The Bodyguard - Episode 8

By Tisa Phiri

I walked to his vehicle as Mr Benson opened the door.

"hey Ackim!" He shouted..

"you okay?"

"Am fine Sir.." I responded

" and your daughter too"

"Good," Mr Benson answered..

"so what do we have here ?" he asked as I lead him to the storage room where I had tied the shooter.

"I managed to catch him Sir but I was waiting for you for the next step" I told him standing in front of the now wide awake guy, his dark scared face held high. I felt the urge to knock the pride out of his funny face but I had to play cool in front of my new boss.

Mr Benson bent down and asked the man almost in a whisper..

"who sent you? Tell me now who sent you to kill my daughter or else I will be forced to get you killed."

The stupid guy let a laugh and shook his head...

"you are wasting your time" he said rising his eyes at Mr Benson.

I saw his face frown. he was upset. He raised his fist and hit him in his face and to his surprise the thug started laughing historically.

"is that all you have got!" He shouted amid his laughter.

I knew I had to come in at that point..I too let a laugh in my head, though I didn't dare show it. Mr Benson's blow couldn't even make a small boy spit a piece of meat from his mouth.

I then went forward and hit the guy , my blow broke his nose instantly and he started bleeding. Before he could take in the first blow, I gave him two more and his face was a mess.

"Now" I sighed calmly..

" I am certain we understand each other." I paused and walked around him trying to defeat him psychologically.

I knew a person like him was only good for jobs like shooting and hitting people. He had nothing close to a spirit of endurance. Just that moment I saw his fear emerge. I could bet he didn't anticipate that action from me.

I continued in my silence and I could see Mr Benson wondering what I was doing. Then I pulled a small tin from the empty tins in the corner, placed it in from of him as he's head bow down blood oozing from his mouth and nose.

I sat on it looking at him

" now" I sighed rubbing my fist.

"are you ready to start talking?"

He raised his head to say something and then spat.

" you won't get a thing from me man."

Oh I see," I told nodded, still calm.

I almost stood up to give him another blow but before it could reach him he screamed..

"ok ok! Stop I will tell you everything I know.."

I could see Mr Benson pay much attentuon now

" listening" I responded..

The guy explained he was hired by some guy to shoot Paula.

"this guy just gave me the photo of the lady and I have been looking around for her since yesterday, that's all i know.." he winced.

"Give me his name!" I shouted back.

"I don't know I swear!" he pleaded.

" we don't ask for names all you do is pull out the job man and get my money, thats it.."

"Well, how clever.." I chuckled and gave him a second round of beating until he finally explained the place he was hired from and he gave me the description of the guy who hired him.

Satisfied, I nodded to Mr Benson who was watching in silence.

"I think I have seen the guy he just described" I told him when we stood outside.

" how? Where?" Mr Benson asked surprised..

"Yes sir. He is one of the guys who had held Paula in the forest. I knocked him down, am sure they know she's alive and they are trying to finish what they started." I added as Mr Benson listened attentively.

"Good Job soldier.. " he commended.

" I will get some guys to check out the place he just told you."

"Of course Sir" I told him..

"if you may, let me lead the group." Mr Benson smiled..

"does it mean you are staying?"

" I am sir" I smiled back.

" I will take your offer, though I only have one request."

"What's that Ackim? " He asked me.

"Well I think you should help me find my family in Ndola. am sure you have a lot of connections. I need to know about there whereabouts so I can easily go back home when am done here."

"Sure thing soldier" he assured me..

"right away I will hire someone to investigate."

" Thank you" i shook his hand.

"I will take care of him" I added pointing inside.

"probably hand him to police later."

" yeah.." he answered as he walked away

" Keep me updated. Whatever you need just make a call" " he said walking away.

I pressed the guy some more to make sure he didn't hide anything else. I told one of Mr Benson's men to call the police and hand over the shooter after the mission was complete.

I walked inside the lodge and found Paula hugging her father

"good bye" dad she told him.

" I will see you later" he responded as he nodded his head at me.

Paula told me she had to go to her room.

" I need to get rid of these clothes.. " she scoffed.

"sure" i nodded looking at her skin jeans which were dirty from the point she lay down at the shoot out in town.

I walked to my room too. Opening it, I found Shila cleaning my room whilst she hummed to a song.

"Hey! " I called out. Instead of the dirty look she gave me the day we arrived, she that moment wore a wide smile.

"hey stranger !" she shouted back cheerfully.

"looking hot!"

I looked at her and smiled back.

"wow..I thought I disgusted you the first time we meet. I didnt know you were friendly" I teased as i put my hands in my poackets .

"Sorry about that" she said raising her hand.

"just that you looked um....... you know" she shrugged patting the bed to finish placing the sheets.

"It's okay" I told her still standing next to the door. I had not closed it.

"Am Shila" she introduced herself extending her hand to greet me.

"I know." I smiled grabing her hand and shaking it

"am Ackim" I added.

" it's a pleasure to meet you again."

"Yeah sure, same here hot guy." She winked, before walking past me close enough to rub her shoulder on mine..

"call me if you need anything " she whispered

"Oh women!" I muttered to myself.

"She is not bad"

Instead of going shopping that afternoon Paula Told me she made an online order of clothes from Lusaka and that they would be delivered the following day.

"you just had to?" I asked her as a sat in her office. I was waiting for the guys Mr Benson told me would join me to check the place the shooter guy had told us.

"Yes I had to. You need clothings, at least dad Will bring me something from home." She shrugged

" mmmn great then" I said standing as my phone beeped.I received a text with details of the place we would meet the other guys. I was to be driven by the guy who drove us earlier since i wasnt so familiar with the places around Solwezi.

"Stay inside." I told Paula before walking out

".from now on you dont leave my Sight without my permission" I added.

She raised her Hand and saluted teasingly.

" yes Sir! " I laughed and left the room with long steps. It was action time and that reminded me of the army and General Loko's camp only that, this time i was doing it for a good cause, thats what I thought anyway.

"Lets go" I motioned to the driver as i got in front of the car.

"step on it man!" I ordered

"we are Running out of time..."

Blood Lives Here - Episode 5

© Brian Ngoma

Zamiwe walked into the living room throwing her hand bag on the floor and herself on the couch. She put her legs on the table as she exhaled heavily.

"What a day!" She sighed. "Ludo!" She called.

She was very tired that she dosed off within minutes of sitting down.

"Anybody home?" Joe asked as he entered the living room.

He was equally tired from his trip. He saw Zamiwe sleeping on the couch and memories flashed back. He remembered how good they were together before Ludo's sickness kicked in. They were a small happy family. He walked to her and sat beside her. He looked at her and smiled. Her face was covered with the hair. He moved the hair to the side. He was looking at her face clearly. She was still as beautiful as ever. If only she could have been this beautiful even when she was awake, perhaps they could have been happy but behind this sleepy innocent face was a nagger.

She felt him touch her and woke up. She looked at him and smiled.

"You are home?" She asked.

"Yes Zamiwe," he answered. "I'm hungry," he touched his belly.

"I just got here too. Let's go and eat, I saw something on the dining table," she stood up..

As she was walking to the dining room, he stopped her and held her from behind.

"Joe!" She complained.

"What?" He held her tightly. "I miss you Zamiwe."

"Really?" She held his hands.

"So much. I don't know where we went wrong."

"Ludo's condition happened," she said.

"We were supposed to grow closer."

"All we do is argue about the best treatment for her."

"But we can make it better. Ludo has grown. She knows when we argue and fight," Joe let go of her and turned her to face him.

"Do you think we can make it better?" She asked looking at him teary."

"I know we can," he answered assured of himself. "Don't cry on me, you'll spoil my boner," he wickedly smiled.

"Let me see," she reached for his bulge.

"Are we going to eat or?" He looked at her.

She wrapped her hands around his neck. He pulled her closer while his hands held her waist tightly.

"I still love you Joe," she told him.

"I do too," he kissed her.

He led her to the bedroom.

"Ludo!" She called.

"Leave her, I guess she's sleeping. Let's enjoy our time," he said.

"Our time," she giggled closing the door behind her.

An alarm woke them up at 5am.

"I'm not going anywhere today," Joe whined.

"Neither am I. I just forgot to switch it off," Zamiwe said yawning. "I'm pressed though."

"Go and relieve yourself before you pee on the bed," Joe covered himself with the sheets.

Zamiwe got out of bed and went to the restroom. She got done and was on her way back to the bedroom when she noticed Ludo's bedroom door opened and her bed made. It was five in the morning. Where could Ludo be going? She asked herself.

"Ludo sweetie!" She called walking to the room. "Where are you going this morning? Do you have an appointment with Mr. Visashi?"

She got into the room and there was no sign of Ludo. Fear creeped in. She went to the kitchen and all the other rooms but Ludo was nowhere to be found.

"Joe!" She yelled.

Joe quickly got off the bed and ran to Ludo's room where Zamiwe was at.

"What is it?" He asked concerned.

She pointed to the bed.

"What?" He asked confused.

"I think Ludo didn't spend the night here," she answered scared.

"What do you mean she didn't spend the night here?" Joe walked around the room checking the closets. "Isn't she in the bathroom?"

"I'm from there," Zamiwe bit her nails.

Joe went back to the bedroom and got his phone. He called Ludo's number but it was off. He went back to Ludo's bedroom.

"Her phone is off," he looked at Zamiwe. "Are you sure you checked all the rooms. The study?"

Zamiwe nodded.

Joe tried to call again when Zamiwe showed him Ludo's phone. Despair filled Joe and he went into a rage.

"This is the thing I talk about. You are careless Zamiwe. I found you home and our daughter was not here and you didn't bother to check on her. What kind of mother are you?"

"Don't you dare question my parenthood Joe. If it wasn't for your libido, I could have checked on her," she said angrily.

"You were supposed to check on her!" He yelled.

Zamiwe sat on Ludo's bed thinking about where Ludo could have gone to. Joe left the bedroom and went to check outside.

"Ludo!" He called.

Zamiwe followed him. She watched him walk around calling their daughter's name.

"Does she have friends?" He asked her.

"None I know of," Zamiwe answered. "I doubt if she could go anywhere without her phone."

The sun came out and they were still outside.

"Let's call the police," Zamiwe suggested.

"Not yet. We don't know if she's missing. For all we know, she might have gone for a run," Joe said. "Let's wait a little longer."

Nancy came and found the two outside. They looked worried but Nancy never liked to meddle in other people’s businesses especially her boss's. She greeted them and walked past them.

"Nancy!" Joe called her.

"Sir," she answered turning around.

"Did you leave Ludo here?"

"Yes sir."

"What time did you knock off?" Zamiwe asked.

"The usual time madam. 17 hours. Is everything ok?" She asked.

"Yes Nancy you can go in and start your work."

Nancy was astounded with how her bosses asked her the questions. She got in and went to the kitchen. She found the plates and warmers the way she had left them in the dining room. She was hit that something was wrong. She knew Ludo would have at least eaten something. As a matter of fact, Ludo promised Nancy that she would eat. Nancy was used to Zamiwe and Joe not eating most times but Ludo, would eat something. She ran back outside.

"Where is Ludo?" She asked her eyes wide open.

Zamiwe and Joe looked at her surprised.

"I know Ludo is not here," she said.

"Maybe she's gone for a run," Joe said.

"Ludo doesn't run."

"We know," Joe and Zamiwe said at the same time.

The three waited for nothing until 9am. Zamiwe decided to call Mrs. Visashi to ask because she was the only closest person to Ludo apart from them.

"I don't have Kate's number," she groaned.

"I think I do," Joe reached for his phone.

"Why do you have her number?" Zamiwe asked.

"She was my daughter’s teacher. Why shouldn't I?" He shrugged.

She clicked her tongue.

He gave her the number. She called Kate.

"Hello Kate," she said.

"Hi Zamiwe," Kate answered.

"Sorry to bother you this early but is there a chance that Ludo is at your house?"

"Ludo?"

"Yes."

"No. What is it?"

"She's not here. We didn't find her when we woke up."

"Don't tell me. Have you called any of her friends?"

"She doesn't have any friends. That's the reason I called you."

"Call the police."

"My husband says we can't fill in a missing person report because it’s only been hours."

"That's true."

"How about her phone?"

"It’s here with me."

"That's strange."

"Thanks Kate."

"If anything, let me know," Kate said cutting the call.

She looked at Kent whose jaws were almost dropping. He touched his head and got out of the bed.

"It’s them!" He said worriedly.

"We don't know that Kent," Kate said getting up.

"Where could she have gone then?" He asked. "One minute, I meet up with Brains and she goes missing."

"Nobody knows that she's missing."

"You seem to be calm," Kent looked at Kate.

"I don't want to panic. I don't want to think about what could have happened to poor Ludo. I'm keeping my mind positive. I know she's safe wherever she is."

"I hope so Kate," Kent said thoughtful. "The man I met yesterday seems dangerous. From what i heard, the manuscript is pretty nasty."

"Let's wait. I'm sure Zamiwe will call me when she comes home. Stop thinking about the manuscript, it doesn't matter at the moment."

"Maybe she has a boyfriend," Kent said doubting.

"I doubt," Kate said.

Zamiwe, Joe and Nancy kept looking at the gate waiting for it to be opened by Ludo. They had sat on the veranda for three straight hours waiting for nothing. It was now lunch and Nancy went in to prepare something for them. She kept praying that Ludo was safe. She finished preparing and went outside to call them.

"I cannot eat anything until my daughter comes back," Zamiwe refused.

Nancy looked at Joe.

Joe nodded.

Nancy was hungry but she knew eating would seem like she didn't care. She joined the two and sat down.

The gate opened and they all stood up. It was Kate. After talking with her husband, they decided that Kate should visit Ludo's house. They agreed not to mention anything concerning Ludo's book being Non Fiction. They didn't want to worry Ludo's parents because they didn't know what was really happening and jumping into conclusions would put all of them in danger.

"Tell me she's back," Kate said walking to the three.

Zamiwe nodded her head.

Joe reached for his phone.

"I'm calling the police," he looked at his watch. "It’s almost 4pm. This is not so Ludo."

They ladies looked at him in agreement.

Joe called the police and explained everything to them. He was told to go to the station and file in a missing person report.

"We should get inside," Joe told the women.

They all got up and went inside. Zamiwe was quiet looking at her phone. The way she knew her daughter, she could have at least called her and tell her she was safe. Joe went to take a bath in readiness of his visit to the station. Nancy made herself busy in the kitchen. Kate sat with Zamiwe in silence.

"I'm done," Joe said. "I will call you when I get to the station."

Joe walked to the door and as he was about to open it, Ludo opened it from the outside and bumped into her father.

"Ludo!" Joe exclaimed hugging her.

Zamiwe got up and ran to them and joined in the hug.

"Where have you been?" Joe asked.

"I'm fine," Ludo answered yawning.

"Don't tell us you're fine where have you been?"

"It’s a long story," she got out of the embrace and walked to the couch.

"Hi Mrs. V," she smiled at her.

"Hey Ludo," Kate said surprised.

Ludo sat in the chair whilst everyone including Nancy looked at her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ludo asked.

"Do you know that I was about to go to the police station?" Joe asked.

"I figured," she answered getting a remote.

"Ludo sweetie, where have you been?" Zamiwe asked.

"It’s a long story. My friend will tell you," Ludo answered.

"Which friend?" Joe asked.

"Me!"

Joe and the women turned around and found a young woman standing behind them.

"Melanie?" Mrs. Visashi shouted.

"Hi Mrs. V," Melanie waved at Kate.

"Who are you?" Zamiwe asked. "Who is she?" She looked at Kate.

Kate was surprised. From what she knew, Melanie was Ludo's biggest bully back in high school and now she was standing in Ludo's house saying she was her friend.

"She used to be my pupil two years ago," Kate answered.

"Isn't that the same time Ludo was your pupil?" Joe asked.

"Yes," Kate answered looking at Melanie suspiciously. "They were both in my class."

Melanie passed them and sat next to Ludo.

"How are you Melanie?" Zamiwe asked.

"I'm fine thank you," Melanie answered.

"Tell us the long story. Where were you and our daughter?"

"At my house, “Melanie responded.

"Your house?"

"My parents’ house," she touched her head. "I can give you their number you call them."

"No need for that," Joe cut in. "Didn't it occur to you that you were supposed to call us and let us know where our daughter was?"

"And I'm sure you know about her condition," Zamiwe eyed Melanie.

"I had no credit sorry," Melanie answered carelessly.

Zamiwe and Joe looked at each other.

"I'm fine that's all that matters," Ludo added.

"Why did you leave your phone?" Zamiwe asked Ludo.

Ludo couldn't find the words.

"It was my fault forgive me," Melanie cut in. "The time I met Ludo, I didn't give her a chance to get her phone. I was excited and wanted us to catch up. That's why she left her phone."

Ludo faced down.

"You didn't tell us about Melanie," Joe said.

"Well here she is."

"And get used to me. You'll be seeing me around often," Melanie smiled.

Mrs. Visashi sensed something strange. She looked at how Ludo was trying to keep calm. She knew something was wrong. The way Melanie was always answering questions on behalf of Ludo was also suspicious. She just couldn't put the pieces together.

"It’s getting late, I better be going," Melanie stood up.

"I'll go with you," Kate also stood up.

"No I'm fine. I came with my car," Melanie said.

"You have a car?"

"My parent’s car," she chuckled.

"Alright then let's go," Kate led the way.

As they got outside, Kate wanted to confront Melanie about her suspicions but she didn't know anything about her. It had been two years since she last saw her.

"You look good Mrs. V," Melanie complimented Kate.

"You too Melanie," Kate said. "What have you been up to?"

"Nothing much. Just busy running my parent’s business."

"What kind of business?"

"They own boutiques Mrs. V."

"Just boutiques?"

"Yes Mrs. V. I'm parked there. See you Mrs. V. It was nice seeing you," Melanie left Kate looking at her as she walked to the car.

Zamiwe and Joe stared at Ludo sited in the couch. They were glad their daughter was back but couldn't figure out why she acted the way she did. She knew they were concerned about her and her condition but she didn't seem to care how they felt.

"I'm going to bed," Ludo said avoiding their stare.

"You have to eat something Ludo," Zamiwe told her.

"Don't worry I have eaten," she got up and headed to her bedroom.

She sat on her bed and looked around. Her breathing suddenly changed. It was like whatever she had kept inside was finally finding itself out. Before she realised, tears were streaming down her cheeks. She held in her voice not to cry but the more she tried the harder it became. She threw herself on the bed and bit her pillow and grabbed the sheets and screamed.

"Ludo!" Zamiwe called her standing at the door. "I brought your phone. Are you crying?"

Ludo got up and grabbed the phone from her mother’s hand and closed the door behind her. She laid on the bed and cried herself.

"Ludo is everything fine sweetie?" Zamiwe knocked on the door.

"Go away mom, I want to sleep," Ludo sobbed.

"Talk to me, what happened?"

"Nothing mom, I'm fine. I want to sleep. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Please go away."

Zamiwe felt powerless as she left Ludo's bedroom door. Ludo knew her mother had left the door. She continued crying.

"I'm sorry mom," she tightly held on to her pillow.

The Bodyguard - Episode 7

By Tisa Phiri

Ackim..

I looked around as we reached the Boutique in town, my instincts strongly warned me someone was following us. I was not so much for the idea of going into town with her but I couldn't get the idea out of her mind. she was determined to buy new clothes for both of us. "you cannot go to Ndola with only two pairs of trousers" she insisted.

Earlier her father had called me aside..

" please Ackim look out for my daughter am really worried but I can't show it to her. I don't want to stress her more than she already is " Mr Benson pleaded..

"I only wish you had taken the offer to work for me, it's pointless for you to go back in the army after many years. I would offer you a salary more than what the government would, besides you can go and see your parents and family after working here for a while" he added.

" after all you have already been away for some time."

I looked at his emmerging grey hair and a small moustache, the man was in his middle 50s. He seemed to be a good person though tough at the same time. I understood why he was interested in politics his manner of speech explained the characteristics of a politician and business man.

I would confess he convinced me. I thought through what he had said though I didn't want to give him my answers there and then. I decided to make him wait a bit. so I told him I would get back to him after thinking about his offer.

"I could use a job" I thought to myself. I really nothing to My name and I was almost certain my parents got the little benefits from the army the time we disappeared.

Mr Benson cautioned over letting Paula out of my sight during the time i was to give him my final response.

So here we were, as she told me her stories about her mother. I spotted a guy behind a black car packet on our left. Quickly before he could fire the gun, I doged down pushing Paula down as I shouted for her to get down.

I rushed her to the car park and locked the doors as I ran after the shooter my gun pointed out.

I ran after him as he went behind the shops the distance between us reduced as I ran forward. I admit he was a fast but I had some persistence. I saw his speed reduce as he headed to a corner joining the main road, quickly I placed my gun behind in my jeans when I noticed it was attracting a lot of attention. People stood by the road sides and watched us.

I stoped for a second and watched him, then I took the short cut when I noticed there was only one way ahead for him.

With a bang I hit him in his face with the back of my hand sending him to the ground instantly as he was caught unaware. Before he could stand and fight back.I gave him 4 more hard knocks and he fell down unconcious that's the goodness of my training, when you have to beat someone using some skill would help you knock off a person without taking hours of hitting them. You just have to know the right places to hit and a person goes dark instantly.

I grabbed the small phone Mr Benson had given me to call him in case of emmergence and called him.

" I got the shooter Sir!"

I reported.

"Am heading to the road now am certain Paula has called you already."

"Yeah, she has" he's shaky voice answered

" I sent guys over where she is and am on my way too."

"Good" I sighed breathing heavily with the guy I was carrying on my shoulder taking part of my strenght.

"tell the guys to meet me by the main road side to the west of town then." I added, pushing the phone in my pockets after hanging up.

As soon as the road appeared before me. I saw the ranger I left Paula in halt in front of me. one of the guys opened the trunk and I pushed the shooter inside and tied his hands from behind with a rope I saw placed in the trunk.

