Politics › Re: Daniel Bwala Vs Rufai Oseni: Don’t Ask Me Questions Like I’m A Secondary Student by papyjaypaul: 4:51pm On Feb 11, 2025
Rufai will call Trump names that he can never use on Tinubu. When he talks foreign policy,he goes south.

Choiceone1:
U think journalism is to romance politicians like NTA does ? U don't know the meaning of interrogation and interaction
You don't invite guests to interrogate them, otherwise they will never honor your invitation. You can use journalism skills to ask them questions that will get the same response. One day, the host of BBC Hard Talk asked Obasanjo a question, our President was annoyed and asked him if he could ask Tony Blair that. The job is a dirty job but if your guests see you as someone who is interrogating them, they won't answer you unless you are police that has the power.
Politics › Re: Daniel Bwala Vs Rufai Oseni: Don’t Ask Me Questions Like I’m A Secondary Student by papyjaypaul:
I just saw the interview. Here are the things to note:

1. It comes with age. Those who like Rufai's style are typically young people who want their voices heard. They want gragra and see Rufai as someone who speaks truth to power. They think he is bold. True, Rufai will call you out and I like some of what he does but it can be irritating and that's not what a professional does. Those who don't like him think he is a small boy but he's been on air for a long time and he is good but he has his emotions hovering what he does. I follow him on VOP too so I know he is a brilliant guy but when you bring a guest to your show, there are 2 things you don't do. Don't stop them from responding. We want to hear from them, not you. The second is to not to ask long questions that are opinions. Once you give your opinions, you are already influencing their response.

When I saw the interview, I was somehow disappointed because the people who think Bwala was roasted are behaving like kids. In the scheme of things, Bwala cannot make any significant changes in Tinubu's government. He's a spokesman. This is the same way people wanted so much from Abati who was SA Media and not a cabinet member who can order his boss to do things. Nigerians are always looking for who will die for them in the battle they should fight for themselves. It's not Rufai's place to fight your battle. As a journalist,I was annoyed he did not take advantage of educating Nigerians on what this current administration is doing so that Bwala can make a fool of himself. You don't need to embarrass him on air because he changed ship, what you should do is to ask him questions that will make him look foolish when he is answering. You have not won anything because politicians have no shame.

Allow them to fool themselves. Play the clip of before and after and watch how they sweat. I think Rufai should let his guests talk and stop lecturing us. If you want to ask a question, go straight to it. Don't start lecturing us for 2 mins before asking a question. Maybe bachelorhood is why he's like this but he can do better and stop trying to win every fight. Just let your guests fool themselves with tactical questions. It's because of your style they set trap for you on that BRT lane and you too see that no one is infallible. None of us is perfect, keep speaking truth to power but be tactical in how you do your job Rufai and you'll stand out. Many have come before you and many will be after you but be careful of those people who want you to sacrifice your life for them and hiding behind buttons online. Do your job well.

As you can clearly see from what you posted, I said small quantities are considered trivial, and large quantities are considered major. Which part says it is legal? Does trivial mean legal?
I don't understand why you are shifting the goal posts and I think maybe you're trying to grandstand. I'm not here to prove anything but when someone says 'the law considers trivial and a certain quantity that is considered major crime', is that law legal or another kind of law? You seem to be contradicting yourself. I have quoted Nigerian law to you but you are talking about trivial and what not. You can't say the law considers a quantity trivial or major when the law itself outrightly bans any possession of it in the first place.

If you take this across the border, whether it's 1mg or 5kg, you have committed a crime. They don't care about the amount, that's just for measurement.

Hope you get it now? wink

Lol, no.

Every form of drug use is substance abuse., However that term includes more than just illegal drugs. It can also include the abuse of medicines like codeine and legal intoxicants like alcohol.

That's not relevant here.

The point I was making is that there is a certain quantity of Marijuana consumption that the law considers trivial and a certain quantity that is considered major crime.
The possession of cannabis is illegal and punishable by a minimum sentence of 12 years in Nigeria.

Adeshina is a good candidate but look at the comments above, Nigeria is so divided across tribe and religion that reason is second place.

