Islam for Muslims / Re: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by owo(m): 7:22am On Dec 08, 2005
No... absolutely none...I've searched all over.... and I've started again recently.

I would really love to see even 'half' a mention...
Religion / Re: Are Christians in Conflict or Does the Bible Contradict Itself? by owo(m): 1:14pm On Dec 07, 2005
kismat:

owo, Islam references the bible because...its an article of faith to believe in Jesus. ....Muslims HAVE to believe in Jesus for them to be Muslims.

According to you Muslims must believe in Jesus for them to be Muslims. But Christians , I know, must not, should not and cannot believe in Islam for them to be Christians.
Therefore, without the Christian faith.... there is no Islam. On the other hand, Christianity does not need, neither does it care about the existence of the Muslim faith.
You can make your deductions from there.

The point is;
This thread should not be distracted from its noble/enlightening/educating object, goal, direction and focus. You were doing just that. Please let this most interesting discourse be.... you have no portion nor inheritance in it(I guess). Thank you.
Religion / Re: Are Christians in Conflict or Does the Bible Contradict Itself? by owo(m): 9:51am On Dec 07, 2005
From beginning, this thread,  has made good reading especially the discourse between nferyn(PBUH?), Layi (PBUH?) and some other great minds. Its really been stimulating and enlightening.

But here comes one Kismat... and the whole stuff has become uninteresting.

He has told us that we all had the same religion when we were born... and that is his own. Logic and elementary school mathematics have refused to tell him that the religion (?)could also have been nferyn's or Layi's. Indeed it must have been that of these guys and certainly not his own.

He has said that because his forehead touches the ground when praying and others do not practice such, therefore he is right and closer to Jesus(PBUH). I wonder why his religion must always use Layi's religion as a basis for correctness. By constantly using the Bible as its basis, this religion declares that it cannot stand on its own... it needs the support of another to survive.  If the references to the Bible were removed from his religion's book... it would cease to make any meaning (at least so it seems). Yet the Bible does not waste any ink in referring to his religion. This religion must be using name-dropping as a means of gaining acceptance.

He has quoted things/verses in the Bible that he has absolutely no understanding. Even Nferyn... who claims to be an atheist is more versed in the Bible than him who claims to be a man of religion. For how can a man born of a woman question the death of Christ (as stated in the Bible) without questioning the resurrection and the life that it brought()

I therefore advise him to let this most interesting discourse be. Many of the issues he is raising here have been properly handled in other threads.

Information, knowledge and wisdom are the keys to this world.... Please allow them to reign.
Religion / Re: The Church of Jesus Christ: Object of Mockery or Object of Praise? by owo(m): 6:09pm On Dec 06, 2005
@Ajisafe : "The Muslims have been promised in the Qur'an that God will make Islam overcome all other religions. That's why you don't see them running around like the Jehovah's Witnesses who go from one house to another, and some "born again" preachers who scream inside buses or "molue" disturbing other people's peace and quiet. And this is because God is the Lord and the Omnipotent over all things."

...be careful... I'm sure you may not be able to muster the time and courage to face the issues that you are raising.

1. After the promise to muslims as stated by you.... they now try to help their god by bombing and killing so that they will enter thier self made heaven... abi? Therefore, it is either the promise cannot be their god or it was never made.
2. who disturbs more... the people that wake us up early in the morning with call for prayers ... or those who shout during the day.
3. if muslims were so sure of their faith... how come they do not allow others to preach or practice their religion where-ever they are the majority. It is the most obvious mark of insecurity when a person or group of persons refuse to hear alternative views or allow debate. It is bondage and nothing less.
4. Those who kill men and women because they have converted... declare to the world, by their action, that they are secretly doing something underneath which they would not want others to know through the conversion of their former members. Only evil cults do such.

Every sword has adouble edge.... be careful

oh yes.... the me-rix (reverse of remix)... tells the story so well. May we not continue to be cowards that cannot confront our leaders when they lead us into the 'un-promised' land, as they are doing now. Amen
Politics / How to shut down Nigeria - lessons from MASSOB by owo(m): 1:28pm On Dec 06, 2005
Seems that this is how to shut down Nigeria and chase away these corrupt, immoral and tribalistics charlatans at the head of our government.

Socio-Economic activities in most parts of the South-East were grounded on Monday while passengers, especially those travelling to Lagos and Abuja were stranded, as the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra began a stay-at-home protest.

The shut down of the geopolitical zone is to protest the arrest and detention of MASSOB Leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, and to press for the group’s demand for an independent nation for the Igbo.

MASSOB called the protest after Uwazurike was arrested on October 25. He was charged with treason and the court remanded him in custody.

For a man who was part of every coup from 1966 till 1976.
After retirement, he came back into coups... the 1999 version... did one in 2003 (do you think your votes counted...if you voted all), and perfected the art against Ngige.

What else do you expect from him?

If the corruption in the federal government is better than that of Bayelsa... then, believe me, the moon would shine brighter than the sun.

Seun:

He employed Ngozi Okonji-Iyeala as Finance minister and got us billions of dollars in debt relief. He reaches out to foreign investors to let them know that Nigeria is safe for business. He has done well so far.

