Eriokanmi: I got his point, clearly. Cutting off the head isnt the solution to headache. Had Americans run to Europe or Asia, would they have been able to solve their problems? Every working nation had a history of bad governance. Even till today, they still kidnap in America but now minimised with the technology in place. Now, it's gun violence.
The bad leaders wont live forever. They're dying gradually already. Even those who have refused to die keep falling without touching them. Can they buy time forever? Before I came back, Indians were dominant in this sector but we've reduced their activities to size, with the aid of the local content.
Please read about the history of America. Ghana was worse than Nigeria at a time. It's not same situation anymore. In all these nations you're comparing and citing as an excuse for us to accept the prevailing quagmire, bear in mind that there was at least some level of political will to tackle the problems! - that's what makes the difference. If Nigerians are seeing such political will to fix these issues, then we can all talk about optimism and patriotism. For many years now, the litany of problems have only gotten from bad to worse and progressively worse. Now, teenagers kidnapp friends and even go as far as murdering their friends even after collecting ransom, bandits are invading communities and community monarchs are fleeing, etc..etc..while the government is busy with 2027 elections to perpetuate themselves in office even from the first day in office! - These only shows you that these societal ills are getting worse while the ruling class turn blind eye and deaf ears! So, don't blame people who aren't comfortable residing in a country that can not guarantee their safety or comfort and also NOT making any plan to tackle the complaints of the masses. Money isn't everything! Peace is everything first, before money. Otherwise, you won't enjoy that money o! |

Eriokanmi: Your palaver. Nigeria is my home. I be african man, original.
The below is a summary of my story.
I schooled and came back. But before returning I had had a mindset that the west would honour me rather than me honour them one day. I came hit the sector in which I'm much more relevant and even inviting experts to help for a fee today. Back in the days I used to hear oil spill here and there, people wailing that their lands have been destroyed, shell paying hugely on compensation, pipelines being hit at remote places which can be tackled real-time without even paying a visit to the creeks with the IIOT . Thanks to Starlink
Today, we've taken over the share of the market by 30% as an indigenous firm. By the time Dangote commences crude exploration, we'd have become the topmost indigenous company in our line of business in hazardous mgt.
As Nigerian, I had had the opportunity of meeting with the American president inside the DAAR hall near the White house, the only one from black Africa where the son of any country's president has never been. There's power in the tongue. I remembered when I said the west would honour me rather than me doing so and it came to pass. Tony Blair was the 2nd notable figure met, though years after his exit as British PM.
Those who wish to stay put in a foreign land, its ok. But If you stay there, who will fix Nigeria, Chinese, Indians and others who are busy taking advantage of us, conniving with our corrupt leaders? No way!
Anytime I come here and preach good governance and leadership devoid of corruption, their gullible followers always kick. They think they're more Nigerian than I am. It's high time we changed our mindset. America was once a super corrupt nation. Read the history of America. Kidnapping reigning today in Nigeria was once a norm at a time.
Benin republic used to be a hot bed of kickbacks and corruption. Their gendams no dey gree rest once they see Nigerians in those days. Same Benin republic is now rid of corruption. Enter cotonou you'll think you're in France. Light no dey dim, no solar panels littering their buildings as we have it in Nigeria today as a result of leadership failure. Their currency that used to be worst in africa has now left the almighty naira behind. A lot of african nations are achieving steady progress without making noise.
Vote out bad leaders who have refused to leave the space, despite falling down without being touched and seeking medical treatment every 3 months overseas. How will they concentrate on fixing Nigeria?. Ask tinubu the meaning of AI, he doesn't know anything. Their policies are archaic and anti people. I wonder if sentiments will put food at our desk. Enough said Nigeria might have worked for you , congratulations! But how many people has it worked for? He's not talking about individual achievements, he's talking about having systems that work - systems ensuring security of lives and properties, hospitals with facilities, societies with social amenities - good roads without one-way drivers, traffic lights that work, 24/7 electricity, communities that don't get raided by bandits and everyone goes about the next day like nothing happened, school children kidnapped enmasse for several years, kidnappings becoming an industry, ùnsafe foods and fake medicines, inflation hitting the roof, minimum wage the lowest etc etc..almost an endless list. |

7 DoctorAyukebot: Thank you for the enlightenment. Its safe to say Cameroonian lecturers are in paradise. I have got a PhD in Pharmacognosy and strictly have never considered the academia.
The truth is a lecturer looks beyond financial gain with the ability to pass on knowledge being of utmost zeal. Frankly even at a starting salary of 2.5 million I wouldn't consider a lecturer's job. Kudos to you and others for the impact you make in the educational sector.

