nitrogen:Fellaini - Moyes Schneiderlin, Schweini, Depay, Martial, Blind - Van Gaal Lukaku, Pogba, Bailly, Lindelof, Mkhitaryan - Mou Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, James, Bruno - Ole... See how different managers bought according to their own philosophy. Now, how many of those players are still at the club or starting games? If you don't get the philosophy point, check how Lopetegui performed when he tried to play possession football at Madrid... |
nitrogen:When I mention philosophy, I'm on about what pattern of play we want to adopt as a club. Looking at Liverpool, after Klopp, do you see them going after Mourinho or Simeone? I think not, rather, they'd be looking at Nagelsmann or Tuchel... |
I have been following the argument closely and TBH, it makes for a good read... I used to be anti-Glazers whilst Fergie was here because they just didn't splash the cash on quality players as one would've expected. Our midfield was left unattended to for years and whilst we lost key players, they didn't do enough to replace them but over the past couple of years, they've invested in the squad hugely maybe because we started missing out on Europe altogether (sounds plausible)... The reason why we are still struggling even when the Glazers have brought out the cheque book is because we don't have a football philosophy to guide our player purchases and that's why we desperately need a football man to run to football aspect of the club. Van Gaal came and signed his men, Mourinho came and signed the players he likes which are quite different from the kind of players we signed under Van Gaal and now, Ole is buying his own players. If sacked, we might opt for another manager with an entirely different footballing philosophy... The club needs to have a direction wherein, player acquisition and manager change will depend on whether or he can fit in our system that way, a new manager will come in and doesn't need a complete clear out like what Pep wanted at Chelsea... |
Leyqute:Hahaha make I find who I go sell. Make I go Chelsea thread... |
Odizeey is only saying with the right formation and tactics, some of the Players we malign here will blossom, not that we should get back the players we have sold. Ole's man management is top notch, he just needs to get the tactical/technical side right for him to become one of the top rated coaches around... On transfers, una sure say we no go start contribution here so we fit get Sancho? |
chidexxy007:He is comfortable on both wings... I really don't know why there's a glaring lack of options when considering the RW... |
nani667:This man...lol |
"But whom I threw out" Obaseki is not so smart after all... |
If not Sancho, I'll prefer Neres but he wasn't lucky with injuries this past season... |
pkasso:Na why I no dey too like some banter here...Overtime, I have identified monikers here who are matured (Not age wise though) and can hold a convo without resorting to insult...As much as I enjoy the banter, sometimes, some of us overreact which is really not necessary... Enjoy yourself bro... |
pkasso:Since when you start to vex anyhow? Wetin dey sup? |
handelex:Lol I no be Oga o! If you no explain yourself well for here, them fit drag you like tiger generator...I never recover from the dragging wey Lemar dey cause me, I no want another one... ![]() |
eph12:We can look at other alternatives...Neres of Ajax for a start... Sancho might not perform so well next season and his price will drop. We have seen it before with Nabil Fekir, Zaha etc... |
We have missed the aerial presence of Fellini and Smalling, something I had expected from Maguire... NB: I didn't say we have missed Fellaini and Smalling, I am only referring to their aerial advantage which you would expect that a guy like Maguire should make up for. Worst thing is that every set piece is targeted at Maguire even when it's obvious it isn't working... |
eph12:Check my previous post, I have criticized Martial in more than 3 post. For me, we should get Sancho (To play RWF but can comfortably play on the left if Martial and Rashford start their nonsense with Greenwood as the RWF) and a striker, not an Ighalo or Zlatan but one at the peak of his powers to either send Martial and Rashford to the bench or have them raise their game to keep their place in the team...No time for mediocrity again. |
The Judiciary remains the most corrupt arm of government and their corruption is doing more harm to the court than any other arm of government because an upright Judiciary is enough to have the Executive and Legislative arm of government in check... |
