Raider76: People use the rules to manipulate. Why should a stock that closed on bid yesterday open 5% lower today, just because some people are allowed to bid what they want before full market open? stokfrick: Exactly my thoughts! They make the rules such that they can exploit it to suit themselves. Just look at d very strong bid right now on DAT stock. Yet it can't even move. That's d height of manipulation!! And some one is here talking of rules!! The answer to the "why" is market forces. If you bid high it would open high. You did not and neither did anyone else. All are allowed to bid during pre-market. As to manipulation, it didnt open high and so is within the permitted price range for the day. I guess i should leave you all to your conspiracy theories. |

Raider76: But why are they keeping the price band so narrow? You can't bid more than N0.90. Are some people holding it low so they can accumulate first? @ all: Spend time to learn the rules from the NSE website. Its a treasure trove of information and will avoid you getting misled. Pay attention to the price limits, it will help dispel all these conspiracy theories. http://www.nse.com.ng/products/equities/market-structure |

In plain language, portfolio managers decided to help their end of year reports. It happens the world over (first reported by Yale Hirsch in his Stock Traders Almanac in 1972) and is known as "fund managers window dressing" or the "December effect". |

Elai147: The demand and supply thing was artificially created. They have the price where they want it and are now ready to bid it up to where they want it before stabilizing the price. The men in black were responsible for more than 80% of the huge offers we have been witnessing in the past week. They started reducing the offers over time thereby creating an artificial display of gradual interest in the stock as offers were reducing and then all of a sudden, and on a Monday morning, offers disappeared completely and the stock is on full bid. They didn't clear the offers on ground. They made the offers disappear by opening the price at the usual -5% during pre-open but unlike before, after the stock opened at 5.71, there were no new offers at a further -5% as we witnessed throughout last week. People didn't adjust their offer prices (N5.71) by a further -5% before the bid started coming in just immediately after pre-open. Those who have the bravery to enter now may benefit from uncle Wale's attempt to stabilize the price. Some may find it dificult to break-even unless you are "audacious" enough to average up . This is just my observation. Sir, I mean no disrespect. I however disagree with all this men in black conspiracy BS. Remember this is not monopoly money. If stocks are offered for sale, it is because there is a willing seller at that price. When there is a bid, there is a willing buyer at that price. The decline in offers was because many decided to hold than to sell at such a discount to their original purchase price. I am sure you saw how supply nearly outstripped the demand just before the end of the business day. |

Manonamission: Actually, ref price is N5.71. You can only bid +/- 5% of this price. Thanks for the above. @Raider76 remember its a dynamic environment. Folks who didnt buy/sell last week can buy/sell now depending on their financial circumstance i.e availability of/need for funds. Nothing fishy is going on. The laws of demand and supply are just being upheld. |

Just a little over a year ago, Dexter, myself and a few others were almost crucified for speaking out against the "optimism" of a certain Nobody as regards Oando. Aside of the corporate governance issues with the company, as a geologist, it was glaring then that Oando should have renegotiated the ConocoPhillips deal as their purchase price was too high. I exited on the 1st of Sept 2014, and faced the wrath of folks here who were hoping to see Oando at #100 within 6months. Dexter couldnt take the insults and crude remarks from the Oando faithful, he actually stopped posting here. And thus many missed his FO call in June of this year. The price of Crude oil will be bearish for some time to come. If in doubt, google the term "iran oil exports". |

davide470: Company that recently gave a 30kobo dividend for a 50kobo stock. c60% dividend yield. Lol. The "beauty" about it, is that the free float can be compared to that of Forte Oil, which as you know has made some people smile a lot
Also, RAK Unity is a "silent subsidiary" of Sahara Group and Sahara is entering the market next year. Do the maths.
#MyVeryPersonalView. #NotaRecommendation Sir, said stock has not traded once in the last 52 weeks. To get in on the fantastic dividend yield, one must own the stock. To own it, one has to buy. To buy it, one must find a willing seller . |

PETERiCHY: Stop loss is meant for short term traders, if not I would advice him to starve his loss by averaging down since the price is low. I bought my OANDO btw N32 and N9:20k my average currently stood @ N13:28k after 14months of waiting game. |
