Peace remains a distance dream in Afghanistan as the American University in the Afghan capital, Kabul is under serious militant attack. Several large explosions has been heard and students barricaded inside rooms in the school building say they can hear gunfire close by.

Student Ahmad Mukhtar told the BBC that he was 100m (320ft) away from the university's main entrance when he heard "six or 10" shots and a "huge" blast.

The explosion created so much light that it momentarily lit up the surrounding area, he said.

Official school resumption date is 2nd of September, and without further delay, their GST examination comes on the 19th while main examination is scheduled to start on the 26th of September. As for the year one students who couldn't see their matriculation happened before the strike, they should get prepared as is will happen on the 10th of September.

Manchester United are on the brink of re-signing Paul Pogba from Juventus in a world record breaking of £89m deal. United will pay 105m euros for Pogba and performance related bonuses and other costs could see that figure rise.


Paul Pogba will have a medical in the next few days with the deal due to be completed in midweek. The 23-year-old, who left United for £1.5m in 2012, is set to return for a fee that surpasses Gareth Bale's £85m move to Real Madrid in 2013.

The US citizen killed in a knife attack in central London has been named by police as 64-year-old Darlene Horton. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after she was killed and five other people were injured in Russell Square.

Florida State University (FSU) has confirmed Ms Horton was the wife of psychology professor Richard Wagner.

Two other women and three men received various injuries in the attack, which happened near the Imperial Hotel.

One person from the group remains in hospital while the others have since been discharged. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

After receiving treatment in hospital, the arrested man, who was detained in Bedford Place, is now in police custody in south London.

Police believe the attack on Wednesday was "spontaneous", with victims "selected at random".

The injured people were from the UK, the US, Israel and Australia.

Met Police assistant commissioner for specialist operations Mark Rowley said the investigation was increasingly pointing to the attack being "triggered by mental health issues". He had earlier said the force was considering terrorism as a line of inquiry.

There are several reports confirming that a mandatory MRI screening carried out on 60 eligible players showed almost half were ineligible to play. The existing first XI was far more badly hit, however, with only two players passing the MRI test - an astonishing blow for a squad which won the FIFA U17 World Cup last year for a record fifth time.


MRI tests have been used for several years to prevent age fraud in football, and are considered 99% accurate up to the age of 17. "It is a disaster,” a Nigerian official told the website. "Virtually the first team the coaches have been working on have been disqualified. It’s a serious problem.”


The players who failed the tests have now left the training camp in Abuja, where they were staying ahead of Saturday's Cup of Nations U17 qualifying match against Niger.

"Several of the players were in tears and total shock when the final results came through," adds Samm Audu's report on Africanfootball.com. The police in Imo state have confirmed the identity of a fresh graduate of Imo state University, Owerri, IMSU, who was murdered in his cold blood by fleeing gunmen mid Tuesday. The police confirmed his identity to be Obrin Ibekwe, a newly graduated student who was doing his clearance in preparatory for the mandatory one year National Youth Service corps, NYSC, program. The balloon crashed into a pasture near some power lines around 7:40 a.m. local time near the town of Lockhart, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.


"The balloon was occupied and it does not appear at this time that there were any survivors of the crash," Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel Law said in a smore force "Investigators are determining the number and the identities of victims at this time."

The balloon was operated by Heart of Texas Hot Air Balloon Rides, according to the owner of the company's Facebook account.

The company said in a recorded phone message that its owner and chief pilot, Skip, was killed in the crash along with the passengers.

MTN Group said on Thursday that it would list its Nigeria unit on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2017.

The telecoms company said the listing will be “subject to suitable market conditions” and is part of the agreement reached with Nigerian authorities in the settlement of the fine imposed on MTN for its failure to disconnect unregistered SIM cards.


MTN said it has appointed Stanbic IBTC Capital, the Nigeria unit of South Africa’s Standard Bank, as the lead issuing house for the planned listing. Citigroup Global Markets, Standard Bank, and Standard Advisory London, will act as joint transaction advisors and global coordinators, while other Nigerian parties will be appointed in due course.

In June, MTN reached a deal with Nigerian authorities to pay the regulatory fine of N330 billion over three years. MTN agreed to pay N30 billion in July 2016 and another N30 billion in March 2017. The company will then pay N55 billion in four installments in March 2018, December 2018, March 2019, and December 2019. A N50 billion good faith payment made in February this year also forms part of the deal.

report. The hack follows two data breaches involving the

A failed Syrian 27 years old asylum seeker had detonated a bomb
