weedtaker: b.s ... so DDG was made the highest paid GK in the league to be performing like ospina abi gomes Compared to his contemporaries, he is called upon to make more saves often than not. I knew you will come up with this defense, the fact De Gea has made as much save as he has is only a pointer to the fact that our defensive organization is very poor. |

weedtaker: we're 2nd on the log, those with improved gameplay, fancy tricks and orisi-risi are actually behind us, the only manager doing better than jose in the league is pep and that's a FACT! Liverpool are behind us and also in the UCL, I'm quite sure a host of you will only realize how bad a season we have had if we finish 2nd/3rd and go trophyless and on the other hand, Pool finish 3rd and win the UCL or Spurs win the fa cup. It's probable for now but come the end of the season, you'll realize how bad a season this has been... |

afrodoc2: By playing a right-footed Young at LB, an inward drifting Sanchez at LW, an offensively limited Val at RB and inward drifting Mata at RW, Mourinho has crippled all our wing play. We now find it difficult to beat teams schematically, and have to resort to effort, work rate, desire e.t.c to win games. Furthermore, the narrow and ponderous set up makes it easier for even mediocre teams to sit deep and nullify us. Mourinho will most likely be here for at least next season, if he fails to win the league, then he should be butted out. Left for me, he should be gone now, we have no identity under him, poor at defending (nobody should point to the number of goals conceded cos that's only down to De Gea's superb form), our midfield can't control games and our attack us disjointed at best...He has not improved our play save for our league position and to be honest that's not good enough... We might even the lose the 2nd position if we continue playing poorly like we did vs West Brom |

usbcable: And what if real Madrid win the UCL? Does it guarantee CR the BDO?
Can you guys just get your brains out of your arses.
This is a world cup year. And the WC is greater than the UCL except for the year 2000 where we were all surprised with how Messi was awarded the award despite doing zilch in South Africa.
That said don't run ahead of yourselves again. Real hasn't won the UCL and Barca hasn't won the CDR( I pray Sevilla does) At the moment, Messi is sure about LA Liga and in the final of the CDR, Ronaldo is in the UCL semis and that's it, anything can happen... The hype about the world cup is dead as far as Ronaldo and Messi are concerned, only Neymar would pose a threat if he won the world cup at the moment. |

sebod: Your post is directed at me so permit me to reply you. I have been on this thread for years and there's never a time rival fans have deserted this thread. If we win, it's uefalona, if we loose, it's trolling galore. So, I wouldn't know why I would be posting in order to get applause of any kind.
Almost all the Cules here have testified to the fact that it's only Barca that could stop Madrid from winning another UCL, hence, the incessant plea to give us Madrid even in the QF. And now that Barca are out after bottling a 4-1 lead, it's just painful to admit that Madrid are on course already even though nothing is guaranteed yet.
We have seen Messi win the league and the CDR before only for CR7 to still claim the much coveted award by winning the UCL. So, congratulating Madrid and CR7 ahead is just a way of venting ones frustration after the painful and unexpected exit and has nothing doing with wishing Madrid well. We did same last season after crashing out of the UCL in the QF while Madrid went on to lift the trophy.
Madrid seem sure to have a better chance at winning the UCL than Argentina winning the world cup. Madrid are only in the semi finals and are up against Bayern, Juup Hynckes coaches Bayern, not Pep so anything can happen and even if they win, they still have the final to play for. Messi on the other hand is guaranteed to win La Liga and has an even better chance of winning another trophy (CDR) than Ronaldo (UCL) so your post was wrong on many fronts... If Real Madrid don't advance to the finals or lose the finals, all of Ronaldo's goals then amounts to nothing... |

Barcelona is guaranteed La Liga and is in the final of the Copa Del Rey yet a supposed fan of the club thinks Real Madrid reaching the semi finals of the UCL all but guarantees CR7 the Balon d'Or title how exactly? I feel the comment was made just to garner applause from rival fans who had flooded this thread. If Ronaldo doesn't win the UCL and Messi wins La Liga and the Copa Del Rey, it will take a big performance from Ronaldo and Portugal in the world cup for Ronaldo to win it and this is fact... |

