falsely, I had no choice but to lay the complain to Bloggers Lab on Facebook, (A Facebook group created for all Bloggers by Jide Ogunsanya). 49% said it was the developer that hijacked my AdSense account, but no one could alter further help.

At this point I was ready for anything that's going to happen, I bluntly refuse the idea of building a new blog as suggested by the fellow BL members, other suggested that I should create a new Gmail account and sign up for AdSense. I wanted to know the Gmail account that was used to hijacked my AdSense so I loged into AdSense with the same Gmail and fill up the necessary details, I was asked to wait for a week. Google review my site within an hour instead and send me a mail which you can see clearly on the screenshot.

Phones / Everything You Need To Know About Ios 8 by OwillyOscar(m): 1:27am On Sep 24, 2014
With an easy-to-use interface, security at its core and amazing features, iOS 8 is the foundation of iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. The iOS 8 is designed to look beautiful and also work beautifully, so even the simplest tasks are more engaging. Your devices are always years ahead — from day one to day whenever because iOS 8 is engineered to take full advantage of the advanced technologies built into Apple hardware.

Classy and intuitive interface.

The iOS is designed to be easy to understand. The simple-yet-beautiful Home screen invites you to discover each of the built-in apps. So right away, you’re browsing your favorite websites, capturing a few candids, or texting your friends. And no matter what you’re doing or what app you’re using, everything feels easy, intuitive, and even fun.

Hardware and software made for each other.

Apple makes both the hardware and the operating system for iPad, iPod touch and iPhone, everything is designed to work together. So apps take full advantage of hardware features such as the dual-core processor, wireless antennas, accelerated graphics and more. iOS 8 learns when you like to use your apps and updates the content in them at power-efficient times, like when your device is already in use and connected to Wi-Fi. So the content in your favorite apps stays up to date without a major drain on your battery.

Phones / How Do I Install A Widget On My Ipad? by OwillyOscar(m): 8:21am On Sep 23, 2014
You can install widget into the Notification Center by opening notifications of your iPad by sliding your finger down, careful to start at the very top of the screen, and then tapping the 'Edit' button located at the end of your active notifications.

The edit screen is split into those widgets that will display in the Notification Center and those that are installed on the device but not currently showing with the other notifications.
To install a widget, tap the green button with the plus sign next to it. To remove a widget, simply tap the red button with the minus sign and then tap the remove button that appears to the right of the widget.
Once the widget is installed, it will be displayed when you open the Notification Center.

Will There Be a Separate 'Widget' Store?

Apple has implemented widgets by allowing an app to display a custom interface within another app. This means a widget is just an app that allows part of itself to be shown in another app, which in this case is the notification center.
If you want to see sports scores in your notification center, you can simply download a sports app like ScoreCenter from the app store. The app will need to support becoming a widget in the notification center, but you don't need to install a special version of the app. Once installed, you can configure which apps you want to show in the notification center through the iPad's notification settings.

Phones / 5 Key Differences Between The Iphone 6 And Iphone 6 Plus by OwillyOscar(m): 1:28am On Sep 21, 2014
1. Battery Life
Because of its larger screen, the iPhone 6 Plus drains its battery faster—but its battery also offers much more capacity and a longer life. But while both phones meet or exceed the battery life of previous iPhones in all metrics, there is a clear winner. Check out these comparisons (all numbers in hours, based on information supplied by Apple):

Talk Time

iPhone 6 Plus: 14
iPhone 6: 14

Audio Time

iPhone 6 Plus: 80
iPhone 6: 50

Video Time

iPhone 6 Plus: 14
iPhone 6: 11

Internet Time

iPhone 6 Plus: 12
iPhone 6: 11

Standby Time

iPhone 6 Plus: 16 days
iPhone 6: 10 days
Now you know which one suite you.

2. Screen Size and Resolution

The most obvious physical difference between previous iPhones and the latest devices is the screen size. The iPhone 5S screen was 4 inches.

