Nothing is easier than giving opinions in hindsight, but men can stand to be counted in their country's our of need.

If Sanusi keeps quiet while the illegality going on in the Government he is part of continues then he should spare us any lectures on patriotism and Nigeria and stick to economics.

@Afam
I expect you to look at the issues chidichris raised and address them. Like is common with many commentators, you avoided them and treated irrelevance.

I have always been wondering the relationship btw ozolagbo and chris

Because a man who thinks the debate about el-rufai or ribadu's arrest should attract OBJ and call that objectivity will either be Chris himself pretending to be someone else or he must be Chris' twin brother.

And all of a sudden Ozolagbo has immediately risen to the defence of Chris in response to Afam's post.
From now onwards I will be scanning Ozolagbo's post for the 3 lletter word OBJ.

This is the same man accused of not handing over Yar'adua's letter to the National Assembly.

Well the President will not seek his Vacation from Abroad. I doubt our constitution permits that.

If he wants vacation he should come back home and request for one. I doubt that letter can be written by anyone else on his behalf.

This people want to con the Nation with a dead President. I thought we were one? Why are they scared of a fellow Nigerian assuming the mantle of leadership as stipulated in our constitution.

Oh sorry I forgot, Jonathan being from an oil state only qualifies for number 2.
Politics / Re: Bizzare! Yar`adua Will Contest For 2nd Term, Says Abba-aji by OYBMEND: 9:03pm On Dec 15, 2009
sounds to me like some group of folks are testing the waters

What looks like the plot here is for Yar'adua to see vacation and allow Jonathan become acting President in the hope that Yar'adua will return someday.

This will effectively ensure that Jonathan will be a weak and ineffective leader who will continue to take orders from Yar'adua aides like Tanimu Yakum and Abba Ajji untill 2011 when one of probably Yar'adua son-in-laws will be positioned to take over.

But the question is, is it right to decieve a whole Nation to grant a vacation letter to a man who is probably not alive or who should have resigned due to health incapacitation.
Let Nigerians not fall for this con.

The only way Yar'adua should be granted a holiday is if there is proof that he is healthy and able to return to power. The Nation must not be coned.

Jonathan on his part must demand to speak to his boss in person before accepting any foolish acting President.

Gives condition for transfer of presidential power to Jonathan

By Emmanuel Aziken, Abuja
President Umaru Yar`Adua will have no problem transferring power to Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan if his doctors determine that he is bound to a long stay in hospital, his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters Senator Mohammed Abba Aji has declared.
Abba-Aji in an interview yesterday also pooh-poohed insinuations of an imminent end of the Yar`Adua presidency predicting that the President would soon be in sound health and be in good bounce for a second term.

He, nevertheless, called for prayers for the President from all Nigerians who he said should pray for him as if they were praying for their fathers.

The presidential adviser spoke against the background of speculations in Abuja yesterday evening that a letter of transfer of authority to Vice-President Jonathan has been directed to the National Assembly.

While denying the existence of any such letter, Abba-Aji in a telephone interview said the President would have no problem writing such a letter if and when he felt the situation of his health demanded it.

“When he assesses that he will stay long, I believe he will send the letter and it depends on his discussion with his doctors. If the doctors say that he will stay long, the Yar`Adua I know will send the letter and if it is just a few more weeks I think there will be no problem,’’ he said.

Declaring that the Yar`Adua presidency would stretch out to the end of a second term in 2015, he said:

“What most people do not know is that Yar`Adua will come back. He has done it before, when he was Governor he was away for six months and the death wishers did the same thing when he was Governor and he returned and he did not only return to continue his job as Governor, but he went on to have a second term and completed the second term successfully and went on to contest the presidency of this country and won.”

“He will definitely return. Yar`Adua is a man with many lives, he will come back, he will come and complete his first term and he will re-contest. So, read my lips, he will come back a very healthy person and he will carry on with his work, complete his tenure and he will contest for a second term.”

Asked when the President would be coming back, he said:

“He will take his time. I agree that he will not come back until his doctors consider it safe for him to do so, but once he comes back, he will come back in full force. He will bounce back and I have no doubt in my mind that he will come back.”

“Just because of his position some people are not even prepared to consider him becoming a human being. How many Nigerians have been on admission and returned to their jobs is it because they are not President?

He never said that he is a superman, Yar`Adua is an ordinary human being. He has been ill before and just as he did before, he will recover.”
Politics / Re: What Have You Done For Our Sick President ? by OYBMEND: 9:51am On Dec 15, 2009
The most insensitive post I have ever seen on Nairaland.

Does any of that ranting change the fact that he is your elected president?
Mike stop ranting up and down here about health care system
because you have not answered the question i asked you .
Which African Country has that superb health care system?
Since Ghaddafi and Mbeki goes abroad for health check , why wouldnt Our president ?
United states of America and still debating about health care system up till today.
And they are supposed to be numero uno in development.
You seem to be concentrating on Nigeria leadership that you failed to do anything for yourself.

What about WHAT YOU HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE NATION ?
I remember i used to join my kinsmen to do the local roads,
we dont wait for President to do it for us .
How many times have you participated on such projects ?
You watch CNN and MTV and fantasize on your bed on how Nigeria should have been America.