afrodoc2:I have never been a fan right from time as I rather my fullbacks have the ability to attack and defend in almost equal measure...I subtly dropped hints here that I wasn't comfortable with his style but I didn't want it to sound like I have an agenda against the lad... He might get away with his style in the league, but in Europe he'll definitely get found out like yesterday where Reguilon's overlapping runs meant he was often caught flat-footed...1 vs 1 he is almost unbeatable but when there's movement around him, you get to see his inadequacies... |
Leyqute:At some point, we have to look past that back problem just the same way we need to start asking questions of Ole away from the legend bias... I want the board to be ruthless, if a player or coach isn't delivering and hasn't earned to right to have us exercise patience we him, he should be binned... |
Wan-Bissaka, when do we start seriously talking about him? He is just too bad in attack to play for a club like ours...The opposition defenders know he isn't a threat at all so all they do is focus on Greenwood...I noticed how the Sevilla defenders tried as much as they could to limit Greenwood from taking any shot at goal. Every time the ball got to Wan-Bissaka, rather than close him down, their left back preferred to track the run of Greenwood just because they know Wan-Bissaka is useless in attack... Having said that, we need to vary our attacking play, it's not everytime you try a one-two pass and move even in a crowded defense, take a shot at goal or put crosses into the box, Martial isn't known for his aerial prowess but how about low drills into the box like Manchester City do often? The personnel is average so too is the coaching... |
odizeey:Exactly, with Klopp you could see what he was trying to implement though the personnel let him down... It's the same with Lampard now, away from banter, when you watch Chelsea play, you just know deep inside that with the right additions, Lampard looks like he will go on and do great... Also, check Arteta at Arsenal and you see a coach who is hell bent on implementing his ideas and is going about it the right way. It was here we talked about how he went about neutralizing the threat of Chelsea whilst hitting them on the counter using balls over the top, that's a coach who knows the tactical side of the game. With Ole what exactly do you get? The same clown who said the squad needed a massive clear out when he just joined managed to ship out players who could even do a job any day whilst keeping the very worst here...Smalling was loaned out while Jones was retained and handed a new deal (OMG!), Lukaku was shipped out only for us to go get Ighalo who you don't even trust... When fans had a go at Ed, same Ole came out to say he was happy with his squad and could prosecute a whole season with them but now, he has seen that his approach isn't the best and the same players aren't good enough, he is out publicly asking for reinforcement... When it comes to making big decisions on big nights, count Ole out because he just doesn't have the balls to have a go at underperforming players during a game or take them off outrightly... Martial knows he doesn't have a competitor, same with Rashford and even Greenwood just because Ole won't give Ighalo and the other players a chance to fight his beloveths for a place in the team... |
Lana1:The timing of the sub was wrong especially after it was obvious Rashford and Martial had an off night especially Rashford...One would have expected Ole to bring in Ighalo for Rashford and shift Martial to the left but no, baba refused... |
Expert17:Thank you for this post...Ole just doesn't have the guts to make big decisions when a game is on going, his game management is shit...Nobody should tell me about the quality on the bench because Ole came out to say he was satisfied with his team at the start of the season. After seeing Rashford perform so poorly and Martial miss chance after chance, one would expect Ole to have a go at them like Bruno did Lindelof but no, baba go sit down Cross leg like say him trouser don tear... |
Our attackers played a terrible game, I think we all agree on that but Ole, what a poor coach he is, Sevilla's coach made 3 subs in a bid to change the game but Ole just couldn't and didn't react, baba will sit down forming rubbish... Rashford and Martial played rubbish especially Rashford but you won't see Ole scolding the guys nor will he take them off just so they know they have to fight for their place in the team...Ole is out of his depths, 3 semis and we can't make one final is unacceptable, definitely not in a serious team. For those who are asking that he stays, what exactly has he done here or elsewhere fo us to keep the faith? |
Martial, what rubbish! I hate what I am seeing... |
ChristineC:They are doubling up on him that's why he is struggling...I expect Greenwood to do more to support him... |
Rashford has been piss poor...He should be doing better there.... |
