Episode 9
I get up from my bed and get ready for school.
I need to see Ava.
I need help.
If I don't, I will lose my mind.
I didn't even wait for alarm to ring.
I dress up and go downstairs.
"You woke up early this morning" my mum says with a smile.
"Yes" I head for the door.
"Kevin, no breakfast this morning?"
"No Dad. I'm not hungry"
"What's up with you? Tell me, I can help".
I look at him for few seconds and shake my head.
"No you can't. Bye Dad"
"Kevin..."
My answer is the slam of the door.
I call my driver and we drive straight to school.
I see one of my friends Michael, he waves at me but I didn't answer him.
He's always early to school.
I run off to one of the classes Ava and I get lectures together
Of course she's not around.
I got to school early.
I bring out my phone and turn on my data connection hoping she's online.
She is.
"I NEED YOUR HELP" I text her
"Are you okay?" She replies a minute later.
"No I'm not okay"
"I should be in school in about 20 minutes"
"Okay, I'll be waiting for you".
" See you soon".
I wait for her anxiously.
About 20 minutes later I receive a call from her.
"Where are you?"
"I'm at the bench under the shade beside the school car park".
"Okay I will meet you soon"
She hangs up.
She arrives 5 minutes later and we sit.
"Kevin are you okay?"
"Ava I think I've lost my glory". I said immediately.
"What?"
I bite my finger as I remember those times with Ashley.
I didn't realize I was crying already.
"Kevin you are scaring me. What do you mean by you've lost your glory?"
"Didn't you hear the Pastor last night? He said once you fornicate you are in a covenant with the person and just like Samson he lost his power, he lost his glory and I've done such a thing before, many times even, my life is a mess.. I'm in trouble... Ava I've done many things, things that I regret, I've destroyed many girls' lives, I thought I was enjoying myself.. I took advantage of my parent's money, my looks, my intelligence.. I thought I am going down the right path.. I did not know I'm just an empty barrel... I....I.....I..." I start sobbing uncontrollably.
"Kevin look at me" Ava says
I look up and also see tears in her eyes.
"For all have sinned and cut short the glory of God. Everyone has a past but we have a better future in Christ." Ava says
"You think I have a better future? With all the life I've lived, I have a future?"
"Yes you do Kevin...you do, all you need to do is to surrender your life to Jesus and He will take care of the rest."
"How do I go about that?"
"Confess, renounce and repent from your sins, then believe and accept Jesus as your Lord"
"That's all?"
"Yes"
I did just that in between tears, Ava held my hands all through.
After what feels like forever I stop praying and I feel a peace in my heart.
Ava gave me her handkerchief to wipe my nose.
I blow my nose real hard and I look at Ava and we both start laughing.
I reach out and wipe her face.
"Why were you crying?" I ask
"I'm just happy. I'm really happy right now."
"Me too".
"We still need to work on our project you know" I say with a smile.
"We are just left with the PowerPoint design and a little rehearsal".
" Yeah" I say.
"I guess class is over" Ava says.
"Sorry I didn't make you go".
"It's okay... This is better than any class. This is the best day of my life."
"Mine too".
"I guess I will see in church on Sunday." Ava smiles.
"Sure. Let's go, I will drop you off".
"Okay"
We head to the parking lot holding hands.

Leigh, I have never been one to comment on stories I read here (wonder why).

Anyway, I have been reading and following all your stories.

Yesterday, I read your last update, just before bed. Your narrative on the child's decapitation was so very vivid. I did not think much of it, said my prayers and went to bed.

For the first time in forever, I had a nightmare. I relieved all of that poor baby's suffering. Funny enough, I kept telling myself to wake up, that it was a dream.

When my husband eventually woke me up, as I was thrashing about so much, I quickly rushed to check up on my kids.

The essence of my essay, is to say, well done. Thank you for being an awesome writer and making my day.