Paula came out panting

" are you alright?" She asked checking me.

" am fine" I said looking at her. she sighed in relief..

"How are you?" I too asked her.. "thanks to you, you saved my life again," she said hugging me.

"sure thing, we have to go now" i smiled at her..

"yeah we do" she responded as she let go of me.

I noticed she had had this attachement to me like we knew each other for a long time but I was not for the idea of being attached to anyone especially a woman. For some reason all i felt was the need to keep her safe and alive. I saw her fear and more than ever at that moment what her father had told me made sense. she was in a lot danger than I had anticipated.

I decided that moment to work and be her body guard. The cut Paula's Father had promised was great. It was an offer I would benefit more from.

I sat in the back seat with Paula as the driver, the man who drove her after I left her alone in the parking lot at the boutique drove on keeping his speed steady.

She relaxed and held my hand as we moved back to the lodge. I looked at her and she smilled. "thank you again" she said.

"it's my job" I told her with with grinn..

"What?" She asked excited.

"your job? Do you mean you are staying? "

"Yeah Paula I am, I have decided to take your father's offer, so I guess am your bodyguard from now until this danger is over" I explained. she looked ahead but I could see she was so happy.

" wow thank heaven's" she let a smile.

". I know you will protect me Ackim " she continued without turning to look at me.

"I hope I will," I told her as the vehicle pulled in the gate of the lodge.

The guy who drove us opened the trunk and I lifted the guy to the back yard of the lodge. I asked for some kind of store room with some space and I was directed by Paula.

I dropped the shooter on the floor as he started moving coming to.

Quickly I tied him to a chair like they did to Paula, without untying his legs.

All i had to do was wait for further instructions from Mr Benson before I could take the next step, which I presumed would be an interrogation.

The car pulled up. Henry stepped forward quickly and opened the door to the passenger's side to join Cole who was alone in the vehicle.

"Boss, Daysman has an additional escort vehicle with four other men following him now." Cole said to Henry as soon as he got in.

"But Dave and Samantha are following them right?"

"Yes, from a distance."

"Did you find out what they did in the hall?" Henry asked as he placed his backpack on his laps and opened it.

"No, I tried to but it wasn't wise for me to proceed after coming across eleven armed men guarding the place."

"Eleven armed men?" Henry questioned.

"Those were the ones I saw, I can't tell of the others who I did not see." Cole replied.

"That means they're hiding something really dangerous in there," Henry suggested and then frowned as he thought about it.

"I believe it's not just something but it's someone they're hiding," Cole put in.

Henry took a quick glance at him.

"After Daysman and his men left, I tried to gain access but since I couldn't go past those men, I waited around to watch for who next would come out of the place..."

"And who did?"

Cole glanced at him and shook his head. "No one."

Henry raised his brows.

"Wait, how were you able to stay around there?"

"I got the clothes of the security man from a different section of the complex, far from our target section. Putting on the uniform made me look like a legal worker in the place."

"So, you saw no one else come out of the place?"

"No one," Cole replied and shook his head.

"Maybe you should have waited a little longer, I'm not sure anyone resides in that area of the complex."

"I waited until I was sure almost all had left that place," Cole replied him."I returned there after an hour and found only one man remaining in the same room I met the eleven men. And he wasn't even armed."

Henry raised his brows. "I don't..."

"Excuse me please," Cole interrupted him to listen to a voice in his earpiece. He listened and responded for about a minute before he turned again to Henry. "Dave just told me that the two escort cars have gone in different directions from Daysman."

Henry raised his brows. "And where are they now?"

"Daysman is at EPA Hill, in the FOX corporation headquarters," Cole quickly added.

Henry eyes widened in surprise and he quickly turned his face away thoughtfully.

"In FOX Corporation Headquarters?"

"Yes," Cole affirmed.

"Is his reason for visiting there by any means known?"

"Not yet," Cole answered.

A lot of thoughts ran through Henry's mind at that moment and he struggled in his mind to make a conclusion. He battled to come up with a reasonable reason for Daysman to be in the FOX Corporation.

____

FOX Corporation, EPA HILL

"Sorry for keeping you waiting sir," Agent Steve apologised to Daysman as he walked into the visitor's room.

"No problem officer," Daysman replied in his gruff voice.

Agent Steve settled into the seat behind the table quickly and picked out his notepad and pen. "Thank you so much for responding so quickly, I never expected you'd come so soon." Agent Steve said, still trying to settle down.

He was already on his way back to the office with Agent Evelyn when he had gotten the message that Daysman had arrived the office in response to their invitation.

"As a man who has nothing to hide, it's expected that I respond to calls like this as quick as I can. I'm always ready to help the security officials in investigation for the truth." Daysman replied him in a confident tone.

Steve took a quick glance at him, surprised by the confidence in his words, he sounded like someone who really had nothing to hide. But Steve wasn't deceived, he had met with a lot of people who had mastered the art of communication and could communicate words differently from what they feel.

Steve faked on a smile and then drew in breath.

"Sir, there have been two kidnaps in the past few days. Better put, a kidnap and something else we can't classify yet. The first ended up with the murder of the kidnap victim," Steve began. "We are not certain yet if the second was a kidnap, in fact, we aren't sure what happened but there's a link between the first and the second victims."

Daysman squinted his eyes at Steve.

"But checking through the security records, we saw a very strong link between these victims and you, that's why we've called you here to make some explanations."

"Who are these people you're talking about?" Daysman asked.

"Brad and Henson, I'm sure you must have heard about Brad's death and Henson's disappearance," Steve answered him.

"Of course, I have. The death of Brad came as a really disheartening news, he was a good man and good partner. As for Henson, I never really got to know much about him." Daysman answered briefly.

"You had an unfinished business with Brad before his death, can you tell me about this business?"

"I and Brad had so many business together, but recently we have only been talking about his firm producing packages for our farm products."

"I'm not aware that Suntan Farms is a sole asset of yours, how come you are discussing a deal with Brad for the farm without any record in the company or without the knowledge of the CEO?"

Daysman stared blankly for a moment. He realized that the man sitting before him must have done a lot of investigations and he had to be very careful in answering the questions.

"I am the managing director of Suntan Farms, I've been managing it for over ten years and it has grown under my leadership. When I see a deal to work out, I go for it and it's not the first time I'm discussing the possibility of a deal before officiating it."

"So, your business with Brad is nothing outside of Suntan Farms Deal?"

"No, I have personal growing businesses and Brad is like a mentor to me in the art of investing and making investment work."

"Five major arrests were made yesterday and we found Henson as a link for the Invisible terrorists. Now, Henson is directly connected to Brad who is directly connected to you." Steve explained. "Brad serves as the link between you and Henson and you were meant to deliver some things to Henson yesterday which you couldn't because of Brad's abduction."

"I don't get where all this is going to," Daysman replied with a confused tone.

"What were you supposed to deliver to Henson yesterday?"

"Nothing," the man frowned at Steve and raised his shoulder. "I'm not a delivery man."

Steve chuckled at his response. "I'm not in anyway calling you a delivery man, what is it that Brad had with you yesterday which you were supposed to release."

"Brad had nothing with me," Daysman replied.

"You mean you had no recent business with him?"

"No, I mean he kept nothing with me to deliver to anyone."

"Were you planning to meet with him after his arrival in Bexford?"

"No, we had no plans to meet."

"But in the past five days, you guys have made so much calls with each other that seems so unusual."

"I see nothing unusual in my calls with Brad, except you want to make an issue out of nothing."

Steve chuckled and then opened a file. He turned it towards Daysman to see.

"This documents the time of your calls with Brad, in three days, he called you six times and you called him five times, that's eleven all together, Isn't that strange?"

"I just told you we had business together and we both had to monitor the progress on both sides."

"Yes sir, you had business together and that business was to deliver ten parcels of explosives to Henson in disguise as farm products."

Daysman opened his mouth to express his shock at Steve. He slowly got to his feet, looking fierce and angry.

"This is preposterous, you mean you brought me here to make a mockery of me?"

"Please, take your seat sir." Steve said as he got to his feet. "We can discuss this maturely. We are not in this conversation alone, I believe you are aware others are with us." Steve added, referring to the other people who were watching and listening to them outside through the stream from the cameras inside the room.

"You can't make stupid and false accusations against me and expect me to keep quiet or calm."

"Please sit sir, and we'd continue our conversation. If you think I'm wrong, you can give your reasons and we'd trash out right here and now."

Daysman shook his head, still fuming in anger. He stared angrily at Steve for a moment before taking his seat.

"What the bleep about explosives are you talking about?"

"Brad was meant to give orders for the release of ten explosives to Henson yesterday but that did not happen because Brad was abducted the day before."

"I don't know anything about that, you can't just try to drag me in."

"But Brad made more contact with you than anyone else in the last forty eight hours before his abduction and murder, and in his to-do list, he had in his schedule to contact your for the release of something which he called 'ten parcels'."

"I was suppose to hand over documents to Brad, that's all I had to do with Brad yesterday. I do not know anything about the ten parcels or whatever you're saying."

Steve was silent for a moment, his arms folded across his chest as he stared Daysman in the eyes.

"We'd have to see those documents, in nothing less than two hours."

"Two hours? It's late already."

"If the documents are already prepared, all that we need to do is go and get them, I do think two hours is even too much for that."

Daysman heaved a sigh of frustration.

___

EPA, Bexford.

"If we have to go after Daysman tonight, following him immediately after he leaves EPA hill would be the best option." Samantha suggested.

"I agree," Cole joined in. "The two escorts vehicles are no longer with him, he has less security around him."

The four of them were now in the same vehicle, Cole and Henry sitting at the back while Dave and Samantha sat at the front.

"It may not be the best option, I think this is the time the security around him is tightest." Henry joined in after a few seconds of careful consideration. "We got Brad and then Henson, it is obvious to us, the FOX and even the Wolves that the next in line would be Daysman. We'd have eyes watching and hands waiting for us."

There was silence in the car for a while.

"So, we're just going to stay and watch him go from here? Or get him from his home like we did with Brad?"

"It would be difficult to get him from home if the escorts are there with him," Cole put in.

"Did you run a check on his home?" Henry asked.

'Yes, I did." Cole replied. "The networks are secured in the house and around, the facility is very small compared to Brad's and there are not so many loopholes to get in with."

"We would not need to go to his home for now," Henry said in a calm instructive tone. "We would borrow a tactic from the invisible terrorists, something they used when they started." Henry paused and looked at the faces of all his team members. "We would distract them with something different from the pattern, at the same time fulfilling our goal."

"Boss, you're speaking in parables." Dave put in after some seconds of silence by Henry.

"Paul Edward's dead son is in town, I found him at the Ruthernard Hospital and he'd be leaving the hospital very early tomorrow morning." Henry said, looking at the faces of each of them.

"His dead son?" Samantha voiced out, staring at Henry with a questioning look.

"Yeah, Paul saved his grandson from death and killed other people's children. Paul Edwards grandson was never in the explosion." Henry replied her. He then raised his brows thoughtfully. "Paul Edwards is followed around by the toughest of FOX's security, he's difficult to come in contact with, but his grandson would be transported like an ordinary man out of Bexford tomorrow."

"So, we all go to get him tomorrow?" Cole asked.

"No, just you and Dave." Henry replied him. "I and Samantha would return to the Magic Complex to find how the other men got out of the place."

____

"Hutton, I'm out already." Daysman said into his phone's mouthpiece as he entered into the car in the FOX Corporation compound.

"Hope you were as calm as required?" The voice from the other end asked.

"Yeah, I acted well." Daysman answered. "The dude is asking for documents in two hours."

"He'd be handled," Hutton replied. "You need to face the next step, I'm sure someone or a group is on the way to get you like they did with Henson and Brad but we're with you."

The Bodyguard - Episode 6

By Tisa Phiri

......Paula....

I took a bath after I sent my rescuer to another room to clean up. He was a totally messed up, but I respected his braveness. If it were not his good deed of coming to my rescue. I had no idea what those idiots were going to do to me.

Recalling the moment Ackim came in the room I was tied up, all my hopes where gone. All I knew that any moment I would die at the hands of those thugs. My hands had gone numb from being tied up. The many hours they kept me seemed like forever.

Then, I saw him..Ackim, he stood behind the guy who was almost going to hit me again so I shut up. His face was covered in a long and bushy moustache. However, I could see how honesty eyes were. He charged forward and slit my captor's throat and I frooze. I had never seen a dead body so close to me. As Ackim walked behind to untie me I was so scared my voice wouldn't come out right when I asked who he waa. later on as we ran in the dark night, my running abilities charged in and I ran like I was in a race on the running track. I was always a good runner but at that moment fear added to my speed. I had to ran like my life depended on it.

Though I was at first not comfortable being with a total stranger, there was something about his voice, he sounded to be an honesty and good man. I mean, who would risk his life for someone he didn't know. He's combat told me he was in some kind of army, but definately not Zambian army uniform. Everything about him showed he was Zambian even his accent.

I fall asleep on his shoulder covered in his Jacket. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't lay besides a stranger and use a jacket with a strong scent of dirty. but I needed to keep warm before I could worry about the scent, it just felt safe being close to that stranger.

With each step I took walking with Ackim I realised he trully had a big heart, though he thought he was more of an animal because of What he was subjected to in Congo. I still thought he's humanity was still intact.

When I finished taking a bath, I sat down in my office and called my father. I had to let him know I was alive. I needed to be a bit relaxed when talking to him no wonder I cleaned myself up first.

"Helo!" Dad answered at the third ring of his telephone. I had guesed well, that he was in his office that afternoon.

" yes dad it's Paula" I answered back..

"Paula? My baby where are you? I have been so worried. I sent people to look for you all over. what happened to you?" he asked further without giving me a chance to respond.

"Dad calm down" I said softly.

" am fine now.. some people had me kidnapped but am safe. am at the lodge I thought it wise I stay here today not knowing what is really going on."

I heard my dad sigh.

"I thank Jesus you are alive Paula I was loosing my mind and my enemies almost succeed in getting what they wanted from me. I think it's a good idea you stay over there in a couple of days until we put in place the people who did this to you. so I will come over tomorrow. I don't want to act fast. By coming there i might risk exposing you. Am suspecting someone from the inside my company or friends is working against me." Dad explained.

"Sure dad, I will fill you in on the details of how i was rescued by a stranger later then"

" take care my baby" dad added before hanging up.

Whatever it is my father's enemies had planned against him was serious and I intended to ask him now that I was alive and well.

I walked to Ackim's room an hour later, stood by his door shocked. The perfect guy that stood before me didn't look like the one I spent hours with. Ge was so hot, my heart skipped a bit. His bulged muscles and broad shoulders were like that of an American basket ball player. I tried to compose myself when I noticed he saw me drolling over him. I stammered as I told him he looked different, his well shaved face and head showed off his handsome face. His weak and soft eyes looking at me, made my throat move up and down swiftly. I was embarrassed and I quickly walked out leading the way to the eating table.

All the time i was marvelled by his speech, he smiled most of the times especially when he talked about his home. I had to control my drolling owing to the fact that, the man I was admiring was a stranger who would probably leave the following day never to return again.

I had not gotten involved in any serious relationship since I broke up with my boyfriend back in Australia. I had gotten myself a couple of men but non of then caught my attention to the extent of me wanting more from them than some one time hook ups.

After our dinner, Ackim patted my back and told me to rest well. For some reason he didn't pay much attention to me as I did him, so I guesed i wasn't his type of girl after all.

Early in the morning I woke up and took a quick shower, pulled a pair of brown skin jeans and a white sleeveless blouse then I put an orange throw on. Satisfied with my casual looks I let loose my hair, the curls from the previous day were still visible.

I heard a soft knock on my door.. "come in!" I called out.

I peeped from the bathroom door and i saw Ackim standing his hands in his pockets.

"good morning !" I called out.. "morning!" he answered in his gentle voice.

" did I disturb you?" He asked as he looked around my room.

"Um, no you have not" i chuckled coming out of the bathroom. I suggested we sit by the eating table. So we discuss the way forward.

" My father will join us soon" I looked up at him..

"Alright." he smiled putting his hands in his blue jeans again. I smiled inwardly..

My designer instincts were perfect. just looking at him I had known the exact size of his clothes and shoes and the good part is that the the person I sent, bought the exact things I told him.

My father joined us and I explained about Ackim. He was so grateful for his actions and immediately wrote a cheque to compesate him, but Ackim turned down the cheque.

"Sorry sir, we just told you I have been away for some time. so I don't even have my valid papers and an account. I would rather you give me cash if you don't mind and then I will head my way." he added.

"Sure I understand young man" my father told him.

" but it means you will have wait up until tomorrow so that my bank can issue the cash."

"thank you again." Dad told him.. "it's unfortunate you want to leave otherwise I wanted to propose you stay here and work for me as my daughter's bodyguard am afraid her life is still in danger and I don't trust my own men. my instincts tell me to trust you more than them Ackim.." he continued.

"Am glad you regard me like that Sir" Ackim smiled at dad.

"but I have to go home and try locating my family, besides, am still indented to my unit as a commando. I need to report back and probably help rescue the other guys who remained behind..." he explained..

I knew it was hard to convince him to stay. I too felt safe around him but it wasnt fair of me to ask him sacrifice his life further more..

"it's okey dad." spoke up.

" let him go and sort his life and if he would decide otherwise he might as well come back and work for us" I said looking at Ackim. He smiled and nodded his head to agree with me.

Dad left us after we chatted and he filled me in on what was going on with his political issues and how the enemies wanted to get him to surrender a big sum of money for my release. He had almost given up the money but the bank delayed the process and luckily I should up before he handed them the cash.

Later that afternoon, I asked Ackim to drive me to town to get a few clothings for both of us. I couldnt risk going home to get my clothes and the clothes i had put in the room at the lodge were not enough to take me for more days.

I noticed Ackim look around as we headed to the shops. He walked a step back from me and I wondered what was going on. I was still wondering when Ackim shouted.. "get down.!."

confused, I lay down and watched in fear as he stood up after a gun shot missed us. He pulled me back to the car and ran after some guy. Holding his gun

"don't come out!" he told me before going. Trembling with i got my phone and dialled dad's line.

"Dad !" I shouted.

"someone just attacked us in town, you have to send someone here. Ackim is gone after the shooter he might be in danger." I told him crying.

" am coming Paula" dad's panicking voice responded as i hang up.

The Bodyguard - Episode 5

By Tisa Phiri

3 hours later, we reached the town of Solwezi. I had visited the small time years back, my uncle, mom's brother once lived there before he passed on. At the time i was only 10 years old. I could still remember a few places though there was some great improvements and the small town was growing. I guess it was the coming of the investors in the mines.

Paula, told the driver of the open Van to drive us to one of the lodges she said belonged to her father. Immediately we walked to the reception the lodge workers came running to welcome and greet her. "what happened to you Madam?" One of the workers asked her.

" are you okey? Can we help you with something?" He asked her tagging behind as we walked in the long corridor heading towards the rooms.

"Yes" Paula answered..

"tell the accountant to pay the driver of the Van outside and please call someone to the office right now."

"yes mam" the guy responded turning to go back after giving me a dirty glance.

Paula led me to a wide office with good looking furniture and neatly decorated cream white leather chairs behind a mahogan table.

An air con direct on the left of table..

"this is where I work from sometimes when I want to take a break from my busy schedules." she told me as she removed her boots.

"uuuhhhh! " She screamed as she tried to step on the floor. I noticed the blisters were worse than I had seen earlier.

I giggle in my head, thank God I was a black person, it would take the whole week of walking for me to get such blisters on my feet.

"You need to be checked by a doctor" I suggested as she sat in her chair looking really exausted.

"not Now Ackim. I need to wash off this dirty on me and then make a few calls. Am not sure what's going on with dad. So I won't risk exposing myself yet until am certain this is under control." She sighed tired.

I nodded in agreement..

"I think I can use a bath too" I spoke up still standing. I saw how people looked at me at the entrance, surely I was a real mess.

"Oh yeah, sorry Ackim" she sighed.

"look at me, am busy thinking of my problems forgetting you too need to be taken care of, am sorry.. " she added.

I smiled..

"it's okey, i understand. just show me the bathroom I get to it already "

She lifted the land line in the room and dialled some number..

"Shila come over to my office " she called on the phone. A couple of minutes later a tall and dark girl with a well shaped body walked in.

"Show my friend a room which is vacant and give him whatever he will ask for, make sure he's comfortable." Paula added as the girl led me out of the office. she looked at me with a disgust look but I ignored her. who would blame her anyway, my body had not touched any water for the past 4 days except that of rains which even made it worse. I could bet I had a stench. I even wondered how Paula had manged to stay close to me as we walked together.

Shila opened a room two doors from the office we left Paula.. "there's water and everything you need to get cleaned up" she explained, Still avoiding any contact with me.

"Thank you" i smiled and immediately regrated it, she made a face of disgust and walked away almost holding her nose.

The feel of the warm water in my skin was so wonderful. I took all the time i had scrubbing my skin. I had to get rid of the dirty I was feeling and had felt for almost 6 years. If i didn't escape I could have lived under the command of general Loko for 6 years the follwing month.

After almost two hours of being in the tab scrubbing myself, I finally emmerged from the water and went to look at my self in a mirror. I slowly held my face.

"oh my God" I whispered, i could not believe how I looked. only an inch of my face was visible, my hair was long and tied, the moustache had grown covering three quaters of my face. I looked at my self for a few more minutes, a tear dropped from my eye as I recalled what I had been through. I however was not the cry type, so the tear disappeared as soon as it fall off my eye and it was dry again.

"Thank God am alive" I whispered.

It was the only prayer I could say over the years, either thank God for my life today or thank you God for the food. I never went beyond that. I guess I was forgetting every other prayer my mother taught me and what I learnt from church.

I was gone thinking about my life when I heard a soft knock on the door. I wrapped a towel in my waist and walked towards the door. A short guy stood by the door, he smiled at me..

" I have been told to come help you with your hair" he mentioned showing me the shaving machine in his hands.

