Buhari has no integrity...pls dont derail the thread. Apart from Rawlings, the rest are ruining their countries.
Not true.
The rampant corruption culture in Nigeria is not Buhari's fault. He cannot be the police officer at every corner of the road,, he cannot be the custom guard everywhere or the civil servant in all offices across this huge country with almost 200 million people.
The only problem with Nigeria (and Africa in general) is this delusional need for "democracy" and separation of powers that prevents the man in charge from sending crooked folks before a firing squad.
Had at least 40,000 crooked people faced a firing squad in Nigeria over a 4-year period, you can bet this country would have been lifted and would be striving today.
Rawlings understood that, reason why he taught a lesson to Ghanaians.
Let's all keep in mind a United Africa is doomed if we don't uproot corruption.

If Ecowas were a country the few who would be qualified to president would be
1. General Buhari, a man of honor and integrity. He also is a great patriot.

2. President Mugabe. Great panafricanist.
Great patriot.
His wife was from Ghana. She passed away long time ago, but this marriage still makes him a West African . Moreover he lived in Ghana for a long time when Nkruma was in power.

3. Jerry Rawlings of Ghana. Great patriot, man of honor and integrity. His policies brought Ghana back from a failed statehood to a booming economy.

4.Really don't see anyone else.

How many military coups would have taken place since 1960 ?
Benin had at least 10 if I'm not making any mistake.
Burkina Faso six ( 6)
Mali three ( 3)
Then add Ghana, Nigeria, Bissau Guinea etc.

Venezuela makes six arrests in alleged Maduro assassination attempt
By Marilia Brocchetto, Jonny Hallam, and Stefano Pozzebon, CNN

Updated 5:03 PM ET, Sun August 5, 2018
(CNN)Six people have been arrested after Saturday's apparent assassination attempt on President Nicolas Maduro in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, the nation's interior minister said on national TV.

Maduro survived the assault after several drones armed with explosives flew toward him during a speech at a military parade, an attack he blamed on far-right elements and Colombia's outgoing president, Juan Manuel Santos.

Those arrested are accused of "terrorism and assassination," Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said Sunday

Foreign AffairsUK: A Quarter Million Homeless And A $ 45.8-million Wedding by panafrican(op):
Read those two articles, one about the rising number of homeless and two the cost of a wedding.

in the mainstream media an uproar all over the world, a compare -and- contrast table about the expenses of that wedding and the level of poverty of people in that country.

More than 250,000 are homeless in England - Shelter
By Hannah Richardson BBC News education and social affairs reporter
December 1, 2016

Charity chief executive Campbell Robb said: "Shelter's founding shone a light on hidden homelessness in the 1960s slums."

He warned the housing crisis was "tightening its grip" on the UK.

"Hundreds of thousands of people will face the trauma of waking up homeless this Christmas," he said.

Now the wedding
The average cost of a wedding for couples in the US and the UK is around $34,000 (£23,700).

Five figures is a huge expense for a one-day affair. That is, unless you're ultra-rich — and especially if you're royalty rich .

Next month, the world will bear witness to the most anticipated royal wedding in years. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to be married on May 19 at St. George's Chapel, in Windsor, and will begin a carriage procession immediately after the ceremony. Their reception will take place later on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Kensington Palace will cover the cost of the wedding, an expense traditionally taken on by the bride's family.

The case was the same for Kate Middleton and Prince William's 2011 royal wedding — the only item Middleton paid for was her six-figure Alexander McQueen dress. Their total wedding celebration cost $34 million (£23.7 million).

Markle and Prince Harry's wedding will reportedly cost in excess of $45.8 million (£32 million), according to Bride Book's estimation . That's over 1,000 more than the average wedding.

BBC July 30, 2018
Assam register: Four million risk losing India citizenship

India has published a list which effectively strips about four million people in the north-eastern state of Assam of their citizenship.

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a list of people who can prove they came to the state by 24 March 1971, a day before neighbouring Bangladesh declared independence.

They say that a lengthy appeal process will be available to all - even if it means millions of families will live in limbo until they get a final decision on their legal status.

Who is affected?
Millions of people fled to neighbouring India after Bangladesh declared itself an independent country from Pakistan on 26 March 1971, sparking a bitter war. Many of the refugees settled in Assam.

Under the Assam Accord, an agreement signed by then PM Rajiv Gandhi in 1985, all those who cannot prove that they came to the north-eastern state before 24 March 1971 will be deleted from electoral rolls and expelled as they are not considered legitimate citizens.

Zimbabwe election: Mugabe turns on Mnangagwa in surprise pre-poll speech
36 minutes ago July 29, 2018

Mr Mugabe said he would not vote for his Zanu-PF successor, Emmerson Mnangagwa
Zimbabwe's ex-president Robert Mugabe has given a surprise press conference on the eve of the nation's elections.

Mr Mugabe said he would not support his successor in the Zanu-PF party, Emmerson Mnangagwa, after being forced from office by the "party I founded".

"I cannot vote for those who tormented me," he said. "I will make my choice among the other 22 [candidates]."

Zimbabweans go to the polls on Monday in the first vote since Mr Mugabe was ousted in November.

Speaking from his home in the capital, Harare, on Sunday, the former president again said he had been "sacked" as part of a military coup and that he left office in order to "avoid conflict".

He said that he now wished the leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), Nelson Chamisa, well in Monday's vote.

"He seems to be doing well, and if he is elected I wish him well," he said.

When asked by the BBC's Fergal Keane if he would like to see Mr Chamisa gain power in Zimbabwe, Mr Mugabe, 94, indicated that he was the only viable candidate.
