One thing I like about the NSE is that you can make money in times like this. You only need to distill information properly, and stop looking at prices everyday.
1. TA guys predicted that the market is on the uptrend (Onifa, I see you).
2. A few loss making companies announced their turn around plans. Their current share prices are about 10% of what they used to be. They pulled of loss-making subsidiaries (e.g. Wapco, UACN). Accountants like Pluto and Rebekah analysed here that such divestments will be good for the company results going forward.
3. OGG now makes an analysis (which makes a lot of sense)of what you will get when you invest in such stocks. Case in point: FO BO will be prorated. It seems it has. You don get expo o.
4. OGG and I think Peteru have made postulations on what you will benefit in UACN, the number of shares you'll get in REITS and UPDC. Also that 85% of debts was in UPDC. Simply multiply what they say you'll get by current share prices.
5. Get a good sum and buy those shares, and move on.
6. Guy, if you no make money from NSE with all this info, and you're still asking about hot stock, then you're on a long thing.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by owoblow77: 8:14am On Dec 05, 2019
It appears so.
I think it was OGG who explained that it was going to be prorated. I took a decision after I read his explanation and sold off all my units leaving about 500. I had about 10k units of FO at that time and had offered 50% for the BO. When I divided the credit I got yesterday by 66.25 (the BO price), it appears I was credited for about 80 units.
Jymsyno:
I offered my FO for grabs in the tender offer by the new bride. I have just 200 units but was dumfounded when I got alert for N198.25 in my GTB account today. In my calculation that is just about 3 units. A
Is it prorated?

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by owoblow77:
Sir Loco, all 3 stocks; FCMB, FIDELITY, & UACN, have delivered about 30% in the last 3 months. Also, no share price moves in a straight line. Even if a stock will deliver 1000%, it's price will move in a zig zag manner. So all stock prices move "irrationally". Also, when you say "oxygen" , do you mean cash? UACN simply wrote-off a bad debt in UPDC, on which they may still get some cash back. Banks carry NPLs too. Provided current assets can meet liabilities, the company is a going concern. I own all the 3 stocks, just trying to provide some perspective. All prices are right per time, they are largely influenced by perceptions, speculations.
locodemy:
Of course fcmb will still move
But not an oxygen stock.
Why Uacn is behaving irrationally is due to no oxygen.

So why I do jijo in Fcmb,
I do a safer investment in Fidelity.
Hope you are getting my point before anyone misquote me o.

@Bamofin: Hope u got answers to ur questions? I think a lot of UACN folks will offer their REITS and UPDC prop shares for sale, once the spin offs are completed. At least, that's what I'll do. It's just a bonus na grin. So, maybe the REITS price may fall in the medium term. Well, one never really know these things undecided
Hopefully, by April/May 2020, UACN would give me good dividends(REITS & PROP shares) and great capital appreciation.

Guys, I got a mail from a fellow Nairalander. He asked a question, and he's given me permission to post here.
Bamofi, I'm sorry for not being able to respond on time. I'm still trying to recuperate from a surgery. I'll log-out immediately I post your request:

Hello bro, I have been a silent reader on NL for more than a decide mostly on stock and property sections. I registered recently as I wanted to ask questions on means of following trade on stocks listed on the REIT board of the NSE. About a month ago I bought a sizeable quantity of updcreits at N5 because I saw on the NSE corporate disclosure that the will pay about 62k dividend in November. My stockbrokers say they do not know how I can follow trade in the stock online realtime. You recently asked question about the stock hence my contacting you. My question is whether you know how I can follow trade in the stock o line as I want to sell immediately I qualify for dividend. The stock is updcreit, not updc. Having just registered am not yet allowed to post on nsepa. You may also help me post the query on Nl too. Thanks. Bamofi 1

The exercise of the discretionary power of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to regulate the economy may soon have a negative impact on the country’s N9.4 trillion pension funds.

The CBN had, in a circular signed by its Director, Financial Markets Department, Angela Sere-Ejembi, directed banks to exclude individuals and local corporates from investing in Open Market Operations (OMO) auctions with effect from October 23, this year.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by owoblow77: 10:31am On Oct 31, 2019
Until an accountant explains the result, its still hasty to conclude that UACN is ''bad'' market. I get interest in this stock. I'llbuy in bits when the fall ''stabilizes''. All I wan confirm be say UACN no go declare loss ontop UPDC again, becos dem don pay 17bn for am. Because all these accountants can be funny with dem IFS 35 blah blah blah. Those offering for sale may not really understand why dem wan sell. Buyer's market.

@ Pluto @ Rebekah:
My ogas, I studied engineering; therefore, my accounting skills no dey there.
Please I'd like to clarify some points. If UACN accounted for the losses made in UPDC this quarter, will they also account for it next quarter? Like Ucheson mentioned, the eps declared was 344k (which is impressive). If dem pay for the un-bundling this quarter, then they may be able to declare a net positive eps next quarter. I no know accounting o undecided undecided undecided

@ Paito Vee and Mcy56:
I will base my opinion on the document sent in August 2019 to Forte Oil shareholders.
In that Mandatory Takeover Offer, it was highlighted that you will be paid when 2 conditions are fulfilled:
1. You complete the form to indicate that you're interested in the transaction.
2. You have not sold those shares when they are being transferred to Ignite Investments.
The second point implies that you can still sell your shares after you have indicated interest (by completing the form). In that case, you won't get paid because you don't have the ''goods'' in your ''shop''.
I think that your broker will send the forms to you today (to indicate interest), since qualification is today. Otherwise, reach out to them for clarity.
Mcy56:
Vee, did they mention that they're delisting it? Cos me I didn't see where that was stated so far. When Ignite bought from Otedola, it was still trading on the exchange, nothing has changed except there'll be a future action but until then, calm your nerves, make we enjoy the small rally. smiley
Filling the form is optional anyway.....but I think it's better to fill it, even if they don't buy, it's worth trying at least. Also, there's nothing like freezing once you sell to them, they collect your shares and pay you money, shikena!
BTW, have you received the form? Or did your broker send it to you?

I downloaded the NSE report as well, and studied it. I never knew such reports existed, so I might make some mistakes in my analysis. A market manipulator could try to distort the market by making transactions, so I won't really focus on increase or decrease in volumes of transactions. Rather, I'd try to figure out what their 'net' intent is; are they leaving or staying? According to the table, there were only 2 months when the FPI money were net in-flows, which are August and September. In my opinion, it just shows that the net foreign out-flow has slowed down a bit.
The table does not provide much information to help understand fully, the 'intents' of domestic retail and institutional.
I have tried to avoid a repetition of points already highlighted by previous posters.
Tomorrow, I will visit my bank to liquidate part of my t-bills in the secondary market. It's time for me to start buying. Please, how can I get such NSE reports, at release?
It appears Rabbi's TA tools rightly 'captured' the bottom after-all.