" of course, thank you" I nodded indicating him to come in.

The guy did his thing and all the while we both were quite. He finished and asked me to look in the mirror..

"great work!" I exclaimed seeing my face clear and the moustache well treamed and shaped, leaving a very thin linning which defined my chin, revealing my thin lips. My head was clean and well shaved too. I could confess I looked like a different person, the people who saw me before could not identify me at first sight of my change.

In an hour I was done cleaning myself and I put on the new clothes another worker handed me. I wonder how Paula managed to give them accurate sizes to my clothes and shoes. I wore a pair of black jeans and a long sleeved body top which defined my bulged muscles. If not for the small vest I put inside the top could have exposed my pointed small nipples.

what I did everyday of my life was a drill and I needed no gym to get a perfect body shape.

Paula come by later and she stood by the door quite for a few minutes checking me out.

" wow! " She exclaimed.

"you look um..mm good" she murmered. I let a smile..

"it's almost like you can't believe am the same person you saw an hour before" I added standing from the bed I had lay back on.

"Sure I can confess you look different" she chuckled.

"let's have some real food" she suggested leading the way out. she looked great in her small dress and high Heels, even though she didn't have a well outlined Zambian woman shape, she looked perfect in her dress which revealed her round hips.

we sat in the corner of the restraunt at the lodge as the waiters served some hot dishes of food.

Later that evening she suggested we rest and see the way forward the next day. Laying on my back I immediately fall asleep, the comfort of the bed making it easy to relax. After 5 years and some months of being in the bush it really felt more than great.

Blood Lives Here - Episode 4

© Brian Ngoma

"You must be joking," Kate looked at Kent and bursted into laughter.

"I'm serious Kate. The man was serious," Kent said seriously.

"That's just bullshit; he was scaring you!" She objected him. "Where could Ludo have gotten all the information from to write a story about the most notorious crime lords of our country?"

"You have to ask her," Kent shrugged.

"He was just scaring you."

"I could feel it in my heart that he wasn't."

"How come I haven't heard about these people?"

"You are not in their circles that's why."

"Are you?"

Kent nodded.

"If they are that notorious, we could have read about them somewhere," Kate concluded the discussion.

Kent didn't say anything but look at his wife.

"Finish up your breakfast you have to go to work," She told him while she washed the plates.

Kent had not slept much after the talk he had with the stranger in the club. He kept thinking about the possibilities of it being true. If what that man said was true, Ludo's manuscript could put him in trouble with his superiors much more, his life could be in jeopardy. Then again, he thought about Ludo; Her awkwardness and unstable personality. She was just an ordinary girl with a passion of writing. Where could she have gotten the information about the family? Perhaps his wife was right, the stranger in the club was playing with his mind.

"This is good Kate," he complimented her. "You never cease to amaze me with how you prepare breakfast."

"Just eat," she smiled at him. "So what do you think about Ludo?"

Kent swallowed the bread.

"Don't choke yourself you have all the time."

"She's an intelligent girl obviously. Writing something like that takes a lot of brains. She's a good writer."

"Didn't I tell you?" She teased him. "I spot talent when I see one. Back in high school, she had a passion for literature. When she said she wanted to be a writer, i never doubted her."

"Don't go ahead of yourself. My people are still going through the manuscript."

"I'm sure they are enjoying."

"I bet so, I'm leaving now. Bye."

"Without a kiss?"

"Ohhh sorry," Kent went back and kissed her forehead.

"See you tonight honey," she waved him goodbye.

Ludo kept thinking about why her dad didn't say goodbye. She was upset that she had to hear from her mother that he had travelled. She understood that he was a busy man but at least he could have texted to say goodbye. She fidgeted in her bedroom looking at her phone waiting for Mr. Visashi to call her and give her a response of the book. She knew she was overexcited because it was too early, the book couldn't have been read and liked in just hours. She had to wait for at least some days or weeks to get a feedback but that was too much for her. Without anything to write about, she realised how boring her life was. She walked around the house and outside trying to pass time but it was like each hour took three hours to pass.

"Ludo, lunch is ready," Nancy called her.

"I'm coming Nana," Ludo said.

She went to the dining room and found that Nancy had put the food in the warmers. Ludo sat and felt the table to be too big for her alone.

"Eat with me," she looked at Nancy.

Nancy was surprised.

"Me?"

"Of course, we are just the two of us in here. Come sit down we eat."

Nancy sat down and started eating. Ludo on the other hand was just playing with her food and constantly checking her phone.

"You are not eating Ludo," Nancy said wiping her lips.

"I have lost appetite."

"Your mother said you should eat," Nancy said.

"I know. Don't tell her I was playing with my food," Ludo laughed.

"I won't," Nancy laughed too. "You keep checking your phone, waiting for a call from someone special?"

"NO," Ludo answered defensively.

"I'm just asking."

They all went quiet.

"Do you have someone special?" Ludo asked Nancy.

Nancy shyly answered, "Yes."

"Really?"

Nancy nodded.

"How's he like?"

"He's good to me. I think he loves me," Nancy said with a glow on her face. "Have you ever had a boyfriend?"

"Me?"

"We are the two of us here," Nancy looked around.

"No. Who can date me? And mom says men just want girls for sex," Ludo said.

"Sex strengthens a relationship. If you love him, there is nothing wrong with that.," Nancy said.

Ludo thought otherwise but didn't want to argue with Nancy. She was having a good time talking to her. At least she didn't feel lonely. She knew a lot of things about Nancy she never knew. Nancy was a free spirited girl from the slums who didn't tolerate nonsense but her weakness was that she fell fall bad guys who either cheated on her or ended up verbally or physically abused her. All in all, she was strong willed and never gave up on love or life.

"Life is hard out there," Nancy sighed. "You people here don't suffer like we do."

"That's what you think," Ludo laughed. "We also have a share of problems here."

"At least they are better," Nancy laughed.

Ludo nodded.

"I'm going to take a nap now, I feel tired. I wouldn't want to have another episode now," Ludo left for her bedroom.

As usual, Book world publishing company was busy in the afternoons with everyone running around trying to sort out their tasks. It was no different for Kent, he also had a lot on his hands. A lot of upcoming writers were on his back that he had to tell his secretary to tell them he was not in.

"Sir Mr. Visashi is not in," Kent’s secretary said.

"Who could that be now?" Kent asked himself.

He knew his secretary would deal with whatever it was. A few seconds later, he heard her quarrelling with someone. Kent didn't want to check out who it was because that would be embarrassing for both him and his secretary. He tried to resume his work but the noise persisted. He stood up and was about to walk to the door when his door opened. A man stood before him wearing a black suit and specks. He looked pretty neat and too gentle to be quarrelling with his secretary.

"I'm sorry Mr. Visashi, this man didn't listen to me," Kent’s secretary apologised.

"It’s ok you can go," Kent dismissed her.

"So you're Mr. Visashi," the man entered and pulled himself a chair.

"What can I do for you?" Kent asked studying the man.

"Hmmm, aren't you supposed to ask who Iam?"

"Tell me!" Kent answered irritated.

"Okay that later, I'm here for something."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Let me see," the man crossed his fingers. "How can I put it?"

"If you have nothing important to say, I suggest you leave my office," Kent stood up and pointed the man to the door.

"Kent," the man laughed.

"How do you know my name?"

"I know everyone. I know how much you get paid. I know where you drink from. I know your friend O'Brien. I know your wife is a teacher; Kate. Kent and Kate. Double K," the man chuckled.

Kent felt his stomach rumble.

"Who are you?"

"I go by many names which apparently I don't like at all."

"What do you want?"

"I want the manuscript."

Kent was surprised. He had a lot of manuscripts in his office which were pending to be checked. Some, were checked and left to rot. Perhaps this was an angry upcoming writer who had been rejected sometime back.

"Did you buy any chance brought a manuscript here?"

"Come on Kent. Do I look like a writer," the man looked at himself and back at Kent. "I'm everything but a writer. I'm sure this black suit is deceiving a lot of people."

"Whose manuscript do you want?" Kent asked feeling his hands shake.

The man in front of him didn't seem dangerous but what scared him was the fact that he seemed to know him and a lot of things concerning his life. If there was one thing Kent hated was publicity. Despite being a notable man in his circles, he never let media houses publish anything about him. They had tried but not a single one managed.

"I don't know who it belongs to but it’s about Brawler, Brains and Jezebel," the man answered thoughtfully.

Kent felt his knees go numb. His suspicions and fears had been confirmed. The story Ludo wrote was not fiction. He remembered the conversation he had with the stranger in the club.

"Who are you?" Kent asked concealing his fears.

"How many times will you ask me that Kent? It's now irritating me. Are you giving me the manuscript or not?"

Kent saw the anger in the man’s eyes. He really wanted the manuscript.

"It’s not here," Kent said regretfully.

"You are making me angry Kent," the man stood up. "This was supposed to be easy. That's the reason they sent me. I'm good at dialogue. I don't like to get my hands dirt."

"Who sent you?"

"That's none of your business. Now Listen, they trusted me. They wanted to send someone but they knew things would have been totally different as we speak now."

"I don't understand."

"In short Kent, you could have been dead by now. Now give me the manuscript."

Hearing that he could have been dead startled Kent. He wasn't lying when he said, the manuscript was not with him because he had sent it to his junior editors to check it out.

"Time is money Kent," the man said impatiently. "You love Kate?"

Kent’s eyes widened.

"One call and she's dead," the man laughed. "Where is she now? At school teaching, right?"

Kent quickly ran to the door.

"Wait Kent!" The man shouted.

Kent stopped and looked back.

"Try anything stupid and everything you thought you had will disappear like a speck of dust," the man snapped his fingers.

Kent came back with the manuscript in his hand sweating and breathing heavily.

"You see? Did I have to threaten you," the man patted Kent’s shoulder.

"Don't hurt my family. I'm just an editor," Kent begged. "I don't have control over the stories brought to me."

THE FAMILY THAT KILLS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER by Ludo Sakala.

"Woooow, this title is catchy!" The man exclaimed. "Ludo Sakala?"

"She's just an innocent girl don't hurt her please."

"Do I look like I can hurt anyone?"

"I don't know!" Kent answered. "You seem dangerous though."

"I'm leaving now Kent. We are not yet done," the man smiled devilishly.

"What ..... What...... What do you mean we are not done?" Kent stammered.

The man turned around and looked at Kent. "By the way, I'm Brains," he laughed and left Kent’s office.

Kent quickly got his phone and called His wife. He kept praying she was fine. She answered his call.

"Thank God you're safe," he cried out.

"Of course I'm safe, what is it?" She asked him.

"The people Ludo wrote about truly exist Kate,. At least one." Kent said.

"Hold on. Breathe. You sound startled. Which people?"

"I just met Brains."

Kate laughed at him..

"I'm serious Kate."

"Brains......?" She inquired.

"Yes. He got Ludo's manuscript."

Kate was astounded. "What do you mean he got Ludo's Manuscript? Why would you give him her manuscript?"

"He threatened to have you killed."

Kate got quiet.

"Hello Kate, are you still there?"

"Brains from Ludo's story?"

"Yes my love."

"Oh my God Ludo. Let me call you back. I have to talk to Ludo."

Kate cut the line and dialled Ludo's number.

THE SUBSCRIBER YOU HAVE DIALED HAS THEIR PHONE SWITCHED OFF.

"Ludo!" Kate whined. "Where are you?"

Nancy and Ludo walked side by side talking and laughing. Ludo was escorting Nancy. She had knocked off and being that Ludo's mother was not yet back, Ludo decided to escort her. She had left her phone back home on the charger but she didn't notice that it wasn't charging and had drained.

"You have to go back now it's getting late Ludo," Nancy told Ludo.

"It's still early," Ludo said. "Look at the sun, it hasn't even set."

Nancy laughed.

"So who do you stay with?" Ludo asked.

"My sister."

"Just the two of you?"

"With her two children."

"Her husband?"

"She's not married."

Ludo didn't ask any further. She looked at Nancy and felt what she was going through. Even though, they lived in different worlds and had different woes, Ludo thought they were somehow alike.

"Seriously, Ludo you have to go back," Nancy stopped.

"Okay! Okay! you're like your lady boss. I'm going back now."

"Hurry up. Take care," Nancy waved her goodbye.

"Take care too Nancy," Ludo started going back.

She walked back slowly singing a song. She felt peaceful as she walked freely in the streets. It was quiet. All she could hear were sounds of dogs barking from a distance. As she walked minding her business, a range rover sport hooted behind her. She didn't look back because she was walking in the pedestrian’s space. The rover didn't stop hooting. Ludo stood and the car pulled by her.

A tall dark beautiful woman came out of the car. She had worn a denim short and a white crop top. Her feet were bare. She came out with a bottle of Hunters dry in her hand. Ludo looked at her and wondered why she didn't she have any shoes.

"I'm sorry. I'm lost," the woman walked to Ludo.

"It's ok. Where are you heading to?"

"I'm looking for Zamiwe Sakala."

"Zamiwe Sakala?" Ludo asked surprised.

"Yes do you know her."

"She's my mother. Who are you?"

"I'm her friend from back in the day."

"Really. I never thought mom had friends like...." Ludo gulped looking at the lady from head to toe.

"Like what? Don't judge a lady by what she wears. Moreover, it's hot," the lady smiled. "Aren't you going home?"

"That's where I'm heading to now."

"Well you are in luck, you get to ride in my brand new range rover sport," the lady turned around.

Ludo didn't move.

"What are you waiting for?"

"It's just that mom told me not to ride in stranger’s cars."

"Am I a stranger?"

Ludo laughed. "I guess not. You know my mother."

Ludo got into the car. It was smelling beer. It was obvious this lady was a drunkard.

"How do you know my mother?" Ludo asked.

"We went to the same school."

"She never mentioned having a friend."

The lady laughed as she started the engine.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Erica," the lady paused.

"Beautiful name," Ludo said.

"I don't like it."

"Why?"

Erica closed the car windows and sipped on her bottle of hunters dry.

"Why don't you like the name Erica?" Ludo asked again.

"I'm used to been called Jezebel."

Blood Lives Here - Episode 3

© Brian Ngoma

Hunter checked his time.

11:24.

His flight was at 14:00 hours. He had prepared everything and had packed all his gear. Leaving the country was not on his wishlist but there was nothing he could have done, that was his only way to stay alive. He didn't expect Hilary to betray him like that. Trust for him was a big word but he relied on her. He knew she could deliver but along the way, love happened to her. It was the same love that got her killed. Hunter didn't have any regrets on Hilary's murder. Killing had become a hobby for him.

His phone rang.

He looked at it feeling his heart pound. He answered and remained quiet.

"Hunter!" A man's voice answered on the other end of the line.

Hunter didn't say anything.

"I can feel you breathing and from the looks for it, you are scared Hunter," the man said.

Hunter restrained himself not to say anything.

"Well, let me get to the point," the man paused and coughed. "I know you have Hilary but guess what, you can do anything you want with her, I'm done with her. I got all the information I wanted from her," the man laughed.

Hunter thought about Hilary's last scream.

"A man like you should never trust a woman. Women betray in a blink of an eye. You should know better."

He clenched his fists.

"I would like us to meet one of these days and talk," the man added. "That is if you will still be alive."

He felt a surge of fury.

"I told them to take you out without much difficult and struggle so that you be spared of the pain."

He heard sounds from the outside. He walked to his window and moved the curtains slightly. He saw two men climbing his fence.

"I'm certain you are now aware," the voice on the phone said. "Anyway goodbye Mr Hunter."

Hunter quickly went to his gear bag and opened it. He reached for the gun and then thought to himself that it was daylight. He couldn't use a gun. While debating on what weapon to use, his front door clicked. He knew they had entered. He got his knife and hid behind the door. He stood still behind the door hearing the footsteps which were slowly approaching his bedroom door. From the footsteps, he could discern that it was only one person coming at him.

The door opened. Hunter saw a gun first which the man was holding. Before he could even see his face, Hunter grabbed the gun and hit the man twice with his right elbow on the face. He threw the gun below his bed and whilst the man was still touching his face, Hunter jumped on him and landed on the floor. He clenched his fist so hard and hit the man on the face directly deeming him unconscious.

He heard footsteps running towards where he was. He slowly went back inside the bedroom and locked it. He zipped his gear bag and carried it. He went to his window, opened it and got out from it. He ran to the front door and locked it from the outside. He went behind the house and got his car and drove it out of his compound seeing the other man looking at him from the window banging it. He knew he would never shoot because it was daylight and that would have attracted unnecessary attention. Hunter didn't want to kill those two. His intentions were to send a message to the man on the phone. He drove to the airport. Upon arrival, he knew it would take a miracle to bring him back to Zambia. He was going to his usual hideout in Madagascar.

Mrs. Visashi sat across her husband, Mr. Visashi on a table in his office. They were all quiet avoiding each others eyes. Mr. Visashi tried to make himself busy because he was feeling her thoughts and from time to time, saw her evil stare.

"You heard me Kent!" She broke the silence.

"I did," Kent sighed.

"So what are you going to do about it?" She asked him.

Kent sighed, "my hands are tied. I have so many upcoming and published writers on my back. I cannot squeeze in her work. She's not even done with her novel."

"I read a part of it, trust me its good. I know good when I see good," Kate said confidently.

"There is a process we follow Kate," Kent paused and looked at her. "Just because you like her doesn't mean she's all that good."

"What are you saying Kent?" Kate raised her eyebrows.

Kent shifted uneasily.

"I'm saying let us give her time. She's still young. Let her perfect her craft and we can talk about her work in two or three years."

"Impossible!" Kate raised her voice. "If you only saw what I saw, you wouldn't be saying all this. I thought your work was to assist people like Ludo to fulfill their dreams."

"It is."

"But why can't you?"

"I'm tied Kate."

"Whatever!" She stood up and headed for the door.

Kent knew better not to let her go out of his sight angry. He stood up and before she could reach the door, he stopped her by holding her hand and closed the door.

"What?" She asked him.

"Sit down."

She rolled her eyes as she grabbed the chair.

Kent took a deep breathe while tucking his shirt properly and sat down.

"What you're asking me is too big Kate," he said after much thought.

"I couldn't be asking you for something you cannot manage to do Kent."

"I know."

"But?"

"Nothing," he gulped. "You will have to tell her to bring her work here so that I can take a look at it."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Aww my Kent, you're such a darling."

"I'm not promising anything though."

"Fair enough," Kate got up and went to her husband and kissed him goodbye.

She got outside Bookworld publishing company happy. She got her phone and dialed Ludo's number.

"Hello Mrs. Visashi," Ludo answered.

"Hi dear how are you?"

"I'm fine. Sorry about what happened four days ago," Ludo laughed.

Kate laughed too.

"Its fine my dear. Have you started working on the final chapter of your book?"

"Yes i have."

"That's good. So I have good news."

"What is it Mrs. Visashi?"

"My husband is an editor for Bookworld Publishers and I talked to him about your Novel and he said he would be more than glad to check it out."

"You're kidding!"

"No I'm not dear."

Ludo screamed joyfully.

"Sorry about that," she giggled.

"I will text you the address and his number. You should go there and pitch him your work. Is that okay?"

"Yes it is," Ludo said sadly.

Kate recognised the sadness in Ludo's voice.

"What is it?"

"What if he doesn't like it?"

"He will, trust me. I didn't even tell about the genre because I want it to be a surprise to him."

"I will go there. I have to talk to mom first."

"Okay dear take care now!"

Ludo hung up her cellphone and sighed.

"Talk to me about what?" Her mother entered the bedroom.

"You were eavesdropping mom?" Ludo asked surprised.

"No I was coming to call you for lunch and heard that you will have to talk to me first. What is it? Who were you talking to?"

"It was Mrs. Visashi mom."

"Ohhh. How is she?"

"Good."

"What were two talking about?"

"Apparently, she thinks my novel is worth publishing."

"You showed her?" Ludo's mother asked surprised.

"Yes mom. She was interested in it."

"I thought we agreed we would self publish it."

"Yes I know but wouldn't self publishing be expensive mother?"

Ludo's mother nodded.

"You see? Let us try out Mrs. Visashi's husband."

"Its her husband?"

"Yes. He is the editor at Bookworld publishing company."

"That's huge."

"I know, right?"

"But you are yet to finish the last Chapter."

"Its just the last chapter, we have to finish it tonight mom."

"Tonight?"

"Yes. You have plans?"

"Not really but I thought tonight was movie night."

"We can postpone mom."

"Ok sweetie."

Ludo and her mother worked on the novel the whole night. By the time it was 3am, they were convinced it was done.

"Are you really sure this is the ending you wanted?" Ludo's mother asked her.

"I'm sure yeah," Ludo answered with a smile.

"Ok take it tomorrow."

"Have you drafted the synopsis?"

"Yes I have."

"Good. Have some rest, you have a big day tomorrow."

"Goodnight mom."

"Goodnight sweetie."

"Wait mom. Dad?"

"He called me saying his traveled."

"He didn't tell me."

"I'm sure he will call you this morning."

"Ok mom."

As Ludo walked to the gate of BookWorld publishers, she felt her heart racing. She started doubting herself if what she had written was good enough. She wanted to go back but comforted herself that it was going to be fine. She reached Mr. Visashi's office and found a secretary.

"How can I help you young lady?" The secretary asked with a smile.

"I'm here to see Mr. Visashi," Ludo answered.

"You have an appointment with him?"

"Yes."

The secretary got her receiver and dialed. Ludo watched her talk while she admired the office.

"You can go in dear."

Ludo went in and found Mr. Visashi sitted comfortably on his chair. He pointed her to a chair.

"You must be Ludo?" He stared at her.

Ludo couldn't feel her legs as she sat down. She was nervous.

"Yes sir."

"Ok I'm going to give you one chance to lure me into the world you have created. My wife talked highly of it."

"What do you mean Lure you sir?"

"You have the synopsis?"

"Yes sir," Ludo opened her laptop bag and got a piece of paper and wanted to hand it to Mr. Visashi.

"No. Keep it for now."

Ludo was surprised.