The iPhone 6 is 4.7 inches, while the iPhone 6 Plus measures 5.5 inches diagonally, the iPhone 6 Plus also has a different resolution, too: 1920 x 1080 vs. the 6's 1334 x 750., making it a "phablet" and a close competitor to the iPad mini.-- giving Samsung, which has dominated the giant phone market, some competition.

3. Camera: Image Stabilization

Image stabilization is a feature of cameras that helps reduce motion in the camera (say, the movement of your hand as you take the photo), improve focus, and overall deliver higher-quality images. There are two ways image stabilization can be delivered: hardware and software.

In software image stabilization, a program automatically tweaks photos to improve their look. Both phones have this. However, hardware image stabilization, which uses the phone's gyroscope and M8 motion co-processor to cancel out movement, is even better. Only the iPhone 6 Plus has this feature.

Gaming / The Best Playstation Games Of 2014 by OwillyOscar(m): 3:57am On Sep 20, 2014
Madden 15
You can always tell the fall games blitz is about to begin when Madden hits stores, and this year’s edition gets the season off to a good start. Madden 15 keeps the series going on its upward trend, improving on last year’s gains in the offensive and defensive departments, as well as physics and play calling. The core Franchise Mode is still demanding, as is the fantasy football-esque Ultimate Team, and it’s all backed up by an impressive collection of analytical data.

Obviously it helps that the firmly established franchise has never looked better. After a gradual step forward during the PS4/Xbox One launch, you can see the difference this year, not just in graphics, but in overall presentation, making all the updates easy to grasp. Despite being the only NFL game in town, Madden isn’t resting on its laurels.

Computers / How To Completely Erase A Hard Drive by OwillyOscar(m): 5:53am On Sep 17, 2014
When you format a hard drive you don't actually erase the hard drive of data, you only erase the location information for the data, making it "lost" to the operating system. Since the operating system can't see the data, the drive looks empty when you look at its contents.

Erasing a hard drive completely is not as easy as deleting everything on it. To truly erase hard drive data forever, you'll have to take some extra steps.

1. Use a Degausser to Erase the Hard Drive
Use a degausser to disrupt the magnetic domains on the drive - the very way that a hard drive stores data.

Some NSA approved automatic degaussers can erase dozens of hard drives in an hour and cost thousands of dollars. NSA approved degaussing wands, used to manually degauss a hard drive, can be purchased for around $500 USD.

Important: Degaussing a modern hard drive will also erase the drive's firmware, rendering the drive completely useless. If you want to erase a hard drive, but also want it to work properly after being erased, Then I recommend you to erase the drive using data destruction software instead.

Note: For the average computer owner or organization, degaussing probably isn't a cost effective way to completely erase a hard drive. In most cases, physically destroying the drive is the best solution if the drive isn't needed any more. - See more at: http://trendymediablog.com/2014/09/how-to-completely-erase-a-hard-drive/

Computers / Which Wireless Router Has The Best Wi-fi Range? by OwillyOscar(m): 12:40am On Sep 17, 2014
A wireless router's antenna technology generally determines its Wi-Fi signal strength and hence its range. For example, 802.11g wireless routers offered better Wi-Fi range than comparable 802.11b units due in part to technical improvements in their antennas.

802.11n/ac and Wi-Fi Router Range

wireless routers currently offering the best Wi-Fi signal range, however, are 802.11n (sometimes called "wireless N"wink and 802.11ac units. Where standard 802.11b and 802.11g routers featured just one Wi-Fi radio and antenna, wireless N routers contain two or three radios specifically designed to maximize Wi-Fi range.

Increasing Wi-Fi Range

The standard antennas that ship with wireless routers are almost all omnidirectional - meaning that they distribute their signal equally in all directions. These antennas provide more uniform coverage in a radius, but they also limit the signal's reach in any one specific direction. Some routers support replacement of their standard antennas with upgraded "aftermarket" ones. Many aftermarket Wi-Fi antennas work directionally, their radio signals focused in specific directions. All other things being equal, replacing the omnidirectional antenna on a wireless router with a directional one will increase its maximum range.