I love his vision for Nigeria and Africa but character is everything. Nigerians are not ready for good governance. They saw Osinbajo, they took him away. They saw Obi, they chased him away. Both Atiku and Tinubu of APC and PDP and all of them join together are interested in personal interests aka politics above nationhood. Forget it.

Politics › Re: LEMU Imam To Muslims: Vote Out Candidates Who Oppose Sharia by papyjaypaul: 12:57pm On Feb 10, 2025
Tendd:
I knew this will eventually come up.In other words,Tinubu's re-election bid is in question if he doesn't asset or make a bold statement of advocating for Sharia in the SW region. Also,a litmus test of his faith.Well, the South West, whether Muslims, Christians, traditionalists etc already has witnessed the effects of Sharia in the North.
It's no litmus test. Read my last post here, it's politics. What they tell the people in the North is different from what they tell people in the South. However, Obi's emergence caused all of these. What they are not factoring is that young people today don't really care about your religion, they want to see you prove who you are. This divide and rule politics is old school already but our politicians can't see it. I said it that by 2026, something they never expected will come around and sway the people. It does not even have to be Obi, in fact, it may not be Obi at all but the thing that comes out will be a joker card and the response they thought they had with religious divide will fall like a pack of cards.
Politics › Re: LEMU Imam To Muslims: Vote Out Candidates Who Oppose Sharia by papyjaypaul: 12:44pm On Feb 10, 2025
papyjaypaul:
This sharia topic is politics.

Let me tell you why.

In 2027, Obi will run against Tinubu. Now what do you use to divide the South? We know most of the South South and South East has Christians and there are more Muslims in SW. So to divide the people further, they want to do what northerners do whereby they will call you a kafir for voting an Obi who is not a Muslim. SW and southerners are largely liberal but the election will not only be about who is from the South, it will be about who is from what religion in the South. In their thinking, northerners will not vote a Christian but they will be shocked because Obi got votes in the North. Our political elites are only interested in destruction for power and APC is an evil party that sowed the seed of destruction within us online. That was their MO in 2023, they want you to think Igbos are the problem but no one benefits regardless of your religion or tribe. It's all about power. 2027 will be a Muslim vs Christian vote and that's what APC wants. Guys, as Obi always ask, is salt cheaper for you at the market because you are APC or PDP?

They want Muslims in the SW to not vote for a non Believer, the same extremist mentality used in the North. Now, more Muslims in SW are abandoning Yoruba culture and becoming more Arabs than the Arabs. It's all a ploy, religious fanaticism and extremism. SW people don't care but they are gradually putting that extreme views into them so they become like the northerners who use religion to deceive their people. I hope Yoruba people don't disappoint the education Awolowo gave them. The reason why Yoruba people have never let religion divide them aside culture is EDUCATION. Think deeply and you see that the enemy is within, not outside. May politicians who divide us be punished for their evil agenda. I don't usually curse but a BIG AMEN because it's sad to see how things have become.

You are very observant. I think if they featured, they will win a lot of awards because they are acoustic. I also think religion is why they keep it as it is. I call bs!

I have seen adults with very little common sense who don't know their left from rights and I have seen brilliant teenagers as well. The tendency to always class people based on age is absolutely laughable.

Elders and adults have been running Nigeria aground since independence. What is the outcome? How do we know what's on their minds without engaging with them? The purpose of an argument is to establish truth and has nothing to do with your age.
Ageism is a problem in Nigeria and you are spot on. What's interesting is that there is a popular character here that I will never argue with and this person is not a kid. People like them have come and gone over the years. We all know who I am talking about. Has nothing to do with age.

The owner has not presented himself in the best manner on some issues, has nothing to do with age.

I beg to differ OP. Everyone is wise until they open their mouths, let's know what is in people's mind so we don't give them automatic promotion they don't deserve. Elders in their 90s are doing something wrong but because of age and respect, we have to keep quiet and look the other way undecided

I think this issue will cost the President the next election. We already have tribalism and Muslim Muslim ticket. The way they keep dividing us, they'll make it a religious election and the rhetorics are not making it any better.

This is why people cannot see it as a non partisan issue because the ingredients in the kitchen and the food that has been cooked in the past will not make it a good food.