"Where is the manuscript?"

"Its in the bag sir."

"Ok, tell me about your story. What genre is it?"

"Crime fiction."

Mr. Visashi's face brightened. It had been a while ever since a writer had come who was in the genre of crime fiction.

"What is it about?"

"Its about a family who are involved in every sort of crime imaginable. Their crime activities are run by their mother."

Mr. Visashi's curiousity grew even more.

"I have given names to my main characters. For example, the mom is referred as a Lioness. The first born is Brawler and his brother is Brains while the last born is Jezebel," Ludo smiled.

"I see."

"And their father is wheelchair ridden. He is the Wounded Lion. He has stroke."

Mr. Visashi smiled and said, "I hope the work is as good as what you have told me."

"It is sir," she smiled.

"Ok hand it to me. I will get back to you. Let me have my people look at it. Don't worry I will give you an honest opinion of your work."

"Thank you," Ludo left.

Later that evening, Mr. Visashi was having a drink with one of his friends and mostly they would talk about work and other things. He got interested with Ludo's work but was only worried if she was ready enough to get published. His wife told him about her condition and got really concerned.

"What is bothering you my friend?" Obrien asked Kent.

"A girl brought a manuscript today and I think she's destined for greatness. I'm just worried about her condition," Kent answered.

"If she's good don't worry about her condition. How good is her work?"

"Very good. My people said they are enjoying it."

"Really?"

"Yes man," Kent sipped on his pint.

"What is it about?"

Kent told Obrien about Ludo's storyline. He told him everything she had told him amd he was equally astonished.

"It's good i tell you. My wife has an eye for good things," Kent smiled.

"Unfortunately not when it came to you," Obriene laughed.

"You fool."

"Let me grab some more beers," Obriene stood up.

Kent remained and texted his wife that he was going to come a little bit late than usual.

"Excuse me," a man touched Kent's shoulder.

Kent turned around and didn't seem to know the man.

"How can i help you?"

"I couldn't help it but hear you talking about a story."

"Ohh yea. A girl brought in a story that we are currently working on."

"Did you mention something like Brawler, Brains and Jezebel?"

"Yes, you are great listener," Kent was surprised.

"Those names you mentioned exist," the man looked around as if scared.

"Yes they exist in Ludo's story."

"No! Not in the story."

Kent looked at the man.

"Those are real people."

"Are you drank?"

"I'm having orange juice," the man showed Kent his glass. "The names you mentioned are nick names of the infamous crime lords of our City. Brawler and Brains are twins."

"You are kidding right?"

"How i wish i was man. Your girl Ludo is getting herself into trouble," the man said assured. "Did they do something to her?"

Kent's heartbeat raced. He remembered she told him it's crime Fiction.

"If i were you. I would stop talking about those names because people who do don't live to tell a tale. Look at those guys over there," the man pointed at a group of guys sitted looking at them.

Kent tilted his neck.

"They also heard you talk about the trio."

"It's a story," Kent said shaking.

"Don't tell me i didn't warn you," The man stood up and left the club.

Kent was panting heavily. Obriene came back and asked what was wrong with him. Kent looked around the club and felt that all eyes were on him.

"I have to go," he got up and ran to his car.

Ludo couldn't stop smiling about the progress she was making. She felt at peace knowing that she was trying something different. At least she would prove her father that all the time she spent writing was not a waste. She looked at the photo of her parents on her table and smiled. She touched it and said, "Goodnight my people, i hope you work things out." She closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.

Ruthernard Estate, Bexford.

Henry had no choice than to wait at the estate gate to go through the security check. He watched as Paul Edwards and his entourage drove off.

He took off his helmet in response to the security men's request.

"I'm coming from work, here to visit someone and I'm here to visit someone," he replied to a question.

After scrutinizing for some more seconds with his eyes, the security man checking him gestured for him to proceed. Henry put back on the helmet and sped off.

He reduced his speed as soon as he got sight of the vehicles again. He continued to follow at a good pace and rducd his speed when he noticed they also reduced theirs. Soon he saw Paul Edwards escort's car indicating to turn to the left.

Henry watched them as they turned into the Ruthernard Hospital. He followed after and got in exactly a minute after them. He continued on a slow speed after passing through the gate of the hospital. He noticed where his targets' car had been parked and saw Paul already walking into the hospital. He parked his vehicle in a space farther away. He turned off the engine and made his way into the hospital after taking off the helmet.

"Good afternoon," he replied the greeting of the security man at the door of the hospital and proceeded into the reception.

Paul Edwards was gone away from the reception before he stepped in. He proceeded to the desk to mee the nurse there.

"Good afternoon sir," the nurse greeted with smiles.

"Good afternoon, I need to open a record with you and see a doctor immediately." Henry replied her.

"Please do have your seat, I'll bring the card for you."

"No please, I've got no time for that. Can you refer me to the doctor immediately, I'll fill the card while I talk to the doctor." Henry replied, looking all around to avoid being seen first by Paul or someone else who would recognize him.

"I'm sorry sir, things are not done that way here. You have to fill the card and open you records with us first." The nurse said as she got up to her feet and walked to the shelf to pick a new patient's record card.

"It's an emergency nurse," Henry said to her in an urgent tone.

"You don't look like an emergency," she sized him with her eyes as she turned back to him. She handed him the card and a pen to fill it. Henry began to fill the card right on the nurse's desk.

"Here," Henry handed back the card and the pen to her a minute after he was given.

"Are you sure you filled everything?" she looked at him with suspicious eyes and began to scan the card with her eyes.

"Yes, can you refer me to a doctor now?" Henry replied her impatiently.

"A minute please," the nurse answered and quickly completed the form at the back cover of the file she had just opened for him. "Please be patient."

"Be quick about it."

The nurse got up from the desk and hurried through the hallway to one of the doctor's office with the new file and the card. She returned a minute later and signalled for Henry to come with her.

Henry was led into the doctor's office and was ushered to the visitor's seat. The nurse left the office before the doctor before to ask him questions.

"Mr Henry Jack, what would you like to see me for?"

"I have no illness Doc, there's just a simple favour I require from you."

The doctor squinted. "What favour?"

"There's a Patient in this hospital and I need to check the records."

The doctor raised his brows. "That's strange, why should I allow you see the records of anpother patient?"

"Because I need it for something good and urgent."

The doctor stared at his face for a while and then smiled. "Man, you got to be kidding me, this is crazy."

Henry banged his fist on the table hard, in a way that startled the doctor. "This is urgent Doc, you cannot be laughing."

The doctor stared at him with a surprised look in his eyes, the man's case was looking more like a mental case to him. "I'm sorry Mr Henry, but I think I'm no the right doctor for you to see, I'll just refer you to another doctor."

The doctor picked up the landline receiver and began to dial a number.

"Put that phone down," Henry said and pointed a gun at him.

The doctor's eyes widened in fear and the receiver dropped from his hands.

"Open up your laptop now, I need to get the records from you."

"But... I do not know the patient you are talking about, how can I give you the records?"

"The Patient is..." Henry's voice trailed off as he realized he did not know who the Patient was, he was sure Paul Edwards wasn't the sick person. "Paul Edwards, Chairman of the FOX coperation walked into this hospital some minutes ago. I believe he came to see a member of his family or friend. But I need you to search out the records of the Edwards on your records."

"I'm not allowed to..."

"Shut the hell up! I know you are not allowed to search the records for another patient but I need you to do so right now." Henry said to him.

He cocked the gun when he saw that the doctor was still hesitating.

The doctor quickly pulled his laptop closer and turned on the laptop. Henry got up and turned to the other side to check monitor the doctor's activity and to be sure the Doctor wasn't doing something else.

It took the doctor three minutes to be able to locate the Paul Edward's family records on the Patient's information database.

"This is it," the doctor said as he clicked on it.

"Zoom it," Henry said as he peered at the screen. The doctor obeyed his request and Henry quickly scanned through the displayed records with his eyes, the doctor scrolled with his finger on the arrow button.

"Who is Austin Edwards?" Henry asked rhetorically. He looked at the doctor's face who was also looking at him. Austin Edwards was currently in the hospital to see his doctor for a regular monthly check up. "Google it," Henry added. He knew there was barely anything about Paul Edwards hidden online.

The doctor quickly opened a browser. He clicked in the search box and quickly typed in his search query. In a minute, the google search results were displayed and there were so many results from news websites. Austoin Edwards was Paul Edwards' son who was said to have been killed in the bomb blast in school.

"Go back to the records, I want to find out who his doctor is and what he is been paid attention for."

_

Doctor Sylvanus stood just beside the hospital bed and the patient who was sitting in a chair beside. Noah Edwards, the father of the patient was sitting adjacent his son and the doctor while Paul Edwards was sitting directly opposite the doctor.

"What does it take to get this equipment outside Bexford? I don't want him always coming around for check ups, it is very dangerous." Paul Edwards directed his question to the doctor.

"I explained before sir, not all hospitals in Bethanna are equipped enough to carry out the checkups and it is almost impossible for an individual to get the equipments, one needs an hospital licensed by the federal government to get such." Doctor Sylvanus answered him.

"You just acknowledged that it is possible, why don't you make every step we need to get it, we will fund your every move.'' Paul Edwards replied him.

"It'll take some time sir, but I'll get back to you by evening tomorrow."

__

"Thank you so much Doctor for coperating with me," Henry said with a mischievous smile to the doctor after getting the data he needed and copying some from the laptop into his device. He still had the gun in his hand as he returned to the visitor's seat.

"Now, take the file and write, Precribe some malaria drugs for me."

The doctor picked the file and his pen and did exactly as Henry said. Henry picked the file and crosschecked. "Good one Doc," he hailed with a mischievous smile.

He put his bag on the table and took out a purse, he brought out a syringe and an ampoule from the purse and handed it to the doctor. The doctor widened his eyes as he read the label on the ampoule.

"Drop that first," Henry said and cocked the gun which he had uncocked before again. He moved the gun closer to the doctor. "Now, you'd pick the line and call the reception, tell them you want to rest and that they should not send any patient to you for the next two hours."

"But..." the doctor wanted to argue.

"I'll fix a bullet into your head if you argue," Henry interrupted him.

The doctor picked the line and made the call immediately.

"Now, pick the ampoule, draw in the sedative and inject yourself."

"Are...are you sure it's not poi...poisoned with another substance?" the doctor stammered.

"You want that or want this?" Henry threatened, asking him to choose between injecting himself or taking a bullet.

The doctor sucumb quickly and injected himself the liquid. In less than thirty seconds, his body felt weak and he slept off in his chair.

Henry got up and proceeded out of the office immediately. He met another group of nurses at the reception when he got there. He gave them his file and they looked into it. He was asked to sit and wait while they prepared his medicines.

He proceeded out of the hospital first to check the garage and he discovered that Paul Edward and his escorts' vehicles were no longer there.

He returned to the reception and paid some amount of money before he was given the prescribed drugs.

He proceeded out of the hospital without bothering to get the bike again. He pondered on his discovery as he walked out through the gate. He had been right when he believed that Paul Edwards loved his family so much and would have never allowed for anyone of them to be taken by the Invisible terrorists but until this discovery, he was unsure of Paul Edward's involvement with the terrorists.

Henry's eyes followed Paul Edwards and the security officer behind the man to the garage. Parked behind his car was another for his escorts. The men who were standing around moved closer to the car and they entered after Paul Edwards had settled in the front car.
Henry unlocked the door of the car immediately the cars began to move but he did but step out until the cars were driven past where he was and were close to the gate. He pushed the door open and stepped out, maintaining his gaze at the cars at the gate.
He closed the door behind him and began to walk hurriedly towards the gate immediately he saw his the gate open for them.

He hurried to the road and saw the vehicles going in the left direction. He looked towards the oncoming traffic to check for a taxi but saw none coming in his direction. He however saw a motorcyclist coming his way and waved him down.

The motorcyclist pulled over to his side and raised up the glass of the helmet covering his face.
"You're going somewhere?" The motorcyclist asked him, ready to offer to take him to his destination. He loosened the extra helmet attached to the front and handed to Henry.
"Yes," Henry answered as he held a handle of the motorcycle. "But you'd have to step down for me."
"What?" The man raised his brows. He covered his face and wanted to ride off but Henry grabbed him by the neck and jacked him up. He pushed him on the floor and climbed on the motorcycle quickly. He put on the helmet and rode off in the same direction he saw Paul Edwards go.
___
Cole stopped at the last step of the stairs and peeped into the corridor from the behind the wall. In the left direction was the passage to a phone accessories and gadgets store and the rest of direction led to the restroom for that section of the complex. Cole noticed the uniformed security man standing close to the entrance of the gadget store. The security man was busy with his phone.
He stepped back for a minute and then proceeded quickly in direction of the restroom, walking noisily so as to attract the attention of the security man. He stepped into the restroom and looked around quickly, he noticed that there was no one in both male and female angles.
He stepped back out quickly and carried an impatient look as if he had seen something in the restroom that couldn't make him use it.
"Please sir, you need to check what's here," he beckoned on the security man.
The security man looked up and his eyes met with Cole's. He kept his phone aside for a minute and raised his brows. He did not heard Cole clearly from his distance but he had seen him when he rushed to the restroom, with the Cole's demeanor which he could see from afar, he was sure Cole was trying to complain about something.
He took some steps forward. "Do you need the cleaners?"
"No please, you need to check this. Someone dropped something here," Cole answered him, placing emphasis with his tone on the word "you".
The security man advanced forward quickly, Cole pointed him in as he got closer and led him into the male angle.
"What did you see?" The security man asked inquisitively as he followed Cole one of the toilets.
"I actually need to see you,"Cole stopped suddenly and turned.
The security man squinted at his face for a second and then looked above Cole's shoulder to see if there was truly anything behind him. Just as he turned his eyes again to Cole, he was grabbed by the arm and pulled to the other side. Cole grabbed his neck with his right hand and slammed his back against the wall. The man tried to fight back but Cole grabbed him by the wrist and punched him twice in the belly. The man groaned in pain.
Cole pulled him closer again and kicked him in the belly with his knee. He removed the pistol in the man's pocket and pushed him to the ground.
"Take off your shirt and trousers quickly," Cole pointed the gun at him and took some steps back without turning to close the main door to the restroom. "Quickly!" Cole barked at the man when he could see he was still hesitating.

Police Headquarters, Bexford.

The police interrogation room was slightly different from that of the FOX. The suspect sat behind a transparent glass wall with a rectangular space in front of the seat and the questioner sat at the other side.
Agent Steve sat in the questioners seat and sitting in the suspect's seat was Michael, one of the men who was meant to take the ladies into Richard Brad's mansion that night but were attacked on the way.
"You claimed you were kidnapped on the way but you called Shawn to let in the men you sent, how do we reconcile that?"
"I've explained to them here already and they have confirmed from the girls, we were ambushed on the way, they held me at gunpoint to talk to Shawn on phone." Micheal replied.
"If you were truly kidnapped, then you have to help us find the men who kidnapped you." Steve said to him.
"We were not allowed to look into their faces, and the only time I could look into the face of one of them was when I was being forced to make the call and it was dark. I can't say for sure that I remember what he looks like perfectly."
Steve shook his head gently at him. He leaned forward and spoke in a calm voice. "Listen Michael, we're not the police, I and my partner are here to help you but you have to open up to us."
"I'm not hiding anything, I don't know any of those men, I'm just a victim in this situation." Michael insisted.
"Okay..." Steve leaned back. "You said you were told that night about the deal to bring the girls, who else did you tell?"
"None, except the girls and my partner."
"The girls have also insisted that they told no one about their planned movement to Richard Brad's house."
"They could have told their friends that they were going out that night, there's no way these girls do not tell themselves these things." Micheal said in defense.
"Those girls never knew they were going to Richard Brad's house, or did you tell them?"
Michael was quiet.
"You see, if you told none of your allies that your client was Richard Brad. It would only mean that either you or someone in Richard Brad's camp released that information."

Cole proceeded forward boldly even as he saw Daysman and his men coming his direction. He ignored them and walked past in the direction where they were coming from. He stopped as soon as he noticed they had entered into the lift.
"Hey guys, I guess Daysman is on his way to the ground floor. He's heavily flanged with more men than he came with, keep an eye on him while I proceed further to get a clue of what happened in the meeting." he said in low tones into his mouthpiece before proceeding further.
He turned into a small hall and saw about ten armed looking men standing around. There was an office arrangement close to the black wall of the hall.
One of the men proceeded towards him on seeing him.
"Hey man!" Don't you know this place is out of bounds to other security officials?" the man accosted Cole.
"Oh! Sorry, I started working here this week and I just wanted to make an enquiry." Cole stopped to talk to the man.
"And what's that?"
"I noticed that there are some halls here," Cole began. "I have a brother who is a businessman and is looking for somewhere away from distractions to hold some meetings."
"Get out the hell out of here man!" the man slammed. "There are several halls in this complex and you chose to make enquires in one that is obviously private?"
"Oh! I had no idea it was private."
"Now you do, so get the bleep out of here."
"I'm sorry," Cole bowed his head slightly. He looked up again and took a brief look at all the men there, they were twelve all together.
He turned and walked out of the place.

Blood Lives Here - Episode 2

© Brian Ngoma

"You see what you have done Joe?" Ludo's mother asked her husband.

"How could I have known Zamiwe?" Joe touched his head. "It was going great, I don't know what happened."

"She told you she didn't want to go but with your arrogance, you had to make her go."

"Is it a crime to go out with my daugther Zamiwe?" Joe's eye brows bumped together in a scowl.

Zamiwe knew better not to irritate her husband. She knew he had the same rights as her when it came to Ludo. Despite their differences, Ludo was for the both of them. They were just both overprotective of her.

"I didn't it mean it that way Joe," Zamiwe answered thoughtful.

"I know she's sick and I care for her. Don't make me look like a bad parent please!" Joe sunked in his chair.

They all became quiet and lost in their thoughts. Ludo's condition had taken a toll on the both of them. Instead of bringing them even more closer, it pushed them apart. They all had different opinions on what treatment she needed and in the end, Zamiwe always had an upper hand because she had practiced Nursing. Joe being a regular businessman was not considered to be the best thinker when it came to Ludo.

"Mom," Ludo emerged from her bedroom.

Joe and Zamiwe both stood up.

"Hey sweetie," Zamiwe walked to her and held her hand while Joe made the seat.

Ludo sat down with a towel in her hand.

"I hurt myself with the fall, my head feels like its about to explode," Ludo complained bitterly.

"What happened?" Joe asked.

"Not now Joe," Zamiwe cut him.

"Why are you always fighting?" Ludo looked at the both of them.

They both stiffened at the question.

"I'm an adult, I know what's been happening with the both of you."

Zamiwe and Joe looked at each other.

"Its not something we cannot handle sweetheart, trust us we will sort it out," Joe answered holding Zamiwe's hand.

Zamiwe looked at him and felt her heart sunk. She loved him but where did they go wrong was the question she asked herself every morning she woke up. He was near but very far away. He no longer confided in her which made it more difficult to confide in him too.

"If you say so dad," Ludo said and went on. "I saw something strange tonight."

"What sweetie?" Joe asked.

"Where did you find me?"

"At the parking square."

"There was a man. He had a beautiful car. Chevrolet i think. I was interested in it and went to check it out. I think there was a girl in the car."

"Maybe it was his girlfriend or wife," Zamiwe said.

"She was tied," Ludo said as if not sure. "Yes she was tied I now remember."

"Some people who saw you fall said you were in a confrontation with a man, is it him?" Joe inquired.

Ludo thought for a while and answered, "Yes dad. He was scary. His eyes___" Ludo curled into a ball in the chair.

Joe noticed she was scared at the thought and changed the subject. Ludo kept thinking about the bearded man and how hideous he was.

Hunter drove into his compound while looking around ensuring no one had followed him. Thinking about what happened earlier made him stiffen a bit. He was not a kind of man to feel sorry for someone but thinking about how the girl fell and started convulsing made him somewhat uncomfortable. He had read about fits but never saw anyone before in action. He didn't have to feel sorry for her, his life was at stake and no one was innocent in his eyes. Every person who got closer to him was an enemy. He drove into his parking space and got out of the car. He stood for a while thinking. He stood still while trying to listen to any movements around his house but there were none. He opened the back door of his Chevrolet.

"Hmmmm, hmmm," the girl in the car mumbled.

"You brought this on yourself Hilary," Hunter said as he carried her on his shoulder.

She tried to shake herself off him but couldn't manage. Hunter was too strong. He had the body of baseball players. He was six feet tall. His arms were big they could hold three people at once. He had a very hideous face with a beard he well took care of.

He went to his backyard which had a one roomed building he called a Carnage. He opened it and dropped Hilary on the floor. She looked around and saw blood everywhere. She looked on the walls and there were stained knives, hooks and machetes hanging. She started crying and mumbling because her mouth was covered.

"Stop it!" He yelled at her.

She went quiet shaking.

"You betrayed me Hillary," he stared at her.

She nodded in disagreement.

"We had an arrangement and you backstabbed me," Hunter paced around.

"Did you think he could marry you?"

She cried.

"That man is a womanizer, everyone knows. But what did you do? You fell into his trap and exposed me. Do you know how long I have worked to bring those people down?"

Hilary kept crying.

"Women! Show them money and they will betray you in a blink of an eye!" Hunter growled. "I call this place a Carnage." He looked around. "I'm sure you have noticed the blood around."

Hilary's eyes burned with hatred and fear.

"This blood is for people like you who have betrayed me," Hunter reached for a machete on the wall. "I'm willing to forgive you if you tell me everything you have told them about me."

Hilary looked at him blankly.

He untied the rope around Hilary's head and removed the cotton he had stuffed in her mouth. She took a deep breath and looked at him defiantly.

"Now talk," he said.

"Hunter Hunter," she laughed. "Do you know you are an idiot?"

Hunter unrelentingly stared at her.

"Let me tell you one thing though. They are coming for you and they are out for blood. No matter what you do, you won't escape their wrath. You have messed with the wrong people my dear hunter."