Factor to Consider When Choosing Router

Wi-Fi range is just one of several factors to consider when choosing a wireless router . For example, the reach of a wireless network can also be increased by installing wireless range extender products, or by upgrading a Wi-Fi client instead of the router. - See more at: http://trendymediablog.com/2014/09/which-wireless-router-has-the-best-wi-fi-range/

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Become A Telecommuter Or Find A Work-from-home Job by OwillyOscar(m): 4:13am On Sep 14, 2014
If you're like the 38% of U.S. employees who don't currently telecommute but have jobs that can be done remotely, you may even be able to set up a work-from-home arrangement with your current employer and telecommute at least part of the week. Here are the best places to look and steps to take to become a telecommuter.

What You Need:

Patience

Determination

Skills suited for a job that can be done remotely

Get equipped and up to speed on technology and communication.
Some companies provide computer equipment to their telecommuting employees. You can get a leg up by having at least the basic equipment needed for working from home. If you can prove strong typing skills and computer abilities (e.g., show computer class certificates) and know how to communicate effectively using email, phone, and IM, use web conferencing, and collaborate with others virtually, your telecommuting application will be stronger.

Look to your current employer. Often the best place to get a telecommuting position is at the company you are already with: you've already established a relationship with this employer and -- although working from home will be a bit different and require some transition -- you already have in-depth knowledge of how to do your job. Also, many organizations won't allow telecommuting until you've established a proven track record at the company.

Computers / How Can I Get 300 Mbps Speed On My 802.11n Network? by OwillyOscar(m): 5:11am On Sep 13, 2014
For an 802.11n network to run at its maximum speed, Wireless N routers and network adapters must be linked and running in a channel bonding mode.

802.11n and Channel Bonding

Bonding utilizes two adjacent Wi-Fi channels at the same time to double the bandwidth of the wireless link compared to 802.11b/g. 802.11n standard specifies 300 Mbps theoretical bandwidth is available when using channel bonding. Because without it, about 50% of this bandwidth is lost, and 802.11n equipment will generally report connections in the 130-150 Mbps rated range in those cases.
Channel bonding substantially increases the risk of interfering with nearby Wi-Fi networks due to the increased spectrum and it power consumption. - See more at: http://trendymediablog.com/2014/09/how-can-i-get-300-mbps-speed-on-my-802-11n-network/

Computers / The Ever Growing Challenges Of Data Storage by OwillyOscar(m): 1:06am On Sep 08, 2014
To get the best performance and reliability from any storage space, strategic storage planning is essential. While much time is spent in equipment planning, just as much effort should be applied towards researching operating systems and their available file systems.

File System Considerations

If you have a choice of file systems, here are some requirements to consider:

==> Volume Size
==> Estimated number of files on the volume
==> Estimated size of files on the volume
==> Velocity
==> Variety
==> Shared volume requirements
==> Backup Requirements

Volume Size

Volume size is an important place to start for planning. This is only the start since strategic planning involves scalability—can it grow as the need arises without interruption of service to the users? The generally accepted truth of filling free space is all too true for data volumes. It is not uncommon to add a terabyte of storage and in six months it’s already half full. Two terabytes (2TB) has become the initial hurdle for many file systems. This limit starts with the SCSI command set being limited to 32-bit logical block addressing. Therefore, a single SCSI LUN using 512 byte block size cannot access over 2TB. File systems that have been used on these systems have been ‘adjusted’ to handle extremely large volumes. However, volumes that are nearing the 2TB limit may be stressing the limits of the file system.

Estimated Number of Files on the Volume

Plan for the number of files that could potentially be stored on the volume. The file system uses Metadata (data about data) to describe the files that are stored. This means there is going to be a certain amount of volume space used by the file system just to manage the files that are there.

