Literature/Writing Ads / Benscolari Is A Fraudster. Avoid Him! by Pacifyre(m): 12:10pm On Aug 25, 2019 |
He goes by many names: Benscolari, Fidel Malek, Theresa (the one he uses on a freelancing platform). His numbers are 09053216898, 08034174718, and 08141237927. He will do anything to get you to write for him, then he would insult you, call you demeaning names and refuse to pay you. He's an arrogant, unrepentant fraudster. Avoid him! Mynd44 Dominique

Literature / I Almost Loved You - A Poem By Pacifyre by Pacifyre(m): 12:31pm On Aug 19, 2017 |
In a dreary summer night thine pen screams Aloud in agony of pregnancy overdue, For a fortnight and another have passed since From its burdened womb a word or two last roused. Do cry, dear one, and then forgive, For this raging pain shall break not Into words, but into more pain furtive, Whose shards would prick and pinch and hurt. The starless monlit skies could not The radiance in her eyes outshine, nor overwhelm, Which burgeoned with love, lots of love, And wailed and hoped, in naught but vain.

THE OLD MAN'S BANANAS The blind old man sits ever still and waits patiently for the next buyer. He usually had one every fortnight, but today it has been seventeen days, and his bananas were naught but rotten. His sooty lantern finally gave out yesterday after eighteen years of loyal service, so today he sits in darkness adrift what is left of his bunch of five bananas. He would soon make a dinner of one banana, and the maggots lurking within its flesh would make the perfect ingredients. He has done this for eighteen years, and though born blind he has managed to sell two bunches of bananas every ten days, and cut his toes on his way to the nearest goat shed where he would pass the night. The blind man with a bunch of bananas sits by the road, and all we can do is plunge dust into his nostrils as we jet past in our luxury cars. 3 Likes 1 Share |
Education / Nigerian Woman Becomes The First Black To Bag A Phd In Bio Engineering by Pacifyre(m): 11:18pm On Jun 10, 2017 |
Former pepper hawker becomes first Black to earn PhD in Biomedical Engineering SOLA 8 JUN 2017 A young Nigerian lady, Adeola Olubamiji, whose story is that of the proverbial grass-to-grace has not only done herself proud by becoming the first Black to earn a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, her story is an encouragement that where there is a will, there is a way. Read her moving tribute on her graduation day: “As the fifth child of five, I always had to wait for my turn. I was the last, a girl child and raised by a mother who is farmer and a father who has little. “I hawked pepper on the streets of Ibadan as early as age 10 to help my mum. Went to public primary and secondary schools in Ibadan. Attended OOU and studied Physics. “Because I had a 2.1, it opened the door for me to proceed to Finland for a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering. During this Master’s degree, I worked part-time as a cleaner and did this after my Master’s as well. “Out of determination, I applied to over 100 schools for my PhD and finally got a full three-year scholarship (later extended to four years) at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. “While in that PhD programme, I worked part-time as a makeup artist, teaching assistant, braided hair and fixed weaves to make extra money. “Today, I walked the stage as the first black person to bag a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada! “I walked this stage for you Mama Africa and for my Motherland Nigeria! I walked the stage for all of you Black women disrespected and looked down on! “I walked for all of you from my ghetto hood, Mokola, Ibadan. I walked for all OSU students and ex-students that got that look from people who think we are not brilliant! “I walked for all of you Africans in Finland wondering what is next for you!! “Specially, I walked for you my parents, siblings and extended family in fulfilment of your dreams! “Specially, I walked the stage for you my late sister Omoleye Olubamiji; and my late mentor Ayodele Olatunbosun. “Today, I walked for my future husband and my unborn children who patiently waited for me to fulfil my dreams so that he can have a wife he will be proud of and they can have a role model to look up to. “I walked for all immigrants and all young adults who strived everyday chasing their dreams! “I walked in celebration of the unfailing love of my first and one truly true love, God (in you I walk, in you I live, and in you I have had and will continue to have my being)! “Be bold, be innovative, be different, be you, be everything you want to be; but remember to put God first! “Let no man, upbringing, money, circumstance, colourism, past mistakes, institution, company, partner, background, let nothing tell you ‘you can’t do it.’ “Go smart! Go hard!! Go for Gold!!! Go with God!!! Just Get Going!!!!! #Grad2017 #PhDConvocation #UofS” |

Amberon: Plagiarised the Bible? Man, you are dense. Have you read the Quran? We believe in the gospel, the original word of the one true God. The present day bills is a self-destructive, error-filled book of men, filled with scientifically wrong verses. We do not believe in it. You christians are an ignorant lot. That is your major problem. You claim my prophet plagiarized the bible, but my prophet was unlettered. I guess your knowledge of history needs overhauling. Man, Islam will rule the world. And your hate for Muslims will not change that. |

Amberon: Do you believe that Jesus Christ NEVER asked you to be a Christian? Do you believe that Jesus Christ asked you to follow Ahmad (Muhammad)? Do you also believe that Jesus Christ was (and still is) a Muslim? Do you believe that Jesus Christ was NEVER crucified? The truth shall set you free. May your heart be open to the truth. God willing. 1 Like |

