Politics2023, The Quest For Victory. by owneebeghjou(op): 1:41pm On Jun 01, 2022
The Emergence of Atiku as the PDP flag bearer for the 2023 election is only in a desperate bid to dislodge the APC caucuses by all means. PDP not deserving a win though, the group are part of the causes of the woes and mess the country is in and they've done nothing to counter the policies and choices of APC government in the past seven years. Especially as Nigeria has now gone from Top to Bottom!

Many are predicting APC would also field a northern candidate to checkmate the choice of PDP's Atiku, but which Northern candidate in APC have the stature, worth and weight to beat Atiku in a general election? NONE!

Except the now unpopular Buhari would contest another impossible third term, he would even lost to Atiku this time owing to his woeful and miserable performance as the president in over seven years.

The best bet for APC to match Atiku's popularity is still a southern candidate. Though, there is speculation of former president Jonathan been lobbied to the APC contest, at the expense of other aspirant which is still gonna be a bad sell because of the dent the same APC has caused on his public image and his political career. That will be difficult to sell even for Lai!

The APC's top contender, Tinubu still remains the best match to PDP's Atiku. They've both come a long way since the third republic, as friends, once political associates and now political rivals. Their popularity, influence, financial stature and spending can be matched. Elections between the two will be a super heavyweight contest. If Tinubu emerge as APC's flag bearer, all he needs is a Northern VP to balance the voting dynamics.

The emerging third force, LP's Peter is also striving and doing well. Kudos to him, he's got finesse and a good economist, with a gentleman character. His exit from the PDP's primary at the last minute makes noticeable his nature and character, yet he's a politician. Though, some will say he chickened out but what can a tortoise do in the race of cheetahs? He simply acted wise, by finding a different track field with opponents of connatural strength and he emerged winner.

Now to the real deal!

Every general election is about popularity, spending and influence that span beyond the immediate local grasp of an aspirant. It's a transcendence beyond geopolitical zone, ethnicity, cultural and religion limitations. Those politicians who are conscious of these facts and more are the ones that are able to excel and do well in any general election. Check who's got a pass among the top contenders.

Nigerian voters are easily swayed by politicians when it comes to electioneering. Politicians seems to have a magic wand of forgetfulness over the populace and the voters, the job to finding their ways to the Aso villa seems easier done only to be confused on what needs to be done for the country and the people afterwards.

Academics has not proven to be of great value in case of Dr. Jonathan.

Professionalism has also failed in case of  Gen. Buhari.

Old Buhari performed woefully and awfully! Likewise, a younger Jonathan didn't do so well.

Despite the finesse, competence, intelligence and even after winning the popular vote, Hilary lost and Americans chose Trump. That is politics!
I remember the popular human rights lawyer and activist, late Gani Fawehimi's aspiration and contest on the NCP platform, he didn't get the sympathy of nigerians to get a deserved winning votes.

Also, the economist and former CBN deputy governor Kingsley Moghalu, despite his eloquence and experience as an economist with beautiful plan to transform the country, his contest on the platform of YPP was a big lose. Another one is the repeated failure of popular Pastor Chris Okotie to garner a million votes in all his 4 contest despite the followership of his church and the population of Nigerian Christians. These are the real dynamics of electioneering that all politicians understand.

The 2023 election will not be much different, except that the three major tribe will emerge in different parties as flag bearer, the APC will most likely retain power and it'll be to the Southwest. Northeast may get VP slot, and Southeast may get SP. These are permutations that are obtainable, delays in primaries and shifting are only to get in good terms and a good deal with a would be flag bearer.

Whether APC, PDP or LP, may the best party win and may the best candidate that would change the fortune of the country for better emerge overall.

God bless Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Fiscal Federalism: Lagos Requests For 1% In Revenue Allocation Formula by owneebeghjou: 12:51pm On Oct 05, 2021
aikyg:
Lagos is one state in Nigeria that can afford to be a country of its own, without taking any loan from anybody. This statement is entirely true as long as they have access to the oil in the Niger Delta. The economy of Lagos was built by money from other parts of the country. Lagos has no major mineral resources and the indigenes are not one of the best educated in Nigeria. Highly intelligent people from different parts of the country moved Lagos to where it is today and most of them were raised and educated in other states.

Now, the question is should Lagos state alone take all the proceeds of the labour and investment that smart people from other states put in to bring the state to where it is today or should there be a form of reparation in the spirit of brotherhood and 'justice'?
.

Your thinking lacks good insight.
The request of a special status for Lagos state does not negate that there are people from other states contributing their quota to the development of the state. It is simply a call for more to be done from the center to help the state and the people prosper the more.

Whether you are from Ikot, Awomama, Kwale, or Dajin Kowa, every tribe in Nigeria have a stake in Lagos state.

Nairaland GeneralThe Great Lagend, Fela by owneebeghjou(op): 5:01pm On Nov 09, 2018
No other African artist has ever been so loud as the Great Legend, Fela. The situation nowadays is just about singing for award and dollars, the artist of thisday cower for the fear of the unknown but continue to join in the suffer train years after their fame starts to diminish...