File systems that are not built for excessively large directories will slow down applications that access them. This can adversely affect users that have thousands of files on a volume that has millions of files.

Estimated Size of Files on the Volume

Your next consideration should be the sizes of the files that will be on the volume. Organizations that are running large database servers usually have the need to be able to pre- allocate very large files in the gigabyte range of sizes. The file system and operating system need to be able to handle this level of input and output. For these types of enterprises’ systems, expected standard are base on high for performance and integrity.

Velocity

In Big Data terms, velocity refers to how fast data is being produced and how quickly it must be processed to meet business demand and required outcomes. Online transactions, RFID and
retail are just some of the areas that continue to challenge organizations trying to meet these
required outcomes. Cirrus Networks will help you make the most of your data, stored now and in the future. We build and manage sophisticated information management, analytic and flexible, scalable solutions that can underpin your organization operations.

At Cirrus Networks we understand the challenges that data rich environments can present and can help you transform your existing solution into a cost effective modular storage solution. We do this by introducing the latest technologies which intelligently manage data, keep costs down and can adapt to rapidly changing data storage and retrieval requirements.

Variety

A particular challenge in making sense of vast amounts of stored data is how diverse it is. Data can range from numerical, video, email, SMS, audio, photographs, graphics and many other formats. That creates storage and management challenges as the storage and subsequent access characteristics are very different between data types – as is the business insight you can gain from each.

Computers / 10 Things To Do After Been Hacked by OwillyOscar(m): 4:21am On Sep 05, 2014
1. Shutdown and remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer as a non-bootable drive

If your computer is hacked you need to shut it down to prevent further damage to your files. After you have powered it down, you will need to pull the hard drive out and connect it to another computer as a secondary non-bootable drive. Make sure the other computer has up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware. You should probably also download a free rootkit detection scanner from a reputable source.

Consider purchasing a USB drive caddy to put your hard drive in to make it easier to connect to another computer. If you don't use a USB caddy and opt to connect the drive internally instead, make sure the dip switches on the back of your drive are set as a secondary "slave" drive. If it is set to "master" it may try to boot the other computer to your operating system and all hell could break loose again. Take your computer to a reputable local PC repair shop if you don't feel comfortable removing a hard drive yourself.

2. Make a complete backup of your system

Once everything is in its normal condition you should do a complete backup so that if this ever happens again you won't spend as much time reloading your system. Using a backup tool that creates a boot-able hard drive image as a backup will help speed up future recoveries to a huge extent.

3. Reset your passwords

Consider changing the password on the affected service, and any others that use the same or similar password. And don’t reuse passwords. You should be changing your passwords from time to time as a part of routine maintenance. But if you’ve just been hacked, it’s now more urgent. This is especially true if you reuse passwords, or use schemes that result in similar passwords. “Password reuse is one of the great evils and its very hard to prevent.

Sites can set up password requirements — for example a character length or that a password include symbols and numbers — but they cannot force you into not reusing the same or similar passwords. “It’s very common for people to use similar or the same password but it’s very unusual for people to realize that it creates a liability for them to do it and that they need to change their password after they’ve been hacked.” - See more at: http://trendymediablog.com/2014/09/10-things-to-do-after-been-hacked/

Romance / 5 Ways To Overcome Shyness With Girls by OwillyOscar(m): 9:23am On Aug 31, 2014
Why is it difficult for you to talk to a lady and win her love? The answer is very simple: YOU ARE SHY. Trust my, that the bitter truth. You do not have the confidence to stop her and say the right words to her in the right manner because you feel too embarrassed or too scared to talk to her. The solution is for you to work on this problem of shyness. Once you can overcome it and develop the right altitude, talking to ladies and winning their love will become as easy as the simple ABC we all known very well.

