PoliticsRe: Akpabio Would Have Stepped Down If Natasha Had Presented Any Evidence - Ubani by papyjaypaul: 1:22pm On Mar 31, 2025
Ubani himself has taken sides. If you want to be seen as independent, swallow your opinion and let the bellies of the lizard open its content.

You cannot trust any politician. Again, I repeat

YOU CANNOT TRUST ANY POLITICIAN.

So whether it's Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan or Mr Akpabio, let them play all their cards first before speaking for anyone of them lest they make a fool out of you.

Imagine what IBB is saying today about Abacha. Maybe if Abacha were alive, he too would have said "Babangida would have handed over power of Abiola did ____". You can't speak for anyone Mr Ubani, you of all people should know better. Power is dangerous when they have it. You can only speak for yourself and what you will do if it's your turn. Obasanjo once said your job is to advise but I don't need to take your advice. Every SA should know this and know peace.

There are other protests like Mohbad, Fuel Scarcity protests, Shiite Protest, BBOG, Abacha protests and so much more. What OP needs to understand is that there are different types of protest. There is no one type of protest that. Anything can lead to a protest. In 2001/2, Nigerians protested against the GSM companies by not calling or texting for one day. If you all decide to switch off your data for one day to protest against the high cost, something will be done. Not all protest has a leader and people participate for different reasons. Therefore there will always be selfish reasons. There is even hunger strike protest. You also don't need to be in support of every protest. One man's meat is another's poison. There are non violent protests that can bring bigger change than the revolution or fight you imagine. In the South West, if women come out naked, that is a form of protest to tell the government to go. Today, it's not that effective. Times change.

A protest is a way of letting your voice be heard. Despite the division, something will always unite people in protests.

Biodun556:
WHY THESE TWO AND OTHERS AREN'T ON FORBES BILLIONAIRE LIST.

OK, let me help some people who don't understand how the billionaire list is compiled.

People like Tony Elumelu, Adeleke etc that you didn't see their names on the forbes billionaire list in dollars even if their companies are worth billions of dollars like Adeleke whose company is worth 2.5bn dollars is because he is just the MAJORITY SHARE HOLDERS OF THE COMPANY AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE 2.5BN BILLION BELONG TO HIM . Other investors are among the owners, so his share is not up to a billion in that 2.5bn. But they will mention him as the owner because he has the largest share even if it isn't up to a billion dollars. Same with Tony, whose shares in Transcorp and UBA aren't up to a billion dollars, even if he is the largest share holder.

SO THE COMPANIES WORTH IS NOT THEIR PERSONAL WORTH . IT IS CALLED PLC ( PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANIES) OWN BY MANY.

Women like more experienced men who age like fine wine. That's why women in 30s to 40s find it difficult to mate with men younger than them. Also divorced women would rather go after a married man than an unmarried man because there are some things in nature you can't cheat. Look at any magazine where they want to connect singles and see what older women want. This 'low self worth' you call it is very very very common. Experience is golden.

Guess what came to mind. Last week I was watching the father's mausoleum. I now thought about households who buried their matriarch or patriarch in the house and over the years, the children exhumed the bodies and transferred it to another place. Some people did it because of religion, some people did it for money but it is a reminder that you don't own your body, only your soul is yours. They thought that till infinity, the children will never remove their body from where they wished to be buried, alas, just after 1 generation, the grandchildren moved your body to a new site. Your last wishes can be easily disobeyed, ask Wigwe. We can't even control who will succeed us or if we will go before our parents. When you're alive, they call you somebody, when you're dead, they call you THE BODY. It's not even nobody, it's THE BODY. So control what you can and let your soul be at peace, let the living take care of the troubles of earth.

Men and women that say God forbid, if I die my spouse cannot marry another person. I laugh in 3D. Enjoy yourself on earth while you can and be the torch of joy to others. Live and let 'leave'.