The great Fela never relent in his outcry about the bad leadership of Africans and the bad mentorship of their colonial counterparts, the problem are still there, but baba Fela is no more there to sing it and no other artist is singing it so loud as he would have.

No wonder he's still so cherished within Africa and around the world. Even years after his demise, he is still very much in the minds of the populace home and abroad.

He was never seen to compromise whether for the love of money, position or material things, he just stick to the truth like ants would stick to sugar. In the face of military threats and whip, he never stopped.

His lyrics cut across virtually every problems traumatizing Africa in his days and in the present. When will they listen?

I wish our leaders would look inwards, reflect and begin to make necessary changes now that there is still time. It is what the great Legend stood for, a lasting solution by African and for all Africans. But the African leaders have only continued to be selfish and greedy...

God is good to Africans but we need to be good to ourselves.

I do not believe the media and all this police bu**sh*t. The story seems like a nollywood drama narrative. What investigation has been carried out to ascertain the accused really perpetrated this evil act?

Someone here said it might be a conspiracy, I share that view also.

PoliticsRe: There's No Alternative To Restructuring - Atiku Counters President Buhari by owneebeghjou: 9:45am On Jun 28, 2018
why does our politicians always think the only way to fixing the country problem is until they become the president or hold a political office?

If Atiku believes so much that restructuring is the way, how has he propagated his ideology?
Why wait till you become the president?
Thereafter we begin to hear all sort of excuses and blames.

It is high time you start to fund a NGO which can propagate your ideas to the point of implementation. Fund organizations that will understand your political opinions and work for it.

Becoming the president is never the solution required to solve the problems of the nation.
PoliticsRe: Time For False Pride Is Over - Soyinka Asks Buhari To Seek Help Over Killings by owneebeghjou: 9:23am On Jun 28, 2018
More comments and statements about the killings will definitely force the sleeping old man to do something. The news of killing are becoming normal in daily publications. It used to be 10s and now it has risen to 100s. Fast action is required as has been advised. Mr President should heed the words of the wise.

Condolence is truly not enough, deliberate actions are required to make the cattle herders understand that the life of a human is not equal to the life of a cattle. If all the killings are on the basis that cattle are been rustled, then it is all a mess. A different law as established by the cattle herders association cannot be allowed to absorb the law of the entire country.

I always don't understand why people cannot just make an objective comment. The basis for the speech of this man is to stop incessant killings and find a final solution to a situation which now seems a constant menace and it can't be overemphasized.

It poses a threat to national unity and it has to be addressed urgently. Cast hate and tribalism off your mind for a short while!!!
CelebritiesRe: Police To Question D'banj's Family On The Death Of His Son by owneebeghjou: 8:22am On Jun 26, 2018
The move to probe or investigate is commendable as the announcement of the accident is all over the media. It is only normal that the police issue a statement as they have done, I only hope that there will be investigation or probing as specified.

Such professionalism is what is obtainable in other advanced countries of the world. For those that thinks the police are doing it for the reason of D'banj's status, it is a wrong notion, and I think it just normal that probing is done. Though it might not be to criminalize anyone but to find the root cause and prevent a reccurence.

A decline in the comportment of our police has only made us to suspect every of their actions and I think the police should continue to improve in attaining confidence and trust of the people.
HealthRe: The Doctors Forgot A Gauze Bandage Inside Me After Surgery (Disturbing Photo) by owneebeghjou: 7:54am On Jun 24, 2018
dokyOloye:
Doctors all over Nigeria perform thousands of surgeries weekly under d most terrible conditions like no electricity, no working air conditioning, operating with phone torchlights,no automated anaesthesia machine,no ultrasound guidance, poor infection control, and worse.
Yet,they manage to keep the general public alive and well.
But anytime there's a mishap like is inevitable even in first world countries, ppl like you come and vent your inferiority complex and envy on doctors.
Well, its good a whole lot of us are out or planning to go out already,at least to get a better working environment.
My dear, my point is for our doctors to be more dedicated and understand that lives of their patient is at stake when there is mistake or error that would not be disclosed such as this. Even if going out as you have stated, would such mistake be made by a certified practioners without a sanction or even losing a license?
My point is straight and unbiased, the practitioners should begin to be held responsible for avoidable mistakes/errors.

If stories such as this are published as I stated, it creates awareness amongst other practitioners and as such they avoid same mistakes. I believe you won't like to find your self or a loved one in the situation of this patient, likewise I wouldn't also.

