noblefarm: I have been trying to reach u @pavore, I dunno how to reach u so I decide to use here. pls how can u help me with apple seedlings, I heard its available in Kenya and one can send that to Nigeria tru DHL. I was told to contact kephis. can u help me out? I want to try it in Nigeria here. thanks
DHL? l doubt that! A seedling costs about N2,100 and one needs the KEPHIS Certificate to leave the country with it. lf you have anyone visiting Nairobi, l can help you arrange for the seedlings and the KEPHIS Certificate.
Have they finished killing themselves? They got independence from Sudan and the world thought theywere now on a path of growth only to disappoint by going into war within themselves all because of resources!
pamdaniel: thanks so much bro... I would let u kn of my findings
l think their market day is Oye, that is when it is best to go there as you would get to see lots of people there, that is where women from Enugu town go and buy foodstuff and firewood for resell.
Last night here in Nairobi, l watched the weekly program agribusiness programme called Smart farm and got to watch this inspiring episode focused on Vertical Sack Farming, Where a man has been farming in a 45ft by 75ft space which is not even up to half a plot was highlighted. l will just do some commentary based on the programme but it is better one watch/download the 4mins video as it would go a long way to motivate one.
The vertical sack farming will do well for crops like lettuce, curry, parsley which would fetch good returns. For every sack, a mixture of 5 wheelbarrows of soil and 5 wheelbarrows of manure is needed to fill it. The 45ft by 75ft space contains 100 bags which has Spinach growing on the sides of the bags and Parsley on the top, it takes one and half month to harvest his spinach. An average of 100 spinach seeds around planted around each sack and the owner makes N200,000 monthly from the sales of harvest from the 100 bags.
Adapting it to our local needs growing lettuce around the sides and curry on the top will do well as l know these two fetch good returns in the market........l miss fresh curry whenever l cook stew!
pamdaniel: what part of ngwo or Nike can lease out land so I can be specific in my research
l can't recall Ngwo's but for Nike the Ugwogo community has a huge stretch of fallow land, if the roads have been fixed it should be about 20mins drive from Abakpa Nike. l hope this helps.
Skanas: Like seriously ah wonder y this sweet topic wit great economic value is jst dormant.... Am working on this too for my m.sc project though I will only be comparing gas production for cow dung, poultry waste as against different mix ratios of both manure, using a manometer to measure water displacement by the produced gas for 5-7days.... Would be following this topic cos I intend to go commercial on this in the near future.....u guys who have been there and done that pls kip the thread alive Cc slurry,FarmTech,Pavore9 etc
lt is dormant because many prefer the romance section and insulting each other in the Politics section!
N11m watch? There are some who live ostentatious lifestyles but visit the village they come from their community cannot boast of good source of drinking water when the cost of one of their luxury items can easily provide it for their community!
l thought they also said Buhari is Boko Haram's godfather? lt is high time some people purge themselves of hate and face the reality that Buhari is their President as long as they are still Nigerians!