"They messed with me first," Hunter said. "What did you tell them about me?" Hunter asked furiously.

"Kill me if you want but I will never tell you anything. The months have spent in their circles, I have realized that they are better people than you. Hunter you are an animal," she spat on him.

"Hilary you have left me with no choice."

"Do it you sorry ass of a man," Hilary dared Hunter.

Hunter breathed heavily looking at Hilary on the floor.

"Kill me now Hunter!" She shouted. "If you won't, I'm sure they will find me and kill me."

Hunter raised his machete and swung it in the air while Hilary screamed at him.

"Noooo," her voice faded in the night.

Ludo woke up feeling tired as usual. She had not written anything the previous night because of the episode she had. Her mother insisted that she should rest. She got out of bed and took a shower. She felt her stomach rumble. She was hungry. She went to the kitchen and found her mother and father having breakfast together.

"Wow, this is new," Ludo smiled pulling a chair.

"How did you sleep?" Joe asked her.

"Slept just fine dad," she answered.

"Have you taken your meds," her mother asked.

"Yes mom I did. This is yummy," she tried to reach for pancakes on her mothers plate.

"Bad manners Ludo," her mother looked at her.

"What? I'm hungry I could eat a cow," she winked.

"Nancy!" Ludo's mother called the maid.

Nancy quickly came to the dining, "Yes madam."

"Bring something for Ludo before she eats us alive."

"Ok madam."

"I cannot stop thinking about the bearded man," Ludo said after some silence.

Her parents looked at each other.

"Bearded man?" Zamiwe asked.

"Yes the man I saw last night," Ludo answered.

"Don't think about him, you will probably never meet him again," Joe said assured.

"I hope so," Ludo sipped on her tea.

Whilst eating, they heard a knock on the door. They all looked at each other wondering who it could be.

"Nancy!" Zamiwe called. "Go and check who is at the door."

After a while, Nancy came into the dining room with Mrs. Visashi.

"Madam!" Ludo exclaimed and got up spreading her hands.

They hugged while Joe and Zamiwe looked at them.

"What a surprise!" Ludo said.

Mrs. Visashi let go of her and said hi to Joe and Zamiwe.

"To what do we owe this visit Mrs. Visashi?" Joe asked.

"Enough with the formalities Joe, I'm not at school," she answered.

Joe laughed and went on, "Ok Kate."

"I have come to see my favorite former student."

"Well, let us excuse you both so that you catch up," Zamiwe said getting up looking at Joe.

Mrs visashi and Ludo sat in the dining room and talked for a while. She had come to check up on Ludo because time had passed ever since she saw her and being concerned about her, she made an effort.

"Tell me you are done with the book," Mrs. Visashi said curiously.

"I'm remaining with the last chapter," Ludo smiled. "I'm having a conflict on which characters to kill or keep."

"I bet you will figure it out," Mrs. Visashi smiled. "I have to see it. Do you mind?"

"Of course not, follow me," Ludo got up.

They went to Ludo's bedroom. Ludo got her laptop and showed Mrs. Visashi her work. Mrs. Visashi read for some minutes while Ludo looked at her.

"Well what do you think?" Ludo asked.

"This is good Ludo," Mrs. Visashi answered surprised. "Did you write this?"

"Yes," Ludo answered proudly.

"Wow, I'm short of words. Do you ever think of publishing?"

"My mother says I'm not ready."

"This is wasting talent. I know people who can be interested in this."

"Really?"

"Yes. This is too good to be stored in a laptop."

"I will contact one editor I know and see how it goes from there. I love this Ludo," Mrs. Visashi said honestly.

"Thank you madam but you will have to talk to mom before proceeding."

"Zamiwe won't have a problem with you publishing i know," Mrs. Visashi said and went on. "I have to go now," She said standing up. "You will let them know that I have gone."

"Ok madam I will."

"I saw a black car outside, is it your fathers?"

Ludo's heart pounded.

"Black car?"

"Yes."

Ludo hurriedly ran outside and opened the gate. She found the car outside their wall fence. Ludo walked to the car carefully trying to see who was in it. It was a black Chevrolet like the one she saw the previous night. Ludo went to the window and knocked. No one was opening.

"What do you want from me?" She screamed circling the car."I know you are in there. I told you I don't know anything, please leave me alone!"

"Hey young girl what is it?" A woman asked walking to Ludo.

"There's an hideous man in this car!" Ludo pointed at the car.

The woman quickly rushed to the car and opened it. Ludo was surprised.

"Why are you opening the door?" She asked.

"What do you mean why am i opening the door?" The woman asked surprised. "Its my car!"

"No its not."

"Yes it is. I live across the road. I parked here because i was seeing a friend over there," the woman pointed at the house next to Ludo's. "Young lady who are you?"

"You have hidden him, right?"

"Who?"

"The bearded man?"

"I don't know what you are talking about young girl."

Ludo's parents and Mrs. Visashi came running at the two. Joe grabbed Ludo who was refusing to be taken back inside.

"Dad let me go. I have to know what he wants from me!" Ludo screamed.

"I'm sorry madam," Zamiwe apologised to the lady.

"That girl needs help," the woman said.

"Yes we know," Zamiwe said.

"She's a psycho."

Zamiwe felt like her heart had been crashed hearing someone call her daughter a Psycho. She charged at the woman and grabbed her by the hair. She wanted to throw her on the ground when Mrs. Visashi stopped her.

"Stop it Zamiwe, it's not worth it," she held her tightly pulling her back.

"Didn't you hear? This woman called my daughter a Psycho. Who does that?" Zamiwe shouted.

"You are all crazy. Your whole family needs help!" The woman said getting into the car.

"Don't call my child a psycho," Zamiwe pointed at the woman. "Let me go," she shook herself from Mrs. Visashi and ran back inside.

Mrs. Visashi just nodded her head in disappointment.

The woman drove off.

Joe carried Ludo and took her to the bedroom while she kept screaming that the bearded man was in that car. Zamiwe got into the house and rushed to her medkit in the bedroom. She could hear Ludo screaming and shouting. She went to Ludo's bedroom and found Joe had restrained her on the bed.

"Do it," Joe looked at Zamiwe who stood on the door dropping tears.

"I'm sorry sweetie," Zamiwe said injecting Ludo to induce anesthesia.

Zamiwe left the bedroom crying.

"Dad," Ludo called Joe.

"Yes baby."

"Is mother upset with me?"

"No she's not she's just tired."

"Why did she ran away from me dad?"

Joe stiffened.

"Tell her I'm sorry. I'm just scared."

"Scared of what baby?"

"I can't feel my face dad," Ludo complained.

"It's the injection baby."

"I hate it dad," She blinked vigorously.

"Tell me, what are you scared of?"

"The bearded man. He was in that car. He's coming for me, I know it," Ludo said faintly while falling asleep.

Eyes wide open in the middle of the night, Ludo was horrified with whatever bad dream she was having. She tried to move her head but to no avail. She could only move her eyes. She could see most of the things in her room but couldn’t reach for them. She usually slept with her bedroom door open. She tried to scream but her voice failed her. The more she tried to move, the difficult it became. She felt a presence in the room and became even more afraid. Her eyes shifted to the door in hopes of seeing her mother coming to her aid. She saw an ominous shadow at the door peeping. In seconds, she felt a weight pressed against her body that she failed to breathe. Her body was paralyzed and there was no way to fight the paralysis.

"Ludo!" Her mother shouted entering the bedroom.

Ludo saw her mother sitting beside her but she still couldn't move. Her mother just sat there and watched her.

"Mother," Ludo whispered after relaxing.

"You are awake?" she reached for the pillow and moved Ludo's head.

"It was happening again mother," Ludo dropped a tear.

"I saw it baby," Ludo's mother said.

"Mother this not sleep paralysis," Ludo complained.

"It is Ludo."

"But i saw someone peeping at me from the door," Ludo said.

"How many times will we go through this Ludo?" Her mother asked. "Those are just hallucinations that come with sleep paralysis."

Ludo looked away.

"We have done countless research on this. I'm your doctor i know. Now go back to sleep."

"But mom."

"Ludo!" She stared at her.

"Do you think I'm cursed?"

"No Ludo."

"I hate this sleep paralysis. On top of that i also have."

"Shhhhhhh," Ludo's mother cut her.

"You are not cursed; you are just like everyone else. You are special."

"Where is dad?"

"Not yet back."

"But it's 2am?"

"Rest Ludo."

Ludo looked at her mother go as she covered herself with the blankets. It took her sometime to fall asleep. When she finally did, she slept like a baby.

Last day of school. Ludo thought to herself and sighed before opening the school gate. As she walked to the terraces, she thought about how much she endured from the bullying both from her fellow pupils and teachers. Her peers used to say she was strange especially the fascination she had with cars. She was glad high school was coming to an end. She had timed reaching the exam room slightly late so that she could find everyone settled in and concentrated on their examination papers. She reached her examination classroom and before she could knock, said a silent prayer.

"Come in!" Mrs. Visashi yelled from the inside.

Ludo breathed heavily. She looked at herself. She hated her uniform. She never liked the color yellow especially with it's combination with green. She composed herself and entered the classroom.

"Weirdo is here," a young boy whispered.

Everyone laughed.

Ludo looked at the boy and smacked her lips. He wasn't worth it, she thought to herself as she walked to her seat.

"Everybody be quiet! Mrs. Visashi shouted. "Exam in progress."

Ludo looked at Mrs. Visashi and admired her. She envied how she was always in control especially when handling pupils. Ludo wanted to be like her someday but with her condition which everyone knew about, she was made to believe she couldn't amount to anyone especially Mrs. Visashi.

"Late again?" Mrs. Visashi smiled walking to Ludo.

Ludo nodded.

"Better start writing now," she handed her the exam papers.

Ludo perused through the paper and knew she would ace it. It was her favorite subject, Literature. She was marveled by the nature and scope of literature. She also loved reading.

"Time up, pens down!" Mrs. Visashi shouted.

All the pupils dropped their pens on their tables without hesitation. They knew Mrs. Visashi all too well to act otherwise. After collecting all the papers, she had one final talk with them.

"This society you are going to will be all sorts of things to everyone. Some of you will find it easy and some difficult but all in all, it's all about attitude towards whatever comes your way," She paused and looked at them one by one. "This is where life as adults starts and you have to start making decisions like adults."

"But we are still young," Melanie whispered.

They all laughed.

Mrs. Visashi looked at Melanie who avoided her gaze.

"It's high time you all decide what your life will be especially in terms of careers." Mrs. Visashi Said.

"Madam, talking about careers, i would like to know what Ludo has in mind," Melanie looked at Ludo.

Ludo shook to her core. All eyes were on her and she hated attention.

"Tell us Ludo, what do you want to do after this?" A boy asked.

Knowing Ludo, Mrs. Visashi calmed her down by asking her in a polite way because the class wanted to know.

"I want to be a writer, “Ludo whispered.

"We didn't hear you!" Melanie shouted.

"Don't be shy Ludo," Mrs. Visashi smiled.

She took a deep breath and repeated herself, “I want to be a writer."

It was as if a wave of laughter had tickled everyone. They laughed so hard that Mrs. Visashi's voice couldn't be heard on top of the laughter.

"What can you write weirdo? You are mentally unstable as it is," Melanie laughed.

"She will write about cars," another pupil added.

In that moment of uncontrollable laughter, Ludo became uncomfortable. There and then, she had an aura and her eyes widened. She looked at Mrs. Visashi. Mrs. Visashi knew what was about to happen because she had been put in charge of Ludo at the school.

"Quiet!" She ran to Ludo.

Ludo's eyes were fixed on Mrs. Visashi. Her stomach felt strange but the usual strange. The feeling rose to her chest. Her face flushed and before Mrs. Visashi could reach her chair, Ludo fell on the floor hitting her head in the process. All the pupils stood up touching their mouths in shock. This wasn't new to them but this time, they all knew they had provoked it.

"She's having a seizure, stay back," Mrs. Visashi yelled.

Ludo's eyes had turned white and foam was coming out of her mouth. She was jerking and convulsing. Everybody stood back with the boys moving chairs and tables away from her. They all watched in silence and terror. Melanie was shaking and dropping tears.

"Everybody out!" Mrs. Visashi dismissed them.

They all left for the door looking back at Ludo laying on the floor unconsciously.

"Except you Melanie, stay!"

Ludo found herself on the floor feeling tired and weak. She looked up and saw Mrs. Visashi standing with Melanie.

"What happened?" She asked.

Mrs. Visashi knelt before her and asked, "How are you feeling?"

"My head hurts," Ludo answered. "It happened again right?"

Mrs. Visashi nodded.

"Melanie come here you help me stand her up."

"I don't think i can stand up madam," Ludo said softly.

"Take your time my dear."

"I'm sorry Ludo," Melanie apologized.

Ludo only looked at her.

"You can now leave Melanie," Mrs. Visashi said.

Ludo remained with Mrs. Visashi.

"Have you called my mother?"

"She's on her way."

"I'm sorry madam."

"Don't apologize sweetie. You don't have any control over your seizures."

"This time I had control," Ludo said.

Mrs. Visashi didn't understand what Ludo said.

"I was intimidated by them."

"You shouldn't let people intimidate you. They also have their fears but they don't show them. All those people who bully you only succeed because you let them. Your fear feeds them."

Ludo shrugged.

"You want to be a writer?"

"Yes madam."

"That's an awesome profession," Mrs. Visashi smiled.

"You don't think i can do it?" Ludo looked at Mrs. Visashi.

Mrs. Visashi shifted uneasily.

"I knew you don't believe in me."

Mrs. Visashi smiled and held Ludo's shoulder and sat beside her. "I believe in you but what's important is do you believe in yourself?"

"I do."

"That's what matters. As long as you believe in yourself, everyone's opinions don't matter."

"Do you think so?"

"I know so."

"I have written a lot of short stories which i haven't shown to anyone."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"I would love to read them."

"I'm excited about the new story i thought of."

"What is it about?"

"It's about the most notorious crime family in Zambia."

"That sounds interesting."

"I don't know where the idea came from but each and every day, it grows stronger," Ludo smiled.

Mrs. Visashi never saw Ludo smile frequently but she knew in that moment that writing made Ludo happy. She noticed how Ludo spoke of it.

"Where's my daughter!" Ludo's mother shouted from outside.

"Mom there," Ludo rolled her eyes.

Mrs. Visashi laughed.

Ludo's mother entered the classroom and found Ludo sited on the floor with her teacher.

"Ludo baby how are you?" She asked slowly running to her.

"I'm fine mother."

"Let's go home now," she lifted her up. "Thank you Mrs. Visashi," she looked at her gratefully.

"It's alright Zamiwe," Mrs. Visashi said. "Ludo," she called her.

Ludo looked back.

"I would love to read the story you are working on some day," Mrs. Visashi smiled.

Ludo and her mother walked out of the classroom and went to the car which was parked outside the wall fence. Leaving the school, Ludo knew this was the last time of being there. She had even planned on not coming to get her results. She had it all planned out, her mother would come to get the results.

"I think the medicines are not working," Ludo's mother said after settling in the car.

"You are my doctor," Ludo fastened her seat belt.

"I will have to visit the hospital after dropping you home."

"Is dad back?"

Ludo's mother flinched.

"Don't answer I know," Ludo leaned her head against the window.

"We still love each other. It's just circumstances."

Ludo didn't look at her mother.

They got home and both went to their bedrooms. Ludo got her seizure journal. She opened it and sighed.

"Here we go again," she said.

After writing in the seizure journal, She thought about her idea of the story and grabbed her MacBook pro and before she could start, her mind went blank.

"Stuck again?" Her mother asked standing at the door.

"I write better when you are around," Ludo said.

"I know but i have to rush to the hospital. Your seizures are worrying me. I'm suspecting your condition is getting worse."

"It's always been worse mother."

Ludo's mother left her in the bedroom. Ludo loved her mother wholeheartedly. Not only was she a mother to her but also a friend whom she could confide in. She even loved her more because ideas would flow whenever her mother was around. The story she was working on was difficult to write without her mother's presence.

Ludo fell asleep on her bed and was awoken by her father's voice. She opened her eyes and he was standing in front of her.

"How are you baby?" He asked.

"I'm fine dad," she yawned.

"I heard you had another seizure."

"Yes but it wasn't that serious."

"All seizures are serious baby. Where is your mother?"

"She has gone to the hospital."

"Okay," he looked at Ludo's laptop. "How is our story coming up?"

"It's difficult to write without mom," Ludo frowned.

He laughed.

"I'm serious dad."

"Well, she will be back. I have bought you something. It's in the car outside."

Ludo ran to the car while her father followed her. She opened the car and found a medium sized box in the front passengers seat. She looked at her father.

"Open it!" He told her.

Ludo opened it and found a brand new laptop in it.

Surprised, Ludo looked at her father once more.

"I know you have another one but that is old," he grinned. "This is for after high school. Congratulations on completing my baby."

"Thanks dad."

"I'm leaving now; I have work to do."

"But you just got here?"

"I'm coming back in the evenings."

"That's what you always say," Ludo said sadly. "And I'm alone."

"Isn't the maid around?" He looked at her and went on. "I'm coming I Promise," he went to his car and drove out of the compound.

Ludo waited for her mother. She came in the evenings when Ludo was having supper. After both eating, they went into the study room and Ludo started typing. In most cases, she dosed off after typing and woke up the following morning amazed at her work.

The months that followed, Ludo couldn't stop writing her story. The more she wrote, the deeper she went into the world she created. She felt like a god because the characters would bend to her will. It was only this time that she felt she had control of something.

"Don't you think you have to start working on other things?" Ludo's father asked during a dinner date they had set up.

"What?" Ludo asked back.

"It's been a year and half ever since you completed school and all you do is work on that book," he sighed. "Writing is a difficult career to venture in."

"I thought you supported me, dad."

"Don't get me wrong I do but I'm worried. You are always indoors. You are growing up and you need to get out there, enjoy the world."

"I'm enjoying my world."

"What is your book all about?"

"Crime fiction."

"Am I supposed to know about that?"

"Ah dad. Where do I even start from?"

Her father looked at her.

"Ok just know that it's about the most notorious family in Zambia."

"Notorious?"

"Yes. The family is the most feared in the country. No one crosses their path. Whoever does, gets killed. On top of that, they have connections everywhere. The police cannot touch them. No one touches them."

"Hmm is that real life?"

"Come on dad, I told you it's crime Fiction."

"Okay. Let me order something we eat."

Ludo looked around the eatery and was upset that her father had to drag her to come. She was against the idea but he insisted. While sited, a car parked just some meters from her. It was a black tinted Chevrolet. From a distance, she couldn't see who was driving because it was getting dark. She was curious because cars fancied her. She played with her phone while peeping at the car. Finally, a very tall bearded gentleman with shades came out of the car. He looked around and closed the door behind him. Ludo didn't care about the man but the car. She watched him enter the eatery.

"Why wearing sunglasses when it's getting dark?" Ludo asked herself and went to the car to take a look.

She was fascinated with the beauty of the car. Lost in the attraction of the car, she didn't hear the thuds from the window. The thuds were getting louder. Ludo heard the sounds and decided to take a look. The windows were tinted and she couldn't get a clear view. Curious, she wanted to walk to the front of the car and take a look through the windshield because it was slightly visible.

"Excuse me!" A husky voice said.

Ludo quickly turned around startled and saw the bearded man.

"What are you doing?" The bearded man asked.

"Nothing," Ludo tried to walk away.

He blocked her.

"I will ask you one more time, what are you doing?"

"I said nothing," Ludo raised her voice and tried to run and caught a glimpse of what was inside the Chevrolet. She saw a girl tied and was obviously screaming for help.

The bearded man held her wrist and took off his shades. Ludo couldn't believe the eyes she was met with. The eyes were dark red that the iris was not visible.

"Are you one of them?" The bearded man looked around.

"One of who?"

"Don't play around kid," he said agitated. "I saw you taking photos of my car."

"No I wasn't. Please let me go."

The bearded man's facial expression turned to that of an angry bull. Ludo couldn't take it anymore, her knees went numb and she felt a strong sensation in her head. She looked at where her father had sat and he wasn't back, she knew she was having an episode.

"Please let me...."

She fell on the ground.

The bearded man looked at her expressionless. He stepped backwards while she agitated violently on the ground. He put his shades back on, looked around, got into his car and drove off.

BLOOD LIVES HERE

She is so scared of life herself, people call her a weirdo, she’s sick; she’s epileptic, she doesn’t even have a friend as everybody seem to be against her.
The only place she finds solace is in a story she writes, she loves it because that is where she finds control, the only thing that obeys her command anytime, any day.

Then out of the blues, her story begins to haunt her. She could be hallucinating, but it seemed so real.
The worst part is that every of the characters in her story want her to themselves, they are powerful, mysterious, wealthy, strong, connected and blood thirsty.

Locking in the darkness was her fears, and out of it came the most hideous of all her characters looking her straight in the eye he said, ”welcome to our world, BLOOD LIVES HERE!”

You don’t wanna miss this action/crime thriller… Silence, Suspense, Love, Guilt, Betrayal, BLOOD…..

Stalked By A Mafia - Episode 15

A story by Tisa Phiri

Sila could not sleep. she lay on Scar`s bed, hoping all turned out well. she had no idea what was going on. But one thing was clear, Scar was fighting to get her son back.

she heard a knock on the door. "come in" she answered. Daka, the gate man came in with a cup of coffee.

"The Boss told me to bring you this " he said handing Sila the cup.

"Thank you" she said honestly.

"i cant sleep" she murmered as she sipped on the coffee.

"You must be special to my Boss." Daka told her instead.

"i have never seen any woman in this house before, but you have come here a second time."

Sila smilled..

"what can i say. i barely know your boss."

"Hes a tough guy yes" Daka mentioned,

"but he has a big heart too. Am just a gate man mam but he doesnt treat me like shit. He gives me more than am supposed to get and always helps me when in need. You must see how he takes care of his men. No wonder they all are loyal and committed to him." The man let a laugh.