Shyness is usually expressed in silence, reticence, embarrassment and self-consciousness. Physical symptoms includes dizziness, increased heart beat rate, dry mouth, fatigue, sweating, weak knees and tingling sensations. In the case of white people or people with very fair skin, they experience blushing. The skin around their face changes colour and it is noticeable by someone who is looking at their face. Some people try to conceal their shyness by drinking, eating or talking too much; by being silent, always listening; and by asking questions while never sharing anything personal.

Overcoming shyness involves developing self-esteem and social skills. To communicate about oneself and show interest in the other person requires self esteem, which can be developed through awareness and practice.

How To Develop Self Esteem

The reason why a lot of people have low self-esteem of themselves is because they are too critical of themselves. They are more conscious of what they think they are lacking instead of focusing on the talents and good things they are endowed with. Don't be too critical of yourself. Forget whatever you think you are lacking and concentrate on your good sides. Try listing five things that you like about yourself, you might like the fact that you are athletic, you are good in biology, current affairs or you can sing, rap or have the ability to fix things that got damaged. These are talents but most people have difficulty recognizing their good points because they're more used to criticism than praise. Add to this list of affirmations daily. Put each of your good qualities on an indexed card, and place the cards around your room -- in your drawer, in your closet, on your mirror or wall, as a reminder to be supportive of yourself.

You'll find that your self confidence increases the more you give yourself positive messages. With persistent practice this new habit can become the cornerstone for overcoming shyness.

Technology Market / Everything You Need To Know About Apple's Iwatch by OwillyOscar(m): 1:48am On Aug 31, 2014
Features
Expect to see the following features in the iWatch:

Apps – Since the iWatch will run the iOS, it will also be able to run iOS apps. Whether it can use standard iPhone apps or new ones will have to be made specifically for it remains to be seen, but it seems reasonable that most core iOS apps will work on the iWatch.

Fitness – With the success of personal fitness tracking device like the Nike FuelBand (Apple has hired people who worked on it) and the Fitbit product line, it's clear that people are interested in tracking their exercise and other fitness with wearables. Expect a pedometer and other fitness-tracking features.

Health – The iWatch may end up being able to track an impressive amount of health information. Rumors suggest that it will track heart rate, blood oxygen levels, blood pressure, hydration, and more. What's most interesting is that it will do all of this with non-invasive sensors, instead tracking these things with optoelectronics, a technology that uses light to measure these stats. This level of health tracking is much more extensive than what's offered either by fitness bands or other mainstream, consumer smartwatches.

Heart Attack Predictor – This one is a little more out there, but I'm including it because it seems consistent with the iWatch's proposed health-tracking features. Apparently, Apple wants to use the sensors in the iWatch to predict heart attacks its wearers are in danger of suffering. If this could happen, it would be quite a feature.

Celebrities / 10 Makeup Tricks That Will Take Years Off Your Face by OwillyOscar(m): 7:55am On Aug 29, 2014
This 10-step makeup regimen provides an instant face-lift.
Blush -- A Staple for Every Woman's Makeup Bag
A dab of blush can be the perfect finishing touch to a great make-up face. There are many ways to apply it so it highlights your best features, but the most popular application for blush is on the apples of the cheeks.
In fact, if you ever find yourself in a beauty rush with only minutes to apply makeup, I recommend applying tinted foundation, mascara, blush and lipstick. That's all you really need to look flawless.

Wear false lashes
"As we get older, we lose lashes due to hormone changes and age. Today's false lashes give the illusion of lift and fuller lashes without the 'drag' effect," says Babaian. Try ones for the outer corners like Kre-At Beauty Corner Lashes, $16 which will add an instant lift and are less challenging to apply.

A Little Color or Sheen on the Lips Goes a Long Way
I once knew an older woman who only wore lipstick. No mascara, no concealer or powder. Only bright red lipstick. Of course it helped that she had great skin and naturally long lashes that skirted the most intense blue eyes I'd ever seen. But it was the bright red lipstick was the pop that made her look. She chose a color that was flattering to her skin tone. The interesting thing was the red lipstick made her silver gray hair and blue eyes pop, too.