My question again mr ?
Where is that super schools and hospitals in Africa,,
If you dont know which countries are in Africa

I will tell you some of them,

You have Togo and Benin Republic Near You. Cameroun and Niger Rep too,

Then there is ghana , civ, senegal , liberia, sierra leone. gabon, eritrea, zambia, mighty zimbabwe, uganda, rwanda, sudan, kenya and co,
Those are your neigbours,

A close look will tell you that we are even better off.
such things dont come easy. Nigeria is a big nation. The biggest in Africa.
The revenue you generate from your oil is not enough to serve such a massive population.

all in all,  my question again is
What have you done for your sick president ?
even if he has done nothing for you

Politics / Re: North At Last Dumps Yar’adua by OYBMEND: 11:33am On Dec 14, 2009
If Yar'adua becomes incapacitated

Goodluck Jonathan should not strike any deal with any pressure group or traditional chief or Sultan or Imam because his ascendancy to the Presidency in the above situation is non-negotiable. However when he is in power he can now go into talks on how and when to return power to the North.

But discussing that as a condition for the man who could be President before he assumes his constitutional duty is an insult to Jonathan, decency and ultimately its an insult to us all as Nigerians.

na only Yoruba states go vote Fashola to become President?

Other parts of the country go reject any form of selfishness. Because if North Central and North-East endorse another Yoruba President the next time power come South, they are by implication endorsing another North West candidate if Power move back North. Remember NorthWest also has the upper hand in the North. So other regions like North-East, North-Central, South-South, South-East have a reason to form a united front.

I agree with you that the federal character idea should be scrapped completely.

On the agreement in question, ALL major political parties signed on to it. They will all produce a candidate from the North in 2011, and one from the South in 2015. That's the current agreement.

Fashola will be President in 2040.

That will be the next Yoruba turn

If Yar'adua is as honest to the Nigerian people as the British leaders are to their people I will be worshiping him every sunday.

You people only draw comparisons where it suits you. No British leader will travel abroad for healthcare. They wont even use a private services within their country, public servants usually use the NHS like everyone else.

So I hope Yar'adua dies if he refuses to resign.

the message here is that a dead Hausa man is better than a full blooded Ijaw man. Thats Nigeria's unity and stability for you. Our unity is built on injustice.

Yar'adua will run Nigeria for the next two years in comma.

The attempt to spin this as a case of PDP vs Opposition is very ludicrous and wont work. Jonathan Goodluck is neither in AC nor ANPP. Goodluck is also a PDP man and all that prominent Nigerians called for is for a nation of 150million people to be led by the more fitter VP.

I think this shows how childish the Yar'adua Government has become since they want to rather engage in partisan politics than put the country first.

Politics / How Mega Party Can Dislodge Yar'adua And Pdp by OYBMEND: 3:45pm On Nov 22, 2009
Policies, records and achievements apart

One thing that has made the PDP a national party and helped it attempt to keep most regional loyalists happy is its promise of rotational presidency to different geopolitical zones.
Because lets face it we are still a very devided country with little trust for others.

Hence the way the Mega Party or any political party for that matter can ecclipse this advantage the PDP has is to simply have a written documented agreement that a North West candidate will be chosen in 2011 to complete the turn of the Northwest after 4years by 2015 power is guaranteed to move down South.

Because at the rate we are going Yar'adua may easily win the 2011 election by playing on this as his trumpcard. If the so called Mega-Party select any other Northern candidate PDP will deploy their political associates in the South to remind Southerners that any other Northen candidate but Yar'adua will mean 12years of power for the North. I know there are those who will try to dismiss this as old way of thinking but this argument will resonate with Nigerians and it will surely resonate with Southerners.

If the Mega-Party on the other hand select a Southern Candidate, Yar'adua surrogates of the North will simply remind Northerners that they are entitled for 8years of power after Obasanjo. This again will resonate with the North and Yar'adua will coast home with victory either way by majority support from one-half of the country and sharing the votes from the other half.

Hence the Mega-Party or any other paties hoping to wrest power from the PDP must be strategic and pre-empt this unique advantage that may return Yar'adua to power on a platter of gold. The solution is to legitimise and legalise the PDP rotational policy in other parties so that the next election in 2011 can be won a records, achievements, and policies.

Now some will say 2011 Nigeria should be able to elect people on merit without the need for a rotational policy but the fact remains that their are credible Presidential candidates from all geo-political zones and those who will want to subscribe to our cynical side will win the argument if they can provide statistics to show some are being favoured over others. In our question to build a one strong indivisible, just and egalitarian society we need to recorgnise our unique challenges and take unique actions to address them.

May be Mr Sanusi will like to tell us if the Abba Abacha mentioned below is a son of one of his so called colonial masters. NIGERIANS LOVE PLATITUDES.

Nigeria ex-leader Sani Abacha's son 'must pay $350m'

General Sani Abacha may have stolen more than $2bn when in office
A Swiss court has ordered the seizure of $350m (£212m) in assets from the son of Nigeria's former military ruler, General Sani Abacha.

Abba Abacha was convicted of being a member of a criminal organisation and given a suspended custodial sentence.

Switzerland began investigating the Abacha family in 1999 and has so far handed back about $700m to Nigeria.

Nigerian state lawyers believe Sani Abacha, who ruled from 1993 until his death in 1998, may have stolen $2.2bn.

The Swiss authorities pursued Abba Abacha for six years before extraditing him from Germany in 2005.

"The examining magistrate sentenced him to a suspended jail term, and ordered the confiscation of his assets of $350m," Geneva canton's justice office said in a statement.

"[The money] is held by his criminal organisation and seized through international assistance in Luxembourg and the Bahamas."

Correspondents say Abba Abacha can appeal against the judgement

you just admitted that you live in Germany and that means you are not a resident of anambra.
You also talked about your friends from Anambra and named the places they come from in Anambra. Only a non indigene could make a comment like that.

To even turn around to suggest you are either a resident or an indigene having made your previous comments shows a willingness to tell bare faced lies.

We need to tackle our personal corruption so that we can be rightly equiped to rid our nation of corruption.