Sila smilled,

"well thats good of him for sure."

"Yeah" Daka nodded before leaving the room.

" your maid is safe" he said before closing the door.

"Thank you" Sila raised her hand at him watching him as he closed back the door.

she sat quitely as she sipped on her coffee. wondering how Scar had got himself in the gang of thieves and murderers.

"Does he even have family?" She asked herself. She remembered hours past the time he told her he loved her and shook her head. deep down her heart felt safe and good around him but how was she going to fall in love with a man who had a very dark past? The man who destroyed her future and her good relationship with her family...?

she was deep in thoughts when she heard the front door bang. Putting her cup down she went out to see what was going on. she saw Jo hold another guy who had blood all over his shirt.

"My God! what happened to him? " she asked running to help Jo put him down.

"He was shot" Jo told her.

Sila looked at his shoulder,

"this is serious you need to get him to the doctor." She suggested.

"No ..." Scar answered as he entered the house.

Sila looked at his direction and ran to her son who followed behind him.

"Isaac!" she screamed hugging her boy tightly.

"Oh my God you are alive" she smiled tears in her eyes

"I was so scared I would lose you. Are you Okey?" She checked him turning him around.

The boy cried,

"mommy i was so scared there were guns and sounds and blood. "

"Its okey baby" she rubbed him on the back.

"its ok. You are safe now. Am here and nothing is gonna happen to you." She assured him as she embraced him close.

"Thank you so much Aaron" she looked at Scar.

"thank you for bringing him back."

"Its fine Sila just help my guy there if you can he`s bleeding badly.." Scar responded.

"Ok" Sila stood,

"call maria to take care of Zac"

"Yeah sure" Scar agreed as she went back to Ken. she tried all she had learnt from her nursing school and what she saw from the doctors.

" I need to get the bullet out. Thankfully it hasn't gone so deep. Get me some sharp knife or something i can use and a bottle of wine." She instructed.

"hurry !" Scar added as Jo and the other guy went to search for what she requested.

After minutes of working on him she manged to pull out the bullet and stopped the bleeding. she sterilized the wound and bandaged it.

"He needs some antibiotics and pain killers." She looked at Scar.

"we have something in the house." he responded.

" good" she looked him,

" give him and get him to rest. I insist he sees a doctor though."

Ken smilled at her

"i will be fine mam, thank you. "

Sila looked at him, he was the same guy who hit her back at the forest. she felt for him and kept what she wanted to tell him to herself.

"well thank God you didnt kill me the other day" she smiled back at him as she stood up.

she washed her hands and went to see Zac.

"hey son!" she called out as she sat next to him, Maria had bathed him and he lay down in the bed.

" how are you feeling now my strong man ?" she asked patting his hair.

"Better mom, uncle Aaron came to rescue me. He is so strong mom like superman, the other guy was so terrible and the room they put me in had a very bad smell. the men where smoking and talking like killers from that scary movie." Then boy ranted holding his mothers hand.

Sila smilled..

"well thank God he got you back safely. you are safe now."

Zac looked in the direction of the door, Scar stood there looking at them,

"Thank you Uncle!" he shouted raising his hand at Scar. Sila turned to look back and saw Scar smilling.

"You are a strong boy" he told Zac, "you did great. you will grow up to be stronger than me belive that" he said patting Zac`s legs on top of the sheets and left the room.

Sila kissed her son before standing up too

" am coming Zac " she told her son, "get some rest now okey. we will go back home tomorrow."

She followed Scar to his room. He stood by the window looking out as she entered. she cleared her throat.

"can i come in? "

"yeah" Scar told her.

"it was tough out there" he starte

"I was so scared, i thought i might loose Zac or any of my boys. I almost lost it. I couldn't kill that lunatic in front of my boy. I had to let him go. I have never been so scared in my life before. I had to save him and am glad it went quite well. I couldn't have survived the pain of losing my only son." he added sadly still looking out the window.

" You did well" Sila told him.

" look, i dont know what went down back there but i really appreciate what you have done for me and my son. You saved his life who knows what could have happened out there. "

Scar kept looking out the window, "my life is a mess Sila. everyone thinks am the invisible guy. like am so strong and the master mind, the boys look up to me and wants me to direct them, the only thing they dont understand is that i too have my fears. I hardly sleep at night, i cant even see my mother openly for fear someone might kill her. I live in shadows and it hurts and is so lonely sometimes. "

Sila looked at him, he wasn`t the mafia she had hated a few hours ago. He was just a vulnerable man who looked powerless and in pain. The pain inside his heart, she felt for him. Truly she couldn't understand his pain or what made him what he was but that moment she felt he needed her. He was opening up to her and she could not help notice how sad and lonely he was. His eyes longed for her comfort.

"I cant understand you Aaron" she stood behind his back, he was still facing outside the window.

"but somehow i know you are a strong person with a big heart too. Those people you work with put their lives on the line for you, you know why?" She asked

He turned to look at her.

"because of what you have in here, " she held his chest.

"Your heart is good Aaron though they wont tell you, it is what leads them to you and its what has kept you alive till now, not your strength or your brains. God uses hearts not the outside appearance to change people Aaron. It's the heart that defines who you truly are. "

He looked at her innocent face, smilling, he held her face.

"Those are the most beautiful words someone has ever told me, thank you Sila. you are so precious and innocent and am just a common thief." he said sadly.

"Well we all have our dark side, no man is perfect. " she shrugged.

" I never thought i would say this. but am sorry, am so sorry for ruining your life Sila, i was drunk that day and i now regret ever raping you and getting you pregnant at a tender age. Am sure it hasn`t been easy raising Isaac alone. Am truly sorry for everything, will you ever forgive me? " he asked raising her chin.

Sila nodded.

"its all in the past now, am just happy my son is safe and you had a major role in keeping him safe. No matter the circumstances surrounding his birth, I love my son he's the best thing that has happened to me" she smiled honestly and stepped back.

Before she could turn back and leave, Scar moved closer to her, "and thank you for keeping the pregnance. Zac is the only good thing i feel i have brought to this world too." He smiled.

He reached out and kissed her without warning, she hesitated for seconds and responded back, holding his neck as she kissed him back. Scar tightened his hold on her getting his tongue deeper into her mouth.

she mourned with pleasure as he caressed her lifting her gown up her thighs. Sila was taken by passion as he gently rubbed his hand in her thighs. He paused and looked at her calm face as she eyed him with passion and desire.

" are you sure?" he asked breathing heavily.

"Sure of what? " she smiled..

"making love to a Mafia? " she teased gently rubbing his groins.

"uuuuhh!" he let a scream of pleasure, took off his clothes as he led her to the bed taking his time caressing her and kissing her. Every part of her driving him crazy. He couldnt believe a delicate and gentle body was in his hands.

She smiled as she opened her eyes to look at him.

" What is wrong? " She asked breathing softly as she rubbed her hands on his back and kept her face to his.

"You are perfect" he smiled,

"its almost like a dream you are right here so close to me. If it is a dream i never want to wake up" he said chuckling and getting back to her getting himself in her as he felt the strong passions and intense pleasures rushing through every joint of his body.

Minutes later, he sat up panting and looking at her perfect form in his arms

"My whole life i have never felt so much pleasure and happiness" he told her honestly. She smilled her eyes half closed.

"and i never anticipated making love to a thief would be so mind blowing" she teased him with a laugh.

Scar smilled widely,

"well, thieves are human beings too you know." he added as he slid his hand on her naked back.

" I wish i met you under different circumstances Sila, honestly" he said.

"I wish i was a good man with an honest life and all this past was not there. "

She sat up and looked at him.

"you have so much sadiness Aaron, i can feel it. why dont you leave this life of yours..? It's not too late you know."

"I dont know woman, this is who i am and you dont just walk away from this life its not that simple. Its either you die with a bullet in your head or you are jailed for life. That`s the reward of what i do. Imade some dangerous decisions and now I feel caged." She scoffed sadly.

she looked at his eyes and could see through his pain.

"Come here" she told him opening her arms. He moved to her and she held him tight in her arms

"you can do it if you choose to." she whispered kissing his neck.

He mourned in passionately as he scooped her getting her on top of himself.

" show me the way then." he giggled and held her tight.

"I think you'd have to switch positions," Samantha suggested, referring to Henry and Cole.

"Yeah," Cole agreed and immediately began to take off the seatbelt. "We'd all keep our communication on with you."

"Yes please, be careful." Henry replied. He wished he could go in to see things for himself but like Dave had said, he could be easily recognized. "But we still do not have a clear direction, you all would get into trouble if you just keep sneaking around."

"Boss, have you been in this complex before?"

"Yes, once," Henry answered. "For a meeting, it's a very big place with facilities for different uses. I remember we used one of the halls."

"So, how do we locate Daysman in this facility?" Dave questioned rhetorically.

"Are we planning to abduct him?" Samantha questioned.

"We only want to find out what he's here for, those he came to see and probably what their plan is." Henry replied. He looked at Cole and noticed Cole's attention was far away from them. "Cole!" He called.

"Boss," Cole called back. He had been totally engrossed with the phone in his hand. "I just sent an application to everyone's device," Cole said and turned to Henry. "We have Daysman's number here."

"Can we track his location?"

"No, it's private but we can track it in another way." Cole replied. "I'll give you his number, you'd create a connection to it."

"Okay, so the application you sent to the devices would track the destination of the connection?" Henry asked.

"Yes," Cole affirmed.

"That's brilliant!"

Cole looked at their two other partners an realized only he and Henry understood what they were talking about.

"Guys, when we get to the second floor of the building. The app you just installed on your device would direct us to the exact location of Daysman's phone. If the phone is with him, that means it's lead us to his location."

Inside the Magic Complex

Hutton and Kahn is sitting behind a long table, Bernard was sitting at the left side of the table. Daysman stood directly opposite Kahn and another man stood beside Daysman.

"The text says I received an invitation letter from the FOX Agency, they just left my office." Daysman said after reading a text on his phone. He returned the phone into his pocket.

Hutton banged his fist on the table and sprang up to his feet furiously. "I do not believe Brad was killed by the FOX, there's an external force somewhere."

"Could someone who is part of us be playing a fast one on us?" Kahn suggested.

Hutton flashed a look at his face. "We have to be sure of what it is, we have to take a quick move."

"What about finding out if someone in the FOX is doing more than he's supposed to do?" Kahn suggested, he turned his gaze slowly from Hutton to the man standing beside Daysman.

"Yes, I think that would be the right thing to do." The man standing near Daysman put in with a not-too-confident tone.

Hutton also glanced at the man's face before rushing hurriedly to his seat again. He closed his eyes for a second to ponder on the situation. He had some doubts that his fear of Agent Carl returning from the dead may have come to pass but he decided not to voice it out for the fear of being wrong and creating unnecessary tension.

His eyes widened as a thought came to his mind.

"There are two major possibilities here," he cleared his throat and began to explain. "Brad was taken and killed, we know he was taken from his house due to his carelessness but we cannot just dismiss it at that. For anyone to have known how to get Brad easily, it has to be someone very close to him."

He stopped and looked up. He saw that all eyes were on him and they were listening keenly to his words.

"Henson's case is slightly different, we do not know yet if he disappeared or if he was taken..."

The sound of a ringing phone interrupted Hutton. He stopped talking as all eyes fell on Daysman who quickly took out his phone and silenced it. He apologized to the men and silenced his phone before returning to his pocket.

"Until Henson is found, we cannot conclude he was also taken, we can say he disappeared after carrying out Brad's murder." Hutton continued. "The first major possibility is that Henson has joined an enemy group, the second possibility is that this attack is from an external group like the FOX. If the second possibility is correct, then it means that you are truly the next in line for them."

Hutton stopped and fixed his gaze on Daysman's face.

"Me?" Daysman squinted at him.

"Yes," Hutton replied confidently. "Did Henson or Brad tell anybody about being invited by the FOX?"

"I do not think so, " Kahn replied.

Hutton maintained a thoughtful silence for a while. "Right now, we'll have to watch you for now." Henry said to Daysman and then turned to Kahn. "I suggest we instruct some of our men to do the monitoring."

"I'll take charge of that," Bernard joined in for the first time in the conversation.

"Okay, you got that Bernard." Kahn approved. "Until we are sure of what's wrong, we would suspend our activities."

20 Minutes Later

Outside Magic Complex

"We've got the location and I'm heading towards the place." Henry heard Cole say to him through the earpiece.

"You don't need to get to the exact place, there'll be resistance and you might get into trouble." Henry spoke into the mouthpiece. "You have a video bug with you, all you need to do is install the bug at the entrance so that we can identify everyone else that comes out or go in."

"Okay boss," Cole replied.

"Good!" Henry commended. He was about to switch the connection to Samantha to talk to her when he saw something that caught his attention.

His eyes widened in great surprise as he saw his one time confidant and friend walking towards a car in the garage of the complex.

He held his breath for a while as he decided on what to do. He finally switched the button to the center of the control board, switching the connection to general where all of the people connected with the communicator could hear him at once.

"Hey guys! I'm leaving the car now, I just saw Paul Edwards stepping out of the complex and I have to follow him. Listen to Cole for instructions henceforth."

Industrial Road, Bexford

"Here we are," Henry announced as his eyes caught the large sign post in front of the large Suntan Farm facility. He was sitting at the passenger's side of the car while Cole was driving, Dave and Samantha were at the backseat.

They all looked out through the window to check the large sign post. The Suntan Farm facility was located on a large area of land of several acres. At the center of the large area of land was situated a large high rise building which consisted of several offices and temporary store rooms for the farm products. Suntan Farms did not only deal with crop production but also livestocks and the sales of farm tools, machineries and supplements.

"I don't think this would be difficult for us," Henry said as they drove on. He took out his communication device and fixed it on his shirt. "Remember, you'll all take your positions while I go for Daysman, and we all keep our communication devices on."

Two minutes later, Cole found a good space and pulled over. The rest of the men fixed the devices on their bodies before stepping out of the car.

They watched Henry cross to the other side of the road first and began to walk back to the main gate of the Suntan Farms. Samantha put a chewing gum into her new mouth and her sunshades to cover her eyes. She located a groceries store behind her and walked into it.

Dave also put on his sunshades and began to walk back towards the Suntan Farms without crossing like Henry. Cole remained in the car and wound up all the window glasses. He took out a tablet device and placed it on his laps.

FOX HEADQUARTERS

"I think there are more answers with Henson, we need to find him." Evelyn said in a thoughtful tone to the other men in the room with her. She, Agents Steve and Rhoda were standing around a table with several papers and pictures on it and a laptop. Agent Evelyn was at the left short side of the table while Rhoda was at the right. Steve, their team leader was at the center of the long side. Another agent was sitting at the left front corner of the room, he had a laptop on the table in front of him and an earphone plugged into his ears connected from the laptop.

"I've been baffled since we discovered a connection between Brad and Henson, I wonder how possible it is for Brad to have been a part of the invisible terrorists." Steve put in. He had in his front some pictures of Henson and Brad close together and was arranging them side by side. The pictures had been

"It's a shame we only found out after his death," Evelyn put in.

"Here sir," Agent Rhoda called the attention of Steve to something in one of the documents she was going through. She picked two other papers and walked to his side. "Some of the dates on this documents corroborates the pictures."

Steve glanced at her face immediately and turned to see the paper she was showing to him. The first thing he noticed was the date at the top, he had also seen the date on one of the pictures. He looked to the table to find the picture but Rhoda already located it and pulled it out.

"This picture was taken a day before this explosion," Rhoda said to him as they put the pictures and document side by side. "This screenshot was taken from CCTV records at Benuit International Airport, they arrived from different flights that morning, Brad flew into Benuit from Bexford while Henson flew in from Husan. Henson arrived thirty minutes before Brad but waited until Brad's arrival and they left in the same car."

Rhoda stopped and quickly walked to the side of the table she stood before, she picked out some pictures from under a file and returned to Steve. She handed two of the new pictures to Steve.

One of the pictures showed Henson stepping out of the car while the other showed him getting into another vehicle.

"Henson here stepped out of the Brad's vehicle and got into another waiting for him at the GRA roundabout, the drive from the airport took fifteen minutes. Whatever they discussed in that fifteen minutes is unknown and after that Henson was found..." Rhoda paused as she began to search through the new pictures in her hand. She pulled out three photos. "These screenshots were taken from the footages around five pm that day. Henson drove in alone in his car, he stayed in this timber factory for one hour and in that one hour, five other cars drove in during his stay there...."

"And five explosions took place in Benuit the next day," Steve caught in.

"Yes," Rhoda muttered in reply.

"But we need to connect it properly," Steve said in a calm voice. He then turned his gaze to the man working with the computer system at the corner, "Take these details to Dan and tell him to trace all five cars that visited, those in the cars and where they drove to the place from."

Rhoda took her time to select all the pictures and documents before she moved on to Daniel. Evelyn moved closer to Steve immediately Rhoda left.

"Sir, I think I know who we are supposed to look for now." She said, turning the laptop screen to Steve.

"Who is this?" Steve asked, squinting at the picture of the man seen on the screen.

"His name is Ernest Daysman, Brad made contact with him a couple of times before his abduction, Henson also did before his disappearance."

"Let's find out who he is," Steve said as he pulled a chair closer.

___

Suntan Farms

"How do I get to your admin area?" Henry asked one of the security men after exchanging pleasantries.

"Go in through the main entrance, talk to the receptionist and explain what you've come for, you'd be directed to the right place." The man replied Henry.

"Thank you," Henry said and proceeded towards the building. He was halfway already when he spotted a group of men at the garage afar off. He stopped and stepped aside as he pulled out his phone. He quickly opened the gallery of pictures, he opened the download folder and clicked on the first picture. He zoomed it to see the face properly, then he looked again towards the garage. There was Daysman and some other men, and they seemed to be on their way out.

Daysman had a very unique stature which helped Henry recognize him even from afar. He was a short and slender man, one could mistake him for a ten year old kid if spotted from afar. He had a baby face even though he was in his mid fifties. The hair on his round head was always very neatly shaven, he had just little beards under his chin, apart from that his face was smooth like that of a new born baby. Bottled inside the small body was a very dangerous man surrounded by other dangerous people but to the public, he was only known as director of operations in Suntan Farms..

"Hey Cole, get the other guys immediately, Daysman is on his way out with some other men. We have to follow. " Henry said into his communication device as he watched all the other men begin to enter into the two cars after Daysman had gotten in first.

To avoid suspicion of his movement, he proceeded into the main building quickly and proceeded back out after asking the receptionist if the organization allows for internship.

The two vehicles he saw the men get into were already close to the gate when he got back to the entrance. Daysman was in the front car sitting at the owners side while his security officer and the driver sat behind, five other men were in the second car.

"Cole, where are you?" He said into his mouthpiece as he took the stairs down the corridor.

"We're close there, Dave is with me already and I'm about to pick Samantha."

"Okay, catch me at the gate as soon you can."

10 minutes Later.

"Got them now!" Henry exclaimed. He was now sitting at the backseat of the car with Samantha beside him. Dave and Cole were sitting in front. Henry had a tablet device in his hands and he was trying to locate Daysman's vehicle as it was already out of sight before Cole could get to Henry with the car. "You have to take the next turn," Henry said to Cole

__

Meanwhile...

Agent Steve and Agent Evelyn had just gotten to the street where Suntan Farms was located, at the same time with the uniformed FOX officials. They parked some distance away and watched as the uniformed men made their way into the place in their vehicle to officially invite Daysman for questioning.

Five minutes later, Steve got a call from one of the man who had gone in, telling him Daysman had just left the place and that the letter of invitation was dropped for him.

"We'd have to wait for Daysman to get the invitation," Steve said to Evelyn after some minutes of thoughtfulness.

"I believe he would get it in nothing less than six hours, and he's given an ultimatum of twenty four hours to show up after receiving the message. Would we just watch and wait for him to respond?" Evelyn asked.

"No, we'd keep tabs on him and while we do that, we'd also do some more serious digging. We need to find out if it was really a third party that murdered Brad, or if something went wrong with them and Henson had to murder his associate." Steve replied her.

"I believe strongly there is a third party," Evelyn put in. "From our interrogation, all of the men said Henson did not hand the devices to them because he was waiting for orders from Brad."

___

Magic Complex Bethanna

"We have to go in and find out what's happening." Henry said after ten minutes of them staying inside the car at the garage without making any move.

They had trailed Daysman's vehicle to the place. Daysman had gone into the facility for a reason unknown to them while the men he came with were outside the facility waiting for him, only his personal security officer went in with him.

Dave looked around from where he was again. He flashed a look at Henry behind.

"Are you sure you can go in with us? What if someone recognizes you?" Dave asked.

"I was thinking about that too," Cole put in.

Stalked By A Mafia - Episode 14

A story by Tisa Phiri

Chile drove away to the main town. He had placed Zac in makululu shanty compound a place he knew Scar would never guess or dare to look for th boy.

He dilalled one of his boys as he held on to the steeering

" i want you to watch the boy closely the deal didnt go as planned, the idiot outsmart me. am now going for the big fish. Lets see if he wont bend for that bitch of his, let me just get Fred." He added.

"okey boss" the guy on the other end of line responded. unbeknownst to Chile, Scar and Jo were listening in on his conversation. Jo had placed a tracker and recorder on his car before the firing started.

"That fool is going for Sila! " Scar yelled.

"we have to get to her before he does, step on it now...!"

Jo accelerated as they went to Sila`s place, swaying around other cars on the road with great sped.

They were stopped by the police at the road block.

"I have no time for these cops Jo. lets go!" he shouted at Jo.

Screeching, as the car started, Jo sped off leaving the police with their jaws open.

"get the number plate for that car" one of them said,

"we must get that man." He shouted to the friend. Scar and Jo were moving at a great speed then.

They drove in Sila`s yard raising dust as they halted, Scar who come out of the car as soon as the car stopped, went direct to Sila`s bedroom.

she was laying on her bed wearing her night gown.

"what are you doing here?" she sat up with a start.

"where is my son..?"