Why do you think the younger brother won't end up in jail from a manslaughter charge?
2 fighting ¶

One died in the hospital, the other survived. They both suffered injuries. There was no intention to kill neither was it premeditated. Therefore he has defenceman under the following:

1. Self defense: he was defending himself. How do we know his brother didn't start the fight?

2. Intent: he can claim he didn't intend to fight but was forced to because his brother started fighting him

3. Cause of death: there could be underlying factors leading to the death of his brother. Was it the fight or did someone give him a news in the hospital bed to raise his BP and he died? We have all assumed the fight caused his death but it could be something else

4. Police: it was in the report that the Police came to the scene. Their presence is very important, they are like eyewitness. They will also take the statement of the survivor and the dead? grin

He can also say that he and his brother had a good relationship and things were going on well until that day. He has a good case to defend himself.

And that sums it up really. There's nothing more to add.

^^^
I beg to disagree.

Part of the problem is the double standard that his more vicious supporters (and there are many of them on this platform) are so fond of. Yusuf Buhari is painted by some of them on this very thread as an idle slacker because at the age of 25 he crashed a motorbike while racing in Gwarinpa. Ok. Very fair argument.

But the BAT administration was barely a few weeks old before Nigerians were treated to the spectacle of 37 year old Seyi rollerblading on Abuja streets - with DSS officials running behind him and struggling to keep up. undecided The only difference is that Seyi didn't crash. Other than that, the tag of an idle slacker (flexing at the public's expense) would fit him like a glove too.

^^^
Again, not much more to add.

You just brought up the 'first daughter' who is perhaps even more of a handful than her brother. undecided Who can forget BudgIT's revelations about her expenses charged to the vice president's official budget a couple of years ago? undecided

We must not forget. The propaganda in the run up to the 2023 elections was terrible. Seyi was marketed by BAT media crew as some kind of prodigious advertising talent that the world had never seen before. undecided Well...those who were deceived by that nonsense now know better.

^^^
There you go.

In the midst of the crushing poverty and hopelessness that is the lot of millions of Nigerians, various 'first children' in the previous 2 administrations had their ostentatious weddings, not caring about the optics. But as bad as they were, they were not as brazen as the current 'first children'. You spoke earlier about the current 'first daughter' and her shenanigans. Her brother, Seyi will go on record as the first 'child' (at the grand old age of 37 undecided) of a president to gate crash Federal Executive Council meetings - to the point where his own father had to publicly upbraid him. undecided And these are the people held as the standard? huh
I couldn't agree more with you. You really can't give what you don't have. If he was really busy with his company, he won't have time following Daddy who is doing his job but Nigeria has got to a new low that it's difficult to discuss principles. The poverty caused by the elected class, in conjunction with the elite has permeated every sphere of public discourse.

Abuse of public office and public resources is now taken with levity undecided To make it worse, the poverty induced supporters think it's about jealousy rather than protecting institutions. Today it's Tinubu that is there, after sometime even if he wants to be president for life, he will have to leave but Nigeria will remain. They don't think beyond their noses. IBB and Abiola's kids had their relationship while the masses were taking sides and they were fighting for their interests. I don't care about their personal lives when it come to state affairs because I elected them to work for me, if they love themselves they should work on their family because that will outlast any position they occupy.
PoliticsRe: Seyi Tinubu's Convoy & Entourage (Video, Photos) by papyjaypaul: 11:36am On Mar 28, 2025

^^^
Not exactly.

The children of virtually all Nigeria's leaders are not 'loved' by Nigerians - and for good reason. But there are differences in their stories.

Yusuf Buhari was riding a motorbike at high speed on Abuja roads when he almost got himself killed. He had to be flown out of the country for treatment at the taxpayer's expense - and many Nigerians were angry about this.

Yaradua's son was photographed holding a Kalashnikov with bales of hard currency in the background, at a time when millions of Nigerians were going through hardship. Naturally, many Nigerians were also angry about this.

