Dear Bosses in the house I need some heads up on what’s you understand between Half Casing & Full Casing in Borehole.

I met a fellow landlord in the area I was building and he told me why go for FULL casing that the half casing is also good based on interactions he has had with geologists.

He said the rocks drilled cannot collapse but the sedimentary and sandy part will collapse hence the half casing will take care of this part hence one does not need to case the hard rock sections.

He also said some of this drillers can be tricky as they would know when the rock is struck and will use half casing and tell the client that its full casing they did for the client because the client had already paid for full casing. In this case the client loses because he paid for full casing but was given half casing.

Please what’s your thoughts on full casing and half casing in terms of advantages & disadvantages?

My Oga Bosses in the house, please I got a quote from someone that he will drill a borehole for meband need your inputs.

1.Full casing at NGN 7,500 per meter
2.Half casing (Hanging) at NGN 4,500 per meter.
3. Survey @ NGN 20,000.

The prevailing depth of existing borehole that I have heard in the area is from 70m to 150m depending on the topography of where you land are. For a site that was like 50m from where my land got water @ 70m.

IS THERE ANY FACTORS/AREAS I NEED TO ALSO LOOK OUT FOR

In my last project I bought 5mm glass for all the windows and the guy who assembled was like you're getting this quality because you got materials yourself.
Most materials sellers don’t even retail 5mm glass.

If you can just share 2 or 3 lines on items to buy, how to know which one is naija or imported aluminum frames etc this will be very helpful not just to me but other lovers of knowledge.

Here’s the only way to know if the quote is too high. Tell the contractor that you’re fine with the quote but you’ll like to supply all the materials and happy to pay his workmanship.

I guess the price he gave is Abuja price cos a generous me won’t pay more than 50 - 55k for a 1200 x 1400 casement window with burglary and net.
