Moneysage: I have a curious question for folks here whose offices are close to Onyeama's...not some prophet from wherever Is it possible that no one is buying these shares that are being sold and that someone somewhere is just returning them to the basket of OS? Who are those buying these shares for crying out loud? "I really wanna understand this" (in the voice of Kirk Whalum) cc: nna m PW Bro, till the market shut down in 08 people were mopping up mehn. There is always a buyer and a seller for every trade (or in select cases a market maker). Folks are always full of hope that things will head back north right after they buy a stock at a supposed discount, hence the falling knives saying. Its always good to wait for a solid retracement. You wont buy at the lowest low but you stand a better chance of dodging a falling knife. |

bigass: You seemingly right time to re-enter may be wrong afterall. Madam, I take it you are also a trader. Your present decision to hold and my decision to exit many positions has yielded visible results for both of us. My future timing may be right and it may be wrong. Gone are the days when one has to fax/phone/email a broker as regards when to enter or exit. I am an itrader, and a firm believer in the use of stop losses. |

bigass: A friend of mine asked me, how do i reacted to all these people that seem to be happy with the bear and i said....silence.because they are losing too if they are not losing they are not gaining. Cc all of you You can only be happy with the bear if you have cash. If you did not cash out before the bear, you wont have as much cash. Many on here are sitting on a pile of cash as they bailed out early. They are gaining as the market plummets further. Like someone said, soon you will buy 1 and get 4 free. Cc all of you too |

That spirit will not take us to anywhere but destruction. So if you have it, you really have to work on it. Ogbeni, what exactly does the bolded mean? I pointed out a post of yours that had no factual basis. It was believed then and liked by your supporters club, and as the truth set folks free, they went back to unlike it. Simples. |

myjoy08: Sir, stock market has been a catalyst of knowing and understanding individual perspectives when it comes to how emotions run our investment believes particularly as it concerns our returns on investment. I'm not here to defend WT or Oando not releasing results but u really need to understand that it is not the way we think or assume (assumptions is not d best way to determine business or investment success...but assurance). Sir, certainty, the result will be release for sure. Well if retail or local investors are not buying Oando shares right now, certainly the institutional investors are mopping presently at a faster rate! My little advice... The post above had about "6 likes" on the 11th of Sept when it was made. I just had a look at it now. Alas, it has only one left. |

myjoy08: Sir, i will advise you not to sell out of fear and loose your hard earned money. Regret is the outcome of such decision if things go other way round. Remember what Haruki Murakami said in his quote "After all, what does stock market sell us if not the unfounded hope of a rosy future". IT IS WELL! Sir, anyone who sold early in October is a lot better off now. The major factors influencing the bear have not changed since then. But, equities have shed a lot since then. Remember what Haruki Murakami said in his quote "Donkey shit everywhere. Here a shit, there a shit, the whole world is donkey shit" . IT IS WELL! |

4dchairman: The first law of investment, nobody can confidently predict the direction of the market. Warren Buffet's Berkshire Inc recently pulled out of Tesco due to poor performance. Second law , investment is a risk, the higher the risk, the higher the return. Third law , do not invest what you can loose. Experience is your best teacher. Finally, the best time to invest is now because the market is down and it can only go up. Wishing you all the best. There you have it in bold. |

4dchairman: Definitely the institutional investors both foreign and local started the stampede. The we are those that lost confidence in market. I include myself because I'm tempted to exit my position and regretted that I took the position earlier. Notwithstanding, we need to regain believe for the market to rebound. Sir, all of us on here do not own enough shares/can mop up enough shares to make the market rebound. It is one thing to psyche ourselves up, but the reality is that moving against the tide/stampede does get bloody! |

4dchairman: The underlying word is panic and fear, the fundamentals of the economy is good, we expect a growth rate of over 5%, the recent slash in cement price can kick start the construction boom. My opinion is that we need to regain confidence in our economy and the future of the country. As long we continue to be in the panic mode stock prices will fall . My chairman, please define the WE sir. Is it all the investors on the NSE including the oyinbos or the odd 50 of us here on NSEMPA? |

Agbalowomeri: Ha bros, na only transcorp dey ur portfolio? what if u had exited at the trough (base) of the bear? My critic of ur action is that u did not have a plan and u just succumbed to your emotions, otherwise you would have exited long before loosing > 10% if that was your plan. My loss (since the bear starts) is still around 10% and even if I loose 30% I am not shaken because I know the quality of the stock I hold, and most importantly the cash is not needed till eternity Very well said Sir. At least a few good points have come out of the banter here since yesterday. - Have a plan - Decide on what you are: long term investor or speculator - Don't invest your short term funds in the stock market if you are not a long termer |