If anything can be said in the defence of Buhari's son (and there isn't anything really), it was that he was young, careless and stupid. He was still unmarried when he crashed that bike. Yaradua's son was even far, far younger - and Simon Kolawole (or was it Segun Adeniyi?) wrote in his book that some security personnel in Aso Rock tricked the boy into posing for the photograph with the firearm and the money. But that's no excuse - his parents should have taken better care of their son to avoid that kind of situation in the first place - if indeed the story is true.

If no excuses can be made for the Buhari and Yaradua boys, then none can be made for the adult Seyi Tinubu. The point is that the current 'first son' is far older than the Buhari and Yaradua boys were, when their fathers were in office. The current 'first son' is a married man with children of his own. Unfortunately, he is more well known for influence peddling and other stuff like that - than anything of real value. That's the real tragedy here.
I agree with you. Segun Adeniyi was working with Yar Adua then.

For his age, Seyi should be more discerning but you can't give what you don't have. You simply cannot. But I will cut him some slack. Some people feel he was high when he praised his father and I agree a bit because he has presented himself properly in other interviews

Between Seyi and the Iyaloja, I think it's better to manage Seyi's conduct. Rarely do we see the children of Presidents behaving well or staying out of the limelight. The danger of campaigning for his father, which he is entitled to is that he will draw the ire of the youth, the base he is supposed to appeal to. Like you ask, what does he do? They'll say he owns an outdoor media agency. Ask how he got that and his father's capture of Lagos is in photocopy.

I think Buhari reigned in on his son after that accident and they reduced the public appearances, including the announcement that he is not on Twitter but that didn't change anything. His wedding showed flamboyance like Jonathan's daughter's wedding.

As at the time he said it, Nigeria was facing a serious problem with drug trafficking home and abroad. The get rich quick scheme made people become pushers and carriers. That's why in the early Nollywood movies in the 90s, there were scenes about drug trafficking and court scenes. Then Nollywood will portray the children of 'rich people' suffering from overdose and drug abuse. They were trying to show that blood money has karma one way or the other.

The 80s was a notorious time for traffickers in the world. Pablo Escobar was also escaping USA around this time. Let me give you a timeline.

December 29, 1989
The NDLEA was established by the promulgation of decree no. 48 of 29th, December 1989, now an act of parliament whose major target was aimed at exterminating illicit drug trafficking and consumption.

APRIL 10, 1985

Three Nigerians shot for drug possession
LAGOS, Nigeria -- Three Nigerian men convicted of illegal possession of cocaine and heroin were publicly executed Wednesday by a military firing squad.

Several thousand people watched the execution outside the Kirikiri maximum security prison.

Police and soldiers had trouble controlling the crowd, drawn by radio and television publicity. Lagos state radio said a number of people fainted when the six-man execution squad fired.

Bartholomew Azubike Owoh, 26, a former employee of the Nigeria Airways, Lawal Akanni Ojuolape, 30, a spare parts dealer, and Bernard Ogedengbe, 29, a sailor, were condemned separately by a military tribunal last December.

Owoh smiled broadly, waved to reporters and prayed in front of the execution stake before he was tied to it, witnesses said.

'If I knew peddling in hard drugs would result in death I would not have done it,' he said.

Ojuolape, convicted of possessing more than 2 pounds of cocaine, also prayed before being tied to the stake.

'I am eating the fruit of my misdeed. ... It was my first time out on the cocaine business but I was caught,' he said.

The executions took 5 minutes to complete. The victims were loaded into rough coffins for burial at Atan cemetery in Lagos.

The three men were the first Nigerians executed under Decree 20 - which makes drug possession and trafficking and illegal dealings in oil punishable by death.

The decree is the result of a crackdown on crime and corruption by the government of Maj. Gen. Mohammed Buhari, which seized power in a coup Dec. 31, 1983. The Buhari government has declared 'war against indiscipline.'