Business / What Is The Best Domain Hosting Service Provider Around? by Pacifyre(m): 3:01pm On Apr 16, 2017 |
Hi all. My name is Ashraf and I am a Medical Imaging Scientist currently working with the National Hospital, Abuja. Working in the hospital environment is engaging and very tasking, but it provides the ideal mental condition to ruminate on several aspects of life - including business. We all know that when it comes to businesses in the 21st century, nothing comes quite easier and as profitable both in the short and long run as e-business. With excellent ideas and the right platform, e-commerce is just the business 'of the day'. Cutting a long story short, I have decided to engage my capabilities in the e-commerce domain. I am not able to give in-depth details of my business idea on this platform (I dey fear sharp guys...lol), but the business I have in mind has to do with something similar to what obtains at Remita; paying for services right from the convenience of your home. To do this, I'd need a website. To build my website, I need 3 materials: 1. A domain 2. A hosting service provider 3. A webiste builder This is where I need your help, guys. I am planning something big, and the last thing I want is to start with a mistake or on a weak footing. Please help me with the best service providers for all of the aforementioned requirements. I know there are highly professional tech guys on Nairaland. I really need your honest views. PS: Guys abeg, abeg, while giving your much appreciated contributions don't forget to put prices into consideration. I'd prefer very economical plans (Including FREE ones, if possible... Lol). Thanks a lot guys. Seun please help me contribute. Abeg. All the tech guys in the house biko come and drop advice for your guy. |

It was Friday the 13th, and I sat in our evergreen lawn watching the deciduous trees shed their sacrificial leaves when I heard a thundering beep on my cellphone. I was shocked to shreds, because my battery was dead, and I had removed my sim and placed it in my mother's device; but the message came nonetheless, and knocked me out of my dear senses: it was a photo of my dead mother, and it was captured on Saturday the 14th. Education / A Strong Message To All Nigerian Youths. A Must Read! by Pacifyre(m): 12:11am On Jun 20, 2016 |
"My Dear Nigerian Youths", by a Professor Isa at
Bayero University...
I am very angry and that is why I am addressing
you.
You are the source of my anger and I want to
vent my spleen- maybe not at you directly- but at
the arrogance of your ignorance.
You sit in front of a computer and rant all day
through social media but with every click, you
make money - not for yourself - but for Mark
Zuckerberg (Facebook).
With every megabyte of data you spend
complaining and maligning, you make stupendous
bucks for Etisalat, Glo and Airtel.
Over the next two years, the number of Nigerian
millionaires will jump by 47% but most likely you
will not be among because you are too busy
whining and complaining. And yet about 60% of
Nigeria’s 170m population are below 35 years.
Oh, what a waste! By the way, Mark Zuckerberg
was 19 when he started Facebook.
Africa’s youngest billionaire, Ashish Thakkar, is
31. He escaped from the Rwandan genocide and
relocated to Uganda where he started an IT
business.
Collin Thornton, who made his millions by fixing
bad computers and setting up Dial-a-Nerd, is 35.
Adam Horowitz, an 18-year-old entrepreneur,
started 30 websites in 3 years before he became
successful.
The only thing you have ever started is an online
petition. Have you heard of Jason Njoku? He’s 33
and the founder of Iroko TV. He received $8m
investment into his company just a few years
ago. What he does? Sharing the same Nollywood
films that you spend hours to watch online. He
didn’t just hang around waiting for Buhari to
make something happen or blaming Jonathan for
not making anything happen.
Kamal Budhabhatti was deported from Kenya but
while on the flight, he thought of the
opportunities in Kenya. He found his way back
after 6 months and today his company is valued
at $30m. He’s 36.
Have you heard of Chinedu Echeruo? Apple just
paid $1b for his app. He’s a Nigerian like you and
all he did was attempt to fix a problem. But for
you, the only thing you attempt to fix are your
nails- and your hairdo! Chinedu moved to New
York in 1995 and found it difficult to navigate the
city with ease so he developed HopStop to fix the
problem.
Stop listing all the problems - we know them
already but what are you doing about them?
Awolowo was 37, Akintola was 36, Ahmadu Bello
was 36, Tafawa Balewa was 34, Okotie-Eboh was
27 and Enahoro was 27 at the time of
independence of Nigeria.
In 1966, the first coup was led by Kaduna
Nzeogwu (29) and stopped by Murtala
Mohammed (28), TY Danjuma (28), IBB (25),
Sanni Abacha (23) and Shehu Yar'adua (23).
It brought in Yakubu Gowon as Head of State at
32 and Olusegun Obasanjo at 29.
You are in your 40s and you still sag your
trousers.
Of course, you know Linda Ikeji. You’ve spent
hundreds of hours on her blog laughing and
commenting while she smiles her way to the
bank.
She’s just built a house for her father in the
village- just by you clicking on her gossip and
sharing.
Your day is not complete without a stop by at her
blog. She was as broke as you are but she turned
a hobby into a business.
I bet Oluwaseun Osewa of foremost Nigerian
website, Nairaland, is already getting tired of bank
alerts as you flood his website. That's another
Nigerian millionaire under 40. After a couple of
failed attempts, his persistence and strong will
have finally paid off.
Are you that void of understanding?
You think those politicians have any regard for
you?
That is why I referred to the arrogance of your
ignorance at the beginning of this diatribe.
You have a false estimation of yourself. You have
an over bloated ego.
You are only as good as an election ticket - pure
and simple. You are only good to be used and
discarded like a used ballot paper. Who keeps a
used ballot paper anyway? That is why they only
remember you every four years.
Whether you are a WAILER or a ZOMBIE, wake up
to reality. Your heroes don't care about you!
Strive for a better life. You can be whoever and
whatever you want to be.
A word they say, is enough for the wise.
