ashioba: Greetings great Nairalanders, kindly advise me. I am a lawyer in Nigeria, planning to move to BC through Visitors Visa, though I do not intend to come back to Naija. Please what are my chances of diverting into any other occupation that can lead to PR shortly. None, if your intention is to get a job and become a PR, then apply for a permanent resident visa. |

Thank God for your VO and stay positive. Accra is just a one kain VO now, they are faster now than last year but that hasn't reflected in the applications of some on us. They should sha answer soon, frustration is starting to set in. |

Sedehomon: Please house I need your help. I want to begin my ECA and write my Ielts but I'm quite confused as I don't know if I should use my maiden name or my married name in filling the forms because I'm in the process of getting a divorce and my passport bears my married name. I don't know if I should wait till the divorce is finalized and get a new passport with my maiden name before applying for an ECA and write my ielts or I should go ahead with my married name for both of them. won't it cause any discrepancies in my EE forms?
Thanks all. If you intend to use the passport bearing your ex-husband's name for the entire EE process, then I'll advise you use it for your ECA as well but if you plan to get a new passport with your maiden name, then use that for WES. True that WES doesn't require your passport but for the sake of the entire process, uniformity is what I'll advise. |

I'll suggest you send email to find out, also the contents of the email I posted are for Alberta so if you're planning to land somewhere else, the conditions might be different. |

A while back I asked a question about converting from CIMA to CPA, I said my school has an MoU with CIMA and because of this I will only be writing the SCS exam. I wanted to know if I will be eligible for conversion, I mailed CPA Alberta which is the Province I am hoping to land and this is the response I got:
Hi Peju,
Thank you for the clarification. Based on the information that you have provided in your email, you may not qualify for the current agreement with CIMA because of the MOU that your university has with them . The MRA states that you must have complete the entire CIMA program to be eligible to proceed. We will have to wait until you have become a member of CIMA to see how they classify the way you received your designation. CIMA applicants must also be employed and reside in Canada at the time of application for membership, which you have indicated you are not in Alberta yet.
It is important to note that the current MRA agreement is a legacy agreement and will be renegotiated by CPA Canada and CIMA, so there may be some changes by the time you have immigrated to Canada. At this time we are unsure of when this agreement will be renegotiated.
Thank you, Peju. Please contact us again once you have completed the program and have arrived in Alberta.
Hope someone finds this useful. |

chrisebsy: Hi Everybody,. i will need some input from the experts and from experienced hands.
1). Passports/Travel Documents (Multiple) (required) 3). Education (diplomas/degrees) (required) 5). marriage (required) 6). Police Certificates 7). Proof of Means of Financial Support (required)
. Digital photo (required) 9). Legal Name Change Note: My Major concern/doubt is section 3(Education) and Section 7 (proof of funds).
General Question i understand i can pay the application fee alone and defer the RPRF till when IRCC requests for it.What i don't understand is the bio-metrics fee. and how its been done.
Gratitude to all. 1) Biodata page of your current passport and any visa on it is fine. There was a discussion a while back about submitting old passports and I think the conclusion was stick with your recent to avoid confusion. 2) Fine 3) No need to include your transcripts, just merge your two ECA together with your IELTS TRF and submit in the placeholder for education. 4) Everything you have is fine. 5) Also fine 6) Fine 7) No need to submit bank statement since you have your fixed deposit certificate. I submitted just that and gift deed. Take the dimensions to the studio. 9) Nothing else You pay for your biometric fee at the point of submission, then about 60 days after you get a request to go do your biometrics. |

Adeime: Hello All Thank you for painstakingly explaining the processes involved . Hubby just finally agreed to commence the express entry process yesterday as he was vehemently against it ,However see my profile below Married ,age -29 hubby-37 Degree - PgCert UK; hubby -MSc Uk Hubby brother also moving to Canada soon as well as he’s gotten his PR When I took the CRS - Me as PA-498; Hubby as PA -450 all of these with the provisos that we get min of 8 in each of the IELTS categories and also with a blood relative with a PR
Now my questions are do I go ahead and submit my degree for ECA without the Nigeria BSC because I didn’t see that category listed in WES website or do I process my Nigeria BSC alongside as well
Also whilst we are expecting some funds by the end of the month, are there other things we should do other than pray and prepare for the IELTS exams I'm not entirely sure but I think you'll need to include your Bsc for your ECA since what you have is not an MSC, so you claim points for two or more certificate. You can start processing your transcripts and start trying get reference letter (s) from your place (s) of work. |

mydeporch: Thanks for ur reply. I am coming across suggestions online asking people to verify b.sc and masters together. One can not claim points for B.sc and masters at the same time, it has to be one of the highest qualification.right? Is this why it is advised to use only Masters... No need to include secondary school result if i am evaluating Masters degree only because it was earned abroad.?
Another concern...calcilated based on hubby as PA i got 440 but when i calculated with mine as PA, i got 456. due to age diff. and qualification.he has done his assessment with WES before..it was CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY Diploma (two years) and diploma (three years) and postgraduate certificate (one year).. What other thing can boost up his point....i just feel he has more work experience than me...5yrs.. Thanks olaneeran for ur reply.thanks to all who give up their time to reply us... You can only claim points for your highest degree only when it is either MSC, MBA or PHD. WAEC is required if your degree is from a Nigerian school. How many years of work experience do you have? Try calculating your CRS using your own work experience as the PA. To boost your husband's CRS, he can consider learning French. |

Esomimi: Good morning all,
please I have a question...
Hubby and I want to apply for EE with me as PA. I have IELTS already and my ECA completion date is 14th of May. Hubby has a Masters and claiming points for that puts our crs score at 469. But the issue is that WES is frustrating his ECA. it is one stalling story after another. all their call center agents have different stories to tell. If we don't claim points for his Masters, crs score is 459. So we thought of going into the pool as soon as my ECA is out (459) and shun WES with their wahala. if we get the report before ITA, we update. So to my question: 1. Can we apply together without his ECA? 2. Will He still be asked to provide an ECA even though we didn't claim points? 3. Will this decision affect the process later on? 1. Yes 2. No 3. As long as you don't use it to claim points then no it won't. |

iaatmguy: just your pgd. However you might need the ECAof your bsc depending on your career path. I don't think that's correct, he/she needs to evaluate both. Only if it's an MSC or MBA is when only the highest degree will be evaluated. |

teechedah: Thank you very much to the reply. So my wife and I can sit for the IELTS exam with me as the primary applicant? So also do I need to evaluate her own credentials too alongside mine. Thanks All of that depends on your score, why not simulate it with her writing IELTS alone and not doing ECA, then with her doing both and see which one favours you more. As I said earlier a score above 450 is sufficient to get you ITA. |