The debt which they stole.... money which we have not seen what they they were used for.

For constucting Lagos - Abeokuta Road... he deserves to become life president in Ogun State
On every other scale; He should be 'tried' for 'treason' 'cos he's worse than 'Maradona'-the 'evil genuis'.

If Nigeria were indeed safe for business...We'll be looking for ways of controlling the influx of investments. Even indigenous investments would surpass evey expectation. This guy is a failure and we must'nt use every means to sell ice to Eskimos.

I was having (about twice a week or so) bouts of Migrain and the accompanying severe eye pain. One day I prayed to God about it and it left just like that.
That was 14 years ago, It has never come back since... not even a sign of it..

Do nothing... allow her to live her life. There are 40 million ladies in Nigeria that you can choose from...LOL
If she is yours you'll definitely have her back.
You cannot coerce her into a relationship. It will backfire.

Which one person will you have proposed? President Olusegun Obasanjo or Seun Osewa?

I think it's wise as they decided to choose one Hausa person and one Ibo person

Who is the Ibo person, please? There is no Ibo person on that currency- quite like calling a French man , a German because the latter has a higher population. He is Efik / Ibibio whichever you prefer.

A wise workman uses his tools while a foolish one blames his tools for his failures...

God in his wisdom has "...given some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints...for the edifying of the body......,till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man... that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro... by the trickery of men..., but speaking the truth in love" (emphases ...mine) eph4;11-15

None of these gifts can be properly exercised outside the Church environment neither can the benefits (stated) be fully harnessed/received/applied without recourse to this same environment or body.

Think again and take the wise choice.

I know one soldier who is a Colonel in the Army...
He does not belong to any battallion, armoured brigade, catonement, corp etc etc ....yet he is a soldier. He works directly with/for the comander-in-chief (c-in-c) of the armed forces.
He does not report to any superior officer other than the c-in-c.
He receives his salary dirctly from the hand of the c-in-c, though there is a department created for the purpose of handling his salary issues.
During war time he has takes orders only from the c-in-c, though there are Generals that have been designated by the C-in-C to give him orders.
He does not go to the Military hospital when wounded at battle.... he goes to the C-in-C's office for his healing.

The name of this soldier is ........ the person that does not belong to a church, body of fellow belivers, congregation or whatever name it can be called.

Though there are many things that we may not like in Church... Nevertheless, God had placed them in this world as one of the most important avenues through which He passes his Word, grace, comfort, punishment, blessings, favour etc etc.

It is wise not to neglect it... you do it at your own peril. It does not remove anything from God neither does it diminish who He is.

Car Talk / Re: Let's Talk About Flying Cars! by owo(m): 4:50pm On Nov 11, 2005
It is possible and will certainly be the way to go in the not-too-distant-future.

Safety: with GPS (global position system), autopilot and anti-collision systems already at work.safety is guaranteed.
Its already gone from being an idea.... men are already working on it as their full time job. Air transport is currently the most safe means of transport. Crashes have not taken the record from it.

Takeoff: Its already been addressed... upward thrust as a reaction to downward exhaust

Noise: Its an issue... the current thinking is that we have to ensure that the cabin is sound proof to a large extent. We'll see how it works out.

Economics: may be the only thing that may delay its take off. But with fuel cells and hydrogen technologies being encouraged by the high cost of petroleum.... who knows.. the break even point could be reached sooner than later

It just requires regulation like we have in the air transport sector. Think.

Are there too many churches in Nigeria?, Are Nigerian Pastors scammers?, Why do we have so much corruption in the midst of so many churches? .... you can go on and on.
Has the Church really failed as being touted?

As we share views and trade blames and accusations let us remember the multitude of lives that have been permanently altered for good by God through the Churches. I am a classic example.
If not for God, through the Church, I would have been a terrorist leader today. Maybe some people in this forum would not have been alive because I would have blown up a lot of things and maybe they would have been affected but God, through the church saved me. I was so hurt by the injustice metted out on my people by the Nigerian state that NOBODY under the sun could have stopped us.

I don't give a damn about what a British journalist says, their ungodly society that turns churches to pubs, encourages divorce and promotes an unjust war is not worth copying in this regard. They should go and tackle Islam that is ravaging their soceity, afterall we have tackled ours

The Nigeria we see today would have been billions of times worse if it were not for the Church.

Most of the positive defining Characteristics that we see in Nigerians today(positive outlook in the face of ovbious disadvantages, resilience, hardwork etc) are the imprints that the Church has left on the society.

I close with a few questions.
1. Where else would have been better for the millions that flock to redeemed camp and other churches every friday night. ....Overnight dancing halls? Armed robbery gangs? Occultic temples? watching ponographic movies?
2. In a failed state like ours, what would you do with 60 million youths?.... leave them to learn all their moral lessons from the internet and failed schools? or allow them to have good moral education in Church, if they choose to?
A society that is about to crumble always starts by rejecting God... go check out the history books.

I submit that we do not yet have enough Churches neither do we have enough preachers.
That some wolves have come in sheep clothing does not in any way remove the need for the the Church.
