Greatzeus: Check out the difference between the Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, and the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, in the cartoon below. The words you will see are the views of Trump while reading the same words from the bottom are the views of Clinton.Brilliant and Classic You see, America isn't about Trump or Hillary. Boy, it is deeper than that. Politicians don't run anything in this country. Corporations do. The corporations determine what happens at the end of the day because they own the country. They own the banks, the power companies, oil companies, etc. You see, America isn't all what they make it seem. Dig deep and you will discover rotting corpses underneath. It will shock you to see Clinton and Trump wineing and dining after the dust has cleared up. America is rigged. It is a system governed by money and engineered by the elites and corporations, both of which Hillary and Trump belong. The people cannot win at the end of the day. It is hopeless. Politicians and presidents are just puppets of the corporations. If America was truly democratic, why do I have only 2 choices? Why can't I have 5 or 10 choices to choose from? When I want to cook soup, I have more than 2 choices. Why is it only Hillary or Trump that u have to choose from? |

Greatzeus: So who do you agree with? Personally I think Clinton is a good moral loving politician, but America is the most hated country in the world,it needs more than moral and niceness in a person. America needs someone who can take hard decisions even if they are not morally justified,in other to protect its citizens and economy from its vast enemies. Besides,American Presidents are chosen by the powers that be ,you don't just have a dream to become American President like Ben Carson, you are fooling yourself .Both Clinton and Trump are being sponsored by the powers that be,either way it goes, these people wins. They own everything that matters, from the world bank to IMF,to entertainment companies, shopping malls, schools, name it You clearly know nothing about America then. I guess you are in your Agege apartment and typing this shyt. Hillary Clinton is the most morally bankrupt politician in America. She is like a green slimy snake in the green geass. The woman is evil personified. She serves money alone. But really, why am I bothering to educate you? It's something you will never understand anyway. |

Everything shifts well, and the ride is smooth and very fast. I average about 30km/hr on it and ride about 72 miles every week on it. |

Nairaland General › Re: How Did Spammers Get Our E-Mail Addresses? by pdudy: 6:51pm On Aug 15, 2012 |
Seun: Valued Nairalanders,
Regarding the e-mail message that Nairaland did not send, people have been asking how the spammers got their email addresses.
Some people believe that the moderators supplied it, even though I've repeatedly re-assured them that we do not have any facility that exposes member emails to moderators. The only two ways a Nairalander can get your email are: (1) If you send them an email message through the forum. (2) If they send you an email message and you reply them.
Yet dozens or possibly hundreds of Nairalanders have been spammed. How did the spammers get all those e-mail addresses?
Well I've been getting bounce messages all day from people who got the spam message, so I tried searching the forum for their email addresses. I discovered that they all posted their email addresses publicly on the forum. Every single email I checked could be found on a public thread.
So all the spammers had to do was run a type of bot known as an email extractor on the forum. With the email extractor they downloaded hundreds of public pages on Nairaland, and extracted all the e-mail addresses posted publicly on those pages. Then they spammed the addresses they collected.
I don't think there's much we could have done to prevent this. If you post your email address on any public page/blog/forum on the Internet, you will be spammed.
So what can you do to protect yourself? The options are: (1) To never post your email address publicly, which is difficult if you're a public person or business person looking for customers. (2) To use an e-mail provider with very good spam management facilities - for example gmail - for email addresses you intend to post publicly on the Internet. In any case, you should cheerfully click the "mark as spam" button whenever you find a spam mail in your inbox. That's what it's meant for!
I hope you are satisfied by this explanation. Feel free to ask me any other questions you have related to this topic.
Have a great day! Just tell us your site was hacked. No biggie. You won't be the first and you won't be the last. Too much tori. |

andyanders: What you stated above is the truth on how nairaland member's emails got compromised. Seun, the moderator can NEVER be held liable as people can use any kind "extractor"of tools to extract members emails. What Seun did by alerting members is/was the best thing to have done to members on nairaland. So Seun, keep up your good work with your team. Long live Seun and long live Naraland members. Woe unto those people that hack these emails from nairaland. You are seeking kpech Abi? |

@Seun- I as a nairaland user was very angry at the recent developments cos I was sent the mail. But in expressing my displeasure, I was banned by you and your mods (my username pDude). Is this how to run a business? Like a Nazi?
I believe r231 should be disciplined by you (if you are serious about your site) because he was very rude and abusive to me and also he was very clueless to what was happening which make him an incompetent customer service representative. |

@r231- As you know, it is highly impossible to send someone a mail on nairaland except you and that person are connected (through the 'follow' link).
So we want to know how numerous users were sent that spam mail. Or were they all following the spammer? Correct me if I'm wrong.
And it seems you are mute about my questions. Nairaland and all our privacy information seems to be compromised. |

Moodie: Nairaland Email was spoofed, OK! Somehow they managed to lay hold of our e-mail addresses. Possible work around include setting up another email or deleting all private posts. That is well understood.
What about those of us that do not want to change our emails but want to exit the system altogether? Is there no other way e.g deactivation? If not, can you kindly profer the reason why?
Also, I made noted that I did not sign any contract when setting up my account e.g by ticking an "Agree" box. In the light of that what is my right concerning my posts, are they mine to do as i please or do they now belong to NL.
I am showing how this is connected with the topic, so it will be unfair if this is hidden as well.
Thirdly, some of these 'bad eggs' must have got to know us through certain threads we participated in, and while its fine to delete our post and leave a '.', it would serve us better to have our posts totally hidden away as if it was hidden by a Mod. So why can't we have the ability to hide our posts so we no longer appear on threads we dislike.
Finally, what is the real problem with account deactivation, and how do we block certain fellas sending private emails, and those we suspect of being fraudulent from viewing our activities ?
I will appreciate if these concerns can be addressed here in line with the advice from Seun about these 'bad eggs' so others can learn from it.
Thank you I hope the mods leave this as it is without hiding it. |

pDude: @r231- while Seun and his techies are trying hard to fix the ever-present bugs in his site, I wanna ask you a few questions and it will do you well to answer it because to some of us, our email addresses are meant to be private and we feel our privacy has just been violated by nairaland. The disclaimer Seun gave at the start of this thread is an obvious excuse. We are not stupid.
My questions: Why is it that it was the email addresses we used to sign into nairaland that received this spam mails?
Also why is it that it was mainly nairaland users that received these messages?
Where was our email addresses accessed from? Afterall, our emails are meant to be hidden inside the nairaland database and not made public.
Please your speedy reply would be needed. Reply with the same speed in which you use to hide our posts and ban us. @r231- these are the questions. They need answering. If you are not so high-handed and belligerent, but are attentive to our requests as a moderator, you would have known the particular questions I am talking about. But not so. |

@r231- hiding my post ain't gonna prove anything. We can be at this all day. Today is a fine summer day and I'm off work today. Some of us have up to 100 usernames on nairaland so don't be deceived that nairaland is about to hit 1million users.
Please answer my questions. |
