I would still choose a citizenship. There's nothing like once in a lifetime opportunity. I see a lot of amazing opportunities strictly for citizens of developed nations. With her permanent residency she has work rights in the country she got it. She should get another job and work towards having a citizenship plus a stronger passport will grant her access to more of these opportunities as she needs not process a visa for a lot of places she would be travelling to.

Hmmmm, interesting point. What if she goes there, work for 3-4 years then return to the country before PR expiration to get citizenship by staying there for some years?

Just thought about that option now. What do you think?

Citizenship. Such jobs are always available. Mercy Ships and Sea Shepherd, alongside thousands of NGOS are always recruiting and they work globally. Her permanent residency can be revoked if she's out of the country she got it for a long time and that's a big problem as she might need to come back to Nigeria if she's Nigerian.

She’s Nigerian. Not to counter your points, but the job is not NGO stuffs, pure finance role with a global development finance institution (tax free) with opportunity to work in Latin America, Asia, Europe and Middle East.

Not sure she can get anything like that easily in the nearest future because of age, amassing other experience that may not be relevant to her for such jobs.

But you are right, she might be back in Nigeria if she eventually leaves the firm or better still get another job in Europe with possibility of getting a permanent stay.

Very tricky stuff, if I may say.

Hmmmm, you mean citizenship better than the job?

Hi People,

A friend needs my advice. Currently a Permanent Resident in a developed country, think Germany/US/Canada/Australia/New Zealand. Just got a very good gig with an international institution (USAID/UN/WB/IMF/CDC/WTO). Role will give her mobility and take her around the world, but a bit worried that she won’t have the chance to become a citizen in current place of residence. But then, such job opportunities come once in a lifetime.

What advise do you have for her?

It’s a true dilemma, not made up.

Okay, now I understand. Your'e in the best position to know what's best for you. However, it is not advisable to select unaccompaning for your spouse when she will already be with you in Canada by the time your EE application is being considered.
You should instead continue your study plan and stay in the pool with 445. Who says scores won't drop below that? In a worst case scenario, you'll still get up to 60 points or so for adaptability and study in Canada at the completion of your study. Study in Canada would also qualify you for some provincial nominations giving you comfortable scores.

Thanks. No choice than to wait then.

Hi, since you both have study and work permit, why not land in Canada get a job to boost your points, whoever has the study permit should study, in all it helps boost your score when you have the appropriate years. My seniors will contribute to this.

Thanks. We just want to see if we or one of us can get PR as soon as possible. Not too sure what changes will be made to the process post election taking place in November.

Why don't you use the appointment letter you used in securing a work visa to claim 50 points and boost your joint CRS score from 449 to 499? That way, there will be no need for the unaccompaning drama. Or maybe we don't get the full story?

It's an open work permit. My wife got it because I have a study permit. She needs to go find a job when we get to Canada.

Guys, I need your help. I and my wife have study and work visas respectively. We will be landing in Canada by August. We are in the pool with 445 points, if spouse is unaccompanying, point is 467 which is sufficient to get ITA tomorrow or anytime it comes. Of course, I can always sponsor my wife and boy later. Question is, what would anyone in here suggest we do?

Don't forget that we have temporary visas already, could be dangerous having my wife unaccompanying, since she already has a work permit.

Help my life, been on this Canada parole since last year.

You are far far better including your boy from the get go. You will only complicate issues for yourself if you fail to disclose this and try to include him later.

Whether you add him now, later or wish to do unaccompabying child, It's the same proof of fund and medical you will end up doing with him.

Understood. Thank you very much.

Of course you have to disclose your child. Hiding him will be a huge misrepresentation and will give you problems later when you try to include him. Declare him from the beginning before entering the pool.

Alright, so I can go ahead and declare him now, then include madam later (at any stage of the EE process).

Meanwhile, wrt points reduction, at what stage can I add her, such that I won't need to recalculate points?

Thank you.

Happy easter people, you are doing a very good job in here. God bless everyone.

Please eh, I have an interesting and a peculiar case.I have a very young boy with someone I am planning to get married to very soon. I am in this Canada EE race, ready to dive into the pool, I however do not want to misrepresent by saying I do not have any dependant.

My question is, do you think that all will be well if I include my boy in the application? And bring on board the mother when we eventually get married? For some reasons, we are planning to get married in July/August, meanwhile, I would like to get into the pool this month.

I appreciate your response to this. Thank you.

Trying to apply wisdom. The other batches was after they've marked the first test. So we can deduce dat they needed more hire to sample. As a matter of fact some will be dropped during the interview stage. So it does nt seem like dos dat got an interview invite are guaranteed an offer. Nope! Far frm it. If I didn't see any other post to corroborate dat info, I can't believe it. Like I said, will call a friend dat works with ey tomorrow to confirm frm the hr n will give u guys a reliable info
Look at you! Please be wise and shine your eyes, and I can confirm the info, it is TRUE, two close persons just got their invites. I am not lying.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Ernst And Young Recruiting Graduate Trainees 2013 by oxygen25: 8:53pm On Sep 02, 2013
I think it is true jare, someone just told me that two of his friends got the invite

On another note, I think everybody should forget about EY joor, they conducted close to three tests for only less than 50 available positions, please think about it, if they should invite just 10 from each batch (test), then the positions are almost filled, don't forget those that wrote before they conducted the general tests, meanwhile that is their style, check out last year test, they invited once and only few for the interview, so what are we saying? Nepotism and high cut-off mark will do justice to that, you get now......anyway, we can still hope, maybe we will get ours anytime soon, but am being realistic here. Jah bless our hustles.

I can only pity una cos of the time, energy and money wasted (with the two nice trips to U-connect),for those that have done the interview, success in all, those not attending, success in all too.
Just that we (naija grads) shouldn't be disrespected and joked with like this, it is bad! I think it is high time we dealt with these issues once and for all, but wait! Do we have any choice? Hell no, we just have to take it like that. Make JAH sha dey always bless our hustles.

PapaBrowne: Oga Jarus, Excellente. Nice.

In your next edition, consider including Entrepreneurship. Methinks that's the career path majority of Nigerian graduate would eventually take considering the limited number of corporate jobs available in comparison to the swarm of graduates exiting universities yearly.

Once again. Kudos!!
Nah! That one is common jare.
