Ellexy, I clearly addressed the first 4 paragraphs to donj and the last one to amoto.
You don't expect to change a system from the outside rather, from the inside. Amoto is a muslim so, with his level of education he can start pushing for some reforms among his peers. Their disposition to him and his argument will clearly differ to their disposition towards Donj for example...
To effect change is not easy... |

Ellexy: First you said we should respect people's beliefs and realities, well Amoto clearly believes that blasphemy in his religion is a capital offense which is punishable by death.
Now calling on him to renounce and condemn this belief and reality means you don't really respect it as you said earlier and calling for adjustment means non-Muslims in the North should accept they deserve to die cos of mere words as this is the reality of their hosts.
While I encourage people to respect the realities of others, it is not wrong for educated folks to push for some form of reforms and that's what I stated there... He rightly condemned the act of violence but he still thinks the punishment of blasphemy should be death however not carried out by a mob. I think with certain level of education and exposure, we have to start pushing for reforms. I am only saying this to amoto because I can see he is literate but I won't go about trying to appeal to the conscience of an almajiri... |

donjazet, you need to know when to slow down. As much as I condemn what happened in Sokoto a couple of days ago, I will urge all and sundry to respect the beliefs and realities of your host wherever you find yourself...
I find myself questioning religion as a whole but I know when to say what. Trust me, they are Christians who are also extremist and when I find myself in such places, I rather keep numb...
The way you're on this amoto case tells more of a beef you're yet to squash.
No matter what you think, learn to adjust to the realities of a people. It's wisdom...
Amoto, on your part, considering your level of literacy, one will expect to read you condemning the act as you did and also kick against death penalty for any case of blasphemy... |

saintkeppy: His Excellency, Donald Duke tried his best to keep Calabar Clean&Green, Street lighting @night, security & impressive nightlife among the residents in the city throughout his 8years(1999-2007) as Governor of Cross River State. Donald Duke set up CUDA with the responsibility in taking care of the Calabar city. He replicated &established Urban Development Authourity in other major towns like Ugep, Ikom, Obudu&Ogoja to cater for those towns. Major Roads &streets were massively rehabilitated in the entire Calabar city with Street lights &the other 4 Towns.
Subsequent Governors who came after him struggles to keep Cross River State on that level.
Calabar, indeed Cross River state became a destination of choice, which attracted tourists, businesses & investments to the state. Young school leavers picked UniCAL as their University of choice as a result of friendly& natural ambience Calabar city had to offer. We all hoped & expect Prof. Ben Ayade to maintain the culture of cleanliness&orderliness Calabar was known for, but unfortunately he has performed poorly in this regard. Maybe a southern senatorial district(Calabar) Governor will do the needful in the next dispensation.
No other Governor does it better than a Calabar Governor H.E Donald Duke proved this. Duke did a while lot for the urban areas while Liyel focused on opening up the rural areas whilst not entirely neglecting the urban areas but Ayade, a supposed Professor came in and scattered everything...His industrialization drive has not yielded no fruits and might likely not yield. Cross River has wasted 8 years with two Professors at the helm of affairs...It's a shame. |

ChristoBam: Which more marketable right backs would we have gotten?
And you said it yourself. They hype! Marketability comes with hype. The players are expensive because of they're overhyped. But that hypes make them more marketable.
Same hype Bissaka had that made us splash 50m even with all the obvious deficiencies. If it had gone well, man will probably be doing tours with Tom Holland. It's not about marketability as AWB isn't even marketable. It's not like we signed Tomiyasu or Trent for you to be referring to their marketability... I talked about hype regarding Maguire because you brought in Koulibaly as if he was the only other good CB around. The club just wanted an answer for the defender Van Dijk turned out to be for Liverpool and went ahead to fall for the English hype job and not necessarily because Maguire is marketable... |

Bissaka was the most popular among the lots when he was signed as well. Out of all the Right backs, they went for the obvious, popular one that they thought would also be an England international.
So a scout brings a list of CBs at that point with equal or better qualities at that point. We'll go for Maguire. If Maguire wasn't available and it was Kiloubaly that was in that list, they'll go for him. Are you for real? Maguire? We bought into the hype. They're players out there who will not cost a fortune but no, we are United, we must go for the most priced players... |

I understand the Glazers have funded tye club and Woodward in his cluelessness wasted the money by overpaying for players and handing them bumper contracts but why didn't the Glazers fire him seeing that our on field performance didn't reflect their huge investment? They are supposed to conduct periodic assessment (Evaluation) as owners to check progress against the resources they have invested in the team. You can't fault an employee completely without looking at the role of the owner...

