Christianity EtcRe: Between Jesus And Paul, Who Founded Christianity And It Doctrines. by owoleola: 2:23pm On Aug 02, 2017
I don't see any contradiction between Paul's teachings and james' or with any Apostles........,as someone posted earlier, both Apostles meant same faith but used works here in different contexts,it is of a solid truth that works don't save but faith, otherwise Jesus' death would be in vain,I mean,He should have just left the law to do the work of salvation..........,If you read james' argument in context,it will be glaring he was just talking about professing christians, who claim to have faith, the faith that wrought no works in them.So it is simple, works do not save, that is,there must be an inward transformation(regeneration) in you first, this is done by no means of the will of man but of God,then follows faith in christ(which of course inevitable),and this faith will bring good works, must bring good works(this is to say the works testify the faith and not the reverse).lets see the chain again in order,God quickens/calls/draws a man first, then he seeks God,then he finds God(and as a result have faith in Him),then this faith produces good works. And you must know that no part in this chain pulls off.

I'm not ranking apostles either. What I said is that since Peter got it wrong is it also possible that Paul got it wrong too? Or did Paul have a special anointing of the spirit that Peter didn't have.
Okay,may be i should just ask,what is wrong with Paul's teachings?.....,mention one

Ubenedictus:
You are creating a false dichotomy, even paul was a jew-like christian just like Jesus and prayer.

Paul was known to visit the temple anytime he was in Jerusalem, he made a point of going to the synagogues every time he arrives a town and he also preach first to Jews until he was rejected by them before the gentiles.

It was after he failed with the Jews that he styled himself apostle of the gentiles and left Jewish conversion to others.

Peter wasn't exclusively for the Jews either, he began the welcoming of the gentiles with cornelius declaring the gentiles to be christian and historically he is known to have preach in gentiles launch.

Stop the false dichotomy.
Thanks
Paul didn't style himself to be an apostle to the gentiles
Acts 9:15King James Version (KJV)

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

Since Peter can miss it, I wonder, is it ever possible for Paul to miss it. Both of them having the same Holy Spirit.
what am saying is that, peter got it wrong when he thought gentiles would have to be conformed to the jewish laws and all that.......Apostle Paul later cleared this by telling us circumcision and uncircumcision were nothing,i am not ranking Apostles here.....tell me,what do you believe, have the laws been done away with or not?

read a couple of your posts on this topic, you have to be careful so that you dont embrace legalism.......Paul's teachings never contradicted the Gospel, his teachings are mainly centered on Grace, which is the bedrock of the Gospel, the law has been done away with on the cross,in fact the law was not given so that anyone could be justified by it in the first place, was only for condemnation.in other words, the law was not given to show God how incapable man was, instead to tell man himself how wretched he is.........dont get confused,Peter and Paul may be apostles to the jews and gentiles respectively, but they ultimately spread same message, that is, only faith in christ could save any, whether a jew or a gentile(though Peter was missing it at some point, and who told you Peter cant miss it)..........the only set of people that would have problems with Paul's teachings would be the legalistic ones, that is,people whose grand parents were the pharisees.

We can argue this all day long but this is the question, see yourself as a potter, can you ever wrong the clay?........There is no unrighteousness with God but what if God willing to show his wrath endures with long suffering(their blasphemies,hatred,unrighteousness,evil,wickedness....) the vessels prepared for the day of His wrath........indeed God has made everything for Himself, vessels unto honour reserved for His glory and vessels unto dishonour, for His wrath, that's the sovereign God,who's made everything for His pleasure. Woe unto the man who strives with His maker,or can a man say to His father, why have you given birth to me?

Actually Judas was saved by Christ but something happened......- covetousness.
Sin comes in little by little by little.
He had the thought in his heart and Satan assisted him. He did not reject the devil. He didn't have peace and pardon.
Jesus did not force him but fell by his own transgression-

Apostle who became an apostate.
Believer who became a betrayer,
Convert who became covetous,
Disciple who became devilish,
Externally righteous but extremely rottened,
Friend but a foe,
Grace but fell to grass,
Heaven candidate but became captive of hell,
Instructed but incorrigible,
Just but judged,
King's acquittance but a kissing adversary,
Leader but became lost,
Minister but loved Mammon,
Negotiator but Negligent,
Opportunistic but obstinate,
Preacher but a pervert,
Quiet fellow but with questionable character,
Reaper but became a reprobate,
Schemer but sold to Satan,
Teacher but treacherous,
Used but of no use,
Vulture and a violator,
Watchman but a wolf,
Xpelled after being exalted,
Yoked to Satan after yielding to Jesus,
Zealous for money but zero in ministry.