"we have to go now! Sila" he ordered

" i will explain later."

"what?" she asked.

"am not going anywhere till you tell me whats going on here where is Isaac?" She asked panicking.

"please Sila i dont have enough time. we have to leave now Chile is coming for you. You have to trust me okey..? " he rushed her and she could see he was serious .

Sila called Maria who was still watching TV and they went to Scar`s car trotting. she was still wearing her night gown as they drove away.

"How far is he from here?" Scar asked Jo..

"They will appear any second they just joined in this street on the other side." Jo indicated.

"Step on it then!" Scar commanded.

Chiles vehicle entered Sila`s yard immediately they had left.

"Get her! " he orderd his men.

the two guys went into the house searching, they found it empty. They ran back to the car..

" It's empty Boss shes gone" they informed their boss.

"Dammit! that idiot got to her first lets go!" he shouted agitated.

Scar looked at Sila as they listened to the speakers.

"see i told you. luckily we got there on time." He looked at Sila.

Sila stayed quite as they drove to Scar`s house. she prayed in her Heart." God keep my son safe please and let this night mare end"

she didnt realise the house they drove in was the same one she was held the previous day until they were taken inside.

"Make sure you listen in and check where he is going and call the other guys. Plan B is in action." Scar told Jo before leaving the car.

He told the worker to take maria to the room he had kept Sila the other day. He then led Sila to his own room.

Sila sat down on the couch besides the bed.

"Am scared Aaron, is my son okey?' she cried.

"where is my son? is he even alive?" She asked

Scar knelt before her.

"dont cry" he whispered.

"i will do all i can to bring him back even if it costs my life and yes he's alive i talked to him earlier. Chile is still keeping him alive for now"

He touched Sila`s cheek and wiped the tears.

"stay calm and trust me okey ?" he asked standing up and before walking away..

"Aaron! ." Sila called him before he opened the door.

"Yes?" he stopped..

"Thank you" she said.

"Thank you for saving my life and for trying to find my son."

Scar smilled.

" sure" he nodded as he left the room.

Sila walked around the room and tried to open the laptop on the table. It requested a password so she closed it back. she stood by the window as she watched outside.

Scar`s room was direct to the gate. she saw Scar talk on his phone and later on indicated something to the guard before entering the car as it drove out.

"where is he now? " Scar asked Jo as they moved

"hes headed to the shanty." he informed him looking at the tracker.

"Okey lets get to him. And the boys ?" he asked.

"they are coming" Jo nodded..

Scar looked back and saw two vehicles behind them.

"good." he said as he watched the tracker.

"step on it we cant loose him in the shanty. "

They drove deep in the compound. It was passed 22 hours but the compound was noisy with loud music from the tarvens and shouting and singing by drunk guys walking around. others stood in groups smoking dagga.

They noticed Chile`s car stopping. After seeing the car few meters away from them he ordered Jo to stop.

Scar indicated to the other guys...

"we move on feet from here" he told them.

As they reached the where Chile had parked his car. He whispered something to one of the boys.

They walked in silence to the small house ahead of them. He and other guys went to the front.

Scar walked silently to the small window and peeped in. Chile was talking to 6 guys as they all sat.

He looked around the room and saw Zac crumbled in the corner on a small mattress. He was shivering Scar could see the boy was afraid.

Scar stepped back and told his guys ,

"There are six men armed. the boy is inside." He indicated some men to surround the house and he went to the front with 3 others.

Chile`s men were startled as the door banged. One of Scar`s men had thrown a stone on the door.

They all rushed out firing their guns as Scar`s crew fired back.

he quickly ran inside holding out his gun and came face to face with Chile who was holding a gun pointed at Zac`s head.

"drop it or i will shoot him!" Chile scolded as Scar pointed a gun at him.

"let him go you coward! " Scar shouted.

" you are not getting out of this you idiot just give me the boy and we call it a night."

Chile let out a laugh.

"i should have killed you when i had a chance you stupid boy " he shouted back

"Well too late for that Chile" Scar responded firmly holding the gun.

"I said drop the gun boy before i blow his head off!" Chile screamed as he fired a shoot in the roof.

Scar quickly threw the gun down and raised his hands. He knew Chile was cornered at he would not kill the boy as he was his cover yo walk out safely.

Someone from outside fired a shoot at the door and Chile turned to look in the direction. Quickly, Scar lashed at him and bamped away the gun away. The two men rolled down as they fought hand to hand.

Zac who was pushed to the wall sat down and shook even more in fear.

Scar hit Chile hard on his groins and as he bent down holding himself in pain, Scar grabbed the boy and ran out. He had to save the boy and take him away from harm's way, he could not get himself to let the boy watch him kill a person.

The fight was tense outside as other boys from Chile`s group had emmerged outnumbering Scar`s men.

He dodged as his guys covered him with more gun shoots. He joined his his crew members still holding Zac.

" lets go now! " he ordered as they ran back to their cars.

They all ran got in an instant speeding away.

"follow them! " Chile shouted getting in his car too. As the car engine started and the driver pressed the accelerator, the tires screeched and then the car body landed back down, pushing them all backwards in their seats.

Chile and his men came out to check what happened. The back tires were pulled out behind, there was a chain tied to the car and the tree near by.

"dammit! that son of the devil!." Chile screamed in rage.

"get me another car ! you morons!" he shouted spitting some blood from his mouth.

Scar and his men had gone kilometers away. He was still holding the shaky Zac.

" its gonna be okey boy you are safe now" he held him close.

" Is everyone okey ?" he asked the guys with him.

"we are all fine here we dont know about the other boys." They responded.

"well stop i check on them" he told the driver.

"Chile wont catch up any time soon" He put down Zac and went out. As the other car stopped besides them.

"everyone ok ?" he shouted.

"Ken was hit on the shoulder" they told him.

"Put him in my car I will go with him and Jo, he must be checked at home, the rest go lodge at the warehouse. I need all of you safe tonight. Good work boys!" he shouted as he went back in the car.

"I will check on you tomorrow morning" he added as they started their car and drove past him.

The Bodyguard - Episode 4

By Tisa Phiri

I woke up as the early morning breeze touched my skin leaving my body feeling chilly, next to me was the woman i rescued the previous night, Paula. I watched her soft movement as she breathed. I could bet she was tired all the beating and shouting she was exposed to by those mafias probably grabbed all her strength i thought to myself as i watched her long face.

Her skin looking pale, probably because of the cold and the stress too. I took advantage of the moment and analyzed her. She had a slim and long face, her nose a bit pointed out making a shape of a well curved wooden doll. Her thick lips with a faint red color, with the silky hair in her head a little bit messed up,but still tied in a pony tail. She was definitely beautiful. I presumed she had a mixture of Asian and African blood. Everything about her face was like a white person, only her skin which wasn`t as white as that of the whites.

"Well Ackim" i sighed,

"of all people you had to rescue a colored girl." I moved her away from my shoulder she leaned on and slowly placed her head down. She slowly opened her eyes and woke up with a start realising obviously that she wasnt in a luxury bed, but in the thick forest, with a stranger.

"Hey! sorry i woke you up" i said dusting the leaves from my back.. "its okey," she responded her eyes wide open,

" i was so tired and i slept so much forgetting my situation" she grinned as she stood up removing my combat jacket hanging on her shoulder.

"yeah we have to start off and if we are luck, we might find people ahead and ask exactly where we are, from there you will probably find your way back home" i added looking at the sky trying to read the weather, hoping it wouldn`t rain. But my wish was in vain as the clouds were already dark and in minutes it would start raining.

"Yeah sure, thank you" she paused obviously she had forgotten my name..

"Ackim" i reminded her.

"yeah" she let a weak smile exposing her white and sharp teeth.

"thank you" she continued.

"you saved my life and if God willing we make it out of here alive, i will see to it you are well compensated" she told me as she removed her brown leather boot she wore on her feet and hit it on her palm to remove the small stones and soil that had entered inside.. i watched her feet, her nails well manicured and painted red. she however had a few bruises on her feet.

we stood closer to the tree as the rain started falling. I suggested we waited there until the rains stopped. The big and thick leaves gave us at least some shelter. Even though a few drops of water still reached us. I handed her a tin of fruits as i opened the last one from my bag..

In total, i had stolen 6 tins from the camp, meaning for the past days i was running i only eat 4 tins. I looked in my bag and removed the two bottles of water that had remained, handing Paula one.

"that is all we have left" i said.. gulping on my own water..

" we have to make it on time or you wont survive this jungle" i sighed as the water made its way to my stomach.

The rain stopped finally and we started our journey.

"so tell me who exactly you are and who your father is. In short, try to explain the details of what is going on in your life." i asked her as i watched her walk in front of me her skin jeans colored with some dirty, as her small behind moved side to side.

"well " she begun,

"its a long story, but it seems we have the whole day ahead of us after all," she chuckled...

"My father is a business man and politician too, we just moved in to Africa, i mean Zambia" she paused.

"some 8 years ago after my mother died in Asia, as you can see am a mixed blood. My mother was Asian and my father is Zambian. so when mom died dad couldn`t stay any longer that side so he decided to come and invest here in his home country. it was easy for him cause he already had investments running and also he sponsored a lot of politicians here. so when we moved here, he developed some sudden interest in politics,

the fact that, that would cause him to withdraw some of the privileges to the politicians and also that he has more wealthy, he is a threat to some old politicians and someone is trying to take him down, am not sure how, cause my father and i rarely discuss politics at home. somehow i was caught up in this mess and here i am, am not even sure why they kidnapped me..if my perception is correct or not,am not sure "

"Hmmmmm i see," i finally sighed when she stopped talking,

"being rich isnt that funny after all" i added with a laugh.

" i thought you guys had less problems but i guess we all have challenges uh.."

" yeah Ackim" she let a laugh, "everyone has their own issues to face.. "

"Now i know " i sighed,

"so what do you do yourself?" i asked her as we walked on approaching a clear valley ahead.

"I am working with my father`s company, am the chief Executive in one of the mines he has over 80 % of shares, on the Copperbelt"

"where is that?" i asked when she mentioned Copperbelt. I was hoping that would give me a hint of which side of the country we would head.

" Solwezi" she answered

"well great" i giggled,

"that means we are near. I dont think they could have held you far away from Solwezi and the fact that those guys where speaking some sort of Bemba with a tone of Kaonde, it means we sure are close " i told her..

We came across a village and seeing the man we had stopped to talk to my heart rejoiced, up until that moment i didnt realise i already crossed the boarder. The elderly man was kind especially after seeing how tired Paula looked. He offered as a meal and water which we gladly accepted. After talking to him and asking him some questions, he told us we were a few meters away from the road going to the town. We thanked him, though my kaonde wasn`t so good i was able to grasp most of the things he was saying.

With our bodies energized we matched down to the road as i explained to Paula about myself and how i got where we were. I don`t even know whether my parents are still alive and where they must be. I told her the time i joined the Commando, my father only had 2 years to his retirement day.. we came to a gravel road and sat down as we waited for a vehicle to show up.

"I wish we had a phone," Paula said weakly.

"Things could have been easy from here. I could have contacted dad or someone to come pick us up."

"well we have none my dear" i shrugged removing the jacket. The sun was now shinning up in the clear sky and it was getting a bit hot. Paula was quite for some time looking at me from head to toe, i caught her glaring.

"What?" I asked looking at myself.. "am i that bad?"

she smiled widely.. "you are okey given the circumstances." She smiled. I shook my head.

An open van stopped an hour later, i rushed to the driver and told him we needed a lift. Pula offered him some money telling him he will be paid well if he gets us to town.

"This is it then," i told her as we sat in the back of the open van, the bumps moving us from one side to another.

"what is?" she shouted on top of the noise from the engine.

" i mean from here we part ways." i told her dodging a small branch ahead as the van moved to the side of the road swaying the pothole ahead.

"No," she responded seriously,

"you need to clean up and get some other clothes before you go on to your city. i will see to it you are comfortable before leaving" she added..

"that`s to thank you for saving my life...."

"Okey then!" i shouted back.

" lets do that..."

The Bodyguard - Episode 3

By Tisa Phiri

I silently went back to the small house avoiding being spotted by the guy standing by the door. Peeped through the window and there she was, a coloured girl tied to a chair her hair ruffled and looking like it was blown by the wind all over her face.

I watched the guy I had seen near where I hid stand before her and screamed at her.

"shut up! Now you bitch! or I will send you to your grave..."

" please my father will give you whatever you want just let me go now" she cried.

I looked at her and felt for her, I was brought up and trained to respect a woman and whatever i did, I would never deliberately hurt a woman. Seeing the man in that room slap and hit that poor woman made me furious. I couldn't tell what had transpired but I wasn't going to stand and watch that psycho mistreat a woman. Before I could talk myself out of it, I charged forward my gun pointed forward. I took some quick but silent steps towards the front, bowed a bit and saw a clear view of the man by the door.A strip of smoke emerging from his mouth. he held a cigarette and it seemed he was enjoying the effect it was impacting on him.

I looked further away and spotted two other guys seated in a shed the opposite side their backs towards me, making some calculations, I knew I could take down the man by the door without making noise and slip into the room. I had to be careful as four against one would not work so good for me if i didn't play it well.

Slowly I stepped forward, I held the man by the door and he tried fighting it but i was quick, I twisted his head like I learnt from the military how to put out someone without killing them. Slowly i lay him down and checked on the guys in the shed. Their faces where still turned the other way, satisfied, I pushed the door slightly and walked in. The woman saw me and I held my finger on my mouth to silence her. The guy before her had his back turned to me.

Before he could turn to look at what the lady was glancing at, I held him from behind and he tried fighting back. I didn't give him an opportunity to produce any more noise, so I slid my small knife from my pocket in his throat. placed his dead body down as blood flowed down creating a pool around his back.

The woman looked at me her eyes filled with fear.

"who are you?" She asked shaking.

"please don't kill me.. please.. "

"shshshshs" I whispered to her.

"I just want to help you and if we have to escape this place alive I need you to do as I say okey?" I asked untying her hands which were tied to a chair.

"okay " she nodded her lips still shaking..

I held her small hand and slowly opened the door, after I was satisfied the guys in the shed were still in the same position, I pulled her out and ran to the back as fast as she could go. Just then, the guy by the door winced and shouted making the friends startle and went to him.

"what hapened here? " one of them asked the guy on the ground.

"the girl !" he shouted.

"Damn it! " They shouted back and one of them ran towards the back and another went searching in the front. I quickly led the woman to the bushes and asked her to lay flat down. I saw the man look around and when he realised it was quite, he went back running.

"where did they go? " he shouted..

Some minutes later I raised the woman and told her to ran as fast as she could. I follwed behind as we ran further away from the house not even knowing where we were going. I could see the way she was running that she was a fast runner. If i wasn't as fast I could have lagged behind. I really don't know what inspired her speed, whether it was fear or it was just in her to ran.

She stopped after we covered a reasonable distance, to my surprise longer than I anticipated a woman to go. Panting, she leaned on the tree. I stopped before her..

"are you okey? " I asked her..

"Who are you and why have you come to my rescue? Who sent you? Was it my father? " She asked me. Though it was a dark night, i could tell her eyes were on me. I was sure she was wondering how a man in a combat looking like one from the dept of the forest was doing saving her life..

"Well," I finally told her..

" my name is Akim and no i wasnt sent by anyone. i just happened to be passing by and saw those guys holding you there, my instincts told me to help you and I pray to God I have not just made the biggest mistake of my life" i added serously..

I indeed hoped I hadn't burried myself in more trouble rescuing the woman I didn't know and had no idea why they held her.

"anyway" I thought to myself..

"I did what I could and I would go my way"

She sighed..

" thank You Akim"

"you saved my life. Am Paula.. " she added..

"What did you do for them to hold you like that in such a place? " I asked her.

"I don't know but i think it's about my father's political issues or something. I was just held as a bet."

"oh I see" i looked at her..

"anyway, you are on your own from here. I also have my journey to Persue and I don't plan on tagging you along, you can stay here till morning and find your way back home. I have to go before dawn. I need to cross the boarder."

"Wait !" she called me before I started moving.

"you can't just leave me here in the dark alone. where are you going? I can go with you and what boarder are you talking about? Where is this place?" She was now panicking I sighed..

"my dear, we are somewhere near the Zambian boarder in congo. I should cross before morning. so you have any idea how you got here?" I asked her..

"Oh no don't tell me am in Congo. I have no idea cause i was brought here unconscious, that explains why my father's men have not found me those bastards crossed the boarder, this is hell I can't believe this is happening to me. Do you have any phone? " She asked..

"no I don't and I have to go. If you are coming lets start walking now and by morning, you will head your own way.. "

"Okay thank you" she nodded as she walked behind me. I switched on my touch and lit the way. I pointed it on my hand and checked the time. It was almost 03am.

After going for a mile I noticed Paula was lagging behind..

"you are tired, we can rest here" I indicated searching the area around the tree. she sat down and hugged her self. I noticed she was cold, I looked at the sky and the clouds had cleared.

" It would not rain until hours later" i thought to my self..

I sat next to her and she moved closer.

"am scared" she whispered.

"It's okey" I told her

"we will be fine, there's nothing to fear, even snakes are hiding from the cold they won't come out." I felt her shoulders shiver with the cold, removing my heavy combat jacket I covered her.

" hope you won't mind the stench" I joked. I felt her shoulders relax she had smiled.

"thank you Akim" .

I smiled too and couldn't help feel that she felt safe, leaning her head on my shoulder after some minutes she fall asleep.

My mind went back relieving what I just did. It was risky but I felt good about my act. It had been long since I did something I was proud of. Leaning my back on the bark of the tree I fall asleep.

Stalked By A Mafia - Episode 13

A story by Tisa Phiri

Scar looked at his watch, it was 15 minutes to 18 hours. He would make it to the spot Chile told him in 10 minutes tops. his phone vibrated, he looked at it Jo sent him a text,

"all is set"

"Good" Scar said to himself.

He rembered the first time he met Chile. Jo had assured him the boss would like him.

" come on Aaron give it a short or else you die with hunger in this town. am sure you will make money and help your poor mother out of her poverty." Jo insisted.

Scar had taken days to think over it, his mother even asked him what was bothering him.

"Nothing mom" he had told her, "am just thinking about how everything am trying isn't working. look at us, we barely have a meal in a day. what's the point of having 6 points if you can't even further your studies..? " he complained.

"Only God knows my son" his mother would say.

"you don't have to rush in this life or you will end up in bad things and when you do that you may end up loosing your life."

"Well mom" Scar talked to himself looking at the side mirrow as he sped his car.

"I guess it's too late now, am deep in this life I never wished for and there's no way out. I have to save my son and somehow make sure he doesn't end up like me being so lost." He mumbled.

He reduced speed as he approached the building ahead, checked his watch again. It was exactly 5 minutes to 18 hours. He parked the car outside the building taking quick glances aroud, he could tell someone was watching him. He knew that would be the case especially that Chile had told him to go alone. pressing a button on his phone, he cleared his throat as he walked inside the building.

Jo who was meters away looked at his cell, he opened the text from Scar.

'green ' it read.

"well guys we have a go ahead. Let's go take out the snipers."

They moved forwad silently, all together they were 6 men including Jo. They moved closer to the garage and Jo who had binoculars spotted 4 men pointing guns at the old building. he gave signs for them to spilt and take out the watchers all at once.

Jo moved towards the guy in front of him as the other guys targeted three other snippers.

He walked slowly his back bend, the guy holding his guy didn't notice someone behind him and before he could do anything, Jo slit his throat with a knife, he fall to the ground without making a sound.

Jo held his binoculars high and saw the other guys take out the other snippers and took their places.

He relaxed as he lay back down next to the dead guy taking his post. He then beeped Scar once indicating all was set.

Scar felt his phone vibrate and he smilled.

"Good" he thought to himself as he approached Chile.

"Right on time" Chile held out his hands as Scar walked towards him.

"I trained you Well Aaron or would you rather I call you Scar..?" He chuckled teasingly.

"Spare me the jokes Chile am in no mood for your laments" Scar responded seriously.

"Good then" Chile laughed.

"I like getting to the point, by the way don't try anything stupid. I have this whole thing well plotted " he said as he indicated two guys to search Scar. one of the guys took out his gun from the back and put it on the table.

"You know what Chile. I can't help but feel pity for you are so dumb. I mean come on. kidnapping kids? I knew you better" Scar mocked...

" I didn't know you wanted me that badly." he teased him some more.

Chile's expression changed,

" don't you dare me Scar. I have my boys watching this entire building. so stop acting so smart with me" he shouted pointing a gun at him.

"well then tell me where the boy is already" Scar responded firmly.

"Hmmmmmm not yet my boy" Chile grinned.

"I need you to give me 50% of the kapiri job and I give you back the boy." He smiled.

"What? !" Scar shouted,

"50%? have you lost your mind? " he scoffed

" No! Chile" responded.

"50% and you will continue paying me 10% of every job you pull out after wards. I got you in this game remember? I need you to appreciate me for that"

Scar shook his head.

" you must be kidding me" He let out a laugh..

"what is it now Chile ? Are you so old you can't pull out your own deals or what ? Am not giving you a dime you fool !" he scolded,

"you can rot in hell for all i care."

"Well, then" Chile said.

"forget the boy then. go prepare for his funeral with that beautiful girl you found for yourself." He pointed out dismissively.

Scar looked at him for a moment his anger emmerging. He wasn't going to let Zac die but wouldn't give him what he was asking for either

"Okay let me see the boy and we will discus the deal"

"First the deal Scar" Chile pointed out...

"No way, I want to see the boy." He insisted

"Well seeing him wont be possible but you can talk to him." he dialed some number and gave the phone to Scar.

"Helo" Zac answered the Phone... "mom is that you?" he said sounding scared.

"no it's me your mom's friend? ,Aaron, I bought you some games remember? " he tried to cheer him up.

"Yeah, but these men are holding me here. where is mom? I want to go home please tell them to take me home, I hate it here."

