AgricultureRe: Need Info On Small Scale Tomato Farming by pejuhazel(op): 4:00pm On Nov 30, 2016
Thanks so much. Sunlight is not a problem at all especially now. For the container I was thinking of using regular flower pots although I've seen people use cement bags. Is it necessary to use the mesh and stones even when I'm using the flower pots?
I guess I have to start looking out for flower shops for the soil. Once again thank you.
Rubyintegrated:
Hello Pejuhazel,

I am not in Lagos but I hope to be as helpful as possible. So let's start with the basics:

1. Sun exposure on your balcony: Does your balcony receive a good sun exposure (5-8hrs per day)? if yes, you can proceed with your plan. If no, please do not bother as it will be a wasteful effort. Ideally, tomatoes should get full sun for 8 hours per day. They will still grow with less sun, but the shadier the conditions, the longer it takes for the fruit to ripen.

2. Container selection: Keep in mind that the more root space the plant has, the better the roots will grow. This will allow the top part of the plant to grow large. Tomatoes can grow to over 6-8 feet tall and 2 feet across, a half barrel sized pot (those sold for N800 here in Abuja) is just enough to accommodate the roots for that size plant. Small pots do make smaller plants but that also means a lot less fruit and many of the problems mentioned above.

3. Soil: You can get your top soil and manure from any gardener around your area. A cement bag full of top soil sells for N500 in Abuja while that of manure goes for N600. the darker the top soil, the better. You can the mix the two. 2 parts of top soil and 1 part of manure for starter.

4. Filling the container: while filling the container, remember that good drainage and healthy roots go together. So be fore add the mixture of top soil and manure, please layer a piece of wire mesh cut to size at the bottom of the pot. Then add some pebbles before adding the top soil/manure mixture.

5. Tomato seeds: You can easy buy seeds which are readily available in any agric shop around your area, but I would recommend that you pick/buy a couple of really ripe and beautiful tomatoes either in house or at the veg store, remove the seeds and dry them for a couple of days and plant them in a small container for onward transfer to the prep pot(s).

I will stop for now. Have to attend to business.....

I will continue when you are done with these and is ready to move on....

Hello, I would like to plant tomatoes at home. I live in Lagos in a rented apartment, so I have no garden space to use but I would like to use my balcony as its a bit spacious, so I would appreciate it if I can get any information on how to proceed, especially what soil to use and how to get it.
Thanks in advance.
PS: no adverts please and no, I will not buy your book or CD's.

Well done and your post is encouraging. Please I would like to know if you had to do anything to the seeds you got from your kitchen or if you just planted them straight. Thanks
AgricultureRe: Photos Of My Tomato Garden by pejuhazel(f): 10:55pm On Nov 21, 2016
I just came across this thread while I was researching about starting my own little tomato farm. I live in Lagos and I have no backyard, so I decided I'll plant my tomatoes in containers on my balcony. But I would like to know if the process is the same as if I'm planting directly in the ground, do I have to spray, apply fertilizer, do I also have to start from the nursery then transplant?
I would appreciate answers to these questions. Thanks in advance

Hello, sorry for the delay in reply. Your quantity is really small. If you're to get that quantity, it won't be printed on.

The price would also depend on the quantity, you can give me a range also when do you need them?

BusinessNeed Information Regarding Export by pejuhazel(op): 3:36pm On Mar 24, 2016
A little back story: my husband and I decided to go into export a year ago and we chose charcoal as our product, we registered our company and we affiliated ourselves with one of these export companies. This company promised to help us secure contracts and assist us in the delivery of our goods all for a fee, which we paid. But they turned out to be frauds. They overcharged and underpaid us what we were due. Now we are thinking of standing on our own.
We would like to expand our products to other agricultural produce but we require information about the following;
● what product(s) are best to export?
● where do we source for such product(s)?
● how to find buyers (not frauds)?
● how to ensure prompt and accurate payment from the buyers?
I would really appreciate help with either one or all of my questions.
Thanks

Its using too much products that causes it, I was in same boat as at last month, but since last week, my scalp hasn't itched. Just mix shampoo and salt, then condition your hair, then your normal haircream, don't add so much to your hair.
I'll reduce the quantity of products I apply to my hair but I'm not so sure about the salt thing, how does that help?

Are there any flakes falling out? You may have a skin infection, which would require a Dermatologist. I'd suggest going in to see a natural hair salon owner (Kemi Lewis, African Naturalista, Natural Nigerian or O' Naturals are women who understand the science of hair). I'm assuming that they will be honest enough to tell you "you need to see a skin doctor, a medically-trained one, not someone who claims he/she is". HTH
No flakes at all, just itching but thanks for your suggestion.

Hello ladies and gentlemen(if any) of this thread, I am in dire need of help and that's not an exaggeration; it's 1:11am and I can't sleep cos my scalp is itching, it feels like it's on fire.
My hair is natural and I have no dandruff but I noticed several months back that my scalp is very itchy, I've tried several things; acv, shikakai powder, aphogee 2mins re constructor etc. I decided to get a weave last Tuesday just to give my hair a break but now it feels like that was a bad idea cos the scalp won't stop itching.
PLEASE AND PLEASE I would appreciate any advice I can get on how to make it stop.
Now I have to take out the weave cry
Thanks in advance.

What's a gorilla snot?
SniperInADiaper: Try some gorilla snot.
That stuff is fabulous for holding twists.

Also try LOCing before the twists. This gives us the best results.
FashionRe: Beauty Of Natural Hair Thread :) by pejuhazel(f): 3:28pm On Jun 12, 2013
Thanks a lot.
I have always twisted my hair when it is damp but i'll try your method today and hope it turns out fine. I noticed my twists have gotten worse since i started using the hello hydration conditioner cos it leaves my hair dry and funny, so i'll try my old conditioner then twist my hair thereafter. *Fingers crossed*
Meddler: I usually get good twistout from twisting my hair while damp. The key I also realized is having my hair well moisturized too and detangled. Doing twist on dry hair for a twistout has never yielded me good results. Speaking from my experience three things that has helped me are:

Twisting on damp hair
Twisting on detangled, moisturized hair
and making sure the twist are well dried.

P.S. the longer the twist stays the better twistout results.

Please if anybody sees this,it is a cry for help.........
I can't for the life of me achieve a wonderful twist-out or flat twist and this makes me really sad, though I have always been challenged when it comes to styling my hair but I've been using this whole natural hair journey as a learning process, but I would love it if ANYONEcan provide pointers on how to get a rocking twists I will be eternally greatfull.
P.S. My hair isn't long and neither is it still at the TWA stage,it is at the awkward confusing stage.
Gracias all.

IslamRe: To Muslims who react violently to Video against Prophet Muhammed (SAW) by pejuhazel(f): 9:03am On Sep 17, 2012
This topic of religion is a very volatile one but let's not forget that regardless of ur religion,Muslim, christian,Buddhist, atheist, traditional worshipper or whatever,God has no religion,He doesn't favor one religion than the other,so u being a xtian or Muslim doesn't guarantee heaven, even Jesus warned d Pharisees who themselves knew so much about the law than regular people, so we shuld always strive for doing wat is right regardless of our religion nd acting as judge, jury and executioner towards others isn't right, remember let he without sin throw the first stone. Whether Jesus was ryt or Mohammed (saw) was ryt isn't d question bt we shuld all follow wat they teach nd neither taught violence nd also there's nothing any man can do to defend God, He created us all nd He's all-knowing.
