The movie Wall Street: Money never sleeps, Jully said: '' 1929. It's the end of the world...'' Over the next 2 weeks, Nigerians will panic, many will stop going out, grocers will experience low patronage, NSE will tank seriously...blah blah blah.'' Robert Kiyosaki's article Predators' ball comes to mind. Personally, I wished I hadn't cherry-picked some stocks recently, though still sitting on enough cash. After 2 weeks, for one reason or the other, Nigerians will realize that it's not the end of the world. Gradually, life returns to ''normal''. Some folks would have bought some stocks at dirt-cheap prices.

The most important thing is to know what you have bought and why you have bought, don't let the noise in the market place confuse you.

It is very possible that you have bought right and yet the share price can still depreciate, it is almost impossible to time the market. Trying to time the market, might make you miss opportunities in the market.

AP
I took a screenshot of the above. I need to internalize the wisdom in it. Eventually I have to invest in stocks that yield good dividends, as I age. What better time than a bear market to get such @ good prices!!! The challenge is that price fluctuations can be alarming. I need to work more on my self-control because there will always be noise.

This is a fundamental question.
What if the number of shares that company quotes as outstanding shares are fake. What if there is continuous supply being brought to the market in collusion with the regulatory authority.
Is there any way this can be detected and verified?

Watch the technicals of stocks frequently. If you are a good trader, you will always know when stocks signal buy.For example when livestock was 50kobo,I noticed the technicals but never interested in it.

Right now,you can take a look at caverton and Nahco. These two stocks will deliver 10% for Jijoist if you can get in at 2.50.

I am not afraid of entering a stock in volume hence my entry is right.

Afriprud is not exempted too.

There will be serious blood next week.watch these three stocks and enter at a good price.
Baba, thanks for your insight. I go try this approach with about 30% of my cash in the next 1 month, & see how it goes.

I am just addressing reasons why we are always trap in stocks. Most of us here are always looking for 50-100% and it hardly come.
Sir Loco, I agree with u. 10% of 5m na 500k. Even if one is able to make that kain gain once in 3 weeks, I bam. But if u lose 10%, dat means say 5m don become 4.5m b dat.
Anyways which stock can make 10 to 12% gain in d next 4 weeks? Then what do I need to know to be able to identify such stock(s)?

In this case, I was lucky not to be affected. But as a trader or businessman, I will never pray for calamity to befall the market because I earn a part of my income from there. My portfolio increases in value when the market is going up.

I have observed that when an experienced person mentions to a newbie that he has made an 80% gain on a stock, the newbie wants 80% too, or MORE!!! That is a problem. A newbie who wants to gain without knowing HOW or WHAT the expert knows. I have been that newbie b4. Also, when the market is bullish, everyone becomes an expert. So whatever they say seems to work. For a newbie, averaging down is b*llshit, you're simply throwing good money after a bad choice. Nobody can time the market. Really, how long can you continue to average down?! undecidedIndicators & charts only reveal or confirm a trend. When indicators tell u that money is flowing out, & chartists tell u something similar or it appears so, if you're not rich, please leave the market. If Yok declares 100% gain on a stock HE identifies, while u safely makes a gain of 20 to 30% AFTER he identifies it, be contented, chop your gains safely. Don't allow someone tell you a stock can't fall OR rise beyond a particular price. Its ALL skilled educated GUESS work.

It's not advisable to keep abreast of the stock market during your day job. Especially on a red day. Two people have asked if I'm okay. Na to look at pricelist in the evening.

I see a movie.
There is an outbreak of the zombie virus. You're a soldier in a military base which will soon be under attack. You have very good munitions that can take out the zombies. BUT you don't know the number of zombies coming. Even your CO knows munitions don't last forever.
However, an aircraft carrier will be leaving in the next one hour, you can choose to leave if you wish. You'll be safe, but will lose out on some per diem allowance. You can return to base once this wave of attack is over.

Seriously, sir? I guess the best advice is for newbies like me to set their objectives and follow their plan. All chartists, except one, here saw uptrend throughout the month. So ayam not understanding sir. grin grin grin
U've not been paying attention to details. Ifà first predicted a downtrend. A few days ago, Agba started saying "wait o, e be like say I dey see something like a downtrend", then he was no longer commenting like b4, that #20 for UACN is for quarter 2. Fxuser came begin dey mention say u fit they see pullbacks. Yok come dey talk no worry, dem never breach 28000 angry. Now couple this with the ASI which started to weaken. Finally Morgan come send report wey show say FPI dey exit, net net. Day 1 be suspicious, Day 2 of trading should confirm your suspicions, Day 3 execute your decision.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by owoblow77: 4:36am On Jan 31, 2020
My advice to any newbie wey no too get money ( e.g. u get less than 1 milli in NSE) be say get out of any stock you're in today. When PFI or asset managers decide to exit a stock, there's nothing u can do, the price will continue to drop. Don't average down, u lose more that way. If you've lost 25%, cash out and move on. If u don't, and the market keeps falling, you'll lose more than 25% in 1 week. Wait until people here start to say the market is on the move, then jump on the elevator that is going up. Start to learn stock market charts and how to interpret balance sheet. Know monikers on this thread to follow, they give hints subtly. Charts are very important. Pay attention to what the chartists here say. But when the market is going down, please get out, you're NOT a Nigerian politician. Forget all that resistance or support level for now.

My biggest mistake(?) this season was to have bought more UACN @10.5. I thought it had a well established support at this price! Before this, my average price was in the late #6s (and I was holding quite a few). I started buying from #7s down to #5s.

The last poor entry has now taken me to early #8s. I have a very healthy appetite for holding, so no fretting.

I will top up tomorrow.

Why am I disclosing this? When it does 3/4 baggers, I wouldn't want anyone to classify me as a mouth maker. @Owoblow77, pls take note!
At full offer today, Uacn shares on offer was about 120million naira, which is about 330,000usd. That amount is small for a "deep pocket", who could've bought everything grin When a newbie reads a post, and she forms an impression in the mind that a deep pocket got her back, that's not fair. If a newbie has an opportunity to bail out of a position that will hurt her portfolio, but didn't because a 'deep pocket' says don't worry, I've got enuf cash to defend this share price, that's... angryAnyways I'm not in love with any stock, I just wanna make money. If u like, make a 20 bagger, mmhnn mmhnn... angry not my biz.