Chile snatched back the phone before Scar could say anything more and before he knew it. Scar hit him on his head and the four guys around them all pointed guns at Scar. He quickly grabbed Chile and held him tight by his neck putting a flicker knife which he had in his shoes across his neck.

"put them down or I will slit his throat" he ordered coldly.

Chile gasped as Scars grip tightened around his neck. The guys still pointed their guns at Scar.

"you won't get away from this Scar." Chile spoke his voice cutting,

"there are snippers outside and you won't run any where before they shoot you down." Chile shouted

Scar chuckled.

"you are so predictable Chile, those idiots are visiting their ancestors as we speak. So take me to the boy before I kill you too" he added

"Damn you! What have you done? " Chile gasped again.

As Jo and the other guys came to the door. Chiles guys started shooting them. Quickly, Scar let go of Chile to get out of the bullet way and ran to hide behind some old machine.

Seeing how difficult the situation was, Chile fled behind the building and ran As fast as he could to his car parked outside.

After all Chiles guys fell down, Scar stood from his hiding.

"good work boys. it all went as planned so far that idiot will lead us right back to the boy." He shouted .

Scar got his gun and pushed it back in his belt.

"Jo let's go, the rest take care of the bodies and join us later, the battle has just begun...." he added walking out.

Stalked By A Mafia - Episode 12

A story by Tisa Phiri

Sila sat in front of a TV not really watching. she had no option but to trust Scar. she shook her head in thoughts, telling him Zac was his son was the last thing she ever thought of doing. she really didn't intend to put her son's life in danger.

Something however, told her to trust Scar.

"I have no other enemies in my life. what ever happened to my son must be Aron's fault. what kind of person is he? that he makes whoever comes across him have a mesirable life." She breathed out.

Her friend Martha knocked on the door and she called her in.

"Any news dear?" she asked as she hugged her in greeting.

"nothing Martha am really getting worried now. its almost evening and the guy I told you on phone hasn't called me back yet." She explained.

"But Sila don't you think it's dangerous to trust that guy? You barely know him. You saw him like... twice ? If I remember what you told me this morning." She shook her head..

" you won't understand" Sila sighed...

"he's not just any guy he's the father to Isaac. Am sorry, Martha I cannot tell you everything... it's better you stay in the dark over this but believe me whatever happened to my son is somehow connected to him and am afraid of ruining everything if I report to the police."

"Well, Sila" Martha responded...

"I hate that you don't trust me much as your friend. It's just awkward that you have never talked about Zac's father all this time we have known each other. now you tell he just appeared out of no where and apparently has issues and your son is involved. come on girlfriend, this is not making sense at all. I really think you should report to the police this is more serious than you are taking it. Your son's life is in danger"

"What can i tell you Martha my life is a mess right now. I don't know what I should really think.. "

"the best thing is to report to the police Sila." Martha emphasized... "just think of it. what if that guy doesn't show up..?

What are you going to do then? who knows maybe you could have saved your son's life, don't wait until it's too late please my friend."

Sila looked at her, she really had a point. Indeed she knew deep down her heart Scar was not a person she could relly on. He was a thief and who knew maybe he was the one with Zac.

"you are right Martha. Let's go to the police now I need to report my son has been missing for hours." She agreed.

she went to her bedroom and got a small Jersey throwing it on top of her body top.

" please let's go.."

*******

The guy Scar had placed to watch Sila saw as the two ladies entered the Runex . He quickly got his fon and called Scar.

" Boss another lady came to see her and they are just getting in the car . I think they are going out..."

"Okey.. just follow them and keep me updated am on my way." Scar responded..

"What are you doing woman?" Scar spat. He was just going through the plan with Jo and the other guys.

Earlier Chile had called him.... "where is the boy?" Scar had answered when Chile announced who he was.

Chile chuckled... "mmmn he's safe but I need you to pay attention."

"what do you want Chile.? You are a coward. " he told him angrily

" by the way" Scar went on...

"that fool you planted here is long gone, try a sharper guy next time."

"Oh that's too bad. But I don't need him anymore. I have what I wanted " Chile mocked...

Scar clenched his fist in anger.

" tell me what you want already you fool." he snapped...

"All in due time." Chile laughed on the phone.

"meet me at the old garrage. Am sure you know the place, that's where I hired you from. 18 hours sharp or you take a dead kid to your lover." Chile chuckled making Scar angry.

Scar hit the table as he hang up.

"Huuuuuuh! he screamed with rage.

"get me the boys" he had ordered Jo." I won't let that idiot play me any longer"

"yeah sure." Jo nodded as he took his phone to call the boys.

As 8 guys sat in the room. scar briefed them on the issue at hand leaving out the fact of Zac being his son.

" the lady you saw last time at the warehouse is important to me and Chile has her son. I want us to get the boy unharmed.,"

Everyone nodded as Scar went through the plan.

"clear? " he asked when he was done giving the details.

"Yes" they all answered at once.

He was just about to prepare going to the spot Chile told him when the guy watching Sila called him.

" I have to sort something first" he had told the guys.

" everyone stick to the plan. I will meet you up later."

As he drove to go sort Sila. The guy called him again..

" Boss this is getting serious, they just headed to the police post."

"what? Which one?" Scar asked accelerating the car engine.

"Central police" the guy told him.

"Am on it" he said as he hang up.

"damn Sila. you just have to make things difficult now." He frowned

*******

Sila and Martha entered the police post.

"how may we help you?" an officer asked them.

"we want to report a missing child " Martha responded.

"Okey sit there, give me a minute " he said as he went to the other room. when he came back Sila was about to start giving her statement and at the moment Scar walked in.

" hey I have been looking for you." He smiled looking at Sila.

Sila turned to look at him.

"Aaron what are you doing here? "

He forced a smile

"I have something to tell you, come with me. will you? " he indicated for her to walk out.

Sila looked at Martha whose face disapproved.

"let me just. .." she almost spoke.

" just a minute" he insisted,

"hear me out." he looked at the officer who held his pen ready to take the statement.

"hey officer give us a moment." He looked at the cop.

"Take your time Aaron" the officer smiled . Sila looked at both of them..

"you know the officer? " she asked Scar.

"Please" Scar pleaded instead, "let's do this outside."

"Martha wait for me in the car" Sila told her friend as she followed Scar outside.

Martha shook her head and said nothing.she got her bag and headed to the parking lot.

Outside Scar took Sila to his car.

"what is it ? " She asked upset.

"you told me you will bring back my son but it's almost evening. I have to report to the police before it's too late."

"Oh Sila" Scar sighed shaking his head.

"you don't understand this. let me tell you, those cops are good for nothing trust me i know how they work. So you think any of these corrupt cops care about your son? No , They don't give a damn. All they are intrested in is getting their pockets full. Even if they work on it, it will take them weeks or probably months to find Zac and he would be probably dead then. is that what you want? " He asked her.

Sila shook her head..

"Am just confused " she said tears in her eyes.

"I can't loose my son Aaron am scared." She told him honestly.

"I understand" Scar said.

" just let me help you please. he's my son and I will do everything I can to get him back. But I need you to believe in me Sila. The police will ask a lot of questions and if am linked to any of this we both will loose in the end. I know who might have taken him."

"Who? " She asked suprised..

"He's a thief and murderer too. he's a dangerous guy. But I know how to take him down. He wants me but unfortunately he knows I have a weakness for you so he's using Zac as a bait." He shrugged.

"oh my God! Aaron, you tell me this now? How am I going to calm down knowing some lunatic murderer has my son? And what weakness are you talking about...? " she panicked.

Scar touched the steering wheel and breathed heavily, before looking at her .

" I love you Sila.. "

Sila looked at him..

" what? you love me? Stop being paranoid Aaron..you claim you love me after making my life miserable, please spare me that nonsense and get back my son. I dont care what you do just give me back my son." She raised her voice.

"You put us in this danger so please sort this issue fast and if anything happens to my son. I swear you will pay for everything you have done to me" she said slamming the door as she left his car.

Sila looked at him as he drove away, he was right, the police would take forever to find Zac.

"I hate doing this Martha but I think its best I let him do it." She sighed telling her friend

"whatever you decide " Martha told her.

"just take me home now" she sighed shaking her head.

The Bodyguard - Episode 2

By Tisa Phiri

I woke up and looked at my watch. I had slept for almost 2 hours by the tree, the cold wind blowing and making my body feel some chills. I wiped my eyes, looking around it was getting dark. I grabbed my bag from my back and pulled the loops I had tied to close the bag and removed a small tin of baked beans. I didn't like the taste of the beans but my hunger surpassed my taste buds, gulping the water from the bottle, I felt a bit stronger than before.

I walked a few steps to the small path and looked both directions before lifting my legs and continuing on my journey.

I knew if I covered some good miles before dawn I would probably be at the boarder to Zambia.

"God willing I would cross over to the Zambian side by morning." I thought to myself.

I was not sure which part of Zambia I was to emerge from, my estimation was either North western or parts of the copperbelt province.

I walked and trotted the entire night without stopping, that was the good part of undergoing some hard training in the military, it was difficulty to train and do as ordered but now it had come in handy. The act of perseverance was embedded in me and surrendering easily wasn't an option.

I had to kill a couple snakes that I spotted first with the flash light I held in my hands. I knew general Loko was probably still searching for me but I made sure I walked the opposite direction of where him and his man went.

With every step I took my strength diminishe but I staggered and moved on. Hours later, I saw some small lights ahead on the ground slightly higher than where I was. some thunder and lightening lit the surrounding blinding my sight a bit as I stomped my boot on the stones.

"I have to get to the light and maybe get some shelter from this rain.." I whispered to my self gaining momentum.

After dragging myself for what seemed like a day. I saw the lights closer after an hour. The thundering and lightening continued. I looked up the sky, the dark clouds were slowly moving back wards. I smilled as I remembered what my mother would say when there was too much thundering and lightening before the rains, she would say.. "when there's so much of cracking and lighting in the clouds, it never rains. especially if the occured before the rains."

I smiled at the thought of my mother. I was sure by that time she had started forgetting about me. it had been 5 years and since we were reported lost and probably killed. I was mourned and an empty grave dung in my honour.

With the way I was looking, I was sure no one could even recognise me. My hair had turned to be like that of a Rastafarian. The heavy beards on my cheek also contributed to making me look like a wild animal, no wonder I avoided the small village houses all my way and as much as I could hid from the people. I was certain I would send them running all directions with just a glance at me. Even the colour of my green combat had turned to brown or some colour between brown and dark green.

I kept my mind busy thinking of home and how it was back before this happened to me.

I was one of the most known recruit, my good looks and vibes got me lots of girl's attention, even though I wasn't as tall as my young brother, girls loved my charm and middle height.

However, I played around with them but my heart belonged to my lovely eastern girl. Chimwemwe, the time i was in the commando training after being selected from the best soldier recruits to proceed and train as commandos, she had just completed her grade 12. I had plans of marrying her after she had completed her college. Chimwemwe always told me she wanted to do a teaching course. I loved her and missed her a lot. I did miss her a lot especially the first 2 years after we were held captive, but with the days and weeks and later on months passing, I felt being disconnected from most of my physical feelings. I decided to switch off my emotions in order to survive the harsh environment I was subjected to.

The lights I was seeing where now a 100 meters away from where I stood. Coming out of my own thoughts, I smiled and felt relief upon seeing light coming from a shed. I slowly moved forward searching the surrounding with my eyes as I crawled towards the fire. I didn't want any surprises so I held my gun and pointed it forward ready to fire in case of any strange thing happening.

I was about to ran to the back of the small house in the middle of what looked like a farm, I couldn't tell for sure since it was so dark and I had switched off my torch.

"Hey come and stand here for me" I heard a hoarse voice call out from the entrance of the house. I saw a man's dark shadow move to the house and the one who called walked towards my direction. I lay flat on the small bushes holding my gun..

I was almost standing to hit him when he stopped and pointed his manhood releasing water at an angle slightly on the left of where I lay. I watched him moan in satisfaction and the light shown slightly in his face as he turned to go revealing his bold head. His loose jeans pushed a bit down his buttocks and on top was a heavy sweater.

I looked at him as he walked.

"What ever those men are doing here" I thought to myself

"Is dirty." I had a strange feeling and chill in my skin, my military instincts confirmed my suspicions.

I turned to walk away trying to avoid any confrontations with the bad guys again. but a few steps, I heard a female voice screaming and shouting. I Stopped for a while and listened on as the voice cried softly and begged to be left alone.

Shaking my head I turned to continue.

"Akim, its none of your business" I told myself, but the loud scream that followed caused me to walk back.

The Bodyguard - Episode 1

By Tisa Phiri

I looked around just to make sure no one was watching me, the tall trees and green grass did me favour. It matched so well with my green patched combat. Slowly patting the way through the tall grass ensuring that I created little noise. Moving quickly on my stomach with my hands supporting me, I made my way through the tall grass and I sighed as I reached the thick bushes.

Spotting a big tree a few meters away, I rushed and climbed up swiftly. As soon as I settled up in the branches I saw other soldiers, my persuers running my direction. one of them shouting

"let's go he went this direction!"

"yes sir!" the others answered.

I looked straight on top his head as he stood direct under me, smilled to myself,

"I got you bastard!" i screamed in my head. If only he was chasing me alone without 30 other soldiers I could have shot him, blowing his brains out. But I had to take it easy if i was to escape from the hell I lived through the past 5 years of my life.

My name is Akim, I was born in Zambia, 28 years ago. I am the 4th born in a family of 5, born from a Soldier and a humble house wife. My father was a gallant soldier but due to his misbehaviour he never got promoted passed the rank of a sergeant.

When I was 20 years old my father sent me to go and train as a soldier in Ndola Mushili Barakas.

__

In the second year of our training as a commando, our camp was attacked by the rogue soldiers from Congo who took 20 of us in captive and held us in the deep forests of Congo.

News went by in Zambia that we were all killed in the line of duty.

General loko, who was in charge of the rebels had for the first three months subjected us to torture until all our energy to fight back eloded. All of us lost hope of ever returning to our country besides, when we were driven in the back of the trucks the day we were captivated our heads were covered in dark clothes hence we could not even identify clearly the direction of our country.

Within the first year of slaverly in the hands of the rebels who made us do all kinds of dirty things for them . Including kill people in the villages as a way of fighting back at their government. out of the 20 captivated from Zambia, 5 died of malaria. luckily I survived and lived on. With each passing day I lost my sense of humanity and lived by orders like an animal.

One day however, I woke up with a new vibe and dream of escaping. I told my friend who refused profoundly..

"am scared" he told me,

"what if they catch us, you know they will kill us without hesitation"

"well" I told him..

"unlike you I better die trying because staying here is the same as being dead"

So I went on planning my escape for 2 years. I managed to mark a few tress we had passed through from the city. I however planned to escape to the boader from there I would probably find my way to Zambia.

So here I am being persued by general loko and other soldiers. I had hidden a gun in the bushes and packed some water bottled in my bag. I also stole some tinned foods and hidden them. I had escaped in the night as everyone was asleep killing the guy who was on guard.

But the dark night made it so difficulty for me to move fast. I was lost and went in circles the whole night before it was dawn, one of the rebels saw me by the river and he shouted..

" there he is..!" When I heard the shout I was taken by surprise but I manged to ran and hide as they chased after me.

I looked at the general as he paced around under the tree I was hiding in. my own breath felt like I was making so much noise to be heard down there. I looked at him as he walked away following the others who went different directions searching for me. I knew being caught would be the end of me . praying to survive this hell and make it to my country even if i had no idea where I was going.

I waited for 2 hours more before I climbed down and started running as fast as my feet could take me, the heavy boots on my feet being the only sound I heard as they hit the ground.

After going for almost 20 kilometres i came to a small stream flowing in the east direction. My inner instincts told me to follow it as there is always some people living near where water was.

It was almost getting dark when i first came into contact with a human being. I hid behind the bark of the tree as I heard male voices coming my direction. Passing were two farmers carrying their hoes, "coming from the fields i gues."

I sat down to rest after taking the bottle of water from the bag and drinking it rapidly, putting my head on the bark of the tree and fall asleep. I needed to rest before proceeding.

Stalked By A Mafia - Episode 11

A story by Tisa Phiri

Scar watched as Sila cried for her son.

"that bastard got him" she shouted.

" how could he after i did all he told me? Oh my God not my son, he's evil " she cursed

"how dare he torments my life " she cried loudly and desperately.

He stood up fury emmerging from his heart,

"there's only one person who can do this" he spoke to himself.

"now Sila thinks I did it."

It hurt him that Sila thought so ill of him but who could blame her..

"am not a good person" he thought to himself.

"I swear I will get that good for nothing thief!" he shouted.

"But boss" Jo responded.

"we need to be careful, don't you think we have done more than enough for this woman ? Am afraid we might loose a lot of things because of her."

"well, have you ever fallen in love Jo ?" Scar asked him...

"No, maybe I did... but I can't.. "

"well then stop talking nonsense " Scar cut him short.

"Besides Chile got to her because he wants me. Dont you see. you won't understand" he spat pushing Jo as he headed out.

As soon as he drove out the gate, he sped off. In less than 5 minutes he was at Silas house. He went in after the maid opened the door heading straight to Sila's bedroom.

She sat holding her son's photograph.

" please let him be okey" she cried. "he's the only one for me please God."

As she lifted her head she saw Scar enter and she lashed at him.

" you bastard ! you take my son and you even have the guts to show your scar face here!" she accused slapping him. Scar stood quite for a moment watching her hit him with rage.

"give me back my son, You thug! " she screamed..

Scar held her before she could hit him again.

"calm down now" he said trying to stop her as she fought to get out of his hands.

"Let me go you are so pathetic" she shouted...

" Not until you stop slapping me and calm down."

"calm down ?" she frowned

" do you have any idea what am feeling you jerk? my son was taken and all you say is calm down, give him back please " she cried...

"Well unfortunately I don't have him. am not the one who took Zac You have to believe me. I have no reason to. I let you go to be with him remember ?" He tried to reason with her.

"Oh well, you threatened me ..." .she paused not knowing what name to call him.

" Aaron" he told her.

"my real name is Aron.."

"whatever!" she snapped...

"just tell me where my son is already I beg you. do whatever you want with me and leave him out of this. he's just a boy for Christ's sake please..."

"Maybe the father took him" Scar looked at her dismissively.

" what are you saying?" Sila looked at him.

"oh well i mean, maybe his father decided to kidnapp Zac or something" he shrugged trying to get her..

"You are the father you idiot and.... " she stopped realising what she had just said.

" what was that?" Scar asked puzzled...

"nothing " Sila shouted regretting her big mouth..l

"I heard what you said don't say nothing. what do you mean Zac is my son?"

"I told you it's nothing, I just wanted to..... "

Scar grabbed her hand

"dont give me that bulshit and tell me the truth am I zac's father? " he bellowed.

"Let go of my hand you are hurting me" Sila lamented...

"Tell me now or..."

"Or what?" Sila raised her face.l at him.

"Don't try my patience" Scar said furious.

"believe me this is nothing as compared to what I will do if you wont tell me the truth now." He said tightening the grip on her hand.

" okey" Sila gave up..l

"yes he's your son he's a product of your rape." She murmured sadly.

"what? I have a son? " Scar withdrew his hand sitting on the bed.

He looked at Zac's photo, for sure the boy had some of his physical features. As images of Zac flipped his mind. he wondered how he would handle the situation. he understood now why he felt so attached to the boy, that fact of Zac was going to change everything. He was planning on letting Sila be. he wanted to concetrate on his life and try forgetting his feelings for her but now the situation had become more complicated.

"Why didnt you tell me this yersterday?" he asked Sila in a low voice. He felt so vulnerable and weak.

"I didn't mean for you to know, all thanks to that kidnapper you now know the truth. But don't be mistaken, Isaac and I wants nothing to do with you or your cursed life.

my son can never find out his father is a mafia and a rapist." She clearly pointed out.

"I understand you Sila and I will help you find him. believe me i have nothing to do with his disappearance." He frowned feeling emotions cloud his mind.

"oh so how did you know he was missing?" she asked him accusingly.

"it doesn't matter but I want you to trust me. I know you hate me but am going to bring Zac back.

Just dont tell the police yet or you might loose him for good." he added as he left her house.

He sat at the couch back at his house waiting for Jo who he had called on his way to go find him home.

"he's my son Jo" he said when Jo joined him.

"He's my son and that Chile got to him before I even knew him."

"what do you mean?" Jo asked suprised.

" well, Sila told me accidentally that he's my son. I got her pregnant after that rape."

Jo shook his head...

"now it's..., I don't know man" he sighed..

"we have to find him before that idiot does anything stupid" Scar told him.

" and he can never find out the boy is mine.

"Come to think of it" Jo muttered...

"if Chile knows about Sila it means he's been following you"

" or someone is betraying me" Scar added.

"am going to find out who, call me the boys I need to find out who the hell is back stabbing me." He stood up realising what was going on.

"But Scar the boys didn't know about her until yersterday. I don't think it's any of them." Jo argued

"It's only you and i who knows about her and her son."

"Can it be that you are the one betraying me?" Scar looked at Jo sternly.

"oh come on man, we are like brothers. You know I can never do that, besides what for? Come on Scar you know me better than that.."

Scar thought for a moment.. "the house workers" he whispered to himself.

" of course !" he shouted.

" get me the house workers now! " he screamed making Jo jump in his seat.

Jo called all the workers, two of them worked inside the house including Boyd and Daka the gate man.

Scar ordered them to kneel down, he walked in front of them slowly looking at them with anger.

Boyd shook, his hands getting wet. He wiped the sweet falling from his forehead.

"So," Scar spoke up after minutes of silence.

" is any of you going to tell me something I have to know?"

Everyone looked at Him except Boyd whose face was still down. "what do you mean boss ? " Daka answered .

"well," Scar sat down.

" someone amongst the three of you has been giving out information about me and I want to know why and who." He started and went on questioning them..

One worker and Daka showed ignorance and when it was Boyd 's turn he shivered.

"I don't know anything about Chile " he said with fear in his voice.
