Can it be grown in any part of the country or is there a particular region suitable for growing it

pls how can one get these seedlings
It can be grown across Nigeria. Someone who is a top politician already has an orchard of it in the South west (l am not permitted to mention his name) l am told when he visited Kenya, he travelled to the apple farm/nursery which is about 2 hours drive from Nairobi and bought 200 seedling @ $11 per seedling, got his permit from KEPHIS (The Kenyan agency responsible for certifying plants than goes in and out of the country) and travelled with it back to Nigeria.

thanks my brother. i ordered the seeds, expecting them soon. but i recieved my grape and strawberry seeds, planted them yesterday
Where is the apple seedlings coming in from? l hope you keep a close watch on your nursery. What colour is your grape?
AgricultureRe: Growing The Red Stark Apple. by Pavore9(mod):
Water the seedling either in the mornings or evenings. The variety is disease resistant thus no need for any chenical spraying. It starts fruiting from the 9th month and harvesting is from 4 to 6 weeks post fruiting. It fruits twice a year and one harvests between 50 to 100 apples per harvest from the apple tree.

AgricultureRe: Growing The Red Stark Apple. by Pavore9(mod): 10:03am On Mar 25, 2015
After planting, water with 20 litres of water to help its growth then mulch it to prevent direct sunlight to the soil so that the water does not evaporate.

AgricultureRe: Growing The Red Stark Apple. by Pavore9(mod): 9:40am On Mar 25, 2015
Preparing the land for planting the Redstark apple seedling. A hole of 2ft deep should be dug. The length and breadth of the hole should also be 2ft respectively.

The spacing from one seedling to another should not be less than 8 and half feet.

BusinessRe: I Think Fruit Business Is Very Lucrative by Pavore9: 8:18am On Mar 25, 2015
macandy21:
Fruit business in Nigeria should one of the lucrative business in Nigeria, out of curiosity I went to price the mangoes (pics below) at oil mill market here in Port Harcourt, I was told it's sold 3 for N200. I even priced N150 for three and was refused.

On my way home, I started thinking, if mangoes are sold for N50 each and land still goes for less than N80,000 per plot in my village. Why should I cry of unemployment.

A full grown tree can produce up to 500 fruit per year, if I have lets say just 20 trees, that will be 10000 fruits, multiplied by N50 will give N500,000 and what's the cost of production. I will just have to work for the first year, wait for it for another 4 years and bam.

I can even start a small garden relaxation point/ Sports viewing centre under the trees.

Self employed for life, just rinse and repeat.

Is this wishful thinking or somebody thinking like me?
Why should you wait for it for 4 years to produce? Go for early maturity variety. All those imported apples you are seeing in Nigeria markets are grown and harvested within one year!

Dear Pavore9,

Any progress on this sir?

BR
I have been contacting those l worked with years back around Nsukka-Adani-Omasi region but none seem to still have the contact of the guy who showed us around his ukwa nursery and this was way back 2009!

I will still be on it to get you a link to the seedlings, on lighter note you have provoked my tongue to salivate as it has been long l tasted ukwa. grin

Food for thought....'If a man plants ten breadfruit trees in his life, which he can do in about an hour, he would completely fulfil his duty to his own as well as future generations'.

I have an ongoing work on this biogas of a thing, because it remains one area that will drastically reduce cost of production for farmers.
it will surely do as it provides biogas for electricity, heating up of incubators etc. l will soon do a detailed post on post-harvest preservation of vegetables which would be ideal for our rural-folks as they can utilize those metal boxes hidden under their beds! cheesy
AgricultureRe: Generating Electricity And Packaging Cooking Gas In Cylinders From Cow Waste. by Pavore9(mod): 7:07pm On Mar 17, 2015
Curiouscity:
The bold statements above is the bane of true development in Nigeria. We are too selfish!! While the 'white-man' is jealous that we Africans live a communal life, we are trying hard to segregate and out-do one another. What stops a whole community from having one large biodigester in a corner of the community, then the output distributed to people's home? What happens to the communities and communal life that we were known for?
Real Estate developers should be forward thinking in fostering communal resources, not only in the case of biogas, but other utilities. Imagine 10 tenants in a compound with ten different small generators ("I pass my neighbor"wink. Why can't the landlord buy one big gen and everyone pays for fuel as part of the rent?
At the rate we are going, real development is still far from us, even when many people among us are very rich.
l share your line of thought as communal approach yields more and saves costs.
