Politics / N500bn SURE-P Fund Missing – Senate by packman: 2:08pm On Nov 06, 2013 |
The Senate on Tuesday said the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation had not accounted for the N32 removed as subsidy on each litre of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) sold from January 2012 to September 2013. It lamented that officials of the NNPC failed to honour its invitation to give account of how they managed the accrued fund. Members of the Senate ad hoc committee on the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme raised the alarm after NNPC and the Central Bank of Nigeria officials failed to honour an appointment with them on Tuesday. A member of the committee, Senator Kabiru Marafa, said the committee had observed that over N800bn ought to have accrued for the SURE-P projects between January 2012 and September 2013. According to him, the accrued fund will be over N800bn based on N32 that is removed from each of the 25 billion litres of fuel sold in 21 months. He said the figure was contained in a letter dated October 9, 2013 from the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to the committee. The letter, he said, was signed by the ministry’s Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Salmanu Faskari. Marafa said, “The committee had earlier written the NNPC to ascertain the quantity of fuel sold from when the subsidy programme started till date. NNPC gave us the quantity sold from January 2012 and September 2013, covering 21 months. “If you add everything together, it will amount to about 25 billion litres and if you multiply 25 billion litres by N32, you get about N800bn. What SURE-P coordinators told us when they appeared before us was that they had so far collected about N300bn since the subsidy removal regime started. “The SURE-P team led by Mr. Christopher Kolade said they were receiving N15bn flat rate every month. If you multiply 21 months by N15bn, it will be about N350bn. What we are even asking is what happened to the over N500bn difference. That is what we ask the NNPC to come and tell us. “We were also disappointed that the CBN was not here because they are the custodian of the fund. They should come and account for how they came about the N15bn they were remitting every month when it was not the same quantity of fuel they were selling every month. “The figure cannot be a flat rate. Based on the figure which the ministry supplied, in January this year, the nation consumed about 1.3 billion litres of petrol but it had dropped to 770, 695, 645 in September 2013.” Chairman of the Senate ad hoc committee on SURE-P, Senator Abdul Ningi, threatened to use all legitimate means to bring the affected officials before the committee. http://www.punchng.com/news/n500bn-sure-p-fund-missing-senate/ |

Crime / NEPA Stealing Armod Cables From Transformer's by packman: 1:29pm On Nov 06, 2013 |
it was yesterday night when the full neighborhood were asleep only it was approximately 2 o'clock only to see our light trip off it was very unusual.. i just slept only to wake up this morning to see people gathering around the transformer shouting and yelling that the armod cable has being stolen away from the transformer i was shock because how can a normal human being go to a transformer dig a cable and steal it with out it being a professional in the Job. actually it was the two transformers in my area that Got vandalized very strange indeed to what i could pick in the whole scenario was that it was Nepa staff that must have vandalized it. this whole drama happened at ibiye badagry lagos i am very shock but my self because i strongly believe Nepa did this wickedness who else would it be? everybody should be careful because we are in a perilous time. |

Family / Caged Live Vs The Wild Life As A Growing Child Which Is Better by packman: 4:27pm On Nov 05, 2013 |
i actually experienced the wild life as a toddler i was not caged at all i was as free as the air to be sincere i went to school all by my self no school bus we trekked to school came back home all by our self at the time we choose after eating we would go out ,and play ball on the street till evening or even night we would stroll greet our parents and enter inside we were all given free life to live in my house please to remind i am actually not from a poor home my were not reach but at least we were comfortable to some extent i enjoyed my life as free child i watched t.v till i felt i was satisfied or being driven away by my seniors, i hanged with friends of my choice i was only dragged to church on Sundays by mum cause she is a church type yet we were so much freedom and to me i think it has helped me a lot cause i learnt a lot on the street and had a lot of experience and also caught a lot of fun like bathing in the rain playing mud house e.t.c this have made me disagree with the ideology of caging a child mehn i would love to come to this life as a free child it was fun...... |

ednut1: your rants here won't change a thing, most employers want bsc, go nd re write jamb nd stop consoling urself YOUR DREAMS SHA..... AM SURE YOUR FATHER JOIN FOR THE EMPLOYER'S @ MOD PLEASE THIS SHOULD BE ON THE FRONT ITS A VERY COMPETITIVE TOPIC @ OP The truth is that i feel your pain the Nigerian Poly foundation was being built on a weak ground as a matter of fact polytechnic were actually a play Ground in the early 70's and 80's letting the universities taking all the educational Glory before they could realize it, they were already written off in the labour market. am sure polytechnic students back in the 80's would confirm my statement. but the truth is that most polytechnic has improved beyond mere educational standard polytechnic like yabatech, auchipoly, nekede poly etc this are the ones i am very sure of. the polytechnic is no more the poly we use to know. but i think the polys need to work more in other to take the glory from the universities since they involve more in practicals for them to be recognized in the labour market. my opinion |
