Donxavier: Thanks so much. Donxavier: Thanks so much.@justwise, For a Tier 4 (general) applicant, from the policy guidance, dependants are only allowed if 1.The course being studied is 12months or more OR 2.The main applicant is six months and the main applicant is being sponsored by ano official sponsor who has confirmed that they will be responsible for the maintenance inclusive of the dependants. For a child dependant (under 18yrs) applying from outside the UK 1. The child must not have formed ano independent family unit. 2.Must have the intention of living with the applicant unless in a boarding school 3.The other parent MUST also be applying for leave to enter at the same time or already has leave to enter. (All Paraphrasing mine) Now, my point is this, does the provision of the letter of consent from the husband (which was not mentioned but which might have been implied) override the requirement that the husband must also be applying for leave to enter or should have had leave (which was explicitly mentioned) ?I believe that whether or not a letter of consent is provided by the husband, the compulsory requirements are: 1.Maintenance funds as you have rightly specified 2.The presence or intention of the other parent to be in the UK. I believe all this is to ensure that the child is not denied of the right to family life for a whole year!! Of course the other factors that u mentioned, costs, convenience, accommodation etc come into play but in my opinion, a letter of consent does not override the legal requirement of the immigration rules as par the other parent. |
Donxavier: You are right. It doesn't apply for the Tier 4 general student, I think that's for the tourist's or so. My bad@Donxavier So what would be the best advice for her? Do you think she should just focus on her studies for a year...i.e leave her baby with the father, bearing in mind justwise's prior comments on d cost of raising a kid in UK without a regular income(since she cant work) |
Donxavier: The link is on page 58. 3rd post from the beginning. You need a letter of consent from the Father to take your baby. See Justwise advice for the pregnant lady. As regards the account, Yes. Charles gave you the right answer. The most important thing is for it not to drop below the required balance till your visa is issued.Hey! Are you sure about that? I mean the letter of consent part,I think she should read the document from the link very carefully,I might be wrong (although I dont think I am) but the requirements for a Tier 4 (General) student for child dependants under 18 (in this case 9 months) applying from outside the UK are the maintenance funds and that the other partner must also be planning to be in the UK!!...not a letter of consent!! In the event that the student has sole responsibility for the child, then this must have been documented and legalized prior to the application. Maybe the poster should take time out to read the policy guidance document very carefully! |
Thanks so much Bro,guess its her call at the end of the day, |
@justwise..hmmmm didnt consider all those points o,although there is talk that her husband might travel with her as her dependant sha,i now see reason why they are thinking of that, although about the accomodation thing, her husband's family has accomodation in london that they'll be giving them! Thanks for highlighting d way the ECO will think, message will be passed. Thanks bro! |
Hi peeps, submitted on 22 August, guess ave now joined d league of 'awaiting results' Sheffield peeps,i dey come o!!By the way....@justwise and others,I'd like to make ano enquiry for a friend.Does being pregnant disqualify a tier 4 applicant even if all other conditions ave been met? She is 15 weeks pregnant, she stated this in part 7 of d application form, attached a medical report that confirms that she can still attend classes till her 38th week of pregnancy.and there is also this section on the UKCISA that says that a tier 4 visa holder giving birth is not considered to be making use of public funds. Should she go ahead and apply or just defer till next year. She has paid d full tution o....Pls justwise its kinda urgent. Thanks |
@FutureDon Wow!! Its good to ask questions o,I graduated 2008/2009 session....I guess thats it!! As par d extension, am just worried about this their new 20 working days they've been telling people, Mebbe I should just go with the sept 19 jor. Also, does anybody in the house know about their yellow card (i.e the vaccine) and TB requirements at the Point of Entry? What health checks if any do they require? |