For the record: I don't envy doctors and I am not inferior to them, I can't do a doctor's job and a doctor can't do my job. But when patients trust you to treat and heal as you have been trained and you caused avoidable complications on them, it is enough to cause a vent. Again if it was outside of this country, you wouldn't even blame my venting. In my profession, they say: if you can't do it well, don't do it at all.
HealthRe: The Doctors Forgot A Gauze Bandage Inside Me After Surgery (Disturbing Photo) by owneebeghjou: 8:44pm On Jun 23, 2018
Stories like these one should not just be restricted to a forum like this, this kind of story should be on a national daily or broadcast on a national TV. It is high time Medical practitioners be held responsible for their mistakes or carelessness. Many patients have lost their lives for reasons of such mistakes, worst still, people die for not knowing what killed them due to medical mistakes leading to health complications. From wrong prescription, wrong diagnosis, wrong doses to covering it all up and the secrecy to not reveal mistakes of each other, it goes on and on.

The fact as I see it is that, lots of the practitioners are in for the money and the accolades, they shuttle between 2 to 3 jobs everyday but doesn't take responsibility as the job requires, no phsycological check. Doctors in this part of the world does not give a da*n about anybody except that they come to work late, close early, go on strike, and make mistakes but only a very small percentage of them are dedicated.

How many more mistakes does people have to die for?
How many more people have to die of unknown complications?
How many more medical mistakes have to be swept under the carpet?
How many more incompetent medical student has to be certified as medical doctors?
For how long shall we continue like this?
How did we get here?

Seek knowledge
My friends and fellow Nigerian, please read the text below carefully without sentiment to your belief…

While it might not be compulsory for us to know some certain things, it becomes necessary when our circumstances require that we know. As a Nigerian and a Yoruba I learnt while I was very young that when you put a leaf in your mouth in front of a deaf and dumb it means you abuse his/her mum, it means you dare him/her and so on. I was naïve and I tried it with a playmate that was deaf and dumb, we got into a serious fight and we were separated after a while, from that moment, I understood the lesson and that was my first and last trial about that.

Now, to the trending religious arguments and misconception especially about the image of Islam and muslims as portrayed by the media and the hatred as shown by many individuals or group especially people of the Christain faith. I say to you...

Islam is a religion, a Muslim is an individual and while the two are inter-related they cannot be interchanged, even in language studies sometimes, two synonymous words cannot be used interchangeably. Islam is a religion perfected and ordained by God for all mankind and the Jinn, it is believing in one God, believing in the prophets, believing in the day of judgment (end time), believing in the books and believing in destiny. It teaches peace, patience, perseverance, tolerance, forgiveness, mercy, respect, love, loyalty, generosity and so on.

A Muslim is an individual and a human like any other, who can believe, who can err, who can change due to circumstances, and who can be tried by the devil like any other human. He can vary in his act of goodness, in his way of worship, communication, relationship, knowledge and so on. He can be ignorant, dull, aggressive and intolerant. In other words, a Muslim cannot be perfect and not every act of a Muslim can be said to be Islamic especially when such act is not in accordance with the teachings and the norms of Islam.

There is always a hype to defame Islam each time a Muslim man or woman has done something wrong which is not the case for other religion, in fact most people condemn Islam ignorantly because of the act of a singular person or group of people consisting of few Muslims. Islam is practiced by billions of people in the world, the decision of a particular few to choose a path of violence can therefore not be put on the whole entity or even the religion itself. I take an excerpt I read on Facebook recently, “John commits a crime and John gets blamed but Abdullah commits a crime and Islam gets blamed”, why so?

There is plenty of good aspect and practices of Islam that have been neglected such as; living and coexisting with and among others even when they are non-Muslims; Patience in judgment, patience in action, patience in decision and patience even when gravely offended; perseverance in hard times; tolerance of family, friends, neighbors, travellers, even when they are non-Muslims; forgiveness and mercy when wrong has been done against you; respect for the belief of others; love for your family, friends and neighbor especially when they are non-Muslims. It goes on and on than can be contained within this text.

Example of some of this practices as mentioned above can be seen in most Arab countries; Dubai being my first reference, is a location for trade and tourism for people around the world of different belief and race. Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan also are all good examples. Even in our Nigeria, Muslims in different parts of the country coexist with people of different religion with peace and love as can be seen in plenty cases.

For the Muslims that has read the text to this stage, please shun violence and promote love, tolerance and coexistence as thought by the Prophet (S.A.W). Be a Muslim that knows the consequence of how you let the others perceive Islam. Incessant and unjustified killing or harm against others should never be an action any Muslim should be proud of regardless of the situation; it doesn’t portray a good image of our religion. Your status as a Muslim seems something the world is after and should therefore not be used to tarnish or degrade the image of the other billions. Don’t retaliate impulsively and try returning a bad deed with a good deed always as practiced by the Prophet (S.A.W).

Finally, for the non-Muslims that has read the text to this stage, please stop condemning and defaming Islam, stop abusing Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) and the entire Muslims for the fault of a few. Ask a Muslim close to you as a friend or family before you make comment against any action, the media report are not always accurate and mostly are on a mission to incite comments. In short say what you know and not what you heard. Be open minded and find facts about what you seem not to know.

Islam remains a religion of peace regardless of the previous and present circumstances. I am a Muslim…