The question is,could judas have escaped that?.....,No!......judas' judgment was as a result of him being destined for that doom,to fulfill the scriptures, but it is just, enough because it came from God.......,but if you find that difficult to believe,Judas himself was a thief, and he himself had an evil heart to do evil. God calls people, some to Glory, others for wrath.........and can a clay say to the potter why have you made me so?......,woe unto the man who strives with his maker,or can a man say unto his father, why have you given birth to me?.......and if you have problem with all these, know for sure no man deserves God's blessings or mercy, for all exempting none have fallen short of that and therefore justifies God to do as He pleases,to have mercy on whom he chooses, not of him that runneth, neither of him that willeth. To wrap it up,God has made all things, even evil for His Glory and it is left for the man that will question His will.

Let's consider this verse:

"Brethren, If any of you do err from the truth and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinners from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall hide a multitude of sins" (James 5:20).

A Christian is not a sinner and a sinner is not a Christian. If a brother errs from the truth and he is not restored before he dies what happens to his soul? undecided
who gets converted,a believer?......,converted to what again?

"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12).

If there is no chance of losing one's salvation why the trembling and fearing while working it out until it is completed? Listen to what our Lord and Saviour said when asked about the endtimes:

"And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end shall be saved" (Matthew 24:11-13).

He/she that endures till the end shall be saved. We need God's grace for salvation, we need grace to continue being saved and we need grace to endure to the end. smiley
you were not patient enough to read the following verse after philippians 2:12.......13 says ''For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do his good will''. The question now is,can God fail at His work?

Let's hear what the Lord has to say and that's if we have his hearing.

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect" (Matthew 24:24).

If the very elect can be deceived who says we can't? Don't let any man/woman/ministry/church deceive you. Be like the Bereans and study to show yourself approved of God rightly dividing the word of truth. smiley

I couldn't have given a better response than the article/devotional posted below:
If this is still valid,Jesus wasted His time and precious blood, dying for people whose salvation still depends on them. Come to think of it,you were called a sinner before you came to this world, outside your choices or opinions or will, why do you then think your choice now matters to be saved. You see, many people don't know God for what He is but what they want Him to be,thereby making themselves gods, and God,a product of their will,God forbid. And for your info,a child of God who is of course born of God cannot sin and does not sin,so I don't know where you see this as a license to somebody who CANNOT do it.
Christianity EtcRe: The Deception Of Simple Faith In The Finished Work Of Christ. by owoleola: 8:12pm On Jul 06, 2017
An2elect2:
It's so sad that you fit the definition of a law keeping Pharisaical Christian.

Why do you want to glory before God by all means? Is it possible to work something yourself and give God the glory? Don't deceive yourself it is not possible!

In as much as the Christian has a responsibility or responsibilities, he is not to rely on his "strength or ability" (which are weaknesses anyway). It is by grace through faith that he must be preserved. This is the SPIRIT-WALKING the Bible is talking of.

Christianity is not a "play your part and God plays His" The Christian must trust in God completely to live or do anything. He cannot do anything including subjecting his body except SOLELY BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH. Any other means or addition is WALKING IN THE FLESH.

and in case you have tried letting go of your "strength" to rely on the grace of God and still have no experience of this power over sin, it means it's time to examine yourself to see if Christ is truly inside of you!!!

Because if Christ(the embodiment of grace) is inside of you, you WILL NOT CONTINUE IN SIN.

Galatians 3:1-14
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident:for, The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

1Corinthians 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Ephesians 3:7
Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
you are right, you can't work and at same time give God the Glory(unless of course you want to false humility). In fact,God tells us not to share His Glory with Him,He isn't greedy,He was not ready to share the work with us also.

same experience,2015.......,It started with a movie(secular),God Himself touched me,gave me a new heart,I miraculously dropped a terrible habit,His zeal consumed me,I remember I would have to check my calendar to be sure there was going to be service, even when I was already on my way to church because everyday appeared like Sunday, the zeal was that much then.He turned around a situation leading to my shame then, miraculously still.Ever since,I've grown in Him,enjoying His unconditional love, miracles in my life. A child of God who is born of God cannot sin, justification and condemnation make both sin and righteousness ungradable,if you don't believe in Jesus, you cannot commit a worse sin and if you believe in Him,you cannot be purer. However if by sin,you mean the acts of sin, then there is chastisement for offences(sin) from God,mostly according to the gravity(though even in this,He is merciful) and also different rewards for righteous acts.