Eruditor: That Arsenal team better than this one ? Yes.
But Liverpool..Chelsea..Tottenham are waaay better than the ones in that year so balances it out more than well.
United with 78points compete with a team that has 84 after 32 games. Haba. Now, you need to take the difference in decades, in periods under consideration. If you can make excuse for the spending of Pep against Fergie citing inflation, I'm sure you'd also want to consider the quality of teams both came up against in the league and UCL, in 1999 we won the league, UCL and the fa cup, I'm sure the fact that we played deep in to those competitions played a role in our overall point total in the EPL. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 9:40am On Apr 08, 2018 |
Eruditor: United Treble the team had 78points to Arsenal's 77. Beat Arsenal 2-1 after Dennis Berg missed a penalty FA Cup semis. Scored 2 late goals to win the UCL.
Arsene could very well have done that double.
But that team was miles ahead of a City team that has 84 by Match day 32. When we talk about the amount Pep has spent compared to Fergie, you run around shouting inflation but look at you making reference to the point gap back then, how about we tell you that the Arsenal team in question back then was miles ahead of the one Pep is up against and that United team would have gone toe to toe with the present Man City team? You see, the point gap you're highlighting only shows you how good a competition we were up against... This is the premier league, we have seen it all, Andrew Johnson came and scored so much but after that season? He disappeared like the fart of a leprosy witch (coogar of blessed memory) Darren Bent nkor? Papisse Cisse most recently came and was scoring all manner of outstanding goals but where e dey now? Talking managers, where's Ranieri? Where is that Portuguese guy that was sacked recently by Watford, remember he was the rave of the moment after his stint with Hull City? Who is talking about Conte now? It takes more than a season of fine performances and winning trophies to be reckoned with. |

raumdeuter: Longest winning streak in every league he played. If he can stay for 30yrs like Faggotson at the richest club, I am sure he will make more than 4 CL and win more than 2 titles It's even more difficult to reach the top of the chain and still remain there, building championship winning teams after another...It's no wonder other coaches are struggling to replicate such feat, it isn't quite as easy to maintain the same drive after winning it all with a particular club. |

I didn't watch the first half cos it was raining seriously down here, from the highlights and commentary, it's obvious we didn't press as well as we should have neither did we attack as a unit. In the second half, where I started watching the game, we attacked with pace and precision and defended as a unit, this should be the hallmark of our play... I guess we were all disappointed in our play especially in the first half, at least from the comments here from even staunch fans of Mou, nobody was happy but we managed to turn things around and credit must go to Mou for the way we approached the game after the break. One a personal note, Sanchez had a cracker of a game, his forward play was spot on, it can only get better. Herrera was also very good, that chest down for the first goal was great, that's where he is obviously better than McTonimay, that uncanny ability to burst forward and make things happen. With Herrera, you're guaranteed at least 1 or 2 through balls to the striker, he might not always get it right but he'll try. He also has a good understanding with Valencia, I particularly enjoy their give and go play. Congrats red devils world over... |

joeace2020: That's all there is to it. Raiola is rattled, his answer is as dumb as they come, the club has the last word on every player transfer so his statement doesn't even have an atom of sense in it. As it is now, this revelation indicates Pogba wants out whichever you look at it. If the player doesn't want to leave, the agent will not wh0re him around. Let's sell him when we can and get players ready to focus on football and not hairstyles. All the time he's been here, he's made headlines more for other things that his football, now it's about having his hair dyed blue on a derby day. If we still had keane, na abolo e for carry cum match. And to imagine we want to build a team around a player like this. Ferguson saw ahead of time so he got rid of the arrogant kid and his greedy agent. Just tired of his antics.
