It will amount to telling yourself a lie if you look at our midfield and think we are good to go for the season. When I saw our lineup vs Everton, I hinted that we could do with a midfielder for the money we plan to spend on Sesko, that's how much I think of our midfield as the one area we need to fix...

I am just tired of some folks here. That other dude keeps posting our opening fixtures as if the rest of us don't have access to the internet.

Imagine him mentioning Leon and Heaven among the players we have acquired just to push a silly narrative...Leon and Heaven are for the future, Amorim has gone about addressing some of the problem areas with the signings so far but we all agree we need a goalie, DM and a CF to really stand a chance...Some might even argue that we can make do with a DM and CM and make do with what we have in attack.

Let us see if the club can fill these positions with quality players before we start panicking.

I understand that our midfield obviously needs improvement but like Amorim noted, if the defenders were not caught walking instead of sprinting towards the edge of the box, that first goal doesn't happen.

We need the whole team to be in sync. When attacking, the midfield should be able to push higher up the pitch, joined by the defence, else our press will easily be bypassed by the opponent. I saw several instances yesterday when the attackers were pressing, but only the wingers pushed higher up the other side pitch to join the press while the midfielders and defenders didn't bother to burst a sweat.

During one play, Heaven delayed his pass, drawing three Everton players towards him before delivering an excellent ball to Casemiro. Unfortunately, Baba lost possession because he no longer has the speed or awareness he once did.

Dorgu should take the time to watch videos of Jordi Alba. He should have simply squared the ball to Hojlund for an easy tap-in.

I just can't stand Bruno and his misplaced passes. He almost always opts for the difficult pass when a simple pass would do...

Casemiro is finished at this level, why is he still at the club?

Defensively we are all over the place when attacked. No reason for Amad to have played that ball against Heaven in that position, if he was a bit calm then the own goal doesn't happen...This is not excusing Bruno for losing possession leading to the goal...

Seeing the lineup, I will not be surprised if the club channels their resources elsewhere and tries out Mbeumo as CF with Hojlund as an option from the bench.

They were intentional with their plans and successfully enticed prospective signings with large scale projects and humongous wages

Comparing them with the present Newcastle United is the greatest agenda driven opinion on these pages

Will the Newcastle owners be able to inject this kind of funds into the club without getting into trouble with FFP?

Adisa, you are talking about the spending of Newcastle in comparison to City without considering FFP which is what is keeping Newcastle in check...

How did City start again? Newcastle have the funds to burn, it's just FFP that's keeping them in check else they'd have signed some of the best players in Europe and start competing for the league and other important trophies.

It is not unheard of for a player to speak to the manager of the club interested in his signature so I don't know why you are making a big deal out of it.

Time after time, we have seen clubs fail to sign certain players, and they move on afterwards. Why should our own case be any different?

Newcastle are just desperate that's why they rushed to submit that offer.

I like the approach of the club towards this Sesko transfer...If he gives us the all clear, we put in a bid but if he doesn't, we walk No point putting in a bid of let's say $80m when you are not sure if the striker to accept to join the club because doing that will mean that other clubs will up the fees of their players knowing that you have such money to spend...

My position was quite clear - if a player is deliberating between Joining Man utd and Newcastle, it's a clear reminder that the mighty has fallen!

If we are at a point where extra persuasion is needed before a player chooses us ahead of Newcastle, Spurs and the likes, its a further testament to the depths to which the club has sunk.

Sesko potentially becoming the 3rd player to allegedly reject us in one Transfer window, is another issue entirely. Hopefully, it wouldn't get to that stage.

Most players will opt to speak with the manager to understand the manager's plan and the direction the club is headed. There's nothing to it...

Newcastle has UCL football to offer, but even then, Sesko has not decided, and when he does, it will be in his best interest...If he chooses to come here, then fine but if he opts for Newcastle, it's his choice. Yoro opted to join us over Madrid just last season but it doesn't mean we are bigger than Madrid or that they're struggling to attract players.

This is exactly the point - we are now at an all-time low such that players are thinking it through before picking us over Newcastle, Spurs and the likes.

Mbeumo chose to come here rather than Newcastle or Spurs a few weeks ago, so I don't know what you're on about...

I am not a Liverpool fan and I am not trolling...You were quick to dismiss the chances of Liverpool ahead of the new season of a friendly loss and that is the point I am trying to correct.

We are working on it. The boy is one of the most talented England Under-18 league players i have ever watched in detail. Even the old timers who have seen it all are having to go back to Wilshere and Rooney for the last 15-year-olds to be this dominant.

I just hope he goes on to fulfil his potential but not at Arsenal rather, Old Trafford...

Terminate their contract instead of paying them for doing nothing. Let the club come to an agreement with the players and have their contracts terminated...Arsenal did it with Tomiyasu, Juventus did it with Khedira and many other cases.

This club is not serious...Arsenal cut ties with Tomiyasu but we are still parading Shaw in big 2025.

The likes of Casemiro, Collyer, Shaw, Dalot, Maguire, Mount, Antony, Garnacho and Onana should be sold before we end up losing them for free...

Luiz Diaz is on his way out, Ibrahim Konate is on his way out. Their attack and defence are led by an ageing Salah and VVD respectively. The formation that won last season has scattered, this one will struggle to live up to last season's standards. Liverpool will struggle this season. Quote this post for future reference!

MacAllister does it better. It's between Szboszlai and Wirtz...Liverpool have at least 2 players for each position...It's only in the CB department where they're light.

3 man midfield better than 2 man midfield and their fullbacks are not defensively good especially frimpong.

Wirtz will drop deeper when defending and advance when they're on the attack just like Szboszlai did last season.