@Futuredon and @Justwise Sorry, to interrupt this interesting and educative debate o,but i need a quick clarification. My CAS was mailed to me on sat,but on the section the docs section, they wrote,"Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree Certificate 2008/9.." Meanwhile,my certificate that i scanned to them is clearly dated May 23,2008. 1.Should I mail them to have this corrected or can I go ahead to submit. 2.My School is resuming Sept. 19 but am just submitting on Wed. I intend to mail them for ano extension, should I just attach their reponse to my application or wait for them to update the CAS before submitting. 3. Do I write the new date on the course start date or put the old resumption date. 4.@Futuredon....is it directadmissions that I'll mail for the extension or my course leader. Thanks a Billion |
FutureDon: @penfoldThanks Pal,I finally got an alert(debit) from 1st bank on friday, after a strongly worded petition to their HQ.I called SHU on monday but they told me that since the bank made the transfer around 4pm,I should wait till today(wed) since it has not reflected in their own account. They also said that since I'm paying the full tution, they'll mail d CAS the day they see the payment.Everything is set o,forms filled, docs ready, except for CAS.....in fact,I HATE FIRST BANK!!!! |
Donxavier: I used First Bank and it got there the next day. It took just one day. Maybe it's your branch or something. Dharkchild: Not true, maybe your branch had issues....,I used first bank and the transaction was carried out same day, tho it took the school 3 days to acknowledge the transaction, but they acknowledged they received it the day I made the transaction.Well, mebbe u guys used a domicilliary account or ur branch is efficient. My branch keeps on telling me that its ano head office issue, anyway,I've called firstcontact and they are assuring me of 2mrw.BTW that makes it 10 working days.I pray CAS comes out in 3 days like others o. So i can drop my docs on wed/thurs. |
@EVERYBODY..... If you are paying your school fees,do not use first bank.am nt 'de-marketing' them o.just a tip to save people headache. Unless u are using a domicilliary accnt, they will take up to 10days to 'process' ur payment. Its best to use either GT bank or Standard chartered. ***speaking from personal experience o |
Dharkchild: Almost all, but they are connecting flights. you would have stop overs Donxavier: Connecting flights like he said. Either you connect through Europe or the Middle East. E.g Lagos to London, London to Manchester. Thanks, |
FutureDon: Sheffield Hallam University, MSc Cognitive Neuroscience.@FutureDon,finally,i find someone from my 'planet' (lol). Pls after u mailed d telex copy of d payment, how long did d CAS take to come out.Just filled the Form A from FirstBank yesterday, they told me dt they'll be able to give me d telex copy by friday and I plan to mail it to SHU that same day. With this 21 working days they are doing now am a lil worried abt d resumption.BTW, the maintenance funds is no issue. |
Sheffield Hallam University,MSc Forensic Sciences @Dharkchild,I beg which airline flies Lagos to Manchester? |
justwise: Why were you refused a visa in 2009?I was refused because the letter of invitation from the hospital in london where i was meant to have my outside posting as a medical student came one week before the date they specified i was to resume,so by d time i was making the visa application,it was like 5 days to resumption, so the high commission said that my visa application was submitted too late as there was no way i could resume for outside posting on d date they specified unless the hospital gives me another resumption date, after which i can now re-apply. But i didnt do dt because by then i wld ave been on another posting in nigeria. So i just did d posting at uch |
@justwise Thanks for all the advise and guidance offered on this forum, its been a great help.please i need ur help/advice.Am about to apply for my tier 4(general) visa but my old passport, which is ano e-passport has been replaced with a new one.i've made a previous application for a visiting visa to the uk in 2009 which was refused.on d tier 4 application form, there's a place they asked for home office reference number for previous applications and sincerely,i don't ave dt again as all d documents relating to dt application has been destroyed(by d july 10,2011 flood) i only ave my old passport number with me. D old passport has been collected back by immigrations.pls what can i do? |
@adfman....Bruv,you are a real Man, and believe me,you are lucky!! We lost a dear friend with the unborn baby 2yrs ago to this condition. Please, you can help more pregnant people by raising the awareness. There is an eclampsia foundation in Nigeria that was started in Memory of the dear friend....(Tokunbo Owolabi-Ukpoma) and am sure they will appreciate someone like you sharing this story at the talks and workshops for pregnant women. Pls can u call Marshall Ukpoma on 08030450728, or send me a PM with your contact details. In doing so you might be saving more than a life. Peace |