I'm not advocating that you go out and adopt this signature look. But it does prove a point: lipstick can really make or break a look. Too dark lipstick on a heavily made up face can look clownish. If you've made up your eyes heavily then go light on the lipstick and opt for a gloss or light shade. You can go for a bold lip, but if you do, play down the rest of your makeup. A classic combination is the smokey eye, neutral lip look. Another classic combination is a light pink lip and a natural eye.

Phones / 21 Tips To Extend Iphone Battery Life by OwillyOscar(m): 6:06am On Aug 25, 2014
1. Reduce Screen Brightness
You can control the default brightness of your iPhone screen with this slider. Needless to say, the brighter the default setting for the screen, the more power it requires. Keep the screen dimmer to conserve more of your battery.

Dim the screen or turn on Auto-Brightness to extend battery life. To dim manually, go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness and drag the slider to the left. To return to the default behavior, turn Auto-Brightness off and then on again. When Auto-Brightness is on, your screen adjusts to lighting conditions automatically. To activate it, go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness and set Auto-Brightness to On.
Find it in

Settings app
Brightness & Wallpaper
Move the slider as needed

2. Push out
The iPhone's Push function is great if you want an instant notification, but all that background polling for new notifications sucks power a little at a time. Turn to Settings==>Notifications and set Notifications to Off. This will save a little power. Now you've done that you might as well switch off Location Services, too (==>Settings >> General >> Location Services or use location services only when needed.)

3. Stop Motion & Animations (iOS 7)
One of the coolest features of iOS 7 is called Background Motion. It's subtle, but if you move your iPhone and watch the app icons and background image, you'll see them move slightly independently of each other, as if they're on different planes. This is called a parallax effect. It's really cool, but it also drains battery. You may want to leave it on to enjoy the effect, but if not, turn it off this way:

Settings app
General
Accessibility
Reduce Motion
Move slider to green

4. Silence Siri
Siri isn't much use if you don't have a good 3G connection. It doesn't know this, so if you have the 'Raise To Speak' function enabled on your iPhone it will bounce into action when you raise the phone to your ears. Switch that feature off: Go to Settings ==> General ==> Siri ==> Set Raise To Speak to 'off'
5. Make Sure Personal Hotspot Is Off
This only applies if you use the iPhone's Personal Hotspot feature to share your wireless data connection with other devices. But if you do that, this tip is key.
Personal Hotspot turns your iPhone into a wireless hotspot that broadcasts its cellular data to other devices within in range. This is a tremendously useful feature, but as you may have guessed if you've read this far, it also really drains your battery. That's an acceptable trade when you're using it, but if you forget to turn it off when you're done, you'll be surprised at how quickly your battery drains.
To make sure you turn off Personal Hotspot when you're done using it:

Settings app
Personal Hotspot
Move slider to off/white

6. Prevent Background App Refresh (iOS 7)
There are a number of new features in iOS 7 designed to make your iPhone smarter and ready for you whenever you need it. One of these features is Background App Refresh. This feature looks at the apps you use most often, the time of day that you use them, and then automatically updates them for you so that the next time you open the app, the latest information is waiting for you. For instance, if you always check social media at 7:30 am, iOS 7 learns that and automatically updates your social apps before 7:30 am. Needless to say, this useful feature drains battery.
To turn it off:

Settings app
General
Background App Refresh
Either disable the feature entirely or just for for specific apps

7. Manage your email
Applications such as Mail can be set to fetch data wirelessly at specific intervals. The more frequently email or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain. To fetch new data manually, from the Home screen choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Manually. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all applications that do not support push services." You can also turn off auto-checking of email completely: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, choose an email account, and set Account to Off. You'll still be able to check your mail manually as and when you need it.
8. Turn Bluetooth Off
Bluetooth wireless networking is especially useful for cell phone users with wireless headsets or earpieces. But transmitting data wirelessly takes battery and leaving Bluetooth on to accept incoming data at all times requires even more juice. Turn off Bluetooth except when you’re using it to squeeze more power from your battery.
Find it in:

Settings app
Bluetooth
Move Slider to Off/white

You can also access the Bluetooth setting through Control Center. To do that, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap the Bluetooth icon (the center one) so that it is grayed out.

