HealthRe: Medical Tourism Spending Crashes 96% As Local Healthcare Capacity Deepens by ozo13(m): 5:57am On Jan 05
Flets:
These are only half truths. Reasons for reduction are

1. Devaluation of Naira - Relatively Fewer folks could afford medical tourism
2. More stringent measures in sourcing FX for medical tourism through CBN. People who could afford it sourced through the black market.

CBN is only reporting the medical receipts they funded, totally excluded the black market economy
good observation however is black market exchange rate far higher than those of CBN.i doubt .say a patient needs 20k dollars now to run medicals abroad, how much do you think the black market rate will be higher than the cbn rate. At cbn rate of 1430 or 1450naira/1$ , its about 28m naira where as black market rate of 1490naira/1$ will be around 29M naira. Do you think someone that could afford 28m will now have a change of mind just because of 1m difference.i honestly doubt sir. I stand to be corrected sir Sha.
As rightly mentioned in the post, a Doctor with aneurysmal dilatation of one of the major brain blood vessels (a time bomb) had to quickly undergo a vascular repair surgery in cidacrest abi Duchess hospital (owned by those guys with vast experience practicing abroad) in Lagos in 2024. They had to help him pay the 20/30M naira medical bills.
Wonders are happening in Nigeria now oo especially that Lagos.Portharcout is trying too now as most Nigerian guys practicing abroad are coming back home to establish. I think cidacrest got a branch in Abuja too and people are paying for the services.imagine paying a consultation fee of 40/50k just to see/speak with their Doctors o grin . Wetin we dey pay 1k-5k to do in most govt hospital.

Na u dey spew rubbish. Taxes in those countries reflect on the quality of the people's lives. Good roads , health care, education, electricity etc
hmmm. How many good road, electricity, good health care and good education can a yearly budget of 38billion dollar fit give 200M plus Nigerians. Countries like South Africa does a yearly budget of around $170 billion dollars for just less than 100M people. And they generate as much as $140 billion from their revenue.
The only way out of this is to increase the tax net(most rich people in Nigeria aren't paying tax) and also the other resources should be tapped into for more revenue and more importantly, Nigerians (paper thieves in offices and the political class) should allow the little been generated work for all the citizens.
I remember during Corona in 2019/2020 when people were asked to stay at home.more revenue was gotten because papers thieves in various offices didn't have the opportunity to steal.

True talk, please mention the highest paying tax countries and then compare them with Nigeria for us
nawao .how much did Anthony Joshua pay as tax in his recent fight.40M dollars from around 90M Dollar generated.come back to Nigeria and show me any of our celebrities dropping almost half of what they earn as tax.
We can only advise the government to make good use of the tax gotten and not squander it.

PoliticsRe: The Quiet Explosion In State Budgets Nigerians Aren’t Talking About by ozo13(m):
AlbertNewton:
Instead of comparing with 2000 (over 25 years ago), it will be make more sense to compare with more recent years, perhaps the last 5 years, so we can better appreciate the progress (or otherwise) being made.
I took my time to do that sir.
In 2020 , Lagos state budget was 902billion naira. The exchange rate was 356-380naira to a dollar so we can use midway figure which will be around 365 naira to a dollar.
Dividing 902 billion naira by 365 exchange rate will be around 2.5Billion dollars budget by Lagos in 2020.
Our Budget no really too make sense Sha comparing it to our Southern brother ( South Africa) Our national Budget in 2014 was 4.9 trillion naira (27.7 billion dollars) while that of 2025 was 54 trillion naira(37billion dollars) compare it to south Africa 172billion Dollars in 2025.Their expected revenue to be generated was 148billion dollars .
We have a long way to go my chief.
So we shouldn't expect what countries like South Africa will enjoy as regards social investment programs and infrastructure. And our political class and the pen thieves in office will still steal from that meager 37billion dollars ooo meant for 200M people
That

You have hit the nail on the head

Most Nigerian drivers are reckless
I hardly can sleep when on the highway because of the way our drivers speed.
I was traveling to kaduna from Kebbi three years ago and I happened to be in the front seat with the driver. The guy man was just receiving fone calls anyhow and also over speeding.the height of it all was when he wanted recharging his airtime I think and the car almost went off the road.
Close to kaduna , he recklessly climbed a pot hole and the tyre scattered.na God save us that day.

I was in that route last month traveling back to kogi state from Lag.the road make sense.most of our drivers are so reckless when on the high way. Most of them overtake anyhow and also do not obey traffic rules.may God Almighty console their love ones.

TravelRe: Taxes Are Not The Reason For High Airfare In Nigeria - NCAA by ozo13(m):
I watched that program, and most of Allen Onyema's statements were contradictory.
How can air tickets be the cheapest in Nigeria when some flights from one European country to another cost around €40–60, whereas a 45-minute domestic flight in Nigeria can go up to ₦200,000–500,000—during this festive season when no new taxes have been introduced? Also no change in exchange rate or increase in price of aviation fuel.
Secondly, Allen Onyema himself admitted that under Buhari, spare parts and new aircraft purchases were made tax-free starting from 2021/2022. That the current proposed tax law seeks to reintroduce those taxes. The question that immediately came to mind when he said this was: Sir, if taxes were removed back then, why did airlines increase ticket prices from around ₦20/30k in 2022 to ₦150,000–200,000 now (an 8–10 times increase) for the same routes?
Everything points to greed.
PoliticsRe: Kano State Governor And Kwakwanso To Join APC Soon by ozo13(m): 5:23am On Dec 29, 2025
ebukal67x:
I dont understand how a sitting governor will be joining a party he already campaigned and won the election on its platform.
u don't know how Tinubu cracked some permutations in which most governors/political class are leveraging on sir.i believe that's the reason even unexpected governors like that of Enugu will join APC . They have more money to spend now even though we the civil servants and other Nigerians aren't enjoying most of those Tinubu policies.PDP division isn't helping matters too.
The only way out to give Tinubu a fight for that second tenure is for Obi to team up with Atiku in ADC.
Obidients will have to swallow that butter pills

On average, I very much doubt it, not after expenses like petrol, tyres, brake pads, repairs, etc., and health, theft, and accidents, which can put one out for weeks and even total the second hand keke, and therefore zero income.

But I must confess my absolute and complete ignorance here, and am only responding in appreciation of the mind and thoughtfulness that has made you ask, and which I find to be very commendable indeed.

I hope more knowledgeable people provide better answers so I too may learn.
in my area here where majority of the people fly okada, okada guys could make 10k again within 10hours but am not sure of keke sha.but I believe they should earn even more because each trip they can have as much as 3/4 passengers at a time
