Drinokrane: Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu has rejected a challenge from a former presidential aide Reno Omokri to receive $20,000 if he would spend a night in Koshebe, Borno State or Kware in Sokoto State without security, Igbere TV reports.
Mr Omokri had made the challenge following a statement by Mr Shehu that President Muhammadu Buhari had made Nigeria safer.
Shehu replied, saying he would not accept it if the money was part of donations for the rescue of Leah Sharibu a female student of Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi, kidnapped by Boko Haram on February 19, 2018.
Omokri has been in the forefront of campaigns for the rescue of Sharibu who has been with her captors for refusing to denounce her Christian faith.
MyGeneration: Nigeria is a great country, infact one if the greatest to have ever come out of Africa despite our minor set backs, for decades and centuries we have had trade relationship with our neighbouring country Niger.
To me the lack of sea port would make Niger not to able to attain it's full potentials.
Despite the sahara desert I see huge potentials in Niger republic, and they are not untilling but effectively.
Niger republic immigrants already make up a huge chunk of Nigerias immigrants, they see Nigeria as a second home as much as we see Niger as a second home.
Why don't we unite into one country.
You're high on some cheap substance and also very stupid
meobizy: The title alone screamed AlexReports. I opened the thread and wasn’t disappointed. Who is funding these women? I know very well it wasn’t her personal cash. I’m happy for Alex hitting the front page every other day here. He’s doing well.
Is your father idiot, you think everyone is like you.
Fake news sai baba. Buhari is working people like complaining, look now we are buying good and expensive rice not like the cheap bad rice we having been eating during good luck, quality fuel he was suppose to sell for 500 a litter like saudi but he decided to sell for 170 Everything is now good. Buhari forever.
**Adds: Our hearts go to families, loved ones of those killed
The Buhari administration will not relent but will do all it takes, including putting news ideas on the table in order to secure the country according to Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.
The Vice President is on a one-day official visit to Nasarawa State today and was accosted by reporters on his arrival in Lafia after he was received by Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
Below is the verbatim report of the Vice President's response to the media:
As the President said, these group of people have acted insanely in such a dastardly manner, killing innocent people, people who had gone to their farms to work.
I spoke to the Governor, Governor Babagana Zulum and the former Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima to express my condolence, but more importantly, to try and think through ways of dealing with this kind of random attacks.
It’s important to understand also that we will probably need to keep reviewing the conventional means of dealing with some of these issues, these security challenges, especially the randomness.
Which is why the President has said that he is taking a serious look at how to deal with the issues, especially the randomness: some insane person goes into a place and shoots people, that is not the sort of thing that you are prepared for conventionally.
We have to do a lot more local intelligence and some of the community policing efforts we are planning on, so that information is supplied faster, especially at the local level and then a reaction will then be possible.
It is a major tragedy; it’s a very unfortunate thing and our hearts are with the family of those who were killed in such a terrible manner.
We are very confident and the Federal Government will continue to do what it needs to do especially in terms of trying to ensure security in the Northeast and all over Nigeria.
You’ve heard the President and what he has to say, especially some of the new ideas around security and the security architecture which we are trying to put in place. We will get there.

New lease of life for Dahiru Buba, Dukku man who trekked from Gombe to Abuja for Buhari, as Governor Inuwa Yahaya doles out car, 2 million Naira cash to ardent APC loyalist
It is now a new lease of life for Dahiru Buba, the 50-year old native of Dukku Local Government who trekked from Gombe to Abuja in celebration of President Muhammadu Buhari's victory in 2015 and now suffering from limb ailment, as Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya today in Abuja presented a Ford Galaxy ( sharon) Car and sum of two million Naira to the diehard APC supporter.
It will be recalled that the media was recently awash with the story of Dahiru Buba calling on the Government and public spirited individuals to come to his aid after he developed limb complications from a solidarity trek he undertook to celebrate the first term victory of the President.
The Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya had earlier directed that Dahiru Buba be taken to the Government House clinic for diagnosis from where he was later referred to a private orthopedic hospital where he was thoroughy examined and placed on medication.
Buba, a commercial driver met with Governor Inuwa Yahaya at the Gombe Governor's Lodge in Abuja.
He was accompanied by the member representing Dukku North Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Abdulkarim and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Hamma- Adama Dottuwa Ali Kumo as well as other Assembly members and stalwarts.
Governor Yahaya while presenting the gifts said, "For taking the pains and risks to show solidarity with Mr. President and our great party, people like Buba should not be neglected.
" By embarking on that solidarity trek, Dahiru Buba had shown patriotism and support, he should therefore be appreciated and encouraged".
"So on learning about his condition, first I directed that he should be taken to the hospital for proper medical attention and I am happy that he is now better after undergoing his first round of treatment ".
Secondly we are now capping it up with a support that we hope can sustain him. Since he is a Driver, we are giving him this Ford Galaxy Sharon so he can use it as commercial transport vehicle to sustain his livelihood. We are also giving him the sum of 2 million Naira cash to enable him purchase a house within his locality since I learnt he is a tenant. So as far as we are concerned in APC and in this administration, no genuine effort or sacrifice will go unrewarded no matter how long it takes".
" So on behalf of our dear President and our beloved party, we say a big thank you for your show of support and solidarity".
In his response, Malam Dahiru Buba, who was visibly emotional, expressed appreciation to Mr. President and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for recognising him and coming to his aid.
He said even with his earlier challenges after he returned from his 15 day journey, his spirit had never been dampened in his love for the President and his party.
Buba promised to use the vehicle and the money judiciously, saying the gesture truly motivated and spurred him as a loyal party man and as a breadwinner of his family.