9. Turn Off Other Location Settings
The iPhone can perform a lot of useful tasks in the background, but the more background activity there is, especially activity that connects to the Internet or uses GPS, can drain battery quickly. Some of these features in particular are not required by most iPhone users and can be safely turned off to regain some battery life.
Find them in:

Settings app
Privacy
Location Services
System Services
Turn off Diagnostics & Usage, Location-Based iAds, Popular Near Me, and Setting Time Zone

10. Get an external battery pack or case
There are loads of potential options on the market that will charge your iPhone up when you’re out and about. If you’ve got the room to carry a battery pack with you, it could save you in a jam. Or, you could check out the best iPhone cases and pick one with a built-in battery.

Phones / My Iphone Screen Won't Rotate. How Do I Fix It? by OwillyOscar(m): 12:05pm On Aug 23, 2014
On iOS devices, the rotation lock can be found by double-tapping on the Home button to bring up the multitasking tray, and then sliding from left to-right on the tray. The rotation-lock icon appears as a circular arrow. When the lock is enabled, the circular arrow will have a small lock in the center. To confirm that screen rotation lock is turned on, look in the top right corner of the screen, next to the battery meter, for an icon that looks like a curved arrow surrounding a lock. If you see that, rotation lock is turned on.

To turn it on or off, do the following:

==> In iOS 7 or higher, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal Control Center. (In iOS 6 or lower, double tap the home button on the front of the iPhone or iPod touch. This will reveal the fast app switcher row of apps at the bottom of the screen).

==> In iOS 7, tap the lock-and-curved-arrow icon. If it is white, it's on; black and it's off

==> In iOS 6 or earlier, swipe left to right to reveal the Music app, music player controls, and on the far left, an app with a curved arrow in it (if the lock is turned on, you'll see the lock inside the arrow)

==> To turn screen rotation lock on, tap the curved arrow icon so that the lock appears

==> To turn screen rotation lock off, tap the icon so that the lock disappears

==> When you're done in either version of the iOS, single tap the home button and you'll be returned to normal operation of your device.

==>If this doesn’t fix your locked screen, then there could be a bigger problem. Try doing a hard restart on your iOS device by holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for a few seconds until the device restarts. Release the buttons when you see the Apple logo.

Phones / How To Fix A Wet Iphone Or Ipod by OwillyOscar(m): 1:58am On Aug 22, 2014
In the course of using them, iPhones and iPods sometimes get wet. It's simply just a fact of life. A wet iPhone or iPod doesn't necessarily mean a dead iOS device. Sometimes a wet iPhone can't be saved no matter what you do, but before declaring your gadget dead, make sure you try these tips:

Remove the Battery – In case you’re reading this and you don’t have an iPhone, the first thing you should do is remove the battery to prevent a short circuit. iPhones however have non-removable built in batteries therefore you have no choice but to take next steps.

Never turn it on – This may sound like an obvious piece of advice, but trust me, it’s not, never try to turn it on. Doing this can cause more damage to the electronics inside it. If it's already on, turn it off/lock it as quickly as possible. Always have at the back of your mind that the longer your device is on after it gets wet, the more likely it is to suffer irreparable damage.

Put it in rice – In theory, a bag full of silica packets is awesome, but who really has twenty of those things lying around? If I tear my house completely apart I might be able to find two if I’m having a really lucky day.

Get a ziplock bag big enough to hold the iPhone or iPod and the rice. Put the device inside and then fill most of the rest of the bag with uncooked rice. Leave it in the bag for a few days. In no time, the rice will draw moisture out of the device that you wouldn't be able to get it in any other way. Many wet iPhone has been saved with this rice trick.