All powerful men have money but not all rich men have power...
The current minister of State for Power, Jedy Agba is among the richest Cross Riverian around. He was a top executive in the NNPC. In 2014, when Liyel Imoke was very sick, the likes of Victor Ndoma Egba and other top politicians in Cross River State were bought into the Jedy Agba's frenzy and proceeded to present him to GEJ as the consensus candidate of the PDP and even managed to temporarily wrestled the leadership of the party from Imoke via the ward congresses across the State but when Liyel was well enough, he put his power to play and asked all the other aspirants to bring the bag (Money needed alongside his power). Only Ayade could afford it, the same Ayade that Liyel had earlier told to return to the Senate...
Liyel relocated temporarily to Abuja and began the power play and at the end, the ward congress was canceled for a rescheduled one that handed back the leadership structure of the party to Liyel...
Consequence for the action of those who dared Liyel? Ndoma Egba lost his bid to return to the Senate even when he was the incumbent leader of the Senate...
If it was just about money alone, Jedy Agba would have been the Governor of Cross River State but Power proved again that Power is Power... |

Ellexy: Midfield and a striker. I will opt for a RB, LB, 1 DM, I CM and less likely, a CF (Depends largely on whether Ronaldo stays or goes elsewhere)... That's 5 incomings. We shouldn't forget that with the likes of Pogba, Lingard, Matic, Mata, Bailly, and Cavani leaving as well as the possibility of AWB, Telles/Shaw, Martial, Ronaldo? and Rashford leaving, we will be saving alot from their weekly wages thus the possibility signing 6 - 7 players isn't farfetched... Dalot and Telles will most likely remain. we need a good team playing pattern. if roles are defined, some players can look better than they actually are. United must get rid of AWB, Telles, Shaw, Bailly, Maguire at all cost. Get solid replacement for Matic, Mata and Pogba.
We can do with Academy Graduates to cover for RB and LB. Laird can compete with Dalot. Fernandez and Williams can compete for LB.
Pau Torres seems a target, hopefully he's not gonna flop. €20m + Bailly should be a fair deal to get Pau Torres. Academy graduates to cover for LB and RB? I don't think it's a good move, as back ups then fine but not as starters. We need to sign quality full backs... |

GloryIsaac: Honestly, he just couldn’t do that. They will sabotage him like they’ve done to the previous coaches. There’s a reason ETH specifically wanted total control of squad management before signing with the club.
Why is it that the new persons coming into the club are specifically demanding total control? Rangnick did it, ETH too has done it.
The way the club has been set up, the players are simply more powerful than the coach, and they have the media solidly behind them. It’s just not easy. If you bin them for younger players, they find a way to get you kicked out. If you play them, they can’t keep up with instructions. Then you have the faces in top management, the ones we don’t see.
Even Ronaldo had similar issues when he joined and was making demands from them on the pitch. Have you noticed that he doesn’t complain like before anymore? Man has realized that things are simply not as it used to be when he left.
Even Bruno doesn’t complain anymore. Nobody wants to be the target of a rebellion. DDG can talk as much as he wants because he’s in-between the sticks and has spent over a decade here.
Isn’t it weird that Father of gengenpress’s team cannot gengenpress? See the way the man stands on the touch line, shows hopelessness.
If an incoming coach has to specifically ask for “total control” in his contract, that’s enough to tell you how rotten the club is. He stuck with the senior players to what end? At some point, a coach has to make that tough decision. Talking about control over incomings and outgoings, I think Rangnick and LVG as well as some ex players must have spoken to Ten Hag because ordinarily, ETH has not gotten to the level where he can force the club to stick to his terms or bounce... |