spencekat: My daughter attends that school. I will try and find out. Don't bother! I work in a federal university (a very popular one). The payslip you see up there is genuine, real, and the truth. Federal Universities are a little higher by 3k. So, a Lecturer II earns 136k. As a Lecturer II, I earned 136k. Nothing more, nothing less! For those saying lecturers have other benefits that translate to extra income, you all are jokers o! There's not a penny extra anywhere. At Lecturer l (after 3 years, with more publications) your salary moves to 156k, and after an additional 3 years with more publications (12 minimum) you're promoted to a senior Lecturer and salary moves to 270k or 300k if you've accumulated more years on the previous level. A professors net salary is between 380k - 420k. That's the peak. ASUU has been fighting and trying to educate the public to no avail. The salary is miserable. Anyways, I resigned I happily left the poverty stricken system! |

Revman: I have been on this journey since 2019.
Wrote my first IELTS and got LRSW 9987, CRS was 463 then COVID hit and everything went downhill from there. Watching time run out on my IELTS was one of the most painful things, I was so pained that I just ignored Canada.
Last month a friend encouraged me to write IELTS and enter the pool again. I did on the 24th and got LRSW 9888. I was so afraid but thank God I passed. CRS is now 445 due to age. The pain no be here.
Meanwhile I did a tech course in 2022 and pivoted because law is not a cross-border profession. I also dabbled into farming during COVID because man must chop.
As it stands now na only God fit run this Canada PR for me and I am writing this post just to put it out there that I will not write this traumatic IELTS again and my ECA will not expire in my hand without me and my family getting our PR.
Currently also learning french. I have suffered on top this matter.
Tired of feeling down about this so I just had to let it out. Pardon my rant abeg.
Oluwa please show up for your girl. Any which way na way. Don't give up yet pls. Wish you could pm. Try the PNP route! |

Brunobia: Lol I guess many of us on this journey feel the same way. When I started this my japa journey in 2020 nobody in my institution was even thinking of japaring. I'm still here after over 2 years. Not even an ITA or NOI. Over 200 staff in my workplace (federal university) have japaed and gone. Although 98% went to UK so that's what I use to console myself. But I weep inside. Wondering who did I offend. Why did I not start this journey in 2018 when the crs cut off was friendly. My perfect ielts expired early this year. I had already sworn I was not taking it again that canada can go and use their head to hit wall lol But when I saw more and more persons japaring from my institution even those I never thought would leave I decided to write again. I really went to the exam center with an I don't care attitude cos I was demotivated and so over the whole thing. I was even practicing on my French app while waiting for the ielts exam to start...lol.to show you how I really didn't give 2 fcks about them. Result came out 3 days later (I took the computer based test) LRSW 8.5, 9, 8, 7.5 I'm sitting at exactly your score now due to my age. I felt akin to your comment cos our scores are almost at par and we both gave up at one time. Cheers! Dont give up yet! |

Greetings folks, I received Federal ITA following my SINP Nomination (total points now 973). However, I'm not able to apply now due to financial constraints. I've been through some very major expenses lately! I havent spent a dime from my POF as I fixed it in Investments, but I used the one set aside for the application fees for myself and spouse (about $1800 = CAD$2,400 equivalent). I'm not even sure of getting the money in the next 60days. My question is - Am I allowed to decline the application now pending on when I'm able to raise the money? My nomination is till valid till November. |

Mcslize: I don't know much about WEMA ALAT. Maybe you can ask tunlex01 for more insight.
As for bolded, they are not on play store. It's through the web address you can access it below.
https://me.geegpay.africa
Note: They require international passport for verification. Thanks, I downloaded it. However, their rate is relatively high @ N698 to a dollar. Wema Alat seems to be offering N488! The only caveat is that it "Will not make payments on sites that require 3D secure authentication" I have visited the VETASSESS portal severally to no avail to confirm if they require 3D secure authentication. |
Travel › Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by pato405(m): 1:58am On Sep 04, 2022 |
Mcslize: You may want to try geegpay. They have a USD virtual card that can be used to make payment of any sort online. They have a naira and USD account.
All you have to do is create an account with them, transfer Naira into the naira account if you are in Nigeria and use the naira to fund the virtual USD card at their own rate directly which you can use to make payment of any kind.
That's what some persons are using to make payment online.
Disclaimer: Kindly do your own research about them first. Thanks. I couldn't find it on playstore. Can WEMA ALAT dollar card be used instead? There is, however, a caveat on WEMA ALAT that says "Please note that card can not be used on 3 D secure site and for money transfer'? Is Vetassess site, 3D secure? |
